Fake Cartridges Are Negatively Impacting The Cannabis Industry

0
fake cartridges

Fake cartridges are becoming more and popular, causing skepticism in various companies. To begin, the cannabis industry has been around for years, allowing legal experimenting and tests on cannabis and its properties. Terpenes and concentrates have been around for over 5 decades, but as technology advances so does the quality. With many ways to consume concentrate, vaporizing with oil cartridges seems to be one of the most popular trend.

Vape cartridges, also sometimes referred to as vape pens or wax pens, is becoming very popular because of its convenience and efficiency. Concentrates smoked through carts make life easier since there’s no packing dabs, also the discretion is just a plus. Making it less harsh to smoke, cartridges are becoming high on demand in the cannabis market. Although this is great for people who like smoking discretely, the black market is selling an abundance of fake cartridges. Because of this reason, many people are becoming skeptical, causing a negative impact for cannabis companies and dispensaries.

What even are cartridges and are they safe?

First off, cartridges have been around for about a decade in the vape industry, but only for vape juice. Because modern technology has advanced, thick oils have been made easier to consume cartridges. Before ceramic CCELL coils were used and discovered, tinctures were prepared in a unique way. This allows people to vaporize concentrate easily.

Cartridges used by companies are mainly distillates and terpenes, or even concentrates combined together to their own unique taste. Each brand uses their choice of oil, and unless its lab tested there’s no telling the quality of the product. This has been disrupting the cannabis industry, especially since there is no official regulations. In addition, companies have issues suing other manufacturers that distribute bad oil since it’s still a federally illegal product.

A list of all known fake cartridge brands so far

This includes all known fake brands, street brands, counterfeits, and black market brands. We’ll update this list as more are discovered.

distillate of cartridge
Companies will mix the concentrate properly to fill up the cartridge itself.

Preparation of Cartridges

To break it down in simpler words, companies take distillate and add their own flavors (terpenes), then fill up cartridges. Distillate is just a type concentrates extracted from all properties, making it solvent free through a simple distillation process. Left often with over 90% raw THC, the distillate is than ready to be mixed with terpene of choice.

Tinctures were prepared to fill up regular vape cartridges before the distillation process of any concentrate was discovered. Medical grade propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine are often used as base additives. Even though they were intended for vape juice. The vape cartridge (tank) is than filled up with the new mixed together juice. With all of the bunk carts that are going around, this method is most likely used with many counterfeits.

Fake cartridges and the black market

With the rise and popularity of these cartridges, merchants seek opportunities in making money by selling counterfeit products. This means there is no telling what exactly you are vaping anymore if you aren’t purchasing from legitimate dispensaries. High demands for carts causes sources on the counterfeit market to sell faster, meaning many carts out there are probably illegitimate.

The popularity of vape cartridges makes it easier for vendors to sell fake carts to people living in illegal states. Vendors distribute oils in packages that the counterfeit market provides, leaving consumers clueless. Usually, you will never know what you’re vaping if the packaging is either not official or even existent. Most official companies usually have lab tested product, but the black market always seems to produce amazing fakes. Even real carts have still had pesticide and residual solvent issues though.

With similar packaging, some of these fake cartridges will be more difficult to identify than others.

Well known packaging massively sold by Chinese manufacturers

Companies from overseas are manufacturing empty cartridges in bulk with unofficial “official” branded casings . Popular branded companies, like Brass Knuckles, Dank Vapes, and dozens more are being listed as copyrighted and distributed as legit.

Although some companies make it easier to distinguish fake cartridges to an authentic ones, this has become very problematic. Ruining the reputation and reliability of the company and unsure if any if the oil is safe what so ever. These companies may consistently update their packaging for this reason, but Chinese manufacturers catch up and replicate the new packaging.

spotting fake 710 king pens
With many attempts to upgrade style of packaging, manufacturers figure it out quickly.

Once the cartridges are sold they get shipped, allowing vendors to fill up the cartridge with their own distillate. Unreliable carts will always rise suspicious, making people unsure. Besides this, counterfeits are negatively impacting the reputation of these cartridges.

De-branding big branded companies

As cartridges are keep getting more popular, more fakes are keep on selling in the black market. Until cannabis becomes legal and recreational for the public to smoke, fake vendors will not stop selling to consumers. Counterfeits flood streets everywhere and the manufactures only seem to get better at making the packaging look legit. The only way to tell if your cartridge is 100% legit is to buy it from an authorized reseller of that brand.

Social media has become a platform to sell fake vape cartridges

Yes, you did read that right, and you may even be wondering, how may this be possible? Although social media platforms are very strict with the content you post, this doesn’t stop vendors from promoting their products. Eventually, these platforms do catch on and will either delete the content or even their page. But merchants will keep creating profiles to put in their contact information, selling and shipping these fake cartridges.

Some of these companies aren’t even official cartridges, rather just packages of ‘brands’ created by Chinese manufacturers

Whereas most companies provide information about their products online, some of these companies aren’t authentic what so ever. Furthermore, some of theses fake cartridges are just manufacturers, selling cartridges for the purpose of filling them with distillate. Unfortunately there is no telling if they’re official or not due to the lack of data given.

exotic carts flavors
With the low amount of data about some of these companies, it is unsure how authentic these cartridges really are.

Companies and DabConnection are taking action in regards to these fake cartridges

Despite replicas being sold in the black market, these branded companies are taking extra measures to prevent from this happening. They’ll do so by sharing information on their social platforms, explaining how to tell apart fakes carts from legit ones. Below are our insights into fake cartridges as well as links to our pages that explain fakes for particular brands more in depth.

Fake Brass Knuckles cartridges

One of the easiest ways to identify fake Brass Knuckles is real Brass Knuckles have a hologram on the side. Most fake Brass Knuckles cartridges do not. This is the first thing to look for and if there is no hologram you instantly know you have a fake.

brass knuckles fake vs real
The lack of a hologram is the easiest way to identify Fake Brass Knuckles cartridges.

Another way to differentiate the real ones is to check for misspelling and misinformation on the bottom of the Packaging. Apart from the lettering being word correctly, real Brass Knuckles have strain information on the bottom. When that information is lacking, you can be sure it is a fake cartridge.

Real Brass Knuckles regardless were having issues with their cartridges

It should be noted that even with the authentic Brass Knuckles, they also are facing a couple of problems. Most recently they have tested clean based on tests they have provided. However, it is hard to trust them after multiple failures for pesticides. There is even a lawsuit against Brass Knuckles currently ongoing for somebody that got sick from their cart. See our vape pen pesticides and solvents test page for Brass Knuckles testing information, current and past.

Fake Heavy Hitters cartridges

With fake Brass Knuckles carts we can tell by a myriad of errors in design. Fake Heavy Hitters vape cartridges look very identical. The great thing that Heavy Hitters does (that Brass Knuckles does not) is provide a list of authorized retailers. Buying from authorized retailers is the only way to guarantee it is an authentic cartridge. The most common place to find these fake vape cartridges is in states where cannabis is illegal. Another thing is that they have tested dirty once again, containing harmful pesticides.

Fake Stiiizy Pods

fake stiiizy pods
Stiiizy has confirmed that the black plastic insert packaging is fake.

With fake Stiiizy pods, they look exactly the same as the original ones, it’s not always easy to tell them apart. Also, Stiiizy is currently in the process of changing and updating their packaging. The packaging makes it look cheap. Fake Stiiizy pods may appear to look, smell, and even taste the similar. Stiiizy has tested dirty for benzene as shown on our test page, but it was only once for a small amount of benzene.

One of the main things that Stiiizy prides themselves for is the quality of oil that they deliver. The most definite way to tell if your pod is a fake is by applying the bubble test to it. Furthermore, the bubble test is when you flip your cartridge or pod upside down, watching the speed of the air bubble. If the air bubble rises fast, than you can tell the quality of oil isn’t great, making it a fake.

Fake 710 King Pen

Not only is this a problem but real 710 King Pens have also been having problems recently, testing dirty. Aside from this, it fake 710 King Pen will be more obvious to identify. You can be able to tell apart by various factors, from the sticker of the cartridge to the quality of the oil. But be aware that not all of these fake cartridges don’t have the same variables.

The real cartridges always have the logo of the crown or something relevant to the company.

Fake Mario Carts and Exotic Carts

exotic carts vs mario carts
Both of these brands have build a reputation, questioning its legitimacy

Mario Carts and Exotic Carts have become very popular and everyone is still wondering if they are legit or not. Unlike the previous companies we have mentioned, neither of these two brands have any background information about themselves. Additionally, they both failed lab tests, also containing pesticides.

If we were to have to decide, we believe that all Exotics and Mario carts aren’t official companies. Whereas these are just manufacturers that sell these brand packaging in bulk rather than distillate itself. These companies are mainly to provide refillable cartridges to be sold for people living in illegal markets. Because there is no official information about them yet, this will stay unknown and untrustworthy to smoke. See our page on fake Exotic Carts for more information. We will have further information on fake Mario Carts soon.

Fake Dank Vapes

As mentioned earlier, the affect of fake cartridges have made companies entirely change the look of their packaging. Alternatively, Dank Vapes completely changed their look, having a darker look to their packaging. At this point if there was any central Dank Vapes company, they are not operating. Right now all Dank Vapes are a form of fake cartridge.

On the other hand, the black market has already caught up and started producing replicas of these new packaging! Without it being a month, manufacturers have already found out how to create identical packages and sell them in bundles. Along with that, they even contain over a dozen of pesticides, since last tested on December. See our page on fake Dank Vapes for more information.

Hopefully Dank Vapes decide to upgrade their packaging once again

Fake Space Vape

When it comes to Fake Space Vapes, you can easily identify if you have a fake or not. The main thing to watch is if you have their updated package or not. Due to so many fakes out, they re-styled their package, making it more difficult for the black market to fake.

Shown above are the cartridges that they discontinued because of all the fakes going out.

After battling with fake cartridges, they decided to stick with this package shown below. These ones are very difficult to fake because the packaging is no where to be found for sale.

These are the only authentic types of Space Vapes. If you pick up any that don’t look like this package, than it most likely is a fake.

Fake TKO Cartridges

TKO’s Vapes is a company based out of California. Therefore, Fake TKO cartridges are everywhere, most likely outselling the original product. The easiest way to identify if you’r cartridge is authentic is if it’s disposable.

If you ever get a cartridge from TKO Extracts that look like this, than it’s a fake.

Fake Cookies Cartridge

First off, Cookies (the company itself) produces different types of Cannabis products such as flowers, extracts, concentrates, edibles, tinctures, topicals, and more. Unfortunately, there have been many packaging that are fake. Below we’ll show a few fake packaging.

Fake CCELL Cartridges

CCELL cartridges have become the most known and used cartridge that many companies use to fill in their distillate. Because of this, manufacturers replicated this hardware and sell in bulk to people on the streets rather than licensed dispensaries.

How to identify Fake CCELL Cartridge

authentic ccell cartridges
Authentic CCELL cartridges should always have these three stamps engraved to them.

CCELL must have these three stamps on the bottom of the cartridge itself. If there is one missing or perhaps with a different fonts, most likely it’s a fake.

fake dank vapes
Also always check for stamps and other odd features on the bottom.

As mentioned earlier, sometimes the fonts look slightly different when it comes to the font itself. Apart from that, if you see a white plastic underneath the 510 thread rather than a clear one, there’s a chance it also might be a fake. Read our blog for more information on Fake CCELL Cartridges.

Other types of Fake Vape Cartridges

There are constantly fakes coming out for various cartridges. The best way to stay away is to go to legitimate dispensaries. We will keep making pages on brands of fake cartridges and update this post as we go. You may want to also see our pages on fake Heavy Hitters and fake Space Vape cartridges.

What Are The Health Risks Of Fake Cartridges?

Some of you may be wondering “What’s the big deal?” Now it may be true, you could get legitimate oil from some black market 3rd-party vendor which may only be a step or two below brand name quality. But there’s so much more to vape oil than just the cannabis concentrate itself. Here’s a breakdown of the risks you’re taking:

Pesticides – Pesticides are the oilpen health concern everybody seems to focus on. And well they should! Pesticides are both nasty and a shockingly common contaminant. Out of 44 samples of cannabis oil tested in California two years back, only 3 came back clean of pesticides. Pesticides have too many issues to list here, but some of the health concerns are headaches, nausea, cancer, reproductive harm, endocrine disruption, irritation, tissue damage, dizziness, and fatigue.

Herbicides – It’s worth highlighting this case because it teaches a valuable lesson. Monsanto, the agri-business company behind the weed-killer RoundUp, has recently been taken to court for its active ingredient glyphosate causing non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (a cancer form) despite years of assurance that RoundUp is not a carcinogen. Glyphosate has been found in food, including crackers, cookies, honey, corn, and soybean. Bet your bottom dollar it’s in some pot out there too.

Polyethylene glycol – This is an additive common in e-cigarettes for making huge vapor clouds. That’s a pretty effect, but polyethylene glycol has problems. First, it can be contaminated with ethylene oxide, which is classified as a carcinogen. Polyethylene glycol also breaks down into formaldehyde when it burns, AKA embalming fluid, classified as a possible carcinogen.

Propylene glycol – Another smoke enhancer, used in everything from deodorant sticks to smoke machines. But inhaling it is an untested realm of medicine so far. We do know it can cause adverse reactions such as sore throat and muscle pain.

Lead – Plain old regular vape cartridges have tested positive for lead, even on regulated, accredited brands. That should scare you off anything unregulated. Lead is a neurotoxin that causes general and permanent brain damage, in addition to being deadly at higher concentrations. There is no safe exposure quantity of lead. The only acceptable lead levels for something you’re inhaling should be 0%.

Until legalized, fake cartridges will keep causing problems for the cannabis industry

Because this isn’t recreational in all states yet, fake cartridges will keep on emerging and rising in the black market. And there isn’t anything these companies can do yet, with it still being a federally illegal product. With fake cartridges containing pesticides, this is causing illness and massive problems towards companies reputation. Something that you’ll realize with these carts is that even the real ones failed in lab tests, containing harmful distillate.

To conclude, it your best bet is to purchase your cartridges through licensed dispensaries

If you just pick it up from the street, you will never know what you’re truly smoking, making it dangerous to consume. Also, it is ideal to purchase more reliable cartridges that are pesticide free and are high in THC percentage.

Health and safety will always be number 1 for recreational and medicinal users alike. Fake cartridges are more likely to be in the form of bacteria or fungi than cartridges in dispensaries. Likewise, fake carts will have the chemical residues like pesticides more often than not.The negative effect might not be immediately clear still it will manifest when you continue using contaminated cannabis.

Coastal Cartridges Review : Low Quality Cartridge Or High Quality Vape?

coastal cartridges review

Coastal Cartridges are a mysterious brand, for there isn’t any information to be found about their company. With that being said, these cartridges were revealed to be very weak and and untrustworthy. From the taste of it to the oil, these low quality carts give a light and mild high. Apart from all of this, we can’t prove the companies legitimacy, making it unsure about what we’re actually smoking. Not living up to its expectations, I personally wouldn’t purchase these cartridges again at all.

Pros:

  • Decent taste

Cons:

  • Weak oil quality
  • Takes several hits to actually feel high
  • Some hits are harsh
  • Overall untrustworthy

Recommendations: Make stronger oil. If these carts are actually legit, provide some sort of information about company bio.

Coastal Cartridges have no background or credibility

coastal cartridge pacaging
Examining the packaging, they seem to be supposedly made in California.

To begin with, I did a lot of research and found nothing online about these cartridges. They might be fake cartridges from the outset. Let alone not having lab test results out, I wasn’t able to find any sort of data on social media. There wasn’t even anything to be found on Reddit. With no proof of the company, this cartridge is susceptible to contain pesticides or any other harsh chemicals in them.

These are full gram cartridges and claim to be 100% natural and over 90% THC, but I doubt how accurate that really is. Also, there’s no telling wether it’s an Indica, Sativa or a Hybrid, for there’s no checks on the label. I did try to scan the bar code to my phone, but obviously nothing showed up.

Watch our video review below and keep reading on for the more in depth review.

On the below picture Coastal claims these are 100% natural on one and that it’s premium wax concentrate on the other. Reviewing these carts proved both those claims are questionable.
coastal cartridge packaging
Not living to its expectation, Coastal Cartridges didn’t feel as close as to what they claim to be, in regards to THC percent.

These cartridges give a mild and discouraging high, only after a lot of hits

My first impression to these carts was a disappointment. Because of how weak they are, numerous hits had to be taken to even feel a buzz. At first, I started to believe that this won’t get me high at all. But I did get surprised with a mixture of a body and mind high, only after 10 hits. Additionally, the high would give me a headache at times, killing the feeling.

Comparing the two, Retro OG and Maui Wowie felt the exact same from one another

coastal cartridge flavors
Both of these flavors are very identical from each other, it’s as if they’re both the exact same distillate.

There really isn’t much difference between the two of these cartridges. Even with the terpenes tasting alike, the only difference to be found is one tastes like it has more terpenes. This cartridge honestly felt as if it were vape juice that gets you high due to the high fruity taste. These two carts gave the same, light high and light taste. I should mention that although the hits are smooth at times, they would randomly be harsh on the throat.

Coastal cartridges have a low quality, thin distillate

coastal cartridges oil quality
Analyzing the oil, it seems nice and gold at first, but taking a closer look it has clear, somewhat cloudy light color.

Something negative about these carts are how thin and cloudy the oil is. When I flipped it upside down, the oil would move very quickly and also burns fast. Differing from the Space Vape cartridges, this thin oil isn’t as satisfying or strong what so ever. Also, when I opened the mouth piece, I accidentally felt the oil and it felt very translucent , not sticky at all.

Although the quality is not great, it still surprisingly gets you high out of no where. Because of how light and smooth it feels, you don’t feel anything at the moment when inhaling it. As you keep taking multiple hits from it, you will feel the mellow high hit randomly all at once. Yet, as mentioned earlier, the carts will randomly give harsh and unsatisfying hits. This makes me wonder how pure and reliable the oil really is, unsure whether there’s any sort of pesticides.

They do use a smooth cart with decent air flow

The only good feature about these Coastal Carts are the cartridge hardware itself. They do give fairly thick smoke and the cartridge is well made. The hits aren’t as smooth as they can be, but overall it still hits clean. The comfort to in on the mouth piece was nice as well. Another thing is that they are reusable. I noticed later on that they have a twist on mouth piece.

Coastal Cartridges give a slight fruity taste, yet nothing like concentrate

Something that bothered me a lot was how exact both cartridges tasted like. As mentioned earlier, they both are identical and give a light fruit flavor, almost like a berry taste. In contrast of tasting anything like concentrate should, it tasted almost like vape juice.

The distillate burned very quickly, lasting only a few days

Another unfortunate thing about these cartridges is how fast they go through. Because of how thin the oil is, it would burn like easily. It’s not even that it isn’t efficient, but because it gives a light high I would consistently smoke this cartridge. For me, I finished almost half of the cart in one day and the whole cartridge in 3 days.

Above all, Coastal Cartridges are not trustworthy or reliable

coastal cartridges review
Overall, there are very little positive qualities about these Coastal Cartridges and I wouldn’t advise or recommend them.

Because of the lack of information out there on these cartridges, we really aren’t sure what’s in this distillate. Along with that, the oil is so weak that I wouldn’t find any enjoyment in smoking these.

To conclude, Coastal cartridges are of low quality and give an unpleasant high. Dissatisfied with the distillate, there really aren’t much good qualities about it other than the hardware itself. I personally wouldn’t recommend this to anyone, not even people looking for something light to smoking. For ones safety, you should be purchasing your distillate from licensed dispensaries or at least from well-known companies.

Space Vape Review : Potent Oil, Pleasant Hits And A Powerful High

space vape review

From the positive reputation, Space Vape has become very credible with all of their products coming in. With the Very Special or Premium line out, also known as VSOP, this THC cartridge proves to be high quality. The oil is very strong and potent as it claims to be. Although the quality of the oil is top notch on the Space Vape cartridge, the flavor of the hits tastes very natural and aren’t as flavorful. This neutral tasting cart isn’t that harsh and gives smooth hits. But watch out, reviewing this cart showed me you will get a lot more high than you’d expect it to.

Pros:

  • Potent and thick oil
  • Has a natural taste
  • Positive test results

Cons:

  • Isn’t very flavorful
  • Test results aren’t recent

Recommendations: Update their lab results as well as their website to show all of their official products.

Space Vape has built a reputable brand to rely on

Having an official website, Space Vape has various trustworthy products that are uniquely made by them. From cartridges and pods to edibles, they have been building a positive reputation to their name. Take a look at our video review below and keep reading on for the more in depth review on Space Vape cartridges.

Another thing to mention is they have tested positive in lab results, containing no pesticides and up to 91% THC. This can explain why the oil is very strong and compelling.

Alien King Louis has a nice, lasting mind high with a slight piney taste

space vape cartridge
Space Vape packaging is displayed nicely and uniquely.

This strain gives a nice mind high that lasts for longer than you’d expect it to! This sativa gave me a mellow and active high with just a few hits that would last up to hours. Although this strain gives a satisfying high, it might be stronger than you’d expect it to be. This flavor gives a slight natural mint taste following a piney aftertaste.

space vape king louis
Alien King Louis is more for the amazing high, rather the taste.

I should acknowledge that these carts do leaves a dense smell to it. Because it is more of a natural taste, it does leave a slight skunk scent, making it less discrete. This might be a good thing, with other cartridges smelling more like artificial scents, this proves to be of quality.

Space Vape uses enduring and typical, basic vape cartridge hardware

space vape oil
The oil is so thick, it won’t move easily when you turn upside down

The cartridge that Space Vape use is seen on many types of cartridges today. There is nothing special about them other than its simplicity and comfort. Also, these carts do have a twist on mouth piece, allowing you to reuse them. Giving smooth hits, the airflow of this cart made it easy and effortlessly to take hits.

Additionally, the cartridge itself does say is iKrusher which is the manufacturing facility that makes these cartridges. iKrusher is manufactured by ALD, who also makes the vFire hardware used in the Plug and Play vape. Because there are many fake cartridges out, there has been some confusion on whether these are official or not. As seen in their official Instagram account, the images of their cartridge did say iKrusher on it.

space vape oil quality
Not all of the cartridges are just going to say just iKrusher, for instance some of them might say ala before it. Some of these carts might not even say anything.

Space Vape contains clear, golden potent oil

Shown in the earlier image, the quality of the oil is very potent and has an amazing clear color to it. I personally didn’t believe that the it’s 98% THC, but it did prove to be very strong. Even with the oil as dense as it is, these carts will still give great smooth hits. As mentioned in the beginning, this is a feature that Space Vape prides themselves of the most. I should warn you, regardless of how smooth these hits are, they will hit you hard, all at once.

Although these give soothing hits, it gets you high in moments

Something that surprised me is how gentle these carts hit. Not rough at all but might will feel it through your throat.
It doesn’t even get you coughing as much, which may be a good thing. With that being said, it will get you baked when you least expect it to. Effects include a really strong mind high and it does hit you randomly. It should be noted that this high will not settle in evenly, rather unexpectedly and heavy too.

Hits did have amazing tasting terpenes

space vape back of packaging
All the Space Vape packaging should have the same message in the back, following their social presence.

Personally, I believe that the Space Vape carts give just the right amount of terpenes and CBD to it. As shown in the beginning, the test results proves its quality. Containing a 100-1 THC to CBD flavor, these carts still gives a fascinating taste. Because of this, it does give an earthy taste of a mixture of pine and slight mint. Taste may not be as strong or flavorsome, but without a doubt they still gives a lasting, euphoric high.

Fairly efficient, but I felt as if it burned quickly

The oil may be dense and thick, but it smoked quicker than I anticipated. In general, it was reasonably efficient and may last some people for a good while. Unfortunately, from a heavy smokers perspective, it didn’t last that long. Good thing this cart hits strong, you’ll only need a few hits so it can last you a few hours.

Overall, Space Vape are very worth it for the price

This cartridge may range from around $40-$50, which is a great price for its potency. Knowing that these cartridges come from a credible company gives me a lot more safety in smoking natural oil. Unlike the old Dank Vapes, the oil is not only a lot more clearer but cleaner. I will definitely buy these carts again because of how smooth and safe, especially because of their potency.

Unfortunately, there are many fakes going around

This has to be the only negative feature to this cart that I can think of. Recently, there have been many Fake Space Vape cartridges going around. Getting these cartridges in the wrong hands may leave a bad experience, for instance the oil containing pesticides and artificial flavors. Fortunately, Space Vapes consistently update their products because of this reason. As long as you get from a reliable source and stay up to date with their content, you should be fine.

Another thing I noticed is that these Space Vape cartridges aren’t for sale anywhere online, which is a great thing. Unlike other carts, like fake Dank Vapes or fake Exotic Carts, these are no where to be found for sale. All of these cartridges, for the most part, are being sold by Chinese manufacturers. After that, they sell these cartridges online in bulk for people to put in their own oil. After researching everywhere, Space Vape were nowhere to be found online for sale.

To conclude, Space Vape really does deliver oil of high quality and strength

space vape cartridge review
If I have to say one thing about these carts is how potent yet pleasant the hits and high was.

Undoubtedly, these cartridges are strong and worth the asking price. This wont be the last time I see carts, for I will keep you updated whenever they come with new products. If you either don’t get high easily or just want to get really baked, I highly recommend you try these carts. Unless you prefer a high that settles in more smoothly, than I guarantee you will be in for a surprise.

The Juice Co Cartridge Review : Good Quality Oil and Recently Updated

the juice co cartridge review

The Juice Co cartridge pairs good quality oil with great hardware. Overall, after doing this review The Juice Co is something I would try again. But at the current level of strength, it is definitely behind other brands available in Nevada such as Roots Extracts, Airo Pro and Select Oil. I will say however, The Juice Co is ahead of the heavily advertised Brass Knuckles brand.

Update 3/21/2019: The Juice Co has significantly increased the strength of their carts. This review was done prior to their strength increase and we will update it after trying the new blends. They now have many carts over 80% THC.

Pros:

  • Top Quality Hardware
  • Excellent Taste
  • Very Clean Feeling
  • Energetic

Cons:

  • Could Be Stronger
Recommendations: Make something with a higher THC percentage or somehow make it in general stronger than what it is now. Increase the strength. Recently they increased strength, prior to this review. Gj Juice Co!

The Juice Co cartridge turned out to be of good quality, but lacked strength

The Juice Co vape cartridge has its strengths and weaknesses. Increase the strength and it is good to go. Everything else about the cart is stop notch. Hardware, taste, and consistency were all there, just strength is lacking. The strain tested here was Clementine, a Sativa, and was the strongest one available at Essence Tropicana West, coming in at 76.4% THC.

See our video review of The Juice Co cartridge below. Keep reading on for the more in depth review:

Design and Build Quality: The Juice Co uses CCELL cartridge

The Juico Co uses my favorite version of the CCELL cartridge which is the newest generation CCELL with a ceramic tip. This enables you to refill the cartridge again later eventhough it may not be officially recommended.

the juice co packaging
The Juice Co uses a nice fold out box for packaging.

At this point, CCELL’s current generation cartridge is the most reliable hardware that produces the best hit. It is highly recommended also to use it with a CCELL battery. CCELL cartridge and the battery just pair well together and seem to produce better vapor than pairing it with a box mod or other type of battery.  The two CCELL batteries that we recommend are the CCELL Palm and Silo.

the juice co vape cartridge
The Juice Co Clementine is a sativa strain.

Oil Quality: The Juice Co vaped very smoothly.

You can tell that the oil here used is of high quality. Very consistent looking, no discoloration and it vaped very smoothly throughout the whole entire time.

the juice co thc cartridge
The Juice Co with high quality oil.

Strength: THC percentage needs to increase.

Strength of The Juico Co THC cartridge could be a little bit stronger. I had to hit it at about ten times to really get a good effect. Whereas the Roots cartridge, I could probably hit about five times. Effectively, it would cost a lot more with The Juice Co vape cartridge to get the same medicated effect as with Roots or Airo Pro cartridge. I can take way less hits on the other cartridges that cost roughly about the same and I get more of an effect.

Taste: The Juice Co gives perfectly balanced taste.

Taste was stellar on The Juice Co cartridge. It was perfectly balanced and taste did not change throughout the cartridge. They really got their terpenes down here and they know what they’re doing on taste. We just need to add in the strength to make this an overall better and well rounded cartridge.

Efficiency is top notch with new gen CCELL cart

The cartridge is perfectly efficient. Using the latest CCELL pretty much ensures efficiency is gonna be good. You look at the cartridge when it’s over, there really is no oil left.

The Juice Co cartridge is perfectly efficient.

Number of Puffs was decent

Number of puffs was decent. The oil did seem to burn a little bit faster than some of the other thicker distillates that I have had in the past. For example, when I fill a cartridge using one of AMA’s oils, it does seem to last longer.

Also, more puffs are needed to get the same effect on this cartridge as compared to some of the other stronger brands.

Value is there for people wanting the weaker cart

Value is not that great for someone looking for strong THC carts. This is a perfect vape cartridge for somebody that wants something that is not extremely overpowering. There are a lot of people out there that prefer these lighter cartridges so don’t get swayed just by our opinion here. Here at DabConnection we’re looking for the absolute strongest cartridges, most of the people that read here are too.

However, I have to dock the value a little bit here because I really could just take much less hits on a Roots or another brand and I would get the same effect. So effectively since I have to hit it twice as much, I’m really getting about half the value of other top brands’ cartridges. That is why the value score here is a little bit lower than we expected.

Concluding our review of The Juice Co cart

In conclusion, The Juice Co has all the points down except for being high on strength. That is something very important to us here. For the time being, until I see a much higher THC percentage printed on the box, I probably would not try another Juice Co cartridge. Once I see it though, definitely a brand worth giving a second shot.

Cannabinoids

0

Cannabinoids are a class of diverse chemical compounds that act on cannabinoid receptors in the brain. Some active cannabinoids include THC and CBD. They attach to the cannabinoid receptors of cells, which then release chemicals throughout the body.

At most recent count, there are at least 133 types of cannabinoids in cannabis.

cannabinoid receptor chemicals
There are at least 133 types of cannabinoids in cannabis.

Cannabinoid receptors weren’t even discovered until the 1980s. There is still a lot we don’t know about how cannabinoids even work or what most individual cannabinoids do. For instance, tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THCP) and cannabidiphorol (CBDP) were just discovered in the year 2020, and they were trumpeted around the web as being “30 times more potent than THC.” That actually doesn’t mean they get you higher though.

Cannabinoids are concentrated in the resin produced in cannabis trichomes. A short list of prominent known cannabinoids, beside THC and CBD with which we’re already quite familiar:

  • THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) – Precursor to THC, why you need to decarb weed to activate it.
  • CBDA (cannabidiolic acid) – Likewise the precursor to CBD, same reason to decarb.
  • Cannabinol (CBN) – Chemically similar to CBD, but found in oxidized (aged) weed. Known to contribute to drowsiness.
  • CBG (cannabigerol) – Precursor to other cannabinoids, leaving very small quantities naturally. Sometimes called the “stem cell” of cannabinoids.
  • CBC (cannabichromene) – Found abundantly. Not psychoactive, is being studied for medical effects.
  • CBL (cannabicyclol) – Derived from CBC, even on exposure to light.
  • CBV (cannabivarin) – Analog of CBN.
  • THCV (tetrahydrocannabivarin) – Homologue of THC. Has some psychoactive effects, is being studied for medical use. Known to decrease the effects of THC, when present.
  • CBDV (cannabidivarin) – Homologue of CBD. Some study on medical effects is ongoing.
  • CBCV (cannabichromevarin) – Homoloue of CBC. Largely unstudied yet.

On top of cannabinoids, cannabis also contains terpenes, which have their own range of psychoactive and physical effects. Terpenes are also commonly found in other plants.

Cannabinoid study

The study of cannabis cannabinoids has been hampered so far by the strong legal prohibitions against cannabis in much of the world. Thanks to the recent legalization of cannabis, scientific research has begun in earnest. So far we’re making breakthrough discoveries all the time, showing promise that we are on the threshold of a new frontier in understanding the organic compounds in cannabis and their effects.

Strains : Weed Strain

0
weed strains

Strains are the different breeds of cannabis, offered in variety at various dispensaries. Examples of strain names include Jack Herer, Gorilla Glue, Sour Diesel, and Pineapple Express.

dispensary_cannabis_strains

What’s the difference between weed strains?

Cannabis mainly comes in two varieties: Sativa and Indica. When we cross the two, that produces a hybrid. Nearly all of the weed strains we have today are hybrids.

Canonically, Sativa is the side of cannabis which has a more energizing effect, while Indica has the more relaxing effect, and hybrids have a cross in between. We speak of hybrids being “Indica-dominant” or “Sativa-dominant.” Different strains of cannabis have many ways they can be distinguished:

  • High or low THC – The main compound producing the high
  • High or low CBD – One of the cannabinoids most sought for therapeutic and medical effects
  • Terpene profile – Different concentrations of terpenes give cannabis strains their unique aromas, flavors, and effects
  • Other cannabinoids – There are over 133 cannabinoids in cannabis, many with their own medical or sensation effects
  • Cultivation factors – Like any plant, different cannabis strains have different ideal growing conditions or preferred climates

Since legalizing in select US states, the cannabis industry has taken to breeding cannabis strains the same way the agricultural industry produces the fruit in your produce section. Just as we get thousands of different varieties of apples, cannabis as a plant is subject to selective breeding, cloning, and general tinkering to produce varieties.

On the aroma and flavor spectrum, cannabis can have a number of pronounced characteristics:

  • Sweet strains – Fruity terpenes like limonene give cannabis a taste and odor like candy or cookies
  • Skunky strains – Heartier terpenes like caryophyllene give some cannabis strains a strong, pungent odor which smells musky
  • Herbal strains – Terpenes in common with the spice rack, such as myrcene, give cannabis a spicy, tasty aroma like parsley or oregano
  • Piney strains – These strains are rich in pinene, giving them a scent like a Christmas tree
  • Hoppy strains – These strains are rich in humulene, which is also present in hops and gives them a beer-like aroma

These characteristics of other plants happen to be due to the same terpenes found in those plants. Your spice rack, provided it has bay leaves, basil, pepper, and other staples, contains many of the same terpenes. The fruity terpenes are also found in citrus fruits, while humulene is also found in hops, which is also from the hemp family of plants like cannabis.

There are over 20,000 different terpenes found in cannabis. Beyond having different terpene percentages, cannabis can also be distinguished by concentrations of these active ingredients, with some strains having a more fibrous texture while others (like the “glue” family) have a characteristic of being sticky and gummy from the dense cannabinoid and terpene profile.

We are still researching more about cannabis. Due to its history as a prohibited substance, science research into the organic compounds of cannabis was stunted for decades, and is only now catching up. For example, we didn’t discover cannabinoid receptors in the human body until the 1980s.

The difficulty of establishing cannabis strains pedigrees

Because cannabis was entirely prohibited in most of the world, it was grown and sold exclusively by the black market. Because of this, the concept of different cannabis strains was a hazy idea that wasn’t well documented in early trade. Cannabis is also a technical “weed,” so it grows wild without cultivation.

In prohibited climates, few consumers think to ask about what strain their cannabis is, since they’re barely able to score from a plug if they’re lucky and will accept whatever they can get.

Most major cannabis strains are now claimed by cultivators, with well-established pedigrees. Others come to us from that black market, with their origins being a complete mystery. Since a black market still exists today due to cannabis only being partially legalized in a few places in the world, some strains today raise the question of whether they’re strains proper or an urban legend passed among bootleg growers.

Vape Cartridge

0
vape_pen_breakdown

A vape cartridges is the portion of a vape pen which contains the liquid and a mouthpiece for inhaling. It is meant to fasten onto a vaping battery at the bottom. Vape cartridges are a popular way to consume cannabis products. Cannabis vapes have grown in popularity since their introduction in about 2015. They would have been even more popular right now if it hadn’t been for the black market vaping lung epidemic, but even than have held steady demand after falling from their peak.

cannabis_vaping_vs_flower_trend

What goes in a vape cartridge?

In cannabis products, vapes come in various forms:

  • distillate– the majority of vape cartridges, AKA “oil” or “710”
  • live resin – a more pure form of cannabis extract, nearly the same quality you would get from dabbing
  • THC – carts may be concentrated extracts high in THC
  • CBD – vapes also come in CBD form made from hemp distillate
  • Delta 8 – a new kind which uses a companion cannabinoid to THC.

All cannabis products are derived from various extracts from the cannabis plant. There are several differences between live resin and distillate, all in the method of extraction. Because live resin is richer in terpenes and other natural cannabinoids, it has more of the full effect from the flower and contributes to the entourage effect.

What impurities can infiltrate a vape cartridge?

Beginning in about the summer of 2019, news broke out of a lung illness epidemic among vape users, which was traced back to black market vape cartridges. The cartridges in question were found to be cut with various third-party filler ingredients, some of which contained vitamin E acetate. There is a huge difference between something that’s safe to eat and something that’s safe to inhale the vapor from into your lungs.

The vaping lung illness crisis soon got swept from the news by the even bigger epidemic in 2020 which we now know as COVID-19. But the vaping lung injury epidemic is still ongoing. Unethical black market cartridge vendors, or plugs, may put any contents into a vape cartridge and unsuspecting buyers won’t know until they inhale it. Symptoms of lung injury from vaping continue to be reported.

Red Dragon Extracts pesticides test result

In addition, a prefilled vape cartridge may contain other contaminants such as:

  • residual solvents – solvents are used to extract compounds from flower and are then not properly flushed out
  • heavy metals – these may be oil contaminants or come from the cartridge itself
  • pesticides – an issue in any cultivated plant, but concentrated into oil form and vaped, they can reach critical levels
  • formaldehyde – industrial contaminant

Most of the contaminated vapes found are produced by black market vendors, but even professional licensed vape cartridge production labs can make mistakes too.

What is the difference between “real” and “fake” vape carts?

A “real” cartridge is an actual brand owned by a company and sold only at licensed dispensaries.

A “fake” cartridge is a made-up brand produced by black market product counterfeiters in China. The cartridges and packaging are sold empty on Internet retail websites such as Alibaba, DHGate, and many others. Black market plug buy these empty carts and fill them at home from a basement or garage operation, sometimes called “honey oil labs.” There are several “brands” which consistently pop up in this culture.

A “fake” may also be a counterfeit of a real cartridge brand. Most popular licensed brands have a fake counterpart produced on the same black market channels.

TKO fake

There is also an in-between “gray market.” These are single-source vape cartridge markets who are close to “legit,” but merely don’t have the proper licensing. These brands are found on the “underground sesh” circuit or in markets deliberately kept legally gray such as Washington, D.C.

In the name of safety, you should only buy prefilled vape carts from a licensed dispensary. If you do not have access, such as living in a state where cannabis is still illegal, your next safest bet is to only consume flower, since the plant itself does not have nearly the hazards of contamination. Failing that, street vendors at underground seshes at least have a community around them and a reputation to uphold, so they’re less risky. Buying vape cartridges from an anonymous street plug is almost suicidal.

AiroPro Review: Great Vape Pen and Cartridges are Strong

airo pro review

IMPORTANT UPDATE 3/11/21: AiroPro has now rebranded its distillate as AiroPod. Their products now look like this:

AiroPod by AiroPro
AiroPod by AiroPro

Same company with their website at Airo Brands. The below review mentions their old cartridge product line. We will have to get around to reviewing their new product line.

AiroPro cartridges are filled with THC oil and they use magnetic hardware that is known for producing more vapor than traditional vape cartridge systems. Formerly Indigo Pro, AiroPro vape pens are distributed by Airo Brands Inc. They are available in California, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. They made are best cartridges lists for both California and Nevada.

Since AiroPro launched it’s original cart and we did this review they have come out with additional lines of carts. This review covers the original flavored carts that are still available. Check out our reviews of AiroPro’s live resin and Live Flower series to see the new lines they have come out with. Their live resin made our best live resin carts list as the strongest currently available.

Pros:

  • Great oil quality
  • Long-lasting battery
  • Strong hits and thick smoke
  • Variety of carts available
  • Can be found in multiple states

Cons:

  • Battery indicator light not visible when hitting
  • The battery does not work with other cartridges by default
  • Cartridge sometimes has to be adjusted to hit
  • Battery has had high failure rate, but they do replace it

Recommendations: Make the battery indicator light visible while hitting it. Include an adapter with the pen that works optimally with standard 510 threaded cartridges.

Licensing Information: LVPCA Lic. #1037731824-000-PRO

Update 11/30/2019:  If you have had an AiroPro battery fail, most dispensaries will replace it for you, but call them first. If they will not, contact Airo Vapor support for a replacement. The UWOW Storm battery mentioned below is currently our pick for best battery for AiroPro cartridges.

See below our video review on the AiroPro vape pen and cartridges. Continue reading to see our more in-depth written review.

AiroPro cartridges are overall excellent

CCELL manufactures the hardware for AiroPro vape pen batteries and cartridges. The difference with AiroPro is is produces a bit more vapor than the standard CCELL cart. Airo Vapor also uses great quality distillates as the oil. For this AiroPro review, I tested both a Sativa and Indica cartridge.

Recently Airo Vapor issued a statement regarding vape safety. Take a look below.

airo pro safety

Over 3,000,000 units sold and no health complaints. AiroPro carts are available in multiple states and they follow all proper procedures in making their products.

Design and Build is unique to the AiroPro vape pen, but awesome quality overall

The AiroPro uses a CCELL cartridge that is not threaded. Instead of threading, it has a straight magnetic connector. The magnetic connection had to be adjusted occasionally by popping the atomizer back in and pressing it. Not really a big deal and have had this happen wit almost every other cartridge type at some point with extensive use.

airo pro vape pen battery
Right out the box are the battery and a plastic holding piece in the cartridge slot.

Only design flaw shows when the AiroPro battery is dying

Airo Vapor’s battery for the AiroPro cartridge system overall does a great job, but when it runs out of juice it can be hard to tell. The placement of the charging light that indicates the battery is dying cannot be seen while you are hitting it. You have to hit it real quick and turn it around if your vape is not hitting to see if it is dead. Sometimes it is just the cartridge needing an adjustment and the battery is still alive. Having the ability to see the battery status while hitting it would be a big plus. Many batteries do not have indicator lights at all.

How to tell the battery is dying

The battery vibrates in a way to tell you if it is dying:

One pulse – 30% battery left

Two pulses – 20% battery left

Three pulses – 10% battery left

Although I would prefer lights to tell, this still at least lets you know where the battery is at on the amount of power left.

Vibrates when you are hitting it

Taking a hit from the vaporizer results in a vibration you can feel. I like this feature as it lets you know when you are getting a hit or not. Adjust the cartridge by taking it out and putting it back in and moving it a bit if you are not getting it to hit. This is common with other carts as well, but with the vibration feature, you get to that part a little faster since you can tell right away it if the vape pen is not hitting properly.

The best battery for AiroPro is the UWOW Storm

This little known battery from a now possibly defunct company works best with AiroPro.  We do disclaim here this battery was not designed for AiroPro, made by CCELL nor designed with AiroPro in mind. We just had an AiroPro battery go bad once and this was lying around and it worked.

The key is don’t use the magnetic adapter when you use the UWOW Storm with an AiroPro cart. Just pop it in and it works. If it’s being picky pull it out push it in and twist it a bit.

uwow storm battery airopro
Pops right in and is more reliable than the AiroPro battery.

We originally received the battery it as a sample from UWOW when they sent us their C-Rex cartridge. We could not find them anymore and think they may have gone out of business. However, the UWOW Storm is still sold in a lot of places. So far the cheapest we have found is $15.99 at  City of Vape. With shipping about $21 for most people in the US.

The Storm battery has lasted so far about a year and as you can see above it’s taken some beatings. Lots of drops and falls, still going strong. Hits off this are also harder than on the regular AiroPro battery.

4.0 volts seems to be a good setting. Don’t good too high as you may blow the cartridge. Another plus is you can bring the magnetic adapter and only need one battery for regular carts and AiroPro. The Storm battery also works with both top and bottom airflow 510 carts when the magnetic adapter is used.

Carrying case is a nice bonus, but you pay for it

Airo Vapor throws in a carrying case with the AiroPro. I really like the case and will use it to carry it around. You cannot fit regular CCELL carts properly in the slots but could fit another similar sized stick battery in. The slots that hold AiroPro carts fit other carts just fine too.

airopro case
The AiroPro vape pen case has a nice feel and carries multiple cartridges too.

The AiroPro’s standard retail price at dispensaries is $35 while the CCELL Silo and Palm are $25. An extra $10 is not much compared to cartridge costs and you get a case, but the AiroPro is not compatible with other cartridges without an adapter. I will make a separate post on using a PCKT One adapter with the AiroPro to make it work with standard CCELL cartridges.

airo pro case open
The AiroPro case comes in handy.

Oil quality shines on AiroPro carts, top-notch distillate

AiroPro THC cartridges use distillate oil. I originally skipped the vape carts because I was told they were regular CO2 oil incorrectly at Nuwu dispensary. Sick of CO2 after too many CO2 carts I wanted some distillates and was directed to the less than stellar Cannabiotix vape cartridges. I went to Essence Tropicana a few months later. I was then correctly informed that they are distillate and bought a battery with two cartridges.

northern lights airo pro cartridge
Even though it tested lower I liked the Northern Lights a little more than the Oz’s Orchard.

AiroPro vape cartridges test high on THC and feel strong

THC percentage is not the end all be all of the strength, but it does matter. Oz’s Orchard tested at almost 84% THC and Northern Lights tested at almost 74%. AiroPro’s vaporization system is excellent. The experience is consistent. You have to use their battery, but that helps with consistency. We have found that CCELL carts work better with CCELL cartridges, and the AiroPro forces that experience by requiring their battery.

The taste was stellar particularly on the Sativa cart

I am not a big fan of flavor being added or where strength is sacrificed to add more terpenes. Although THC percentage is not everything, I generally try to pick out carts that are at least in the mid-70s. Budtenders often will recommend a cartridge due to flavor so it is always good to ask, is this one really strong?

ozs orchard airo pro cartridge
Never tasted anything this good that had a similar THC percentage.

Stronger sometimes means worse flavor, not here

Many of our readers would just take strength over anything and there are a lot of carts that have more terps and less THC. Terps are important too but I rather take the higher THC percentage and that often results in not-as-good taste. There are some carts that test high in THC, taste good, but still are not that strong, like we found on our Flav cart review.

airo pro ozs orchard test results
Nice solid THC 83.577% THC.

There are lots of carts in the mid-high 60s for THC percentage that taste better than the finest distillate high percentage carts. AiroPro’s indica cartridge tasted pretty standard for a distillate cart but in a good way. The taste was amazing on Oz’s orchard despite its strength.

airo pro northern lights test results
Tested lower, but effects were awesome on the Northern Lights vape cart.

Efficiency was as good as it gets

The AiroPro was as efficient as any other CCELL cartridge. This is as efficient as cartridge can get at the current time.

empty airo pro cartridge
Pretty much down to the last drop.

Number of puffs slightly reduced, but each hit bigger

Hits are bigger than of a regular battery and cartridge. This reduces the number of puffs but not in a negative way. The score has been adjusted higher here rather than just basing it off the actual number because overall you are getting good value per puff here and that is the true purpose of the category.

It was totally worth it, would buy again

The value was on point with AiroPro. The battery system costs you more to get in the door than some others, but the case is convenient and you get hard hits. Cartridges are the same price as other THC carts, but these are stronger, creating better value.

Concluding this AiroPro review…

The AiroPro turned out to be a great system overall. Oil is strong and of great quality distillate. The battery is unique and puts out hard hits. The cartridges do not work on other batteries, but at $35 the AiroPro vape pen battery is worth the cost. Plus it includes a useful carrying case.

Purpl Pro: New Mini Testing Machine for Cannabis Potency

0

Purpl Pro is a mini testing machine for cannabis potency. It is made available to fulfill the dream of instant portable potency measurement. The first pocket size potency analyzer made by Purpl Scientific. It is built to partner with your smartphone essentially making it into a state of the art Potency Measurement System. Consequently providing test results in seconds. Yes, it is that easy! Just your handy smartphone and the pocket size Purpl Pro can let you know the THC percentage in your flower.

I got to see the Purpl Pro in action at MJBizCon, and it was an amazing little device. With a small amount of herb ground up and put in, you know your THC percentage quickly. Although it is made for cultivators in mind, I could see myself going in on this with some friends just to test different flowers out. I hope in the future they add testing for residual solvents. It would be great if it can also test cartridges and extracts in the future.

Purpl Scientific – The Company That Makes Purpl Pro

Purpl Scientific’s development team is based in Finland. The team is primarily composed of innovators, scientists and engineers in optical science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, miniaturization, networking, mobile application development and more. Their long history of food safety solutions has become the foundation to expand their reach into the cannabis industry. Specifically, adding a team of cannabis scientists, researchers and consultants. Their purpose has led to their first installment of solution – Purpl Pro.

purpl scientific team based finland

Cannabis testing terms simplified by PURPL SCIENTIFIC.

Purpl Scientific has a page of terms related to cannabis testing. We’ll go over those below.

  • Cannabis (cannabis sativa) – genus of plants that include both hemp and marijuana, all of which contain some portion of cannabinoids like THC and CBD.
  • Potency – the amount of cannabinoids present in cannabis, generally measured as the weight of these cannabinoids relative to the whole. Potency is used to describe individual cannabinoid percentage (i.e. THC, THCa, CBD,…) and the total amounts (i.e. Total THC).
  • CBD (cannabidiol) – generally the most present cannabinoid after THC, but without the psychoactive effects. Typically used for therapeutic purposes like pain or anxiety.
  • CBDa (cannabidiolic acid) – the precursor to CBD. Generally found in and on cannabis plants, but doesn’t have much effect on the body. It becomes CBD after drying and/or heating.
  • THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) – the primary psychoactive cannabinoid in cannabis.
  • THCa (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) – the precursor to THC. Generally found in and on cannabis plants, but doesn’t have much effect on the body. It becomes THC after drying and/or heating
  • Total CBD – total amount of CBD and CBDa.
  • Total THC – total amount of THC and THCa.

What’s the strength of your cannabis?

A top priority for recreational and medicinal users is knowing the cannabis strength before stashing them. THC gives the psychoactive effect. Thus, a strain that is high in this chemical may be too strong and alter normal functions. Inexperienced users should be wary on this. Strains with plenty of CBD offer health and medical benefits without the high sensation that THC provides.

Potency transparency brought to you by the Purpl Pro

As emphasized by Purpl Inc., the end goal for cannabis cultivators is to make a consistent, high quality product that commands the best profit. Agriculture uses a lot of analytical technology to achieve the same ultimate aims. However, not all of that technology has made its way to cannabis cultivation.

Purpl Pro will allow the cultivators identify strains with their specific potency. In effect, will save great amount of time and effort in the grower’s level.

Consequently, knowledge in all levels – distributors, manufacturers, extractors, dispensaries and consumers is attainable. Each one can validate by having their own Purpl Pro.

purpl pro pocket size cannabis potency machine
Purpl Pro – the world’s first pocket size cannabis potency machine.

Current Limitation and Future Application

Provided that the current testing analysis use dried cannabis. Therefore, consumer level testing benefits those who use dry herbs excluding concentrates, extracts and edibles.

The ultimate goal is to analyze potency of every cannabis product available using a portable device with accurate simplified application. Thus, Purpl Inc. is pursuing research and development for extracts, moisture and terpene measurement using the same idea from Purpl Pro. They’re not resting on their laurels. Actually, companies like Purpl Scientific Inc. need everybody’s support if we want the cannabis industry to evolve thru the right path.

G Pen Nova Review: Conveniently Simple But Atomizer Gets Very Messy

g pen nova review

The G Pen Nova is a wax pen sold by Grenco Science. It’s primarily made for wax, but it may be used for dry herb as well. This discreet pen does give very smooth and tasteful hits. Even though I personally didn’t expect much from this pen, doing this G Pen Nova review did surprise me on how it hit, but there are a couple of flaws it has that can be improved to it.

Pros:

  • Smooth and tasty hits
  • Discreet with a sleek design
  • No hassle to clean
  • Long-lasting battery

Cons:

  • Collects a lot of reclaim
  • Takes time to heat up
  • Gets dirty often
  • Mouthpiece detaches apart without intention

Recommendations: Design the atomizer so it doesn’t collect as much reclaim around it. Also, giving it a stronger atomizer for stronger hits would make it better.

Check out my video review of it below along with a sample hit. Keep reading for the more in depth G Pen Nova review.

Sleek and smooth design to it

The G Pen Nova is made with silicone, giving it a great feel of comfort to it thought out the whole pen. From the body of the pen to the mouth piece, this pen has a firm and soft touch to it. It may tend to get dirty effortlessly but because it is made out of silicone, it’s really quick and easy to clean off.

Something that I should mention is how easy it is to get the mouth piece dirty. Depending where you place it, it may collect dust quickly. But good thing that it is really easy to clean due to the material it is made out of.

Easy and straightforward to use

The simplicity of this pen makes it very easy and convenient to use whenever and wherever you are. The G Pen Nova actually has the exact same options that the Saber vape pen does. Similarly easy to use, you will not have any complications with this pen.

Like many vape pens, five buttons to turn on or off and three buttons to change the type of voltage settings that you like. Them being 3.2V, 3.5V and 3.9V. A convenient feature it has the auto heat feature with a press of two buttons. It also turns off automatically to prevent it from overheating.

The atomizer would be better if it didn’t collect as much reclaim around it

The G Pen Nova comes with a simple ceramic, quartz bowl, nothing too special. When packing your dabs, it does have a small atomizer, giving you minimal space to pack enough dabs. It may pack enough for personal use, but it does often get very messy and oily after packing it a couple of times. As shown in the image below, this pen does tend to get oil and reclaim all over the sides and the bottom of the mouth piece.

g pen nova atomizer design

Aside from this, it can be easy to over pack as well as clog it. Something that may help with this is the built in ceramic stirring tool that comes with the mouth piece. This is a neat feature, especially if you’re smoking dry herbs, but it does get very oily and messy when smoking concentrates out of it. I personally just took it off and it made hitting it a lot smoother and easier.

g pen nova ceramic stirring tool
This ceramic tool is nice and all, but sliding it off will definitely give cleaner hits.

Decent strength and very tasty hits

The G pen nova does gives clean and smooth hits throughout the all three different voltage modes. Even though it isn’t as strong as I personally would like it to be, it does give unexpectedly good hits. But due to this, it does give very light and thin smoke hits. Besides that, this pen does give nice hits that allows you taste the terpenes, even with the highest voltage mode.

G Pen Nova is very efficient for a small pack

As mentioned earlier, this vape pen does have a small atomizer, giving it a small and light pack to it. Apart from this, it does last a lot more than I at least expected to. This pen is great if you want to conserve your oil for nice and decent hits. Unless you’re a heavy smoker, this small pack may last for a while, making it convenient when you are out with it.

Never tried packing this with dry herbs and I wouldn’t recommend to do so.

I never got a chance to pack this pen with flowers but I didn’t want to try it. It feel as if it would get very dirty and it wouldn’t even be worth the hit. Can’t really say much just because I didn’t see how it would hit, but with the atomizer being small and not as strong, Personally I would just stick with concentrate only.

This vape pen is very handy and portable, as well as discreet

This is something that I like a lot about the G Pen Nova, it is really convenient and you can take and fit it anywhere you go. The simplicity of it gives a look that makes it difficult to differentiate it with a normal vape pen to a wax pen.

The G Pen Nova would be a lot better if the mouth piece wouldn’t come off so easily

g pen nova design
Regardless of how many times I tried to attach it together, unless you clean thoroughly, the mouth piece gets sticky and difficult to close when dirty.

Although this discreet pen can fit anywhere, it should be noted that the mouth piece does get loose very quickly because of how much reclaim it collects from the outer of the atomizer. Because of this, the mouth piece sometimes won’t close completely, which bothered me a lot. This is a problem that I faced frequently, where I would put this pen in my pocket and the mouth piece kept detaching apart. Whether I tried to take it out or just leave it in my pocket, the mouth piece always came off, allowing dirt to get in the atomizer and your dabs.

Worth the price if you’re looking for simplicity and discretion

Like I said in the beginning of the article, I personally didn’t expect much from this pen. The G Pen Nova is worth $34.95, which is relatively cheap. It’s even cheaper at King Pen Vapes and instructions for that are below. If you are a heavy dabber, then this pen won’t really excite or surprise you. On the other hand, if you are just looking for something simple, easy and inexpensive that is also discreet enough to take with you go, then this can be a great temporary pen for you.

In conclusion, the G Pen Nova is a very convenient pen that is also portable. It can be worth the price if all you’re looking for is simplicity and convenience. If this pen didn’t collect as much reclaim around it and get messy, I would value it a lot more and give it more credit. Above all, the G Pen Nova is good for the price and the convenience. The cheapest G Pen Nova we could find was at KingPenVapes using coupon code KPV15 for 15% off. Total cost: $33.96.

Dabbing 101: Should You Be Dabbing Wax or Vaping Wax?

vaping wax vs dabbing wax

Why are People Using Concentrates?

Concentrates are the cutting edge of cannabis production and vaporizing technology. Every year the industry comes up with new and better extraction practices that produce better quality extracts. The era of the anonymous cartridges is over.

The trend is increasing of large grow operations producing huge amounts of cannabis. The highest quality hydroponic cannabis is cloned, perfected, and flash frozen to produce the most concentrated THC that man has ever known. These concentrates can be purchased as crystal clear THC which disappears completely when burned. Or sticky sauce. No matter what form your concentrate comes in, you can be confident that the best marijuana in America is being flash frozen and turned into high quality concentrate. So… once you’ve got your hands on some of the best herb in America … make sure you choose the best way to hit it!

Should I Vape Wax Concentrates?

The best way to consume your wax concentrates depends on the kind of concentrate that you have purchased. There are many kinds of wax concentrates, such as shatter, crumble, and distillate to name a few. In general, you should plan to vape your wax concentrates if:

  • It’s A Liquid If you’re dealing with a syringe full of liquid, you have likely purchased a form of distillate. Distillate should almost always be vaped (the exception would be those syringes which specifically state on the packaging that the tips are steel or heat resistant.) These distillates come in a plastic or glass syringe most of the time.
  • It’s Dry and Crumbly If you have a vape pen, or other small, handheld portable vaporizer, you’ll also be well served by vaping your concentrates which are sold as crystalline or crumble. These two forms of THC concentrate are essentially THC ‘budders’ and ‘waxes’ which have had all of their moisture removed. This makes them far dryer than other concentrates, and therefore less likely to leave any sort of residue on the coils or tank. The smaller the vape, the more difficult to maintain. Dry concentrates are also ideal for someone who is looking to stretch the life expectancy of an inexpensive vape pen or vaporizer.
  • You Have Shatter And a High-End Vape If you’ve made the investment in a not-so-portable desktop vaporizer which has an attachment for concentrates, you should most certainly use it to vape some high quality shatter. A system with water filtration will allow you to taste the terpenes suspended in the sticky chunks.
  • You Prefer to Buy Cartridges There are a lot of top of the line cannabis production houses which only produce cartridges. If you want to sample their wares, your only option is to purchase their pre-packaged cartridges. Cartridges can be used with a variety of batteries. Customize your vape experience with the right wattage or voltage to get the hit you want. Make sure you do not go too high on power, as you might blow the cartridge’s atomizer. Cartridges create the most care-free cannabis consumption imaginable. If this level of discretion is your ideal, you should definitely vape your concentrates.

Micro style wax pens came out around 2014.

How Do I Dab Wax Concentrates?

Dabbing is possibly the most labor intense way to consume any form of marijuana. It requires a significant amount of equipment, as well as a sizeable amount of know-how. Unlike most methods of consuming cannabis, this one presents the very real possibility of someone actually hurting themselves. If you’re going to dab your wax concentrates, you’re going to need to set aside a little time and plan it out, it’s not really a spur of the moment thing.

Dabbing can be accomplished using any number of devices, often called ‘rigs’. A rig often looks like a bubbler or small bong without affixed to the downstem. Instead of a bowl, the waterpipe has a surface or ‘nail’ made of titanium, ceramic, or quartz. (These materials have various advantages and disadvantages, the the ideal depends upon the concentrate that you’re dabbing and your preferred dabbing experience.)

silicone dab rig
Silicone dab rigs offer greater portability than glass.

In order to use the dab rig, the nail must be heated to the correct temperature, which is commonly done using a small blow torch. The sort of small kitchen torch used to caramelize sugar will do just fine. Some dabbers also make use of a point-and-read, hand-held thermometer, but most rely on the appearance of the nail. The most common advice is to wait until the surface is red hot, stop heating, then allow the surface to cool until it glows orange. Dabbers with electric nails can simply plug in the device and wait for the period of time prescribed by the manufacturer.

Once the nail reaches the right temperature, the dabber should apply a small amount of shatter or wax to the heated nail. Begin to inhale, then ‘cap’ the nail with the provided dome (aka carp cap). Continue to inhale as one typically would with any sort of bong or water pipe.

As you can see, dabbing is a fairly intensive process. Take it slow if you do not regularly dab, the effects are strong. Dabbing comes on very rapidly, and even the most filtered smoke will often have a harsh burn. Dab with the rig on a mat and place it on a table, rather than holding the equipment in one’s lap as is common with bongs.

dabbing wax vs vaping wax
Dabbing is a slow process. Don’t rush your dabs.

Dabbing Wax vs Vaping Wax

There are a lot of important things to consider before you decide to invest in a wax vape pen or dab rig. Dabbing may involve equipment which looks like a bong, but the maintenance is not the same. Regular dabbers should expect to regularly purchase supplies for torches and eventually some sort of hand-held thermometer. The residue left on the physical aspects of the water pipe is stickier than traditional resin and it requires somewhat more effort in order to clean.

Vaping is currently the cutting edge of cannabis paraphernalia technology and improving tanks and batteries is a high priority for the cannabis vape market. Vapes do much more than they did five years ago, producing stronger hits without leaking. They are incredibly portable and discrete, to a level that permanently changes your cannabis consumption experience.

Still not sure what equipment you should go with? Here’s a few fast facts about dabbing vs vaping

  • Vape Pens are simple to use and designed to be incredibly user friendly. Some vapes have color-coded temperature control, one-button controls, and a universal battery type. Some vapes allow you to control the temperature of your vape by individual degrees, control the vape via a phone app and even vape while the unit charges. The number of features and options makes it easy to find a unit you love.
  • Dabbing allows you to consume every type of concentrate, regardless of water saturation, extraction method or texture. Solid shatter and liquid distillate can both be dabbed. Creamy, sticky, budder can be dabbed. If you’re willing to spend the time and money to set up a dab rig, you can get a great hit off of any form of concentrate.
  • Vapes are made to be portable. Vapes can also be disposable. None of the hassle involved with maintaining a vaporizer or vape pen comes with a disposable. A vape pen can be used to vape nearly any sort of concentrate when it is disposable, since one doesn’t have to worry about removing the residue later.
  • Dabbing has become a social phenomenon. Just as many groups of friends gather around water pipes and bongs, so do many groups of friends gather and take dabs. The ritual and routine involved makes it a great activity for a small group of friends gathered on a couch.

Should I Vape or Dab?

YES. At the end of the day, the real question is what you like best and what best suits your lifestyle. If you have time to pull out an elaborate rig and dab every time you want to hit your concentrates, be my guest. If you prefer the ease and portability of a vape, that’s just fine too. The most important thing to do is make sure that you invest in quality equipment. What does that mean?

  • Buy a vaporizer that is designed to vape the substances that you like to vape. Don’t buy a dry herb vape pen if you like liquid distillate. Take hits on a vape made for the right type of concentrates you are using.
  • Buy a thermometer. If you dab without a way to determine the temperature of your nail you’re going to end up wasting a lot of product by burning it into nothing. It isn’t going to taste good and it isn’t going to have any of the effects you’re looking for. Dabbing isn’t cheap to begin with, if you’re going to go for it, make the investment.
  • Buy for the life you have, not for the life you want. If you usually smoke at home, don’t buy a vape pen because you think you’ll go hiking “someday”. Likewise, if you like to consume on the go, don’t invest in a fancy home-dab-rig because you think you’ll “start dabbing at home.” Know yourself, and buy whatever will fit most comfortably into your life.

Saber Vape Pen Review : Efficiently and Discretely Satisfying

saber vape pen review

The Saber vape pen is made primarily for wax and other cannabis extracts. Our review revealed that this pen is great for smooth and discrete hits. Beware though, although it gives gentle and satisfying hits, it is very sneaky and will get you baked without you realizing it.

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Magnetic features
  • Gives lasting and smooth hits
  • Comes with 2 coils
  • Has three different heating temperature levels

Cons:

  • Needs a specific charger to it
  • Gets dirty often from glass tip
  • Glass tip needs to be cleaned frequently

Recommendation: Switch the mouth piece to some other sort of material that wont break or dirty up that easily and also change the current charger to something more convenient.

Below check out my video review of the Saber. Keep reading on for the more in depth review.

Build was sturdy and designed very well

saber vape pen design
The Saber has such a sleek design to it, making it very simple, fast and smooth to to pack your wax.

First of, the Saber has a magnetic feature to it, making it very easy to clean, charge and pack. This has to be my personal favorite thing about this pen.

As a result, it detaches apart in two pieces which happen to be the mouth piece and the atomizer. Something neat that the Saber has is a screen in the mouth piece, making it difficult to catch any reclaim on the glass. This magnetic feature makes the cleaning process a lot simpler.

saber vape pen mouth piece
With this screen, you will never have to worry about any sort of bubbling or dabs getting on your lips.

Although this makes it easy to clean, the mouth piece does get dirty quickly

That’s the one thing that I don’t like about the design, the mouth piece does get dirty very effortlessly. Whether you take hits constantly or just leave it in you pocket, the glass mouth piece will get either really foggy and cloudy, or it will collect a lot of dust to it. I recommend to just clean it constantly to prevent this from happening.

The Saber vape pen is easy to use and simple to pack

Having different heating modes, the Saber is a very straightforward pen to use. Three click to change the mode from a low to hot temperature. A cool feature it has is the ability to auto heat with just a press of two buttons, maintaining the heat that you specifically chose.

On the other hand, packing this pen has never been more simple. Just pack any sort of THC concentrate and puff away! As simple as packing and puffing. An interesting feature that the coil has from the Saber is its rugged surface on the sides. You will never have to worry about your oil getting stuck on any side again nor any reclaim.

Depending the type of atomizer you use, the Saber gives smooth and clean hits

This pen comes with two different atomizers, one of them being a dual quartz core coil and the other being a ceramic donut. They’re both very smooth and tasteful, but I’ll chose the quartz coil any day over the ceramic one.

Saber vape pen atomizers
Both turned to be very efficient, but the quartz hit way stronger while the ceramic donut vaporized your oil more.

The dual quartz core is my preferred coil

This atomizer gives great hits that last longer than you’d expect. It may not give the thickest smoke, but it does burn smoothly and evenly. You rarely burn through your dabs and it is difficult to over pack and clog it. If you have more of a thicker density wax, than I recommend to use this coil for best hits.

The donut was an unexpected, disappointing coil

For my preference, the donut coil that the Saber came with was out of choice and use. Personally, I felt it was a waste of time and concentrate, it just burnt through my dabs. It vaporizes a lot more, giving it a very light hit to it with low smoke density. This coil is more if you want to taste the terpenes than anything. Wasted shatter was used to experiment with this coil. But if packed with distillate, it probably would hit better.

The Saber is a very resourceful and discreet pen to take on the go

The design allows you to take this pen anywhere you go. Also, because of the smooth hits that it gives, this makes it very discreet, leaving little to no scent behind.

The only down side of it being portable is, as mentioned earlier, the fact of how easy it is for the glass tip to get filthy. Due to the smooth and sleek design, putting it just anywhere may damage, scratch or even crack the paint or glass easily.

For the price, it is definitely worth its value

The cost of the Saber is $44.99, which I believe is a great price for this pen. Due to the efficiency of this product, the value of the Saber vape pen is definitely worth every penny, from discretion to the design. In fact, comparing the Saber to the Ceram-X, the Saber would be considered a steal. Having two different types of coils, hitting just as smooth, giving stronger hits, thicker smoke and being cheaper.

saber vape pen
The Saber vape pen is well worth the investment if you need something quick and convenient to carry anywhere.

In conclusion, The Saber vape pen is a very easy to use pen that you can travel with anywhere you go. For discretion use and its simplicity, this pen will not disappoint any daily dabbers. It is well worth the money if you’re looking for something that is quick and efficient to carry around. You can learn more and get yours here.

Vape Naked Cartridge Review: Anonymously & Mysteriously Interesting

vape naked review
vape naked cartridge, blackberry kush had a nice sweet taste to it, although it was somewhat burnt

Vape Naked is a mysterious cartridge for the origins of it is unknown and anonymous. The background of this cartridge is no where to be found. With the right type of battery, it will have sweet, long lasting hits. I used the Ceram-X vape pen battery, giving it smooth and light hits. It does have a savory taste to it, but it isn’t to be fully trusted. Here is our in depth review of the Vape Naked cartridge in the Blackberry Kush strain. We will start with the video review and keep reading for more in depth information.

The Vape Naked isn’t made properly or professionally

The packaging itself made it seem like this cart is unofficial in my opinion. It has doesn’t have any information on the box regarding the THC percentage, no serial number, it doesn’t even have any background on where to find the company itself. Below is a video review of the Vape Naked THC cartridge. Keep reading beyond that for the in depth review.

vape naked cartridge with the ceram-x battery
The vape naked may not be the best, recommended cartridge, but it does give decent smooth and light hits that get you when you least expect it.

Also, after a couple of hits, the mouth piece came off easily. I didn’t realize this until I noticed that it wasn’t straight on. It was on a slant, so I pulled it off with ease.

This cartridge had a weak atomizer, affecting the quality of hits that you take
The vape naked had a weak atomizer, making it easy to disarm as well as giving it lighter hits and light smoke.

Oil quality is probably the best feature of this cartridge

Although the Vape Naked is made careless, the distillate does get you high. I personally recommend anywhere between 3-9 watts (4-5 watts to get the full taste of it). This cart has more of a thicker oil, which made it harder to hit sometimes. Even though the Vape Naked gives rough hits, it does still get you high. You may not feel it at first but that’s because it does creep up on you.

With the strength being unofficial, the Vape Naked didn’t taste as potent

There is no telling what the exact thc percent is on this cartridge. You can’t find any of this information in the package itself. With this being said, my thoughts on the Vape Naked is that it does have some strength to it, but it is more tasty than strong. The terpenes were more flavorful, while the thc creeped in slowly. Maybe it was because of the weak atomizer that affected the hits, giving it light smoke.

It does get you high after a while of puffing on it. Depending on your tolerance, it can take anywhere between 5 – 10+ hits to actually feel a buzz. But be aware, it does get to you unexpectedly.

Vape Naked Blackberry Kush was tasteful, but would’ve been better without the burnt after taste

This particular Vape Naked cartridge did have a sweet taste to it. But it did have an after taste to it that made it taste somewhat like burnt. This was probably due to the coil overheating because of the atomizer. Like I mentioned earlier, the atomizer did have a weak built to it. If it weren’t for that, it would taste great.

It also has a sweet smell to it, which I like a lot. Smoking this cartridge is great for trying to smoke and be discreet with it. You can be smoking this anywhere and the only thing that you’ll be smelling like is blackberries.

Here are all the flavors that Vape Naked have (as far as we know):

  • Blackberry Kush
  • Jack Herer
  • OG Kush
  • Pink Panties
  • Grandaddy Purple
  • Girl Scout Cookies
  • Sour Tangie
vape naked cartridges
The packaging could use some work as could the cart itself.

In the beginning, Vape Naked would waste the oil

At first the Vape Naked cartridge would tend to bubble up the oil a lot, making it more difficult to hit. At one point, the oil even jumped onto my mouth burning my tongue. This problem did go away after multiple hits, but I still thought that the atomizer wasn’t strong at all throughout the whole cartridge. It does vary on the type of battery mod you use, but in general it gave light smoke.

The number of puffs were decent. The Vape Naked, depending the type of battery you use, burns smoothly and slowly. I’d say it gives around 200 hits.

As mentioned earlier, it was fairly easy to disarm this cartridge. While disarming the cartridge itself, I started to realize why it the Vape Naked didn’t give the strongest hits or thick puffs.

vape naked atomizer disarmed
The Vape Naked atomizer wasn’t as strong as other cartridges.

Personally wouldn’t put a whole lot of value to this cartridge

If professionally made, the Vape Naked would be a lot more trustworthy. The oil quality can is decent, but the build to it and the packaging is the main thing to focus on improving. Don’t get me wrong, it did get me high, but only after a while of chiefing on it.

Also, it is a bit strange to me that this cartridge is easy to disarm. For many reasons, this is probably found in certain markets and illegal states only. This makes me feel a little bit unsure about the oil quality and what exactly is in it. But from personal experience, the oil is decent. Although, the cartridge itself could be a lot better.

In conclusion,  I personally wouldn’t invest in Vape Naked unless I would want to try something new. This cartridge did give a good buzz but it just isn’t credible at all. The flavors are nice and they vary. Maybe dabbing the distillate itself would make it a bit better, but this still would not be my primary choice of smoke.

The Ceram-X gives very light smoke and smooth hits

The Ceram-x vape pen is perfect if you're looking for flavorful and soothing hits
This wax pen great for calming and alleviating hits

Such flavorful and tasty hit, you’d even be surprised that you’re hitting a dap pen. The Ceram-x gives very discrete smoke, so smooth that it will literally creep up on you. Personal preference of thick smoke, this pen is no where near as close to as a rig, but these smooth hits may pack a heavy hit. This pen is basically made for terpenes with the way it burns smoothly.Having a perfect airflow, this pen is made for the light smoke and practically is a vaporizer.

It’s only worth it if you’re in it for the terpenes

"With

I personally believe that the Ceram-x is based strictly for flavors, but every hit is guaranteed for a smack in the face. If you’re looking for thick smoke this is not your pen, but if you’re looking for a discrete, flavory hits, the smoke will always come down smooth, never a raspy hit.

In conclusion, heavy, concentrate users would be better off hitting rigs. Unless you’re in it for strictly flavors and smooth hits, this is your vape pen. I personally believe it is pricey for this kind of pen and would like it to be a little lower, but overall a really great vape pen you can take anywhere on the go. You can get it here!

Cannabiotix Vape Cartridge Review: Decent, But Expected A Lot More

cannabiotix vape review
Cannabiotix vape carts hace nice packaging, but not enough data.

Cannabiotix is cultivator in California and Nevada. Their buds are some of the best in the world. Their cartridge turned out to be decent, but not at the same level as their weed. In this Cannabiotix vape cartridge review we tested out two of their vape carts and was left wanting a little more.

Update 7/14/2020: Cannabiotix has upgraded their hardware to CCELL. Should be better than what we had in this review.

Cannabiotix vape cartridges are good, just not best of best

Overall Cannabiotix makes a good cartridge. The keyword is good. From Cannabiotix I really expected best of best. I was expecting to blow away vape carts from Select Oil, Kabunky, and Stiiizy out of the water. One of the strains I tried was Banana Treez and I forgot the other one’s name. See below for the video that summarizes this Cannabiotix vape review.

Wish it was like their flower

Right now their flower is world class, maybe the best in the world. I have never tried a Cannabiotix flower that was not excellent. Their vape cartridges are just not that same level. They are by no means bad or awful, they just are not as great as the flower.

Design and Build Quality: Should have used CCELL

Cannabiotix vape cartridges use a double coil cartridge system that appears to be the same one Rove cartridges use. The hits are pretty clean off this thing and it does taste very good. However, the hits are not super strong.

cannabiotix vape
Love the look of the cartridges. Looks very sturdy, but this is the first one I have ever dropped and broken.

It should say on the packaging the battery needed

The first mistake here is there is nothing on the box to indicate it will not work with a regular vape battery. I tried firing up a cartridge with my CCELL Palm and it did not work. I switched over to a mod and upped the wattage to 5.5 and it worked much better. This cartridge sucks with non-mod batteries and they should warn people of that.

Packaging should state wattage, volts, something

Another problem is: how far can these carts go on wattage? There is nothing to indicate on the box what these cartridge should be run out. I tried their website, it did not work at all. I hit up Cannabiotix on Instagram and they never replied. Not sure that they even know what the right settings are. Without the right settings, we can’t get the max out of the cartridge and risk blowing the atomizer.

Cannabiotix vape system uses a coiled, wicked atomizer

Below is a breakdown of the atomizer. You can see it is using a wicked and coil system. What I really liked here is it did actually have double coils as promised, but the coiles are not set in the same way as a wax pen like the Kind Pen Dream. Instead, it is one after another in a straight line. This does ensure extra efficiency was what is not absorbed by the first coil is absorbed by the second.

cannabiotix vape cartridge breakdown
Wicked atomizers are not the preferred method.

However, a wickless system is preferred to a wicked system almost every time. The Cannabiotix vape cart also had no burning on the wick. We saw burning in our review of BaM’s G Pen Gio pods and it negatively effected taste.

Airflow was really good

The Cannabiotix vape cart had great airflow. Vape airflow is an important part of getting a good hit out of any vaping device. Adjustable airflow is a cool feature to have on a cartridge and we hope to see more of this in the future. Take a look below at the large air hole on the mouthpiece below.

cannabiotix vape mouthpiece
Airflow on the cartridge was excellent.

It broke when I dropped it

I have dropped a lot of cartridges and I break a phone at least twice a year. The Cannabiotix cart could not withstand a drop on it’s own. The glass did not feel as sturdy as the CCELL cartridge glass. Also, the extra weight from the additional metal I think helped it to break. In its defense, most of the other cartridges I have dropped have been on batteries. I have dropped CCELLs on their own probably 4-5 times though and it never cracked. Might be lucky though.

Oil Quality was pretty good on the Cannabiotix vape cartridge, but not the best like their weed

cannabiotix cartridge review
Solid build on the cart.

I like the oil, but not so much the cartridge it was in. I switched the oil over to a CCELL cart and you could feel it a lot more. The oil was good and this cart is definitely in the top half of ones I have tried on the strength scale.

Still though, both carts did not seem nearly as strong as Select Oil or filling my own cartridge using one of AMA’s distillates. Both of those are usually available in the same places Cannabiotix cartridges are.

Their weed is best of best

My hopes were really really high for Cannabiotix carts. The flowers they make are quite possibly the world’s best right now. This cartridge is good, but it’s not best ever good like the Strawberry Lemonade Kabunky vape cartridge. Both companies are proof great flower does not mean same level of extracts and vice versa from each cultivator. Kabunky bud is not that great, but some of their extracts are top notch. Cannabiotix bud is world class, but the vape cartridge is just good, not great.

Cannabiotix vape carts were pretty strong, not super strong

I thought the cartridge was a bit of a limiting factor here, and it might be because the wattage I am using is too low. Unfortunately, Cannabiotix puts no wattage info on the cartridge box, their website is down, and they do not respond on Instagram. Maybe it could be strong if I ramp it up but I also risk ruining the cartridge.

The other downside is that because it is top airflow it just does not work with some batteries, like my normal go to the CCELL Palm.

Swapped the oil to a CCELL cartridge to get a fairer comparison

Got frustrated with the Cannabiotix vape cart and I dumped it into a CCELL cart and hit it with the CCELL Palm. There we go, now I got a much better feel for the oil. It was pretty strong.

Comparing strength to other prefilled THC vape cartridge brands

It was not as strong as carts from Select Oil, Kabunky (when not in the old CCELL carts), or getting AMA syringes and filling up blank CCELLs.

I felt Cannabiotix was stronger than vape cartridges from: Brass Knuckles, Kushy Punch, Polaris, Cobra Extracts, and the oil in Pure Vape syringes.

Overall, I would put Cannabiotix strength in the middle high range, which matches the 77% THC content of one of the cartridges. That is not bad at all, but just not what I expected from some of the best weed cultivators in the world.

Taste was ok on the Cannabiotix cartridge

Taste on the vape cartridge was not great or bad. Again, their flower tastes great. The cart tastes OK. I rather take more strength than more added terpenes though.

Efficiency was top notch on the Cannabiotix vape cartridge

Despite the wattage not being clear, the cartridge was efficient. The holes are placed low which makes for great efficiency.

Number of Puffs on the Cannabiotix vape cart was really high

cannabiotix vape box back
Banana Treez was decent.

Lots of puffs from this oil even when I switched it over to the CCELL cart. It was less thick than AMA’s distillate but substantially thicker than that found on the Pure Vape syringe. I liked the consistency, just would prefer a better cartridge or more specific instructions.

Value was decent, but that might be NuWu

NuWu dispensary has great prices on a lot of oil items and cartridges. I got two Cannabiotix vape cartridges for $39 a pop for half grams. That is pretty good for Nevada pricing. For AMA syringes I usually pay $40 a half gram (except for a super $20/half gram sale once at Nevada Made Marijuana Laughlin). For Select Oil cartridges I usually am paying about $55 and for Kabunky $45 on sale days. I would take either of those three options and pay a little more than buy the Cannabiotix cartridges again. NuWu does have fairly regular sales on Cannabiotix products though.

cannabiotix bottom of cartridge
The vape cart’s bottom connection has a good build as well, but it won’t work right on a non-mod battery.

In conclusion, I was hoping this Cannabitiox vape review would be about how great they were. Unfortunately, it is more about disappointment from it not being the same level as their flower. Really though it is not a bad cartridge. It is a good vape cart, just not a great one. Normally I would say you can get more information at their website, but it has been down for a month now. Check out the Cannabiotix Instagram page (or their Nevada page) for some cool pics.

Pure Vape THC Oil Review : Good Quality Oil For The Price

pure vape thc oil review

It took a long time to find Pure vape THC oil syringes in stock. Finally we got to test them out. They turned out to be a decently strong  oil and the price was excellent. Our Pure Vape THC oil review revealed they are not the strongest, but it is good for the price.

pure vape thc oil
Pure Vape says their THC oil syringes are in the 80s for THC percentage, we think it will test lower.

Since Pure Vape syringes are so popular and many have asked for this review, well be doing a review of Pure Vape syringes with input from two of our reviewers. Points will be the average of both reviewer’s scores. All scores are based on a 10 point scale. Looking for something stronger? Check out the W Vapes syringe.

Pure Vape THC oil is great for the price

We found Pure Vape THC oil to be priced well across the board. Dispensaries that carried them all over California had low prices compared to other syringes. Strength-wise it is not the strongest ever. Vader Extracts and W Vapes both make stronger distillate in our experience. Both cost twice as much as Pure Vape’s syringes unless they are on sale.

Pure Vape THC Oil Quality was good, but not the best

Bert: Pure Vape syringes had decent oil quality. I tried out two different syringes. One was Lemon Haze and the other OG. I would not say this is best of best oil, but definitely above average. I do think when the testing comes back this will show a lower strength than what is reported. This does not seem like an over 80% THC vape cartridge. I give it a 7.5.

Jesse: Those after strength and affordability will be satisfied with the above average potency of Pure Vape THC oil. The density of the THC oil from PURE is not as thick as others such as Americanna and Stiizy. Although the added terpenes dilute this distillate oil, it also compliments its effects. I notice the Pure Vape THC oil vaped a bit quicker than others, especially in the Plug and Play pod. I score the quality of this THC oil an 8.5/10.

Taste was good across the board on the Pure Vape THC oil syringes

Bert: Pure Vape THC oil tasted pretty good. Better than most random syringes I have tried. Way better tasting than almost all CO2 oils. The W Vapes THC oil syringe is the only CO2 that comes close to the Pure Vape syringe on flavor. Vader Extract’s Coconutz syringe and both of BaM’s G Pen Gio pods syringes both tasted better than Pure Vape’s THC oil. I score it an 8 on taste.

Jesse: I tried a strawberry cough and lemon haze from Pure Vape. The lemon haze was my favorite, it has limonene terpenes added to it for additional therapeutic benefits. This terpene has antidepressant effects for those who are looking for a mood enhancer. Lemon haze is a sativa dominate THC oil, it can help focus and provide energy. The taste is definitely superior to a majority of other THC oils available. However, it’s not as good as the distillate inside of Brass Knuckles cartridges. The taste is excellent and pleasant. I score taste an 8/10.

Pure Vape thc oil is decent, but not the best.

Pure Vape syringes are pretty strong, but not the strongest

Bert: Strongest syringe for the price. Keyword being the price. Syringes mentioned above from Vader were substantially stronger. Oil in the Kabunky vape cartridge, Justdab and BAM Gio pods were all stronger. I am not trying to say it is weak, just that there is better out there than Pure Vape THC oil. I have to hit this like 7-8 times to get a good feeling, while it takes me about 5 hits with a good Vader or AMA extract. Many people say Pure is the best/strongest, I can objectively say it is not. 7.5 for strength.

Jesse: There are distillate oils that leave you unsatisfied and chasing for a stronger high with more puffs. I experienced this with big daddy’s distillate. Fortunately, I didn’t need any more than a few puffs from a refilled Plug and Play pod and CCELL cartridge to be satisfied. I score THC potency effect an 8.5/10. One vape of this cannabis oil will provide instant relief and energy to continue any task.

Pure Vape Syringes Are The Best Value

Bert: You cannot beat Pure Vape syringes on value. I paid $60 for two full grams as a first-time patient special. Normally they were $40 a gram. I pay $40 a half gram in Las Vegas for Vader’s syringes when there is no sales. Definitely a 10 on value.

Jesse: I was able to get a gram of Pure vape oil for $45 including tax. However, I can usually get a discount when I purchase more than one with this weed delivery service in the bay area, 10 collective. I can usually get 2 grams for $80 including tax or 3 grams for $110. Although, I was informed these deals are not forever so get them while they last. Pure deserves a 10/10 for value.

Tip: It doesn’t hurt to ask for deals even when there isn’t any posted on a cannabis delivery service on weedmaps.com.

Using Pure Vape THC oil to refill cartridges or pods

pure vape refill
Refilling was easy since Pure Vape THC oil is viscous.

Bert: Pure Vape oil was viscous and easy to fill carts with. I used a CCELL cartridge and it filled up quite easily. Also, I tried it on the Stiiizy and that was easy to fill too. The high viscosity made it go in without having to heat it up like I do on thicker extracts.

pure vape oil review

Jesse: Not all THC oil syringes are the same with some being more efficient dispensing oil than others. I had trouble dispensing THC oil with both Big Daddy’s distillate and Americanna cartridges. Fortunately, Pure vape syringe didn’t give me any issues refilling my Plug and Play vape pods.

Overall thoughts on the Pure Vape syringe review

Bert: I would get Pure Vape syringes again, especially if there is nothing better on the shelf. Price wise you cannot beat it and the overall quality is good. They are not the strongest syringes out there, but far from being the weakest. Dollar for dollar Pure Vape is one of the best syringes out there. I rather pay a bit more for higher end stuff though and have to hit it less. I find more expensive stuff in the end often ends up costing the same if you have to hit is half as much.

Jesse: I am always looking for a good Sativa THC oil that can give me energy and help me focus. I found that with the Lemon haze strain from Pure vapes. There isn’t anything else better for the same price in my opinion. It’s important to note how smooth this distillate oil is when vaped. This is a high-quality THC oil at a cheap price. I highly recommend refilling a CCELL cartridge and using a CCELL Palm battery for the best results.
