SteamCloud Micro Review: Great on Clones

Here we check out the SteamCloud Micro. Basically, it’s a micro style battery but with 510 threading instead of the original micro atomizers made popular by the old school original Micro G. This battery turned out not to be the very discreet or cool looking, but it works particularly well on a popular type of CCELL clone.

Pros:

  • Good airflow
  • Best battery for a popular CCELL clone
  • Low price

Cons:

  • Not discreet
  • Not so great on real CCELL carts
  • No warranty

Recommendation: Make it more discreet. A cover over the cartridge would make this look like a standard micro battery, but it may need to be made thicker to fit a cover.

UPDATE 8/27/19:

We received a comment regarding Steamcloud about their warranty process. It turns out that their warranty isn’t as extensive as other companies, which became an issue after a Steamcloud device ceased functioning a week after purchase. We have reached out to Steamcould and they have claimed that they are changing the warranty. But as of now, this situation does decrease their value score.

Current wording on SteamCloud’s website has the following:

Warranty Disclaimer This website and the materials and products on this website are provided “as is” and without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permissible pursuant to applicable law, SteamCloudVapes.com disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.”

SteamCloud Micro is a compact cart battery that hits best on a popular CCELL clone

steamcloud micro
Not that discreet looking, but it does hit better than anything else on the attached CCELL clone.

The most notable thing about this battery is how well it hits on a particular CCELL clone. That clone version is the same one currently used by Kabunky and Lucid Oils. For some reason, this battery just hits those particularly well, better than any other battery I have tried. When it comes to regular CCELLs it does OK, but still is outperformed by other higher end options like the Vessel battery.

Packaging is standard.

Design could use one big improvement

The design on this vape should be changed to include a cover on the cartridge portion, otherwise everyone knows I am hitting on THC carts. Not bad for a legal state, but it would be cool to have the option to put a piece over that so it looks more discreet.

Airflow design is better than expected

Airflow on the SteamCloud Micro battery is way better than you would expect. This has been the best battery for one of the most popular CCELL clones. Airflow on real CCELLs is OK, but not super stellar. See below a picture of the type of clone this battery works well on.

steamcloud micro 510 connection
510 connection instead of the Micro G style.

Three heat settings:  3.2, 3.7, or 4.0 volts

Standard choices on the heat settings. I crank it up to 4.0 volts, which is the red setting, and leave it on that.

Build on the SteamCloud Micro is pretty standard for a micro battery

Nothing particularly great or bad about the build quality. It has that same rubbery feeling that has been around for years now. The battery can take drops without breaking as I did drop it a few times.

Battery life impressive for size, charging is easy Micro USB

steamcloud micro usb
Micro USB makes it easy to find chargers.

Battery lasts quite well considering how little it is. 360maH is not huge but definitely more than enough needed for hitting cartridges for a couple days.

Charging is by Micro USB. I would like to see USB-C, but it’s not like anything else vape besides the Carta V  is USB-C right now anyway, and that is $250.

Strength is great on the clone, OK on real CCELL

Below is a picture of a CCELL clone. This variation is popular and has two O-rings below where the oil is sitting.

ccell clone
Airflow was greatly improved on the clone when it was used with the Micro.

The SteamCloud Micro, due to its good airflow on the CCELL clone brings out good strong hits on it, stronger than much more expensive batteries. However, on real CCELLs, the SteamCloud Micro just performs OK. It does not perform as well as the Silo, Palm, Vessel, PCKT One Plus, or SteamCloud EVOD on real CCELLs.

Below you will see a clone on the left and real CCELL on the right. Note that the real CCELL only has one O-ring below where the oil sits.

ccell clone vs real ccell
Both have very similar build, but most of the time the real CCELL is better.

At $16.99 with free shipping it’s a great value

Can’t go wrong at that price. I would get this battery just as a backup for when I run into those particular clone carts. The performance is that much better to justify having this battery on hand.

Concluding our SteamCloud Micro review

Overall, the SteamCloud Micro is a solid battery. It would not be my first choice for authentic CCELLs, but for a particular CCELL clone it turned out to be the best battery out there for it. It’s not very discreet, but it is compact. Battery life was also better than expected. If you would like to get a SteamCloud Micro you can pick one up at NY Vape Shop.

SteamCloud EVOD Review: Lasts Long

steamcloud evod review

Here we review the SteamCloud EVOD battery by NY Vape Shop. This vape has a longer battery life than many of the made-for-cartridges batteries but still hits well.

Pros:

  • Fits almost all cartridges
  • Long battery life
  • Decent hits

Cons:

  • Styling is a bit dated
  • No warranty

Recommendation:  The styling on this could be updated to make it better looking.

The SteamCloud EVOD is a solid build, long lasting battery

Overall, the SteamCloud EVOD does not fail to deliver on hitting THC cartridges. It does everything most anyone would want a battery to do. It also has a good range of settings to customize your hit how you want it. Below you can see our video review of the SteamCloud EVOD and keep reading on for the more in depth review.

Simple design like other eCig style batteries

steamcloud evod
I really liked this button.

Design is really simple on the SteamCloud EVOD. It reminds me of the standard original eCig kits when they first came out but made batter. Airflow is pretty standard. It is not lacking in any capacity but there is nothing special about the airflow either. Definitely does the job well. I can’t say the design is on the same level as the PCKT One Plus or Vessel, but it’s also a fraction of either’s cost.

Variable voltage up to

The twistable voltage settings make it easy to turn up the heat and hit strength. While most batteries now have you push buttons, this easy old school option is a bit refreshing.

steamcloud evod voltage setting
Easy twisting on the bottom to turn up the heat.

Button is a little different than other EVOD batteries

The button on this one felt a little different than other EVODs. A bit more solid feeling and it does not wiggle as much as some of the cheaper options out there.

Build quality is really solid, better than comparable batteries

Even though the EVOD looks like some of the batteries we have seen at the gas station, it definitely is of high build quality. Feel is solid and the button is better than what you get on a standard random battery. No complaints on build quality at all on this thing.

Battery lats a long time, charging is standard 510 USB

ny vape shop evod
510 connection fits all standard THC vape carts

The battery uses the same 510 USB charger we have seen from back when eCigs started. It has a light on it to let you know when it’s full charged. The best part about charging the SteamCloud EVOD is you barely ever have to charge it. The battery is 900mah and that lasts quite a while. Most of the for-cartridge batteries have less maH, such at the PCKT One Plus at 550maH or the Vessel at 240maH.

Strength is good at higher settings

The SteamCloud EVOD hits well. The battery can be easily changes to higher settings and then it hits pretty hard. If you want a low hit you can also get a pretty low temp hit out of it at the lower settings.

Value is not bad at all a $19.99

The price on this battery is pretty low. It’s a bit cheaper than standard retail price for the CCELL Palm and Silo. There are some cheaper EVOD batteries out there but this one does have a better push button and it has a warranty – see update.

Concluding our SteamCloud EVOD review…

Overall, the SteamCloud EVOD is a solid battery. The battery life is extremely long and its compatible with almost any THC or CBD vape cartridge. It’s not the highest end battery or the absolute best airflow, but it does the job of hitting carts well. You can get the SteamCloud EVOD here at NY Vape Shop.

SteamCloud Mini 2.0 Review: Compact, Discreet, Works With Many Carts

steamcloud mini 2.0 review
The SteamCloud Mini 2.0 by NY Vape Shop is now it’s second revision. It turned out to be a reliable battery that works with a variety of cartridges. After reviewing the SteamCloud Mini 2.0 for over a month, it will be one of my go to batteries for vape cartridges.
Pros:
  • Works with a variety of cartridges
  • 3 voltage settings
  • Includes wax attachment
Cons:
  • No charging indicator light
  • Wax atomizer may have solder
  • No warranty
Recommendations: Make a longer magnetic adapter so it hits better on CCELL cartridges.

SteamCloud Mini proved to be a versatile vape battery

I tried the first SteamCloud Mini and now it is in it’s second revision. It does seem to hit a bit harder than the first one, but other than that they appear the same. Having a button push on the SteamCloud Mini 2.0 makes it a versatile battery. It’s able to hit a good variety of cartridges, but it will not hit Rove style carts.
See the video review of the SteamCloud Mini 2.0 below. Keep reading on for the more in depth review.
SteamCloud Mini vs SteamCloud Mini 2.0
I before used the original SteamCloud Mini. The difference between the original and 2.0 is adjustable voltage.
The original only had one setting, while the new one has three. This is a great addition as it gives you more customization and helps hit a wide range of cartridges better.

Design was pretty basic and comparable to other batteries
The design on the SteamCloud Mini is pretty standard. It’s a small battery that fits CCELLs and most standard size cartridges. It comes with a magnetic adapter, and here is one thing I found that can be improved. Using CCELL carts, the SteamCloud Mini works better using a longer adapter than it came with. I used the mid size adapter from the PCKT One and got better results than using the standard adapter. The airflow improved.
steamcloud mini 2.0 with cartridge
Here is the SteamCloud 2.0 using a regular magnetic adapter.

The design flaw on the SteamCloud Mini that was most prevalent was when the battery dies. There’s no sign that the battery is low or about to die, it just dies off and you have no power. I also found that using a small extended adapter from another vape battery gave better hits on CCELL carts. Below is a picture of how much longer the cartridge looks using that adapter.
Steamcloud Mini 2.0 with longer adapter
Here is the SteamCloud Mini 2.0 using a longer magnetic adapter.
The placement higher of the bottom airflow CCELLs made for a slightly better hit.

The wax atomizer had a decent design and it’s very discreet

This vape cartridge battery comes with a discreet wax atomizer as well. The tank is designed in the shape of an oil tank.

steamcloud mini 2.0 wax attachment
The wax tank is a discreet size and looks like an oil tank.
This atomizer hit harder than expected. Fairly efficient and hard hitting, it was a nice add on to the SteamCloud package. The mouthpiece had a screen on it that keeps any wax from going up into your mouth.
steamcloud mini 2.0 wax attachment mouthpiece
Nice design on the mouthpiece of the wax atomizer.

Build Quality on the SteamCloud Mini was decent

I used the SteamCloud Mini for a couple months before writing this review, which gave me a good feel for the build quality. It did not have any issues build quality wise, but it did not feel as solid as the PCKT One. It hits better though, which is more important.
The wax atomizer that comes with the battery had OK build quality. It hit decent, but it appears there are some solder marks on the coil.
steamcloud mini 2.0 wax atomizer
The coil looked like it had some solder on it, but otherwise seemed fine.

Battery Life was not so great, but it’s easy to charge

The SteamCloud Mini 2.0 did not have a long battery life, nor did the original SteamCloud Mini. There were a couple frustrating moments where the battery did die unexpectedly. It reminds me of a cell phone, you should charge it whenever you are by a charger. I felt like I was getting maybe 1/3 to 1/2 through a half gram THC cartridge before the SteamCloud Mini 2.0 would die.

Charging was simple as it charges with a Micro USB cable. Speed of charging was average and comparable with other small sized vape batteries. A plus on the charging side is that you can stand the battery straight up while it is charging. Something you cannot do on the CCELL Palm and Silo. This allows the oil to stay in the bottom of the cartridge rather than going sideways. You do not have to wait for it to go to the bottom to hit it again once your charge is complete.

Hits were stronger than before, but still not as strong as CCELL batteries on CCELL carts

The great thing about the SteamCloud Mini 2.0 is it will hit a multitude of cartridges well. CCELL carts are found on Select Oil and Roots Extracts cartridges. CCELL carts do hit better on CCELL batteries. Still, the SteamCloud Mini 2.0 hits better on CCELL carts than most other non-CCELL batteries, including the PCKT One. If you are looking for one battery to hit many carts, the SteamCloud Mini 2.0 is a good option. If you are mostly hitting CCELL carts, then the Palm or Silo is a better choice.
steamcloud mini 2.0
Very discreet sizing on the SteamCloud.

Pricing is much better with a coupon

The SteamCloud Mini 2.0 is pretty expensive at the current price, but their is a wax attachment in there that does add some value. Update 2/2/19: NY Vape Shop gave us the coupon DABCONNECTION15 that take’s 15% off and improves the value. This is a non-affiliate code and just here to save you money since initially it was rated as not a great value. This improves the value substantially. This brings the regular price of $39.99 down to $33.99. Comparatively, the CCELL Palm and Silo are only $25. They do not however have adjustable settings. They do hit better on CCELL carts though and that is the most used cartridge out there. The SteamCloud Mini 2.0 includes the wax attachment so it is not a bad value overall.

Overall our SteamCloud Mini 2.0 review revealed a good battery

The SteamCloud Mini 2.0 did not fail to deliver and worked with a wide variety of THC cartridges. For someone looking for one battery that works with most carts this is a simple solution. You can get the SteamCloud Mini 2.0 at NY Vape Shop.

TOQi 510: Strong Hits, Unique Form Factor

TOQi 510 review

The TOQi 510 is made for cartridge users. It’s got a slick design, easy charging options and hits very hard. Here we review this cartridge battery in-depth. Finally, we have a direct USB-C charging cart battery, something we have been waiting for for a long time.

Pros:

  • Hard hits
  • USB-C charging
  • Works great with CCELL carts
  • Wireless charging option

Cons

  • Not discreet
  • The battery doesn’t protect the cartridge
  • The shape could bend in a pocket
  • Two cable types are required for the charging pad/backup battery and battery

Recommendations: An option to cover the cartridge would be nice and having USB-C cables be used for charging across all accessories.

This product qualifies for a DabConnection instant rebate. Use coupon code DABCONNECTION2020 for 20% off. Thanks to TOQi for giving us this code.  More information is available here.

TOQi 510 Hits hard and finally, we got a direct USB-C charging battery

TOQi 510 packaging
The big case for a little battery.

The most glaring advancement on the TOQi 510 is the ability to charge directly via USB-C. This might sound small, but it’s a big thing. The reason is, hardly anybody except me using the TCL $25 Family Dollar phone uses Micro-USB anymore as their main phone charging port. Every newer model of Android phone and the device I am writing this review on, a Google Pixelbook, uses USB-C.

TOQi 510 on top of that hits really hard, has a great feel in your hand, and fits nicely in your pocket.

Included items and technical specifications for the TOQi 510

Here’s what comes with the TOQi 510 battery:

  • TOQi 510 Unit
  • 2A USB-A Plug
  • USB-A to USB-C Cable
  • TOQi Carry Pouch

Always nice to get an extra USB-C cable. Extra nice to finally have a battery that charges directly with USB-C. It’s faster and most modern Android devices use this type of charger, including the Chromebook used to write this review.

Here are the technical specs for the TOQI 510 battery:

  • Black Color
  • 400mAh Battery Capacity
  • Qi Standard Wireless Charging
  • Rapid Charging USB-C port, USB 3.1/PD (up to 5W)
  • Works with 510 threaded cartridges, including CCELL
  • Dimensions: 98mm x 30mm x 10.45mm
  • 34.4g Weight
  • Available power settings: 2.6V (Cyan/Light Blue) Low;  3.6V (Blue) Medium; and 3.8V (Purple) High
TOQi 510 packaging 2
Features are listed on the back.

TOQi 510 has decent build quality, top connection is a little wobbly

The build quality all around of the TOQi 510 and its comments are good. It’s a solid plastic battery with some metal parts on it.

The cartridge is exposed and not protected

One part of the battery I am a bit concerned about, and we will see through long term use, is if the top section will break off after frequent bending back and forth. The way it’s designed it appears to have a little bit of give built into it, so it may survive the test of time. I have had previously batteries with a similar top connection and after sitting on it in my pocket, it eventually broke off. This was then easily repairable with super-glue. This very well may not happen with the TOQi 510, but the way it is built it is worth mentioning.

Unique design for the TOQi 510, nothing else like it

The design on this battery is truly unique. The activation light is an oval shape that contours around the cut out oval in the middle of the battery. Voltage settings have a lower max setting than almost all other vape batteries, but it still hits harder than most others.

TOQi 510 activated
Wireless charging is pretty easy on the TOQi 510.

The airflow setup is on point

Just getting the notches right on the airflow path makes a HUGE difference. TOQI 510 knew what they were doing here. When I look into their user manual, it even specifically mentions the CCELL TH2 and M6T, which are by far the most popular cartridge hardware types for THC oil.

Did they use CCELLs when developing this battery? Considering how hard it hits and that it’s listed in their guide, makes me think they did. What’s also interesting is how it hits differently from some of the other batteries. The Vessel battery’s airflow is really smooth, while the TOQi 510 is a bit harder, but both are equally awesome.

Nothing from the other brands really compares. It’s a different type of hit. The closest comparison would be it’s a much better, maxed-out-on-strength SteamCloud Micro, without the awful warranty from the SteamCloud company behind it.

For our review, we used the CCELL M6T on The 55 THC cartridge

We try to use products that most commonly will be used by other dabbers. The M6T is one of the most commonly used pieces of vape hardware out there. The largest-selling brand, Select Elite, uses them as do many others. Performance is similar to the TH2 and the heating core is the same. Here we had a distillate cartridge by Aether Gardens called The 55 using the M6T hardware.

Battery life is impressive considering how small it is

500maH has been packed into a small form factor. Battery length of use is a little less than the CCELL Silo and Palm. Longer battery life than the Vessel, which sits at 280maH and a little less than the PCKT One at 660maH.

Charging is finally USB-C for direct

You can directly charge the TOQi 510 using a USB-C cable. That means everyone with a newer android and many types of laptops will be able to charge using multiple cables. It also means you might be stuck somewhere without a battery charger, and you can pick up any old USB-C cable and get your TOQi 510 back to work.

All other batteries we have tried have been screwed in 510, magnetic 510, micro-USB or a proprietary charger.

The charging pad an option

The TOQi 510 is also wireless charging compatible and they sell a wireless charging dock that also works with cell phones. The pad is priced at $17 which is comparable to the prices of other wireless charging pads, not bad at all.

One thing I did not like about the charging pad is it stores the battery sideways, which is not the optimal position for a sitting cartridge. However, if you store your THC carts in something like the Cartsdom Roullette or CartBudy it makes it a bit easier.

TOQi probably will add accessories in the future, and an upright charging solution like the Vessel Base charger would be great since it stores it upright. The TOQi does sit upright on it’s own when you put it straight up and down, but it cannot charge while sitting straight up and down since in this position you are covering the charging port.

TOQi 510 in hand
TOQi 510 is nice and slim.

Standardized cables across the line would be preferred

One downside of the TOQi 510 complete package is that the battery itself takes USB-C, but the charging pad and backup battery both use micro-USB to charge. This means you got to have two different types of cables with you. Not a big deal, but USB-C all around would be nice.

The TOQi 510 is a good value considering its performance and specialties

It’s more expensive than most standard batteries and mini mods. The retail price of the TOQi 510 is $59.95, but then there is a 20% off coupon.

Lowest price on the TOQi 510

Currently, the lowest price on the TOQi 510 is using the coupon code DABCONNECTION, which gets you 20% off. There are also sometimes codes on the TOQi 510 website for 20% off. That brings the price down to $39.96.

Good value for a one-of-a-kind battery that hits this hard. It’s not an affiliate code for us. We just asked TOQi if we could give our readers the full amount of any affiliate commission that would be attributed to our site and they did!

Concluding our TOQi 510 review…

The TOQi 510 is a hard-hitting, slim, nice form factor battery. It charges by way of USB-C, which I think is even better than using the wireless charging pad. If you like wireless, the charging pad is fairly priced. The downsides of the TOQi 510 are it does not protect the cartridge and it seems the top portion could be damaged if you sit on it too many times wrong. Overall though, it’s strong and hits well, which is the most important thing.

You can get the TOQi 510 here.

Utillian 2 Review: Good Build Quality, Smooth But Not Strong Hits

Utillian_2_review

Here we review the Utillian 2 by TVape. This dab pen is more on the budget side, priced at $39.99, but still has a good build quality. Overall, we found this dab pen to be more on the light-hitting side and recommend it more for beginning dabbers. To a long time, high tolerance concentrate hitter, this might not hit hard enough, unless you are going for lighter hits.

Pros:

  • High build quality
  • Smooth hits
  • Easy pop on/off atomizer to reload

Cons:

  • Hits are not hard
  • Battery cannot be used with other atomizers
  • Currently no replacement atomizers, mouthpiece or charger available

Recommendations: Make it hit harder and make replacement parts available.

Check out our video review of the Utillian 2 below and keep reading on for the more in depth review.

Utillian 2 dab pen has good build quality, nice magnetic connections, but hits are not hard

utilian 2
Nice build quality all around on the Utillian 2.

When you open the Utillian 2 you can feel it’s a higher build quality product. Despite their only being one atomizer, the build felt very similar to the Linx Blaze, that goes for almost $100 more. The case and setup are also nicely done, it’s just the hardness of hit is not there for the experienced, high-tolerance dabber.

utilian 2 vape kit
Here’s everything the Utillian 2 comes with.

Extremely simple to use and reliable

You just scrape up some concentrate and slide it in, click five times and you are ready to go. One thing different than most batteries is the 2-click temperature change. Most batteries are 3-click.

No complex settings, just preheat a little before you hit it and go. On top of that it’s all magnetic connections, which makes reloading simpler than your average dab pen.

Magnetic connections on the Utillian 2 are simple and easy

utilian 2 battery and charger
Snaps right on, but if you lose it there’s no replacement.

Connections between the battery, atomizer and even charging are all magnetic. No twisting to do just snap it on. This is a nice feature for easily using the product. The downside is you cannot use the battery for a cartridge or another dab pen atomizer type.

Build quality is better than other’s we’ve seen at this price range

utilian 2 box
Looks just like it does on the box.

Other vapes we have reviewed in this price range did not compare on build quality. Although strength of hit might be a bit lower than some of us high tolerance folks like, you can tell this is a well made device. Better than wax pens you would find from KandyPens, that cost much more.

The charging system would be better with a standardized connection

The charging system seems solid as well, but we would prefer straight charging into the battery via a standard style USB port, such as micro-USB or USB-C. This enables you to charge the battery easier since everyone has some of these cables lying around and should you end up in travel and forgot yours, you can pick one up at the dollar store.

If you lose the charger, there are no replacements for sale.

Glass mouthpiece is nice and has a filter

utilian 2 mouthpiece
Nice thick evenly made glass.

You can see above how thick that mouthpiece glass is. Although glass could break, this one probably would not unless you throw it on the ground pretty hard. Below you can see the filter that is in the mouthpiece. Still missing from a lot of dab pens, this is a nice feature.

utilian 2 mouthpiece screen
That screen is a nice add on, not all dab pens have it.

The only downside of this mouthpiece is it currently out of stock. If you break it, you would have to buy a whole new Utillian 2 dab pen.

Utillian 2 comes with one atomizer style: dual coil quartz

The atomizer hits smooth which is good. Many atomizers of this type are too harsh. However, for some this might just be too soft of a hit. The other problem with this atomizer is replacements are not in stockThere is a donut-style ceramic atomizer they sell for it as well, but that’s also out of stock. Effectively as of the time of this review, the Utillian 2 will only be for use with the atomizer it comes with, then your out of luck.

utilian 2 dual coil quartz atomizer
Even though there is wax in there, at this point it’s not hittable. Coiled atomizers always result in some loss.

Above is a picture of the atomizer after some use. Unfortunately, dual coil atomizers are not the most efficient. Wax does get left on the sides that does not vape all the way, causing some waste. If this was a coilless atomizer, almost all the way would get used.

What’s included in the Utillian 2 dab pen kit

The Utillian 2 comes with:

  • 650maH battery
  • Dual quartz coil atomizer
  • Dab tool
  • Magnetic USB A charger
  • Carrying case

Utillian 2 Operation Instructions

Operation is super simple. Here’s how you do it in numbered steps:

  1. Uncap mouthpiece from atomizer
  2. Load concentrate onto the coil using the dab tool
  3. Put mouthpiece back on
  4. Connect atomizer to battery (snaps on magnetically)
  5. Press 5 times to turn on
  6. Press 2 times to get to desired voltage setting

The voltage settings are as follows:

  • 3.0V Green
  • 3.4V Blue
  • 3.8V Purple
  • 4.2V Red

We ran it at 4.2V the entire time, but it was still not producing a hard hit. Still the hits are very smooth.

Strength of hits could be better

Two different waxes are used in this review: live resin and honeycomb. I use both to see if it will hit differently on either. Hits are roughly the same level of intensity on this device on both types of concentrates.

For me the highest setting was still a bit on the soft side. However, many beginning users might prefer this lighter style hit to something harsh. I should mention there is going too harsh as well, like the This Thing Rips OG Four 2.0, that just scorches the wax.

Many experienced users with dab pens are expecting to get harsher hits out of coils and lighter hits out of coilless. The intensity of these hits was lighter than many higher-end coilless atomizer options I have tried. It should be considered most those options do cost more.

Vapor quality is great despite strength lacking

The quality of the vapor out of this device is good. It would be slightly better on a coilless atomizer like the PuffCo Plus, but comparing coils to coils, it’s definitely better than your average coil hit.

Taste is good, nothing metallic or off about it

The Utillian 2 delivers true-to-concentrate taste. It puts out the same taste as a dab rig would for that type of concentrate. It’s not hitting as hard, but you can recognize what concentrate you are hitting. The lower temp hit probably helps this, as when you scorch your wax you really can’t taste it as good.

Comparing the Utillian 2 to other popular dab pens

Here we’ll compare it to some of the more popular dab pens out there: The Puffco Plus, Puffco Pro 2 and the Linx Blaze.

Utillian 2 vs Puffco Plus

Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus
Puffco Plus is sleek, but more expensive.

The Puffco Plus is a coilless atomizer system that’s known for delivering very smooth hits. The Utillian 2 also delivers very smooth hits for a coilless atomizer. However, you are going to get more efficiency with the Puffco Plus because there is no where for wax to go on the sides, like there is on any coiled atomizer design.

The Puffco Plus is an overall better product, but it does cost substantially more at currently $71.99. Therefore, it’s a close call.

Utillian 2 vs Puffco Pro 2

PuffCo Pro 2
PuffCo Pro 2 doesn’t have great airflow, but you can feel the quality build.

Utillian 2 and Puffco Pro 2 are pretty similar devices from anyone just looking and not using. The Pro 2 has been discontinued but is still a popular product, is still for sale, and something many would recognize in a comparison. The Puffco Pro 2 now goes for around $75. If you have tax then it’s almost double the price of the Utillian 2.

Airflow is awful on the Pro 2 and that is it’s major flaw. Hits are slightly harder on the Pro 2 compared to the Utillian.

Overall, the Utillian 2 is a better product than the Puffco Pro 2.

Utillian 2 vs Linx Blaze

Linx Blaze package contents
We see here what you get when you purchase Linx Blaze, a similar-looking kit to the Utillian 2.

The Linx Blaze is almost a fatter version of the Utillian 2 with an added coilless atomizer. The Blaze is more efficient especially on the coilless option. Even if the coilless donut option was in stock for the Utillian 2, it’s placement is less efficient than the blaze. The Blaze also has stronger hits on the coiled atomizer than the Utillian 2.

The biggest difference is the price. The Linx Blaze retails for $135, while the Utillian 2 is just under $40. Factor in tax and the Linx Blaze costs 3.5x as much.

The Linx Blaze is just too expensive for what it even though it performs better than the Utillian 2.

Utillian 2 is priced fairly at $39.99

The price on Utillian is not too high, especially considering it has some unique attributes like the magnetic connections. The coil seems to be of decent quality as well. There’s tons of dab pens out there that have questionable coil construction like the products we saw from the now-appears-to-be defunct This Thing Rips.

When you break it down as a per-included item cost,

back of utilian 2 box
PRC = People’s Republic of China. This is where almost all vape products are made.

Warranty length is 12 months for the Utillian 2

This covers defects in material and workmanship and not abuse like most. Batteries go bad all the time and that’s not brand-specific, so it’s nice to have that length of time. Some brands like SteamCloud have no warranty and we don’t recommend any of their products because of it.

This warranty has become the standard among better products and it probably does not include the atomizer. Atomizers should be replaced more frequently than that anyway, especially when it comes to coiled atomizers.

Concluding our Utillian 2 review…

The Utillian 2 offers easy to load magnetic connections, a smooth hit and a very good build quality. It doesn’t give you hard hits if you are a high tolerance user and looking for that. Overall, it’ll work for as a starter dab pen with lower tolerance.

You can get the Utillian 2 at TVape’s shop here.

Loud+Clear Review: Great Strength, Oil Lasts Long

loud clear review

Here we review the Loud+Clear vape cartridge, particularly the SFV OG strain. The clear winning part about this THC oil cart is the strength. We’ll go through the details of this cart and see how it stacks up against other brands.

Pros:
  • Real cannabis terpenes
  • Great strength
  • Ceramic core atomizer
Cons:
  • Plastic cartridge body
  • Taste soso

Recommendations: Improve taste a bit and use a glass cartridge.

Licensing Information: AbsoluteXtracts CDPH-10002270

Check out our video review below and keep reading on for the in-depth review.

Loud+Clear is one of California’s stronger cartridges

Loud+clear cartridge
Nice straight forward packaging from ABX.

Strength was the main benefit in this cartridge. Taste was good but not stellar, but when you take the strength and combine it with long-lasting, thick oil, AbsoluteXtracts overall has made a great THC vape cart. We’ll explain more below in detail and compare Loud+Clear to other cartridge brands.

absolutextracts sfv og strength test results
SFV OG comes in just over 80%, but effects are stronger than many carts over 90%.

Oil well made by AbsoluteXtracts

Not 100% sure if it is trim run, but the oil on Loud+Clear is very reminiscent of some of the lighter color Select Elite carts, which is made of trim in both look and flavor.

Now if you make it right you will still come out with some great super strong carts like Select, but there are things like taste discussed below that get sacrificed.

absolutextracts loud+clear ingredients
Nice simple ingredients.

You also don’t get that more “straight distillate” taste like you get on Aces Extracts or Cannavative. I would put Loud+Clear slightly above Select Elite on taste.

Taste was decent, not great, but real cannabis terpenes

Taste on these was slightly better than Select Elite if you have tried that. Nothing spectacular on taste. Seems like it’s trim and they never seem to get that nice sweet taste you get from live resin cart like Raw Garden and Remedy.

Compared to other distillates, there are a lot of better-tasting options that still don’t taste artificial: AiroPro Live Flower Series, Aces Extracts, and Caliva are some that come to mind.

Loud+Clear does not have the worst flavor either, and I would put it above some of the old school style CO2 oil tasting items, but behind some of the better tasting ones like W Vapes and 8 Fold.

Loud+Clear uses the efficient CCELL M6T, but glass would be nice

loud+clear cartridge
Here’s the cart on a SteamCloud Micro, but it hits better on the Vessel battery.

Efficiency would be slightly improved with a glass cartridge. The M6T is still more efficient than most other carts that come in prefills. For a self-fill option, the SPRK by PCKT One is a bit more efficient.

Plenty of puffs on this cartridge, thick oil vapes slowly

The oil on the Loud+Clear cartridge is very thick. It moves slowly and consequently vapes very slow too. It makes you feel like you are getting a good value out of it considering how many puffs you get. Nothing to improve on this point.

Loud+Clear vs other THC cartridge brands

Comparing it to some other brands in the same shop, I would choose Loud+Clear over Stiiizy, RAD, Caliva and Cookies. Out of my “buying the state max” stop at the store, Loud+Clear stood out as one of the strongest.

Compared to Raw Garden, Loud+Clear is stronger but does not taste as good. In general, live resins seem to taste better than distillates but don’t pack as much of a punch on strength.

Good overall value, especially considering how long it lasts

loud and clear cart
Oil vapes slow making for a great value.

It might not be the best tasting, but this cartridge lasts a long time while delivering strong hits. It was the same price as other half gram cartridges at Pure Life in Placerville, California, $35 each.

Concluding our Loud+Clear review…. Would get again!

Absolute Xtracts came in loud and clear with a strong, long-lasting cartridge. They use real terpenes, CCELL hardware and are properly licensed. The only thing that could be improved a bit on this cart is taste, but even then it was not terrible. Loud+Clear carts are definitely something I will be buying again.

Yocan UNI Pro Review: Great Versatile Battery

Yocan UNI Pro review

The Yocan UNI Pro is a great battery for vape cartridges. They label it as a mod battery which it is, but it’s designed for THC and CBD vape cartridges, not your standard eCig type of RDA atomizers. Overall, the versatility of this vape cartridge battery is what makes it a standout.

Pros:

  • Versatile battery, hits any cartridge
  • Long lasting battery
  • Hard hits

Cons:

  • Can’t see oil when cartridge is in

Recommendations: USB-C would be nice for faster charging

Yocan UNI Pro hits a wide variety of vape cartridges

Yocan UNI Pro
Here’s the packaging for the Uni Pro.

The Yocan UNI Pro has a perfect range of voltages and variable side adjustments to pretty much hit any type of vape cartridge. It’s not the absolute best battery for any individual type of cartridge, however, as a catch-all-battery that cover everything, this is a really easy one to carry.

Here we will go through some of the details of the Yocan UNI Pro, and why we think this is one of the best batteries for vape cartridges for 2020.

Design is stellar with unique cartridge holster, build quality is good

uni pro cartridge holder
The part in the middle expands and contracts to hold the cartridge tight.

The Yocan UNI Pro has an excellent design. This thing is made for THC cartridges. The top portion opens up back and forth so you can hold a wide variety of cartridges.

Inadvertently, this top portion that closes around the cartridge also acts as a shock when you drop it and will slightly loosen. Yocan UNI Pro also protects the cartridge in full with a sliding up and down mechanism. You can have 1 gram cartridge go deeper into it or have a half gram pop out a little more.

I dropped the Yocan UNI Pro many times now and I’ve been using this battery for a while and I never broke a single cartridge.

Build quality is good. It doesn’t have a super-premium feel as you find on a Vessel battery, but it does feel much better than you’ll find on any of the SteamCloud products, like the SteamCloud EVOD or SteamCloud Mini. I would say on build quality, it’s probably comparable to CCELL batteries with a little bit less of a quality finish.

Don’t judge the build quality based on weight

When you first hold the Yocan UNI Pro, the build might actually feel cheap to you because it seems so light compared to it’s size. However, the reason why is because of the big hole in the center that’s where the cart goes in. It still has the battery capacity which we will discuss below.

The Yocan UNI Pro is really one of the best-designed cartridge batteries out there. You can tell a lot of thought went into making this a versatile THC cartridge battery.

Battery life is great, charging is okay

Yocan UNI Pro being charged

The Yocan UNI Pro doesn’t charge that fast, partly due to its high capacity. It’s a 650mAh battery which compared to the Vessel’s 280mAh or CCELL’s Palm at 550mAh, it’s a good improvement in charging capacity.

However, since its still micro USB, it does take a while to charge. Its a kind of thing that you would like to leave overnight to charge, but if you do leave it charged for an hour, it would probably last for a couple of days of regular use.

The charging is not that bad, it just does take a while to charge all the way. But once it is fully charged, it lasts a very long time. I would say that this might be the longest-lasting battery that is specifically made for cartridges. Of course, there are mods out there with 2000mAh that would last longer. Although for a compact cartridge specific battery, the Yocan UNI Pro really lasts probably the longest.

Hits are hard on the Yocan UNI Pro

Yocan UNI Pro build quality
Here’s the UNI Pro when it’s on.

This battery hits pretty hard. It’s not the absolute hardest-hitting battery ever for CCELL cartridges but on some of these off-brand cartridges, we could not get any other batteries to fit on the CCELL batteries.

A perfect example is the Javelina cartridge, they have an off-type of hardware that is not standard. It does not work with the CCELL Palm or Silo. However, if you throw it on a Yocan UNI Pro, the cartridge will go from okay to being great. Something about the Yocan UNI Pro and this cartridge combination hit very well.

In Colorado specifically, you’ll find that a lot of companies are using non-standard batteries which means not every cartridge is gonna be made by iKrusher or CCELL like the majority of them are in California and Nevada. That’s why for Colorado users that come across all these random hardware styles, the UNI Pro is an excellent choice.

Another cartridge that works well with Yocan UNI Pro that is non-standard is the APEX RemPen. You really can’t go wrong with the versatility of this battery, it really works very well.

Yocan UNI Pro also works with AiroPro

This is not the ideal battery for AiroPro because it has very little room for the mouthpiece to pop out. However, it actually does work. So if ever your AiroPro battery went down or you just need another hit, you can use AiroPro on to this and it will work, just leave the magnetic adaptor out and pop the AiroPro into the unit. There might be a difficulty in popping it back out once it’s in, you might need to use a key or knife to kinda edge your way out of it.

At $35.99, the Yocan UNI Pro is a great deal

Considering that its much cheaper than many other batteries, and its 70% cheaper than the Vessel, the Yocan UNI Pro is a great deal. You can basically buy this battery and without any other battery go across US and Canada and hit all THC cartridges that you want and get a fairly good experience out of all of them.

A brief warning on car charging

All eCig batteries, including the UNI Pro, should NOT be charged on a cigarette lighter port. This can result in an explosion. It’s a warning many people don’t even bother to notice, but batteries have blown up in people’s cars, so be warned.

Concluding our Yocan UNI Pro review…

The Yocan UNI Pro is a great all-in-one battery for someone that doesn’t want to carry multiple batteries. You may not get the absolute hardest hit on every kind of cartridge but its better than average on every single cartridge and it hits some of those random brands better than any other batteries. Overall, it’s a great choice especially for someone looking for an all in one cartridge battery solution.

Javelina Cartridge Review: Great Oil, Hits Hard

Javelina Cartridge Review
The Javelina cartridge is great when paired with the right battery.

The Javelina cartridge has great quality oil inside it. You can tell by its taste and by putting it on the right battery that it’s a good cartridge and they’re trying to make a quality product. The problem with the Javelina cartridge is on some batteries, it just doesn’t hit well due to the unique hardware. However, when you use the official Javelina battery, it hits exceptionally hard.

However, if you have a battery that will put it in the right settings, Javelina cartridge will give strong effects and it is a good quality cartridge. The strain we used for this review is Tangie Durban, a cross of two sativas, Tangie and Durban Poison.

Pros:

  • Quality oil
  • Strong effects on the right battery (4.2 volts is optimal setting)
  • Very efficient

Cons:

  • Some batteries don’t hit as well on this cart

Recommendations: Glass cartridge body would be nice.

Licensing Information: Tragar Inc 404R-00257/404-00627

UPDATE 5/13/2020: We re-tried the Javelina cartridge with the Javelina specific battery and and found it to hit waaaay better.

The Javelina cartridge hits awesome with the Javelina battery

Javelina cartridge packaging
Javelina has this standard safety box design on its packaging.

The review on this cartridge is similar to the result we have on the APEX RemPen cartridge. Both carts are from CO. It seems more common in CO for companies to divert from your standard CCELL and ALD hardware.  CCELL is used in AiroPro, Select Elite, Cannavative, Cookies, and Roots plus many more. ALD makes Stiiizy and Plug Play vape hardware.

In CO, like what we have found on the APEX RemPen cartridge, they chose to use some other non-standard type of hardware that looks like its better but really isn’t.

We later tried the Javelina cartridge again with the official Javelina battery, and it hits awesome. Harder hits than any of the other batteries we tried, plus this battery rips in general on other brand carts as well.

Build quality and design are good: Hits strong on the official battery.

The Javelina cartridge has a good design when it comes to efficiency. The rest of it is not so great. It’s too thick to fit on some batteries, and on top of that, it doesn’t really work properly unless you have the right battery. The proper range for most cartridges is 3.7 to 4 volts and many work fine on a pull draw.

However, the Javelina cartridge seems to perform best at 4.2 volts. We probably could go a little bit higher but we don’t want to push it and possibly burn it out. Plus at 4.2 volts it gives a hit that is close to what you will get from a CCELL cartridge.

It even performs better on their own stick battery. I am assuming the higher range of that battery is around 4.2 volts.

The Javelina cartridge hardware hits hard at the right settings and with the right battery.

The hardware on this cartridge just doesn’t work out that well. The oil quality on this is awesome as we discuss below but changing this hardware could make the Javelina one of the best THC vape carts available.

It’s overall a good cart because the oil is so good, but CCELL or another hardware setup would hit harder even when you got the right settings for the Javelina cart. Although not the most efficient, this oil on a Dart or Uno pod would be excellent.

Oil quality from Javelina is top-notch

Javelina Cart
Oil stayed the same color after hitting it for a while.

Javelina claims that it is a refined distillate and it definitely tastes like it is. Throughout the duration of the cartridge, the oil quality stayed consistent and color changes were very slight, unlike what happened with Brass Knuckles where there was more prominent color changing.

Only when it got to the very very bottom and we were really vaping it hard to the last drops, it will look like the oil quality might have changed.

Overall, there’s nothing to complain about the oil quality for Javelina, in fact only things to praise. The oil quality overall is excellent and it lives up to the quality that we’ve come to expect from CO cartridges.

Not strong on some batteries, but change the battery and it’s great

The Javelina cartridge on a YoCan UNI Pro battery
We’ve set it on 4.2 volts in a YoCan UNI Pro battery and it delivered great hits.

When you vape a Javelina THC cart on most standard batteries, it really not going to hit that good. I tried it on the SteamCloud EVOD, which was also variable, but it did not perform well. I tried it on a standard pull draw batteries and the hits were not strong either. Not until I put it on the YoCan UNI Pro did I get really good hits out of it and when I set it to 4.2 volts. I did not have my Vessel battery with me for this review, but I bet that one would do well also.

At 4.2 volts on YoCan UNI Pro, this cartridge hits great and it’s very strong. However, you have to judge the cartridge out of the box. for most people, they don’t have different batteries lying around to try out. Most people are going to have a standard eCig battery or something like the CCELL Palm or Silo, which won’t even fit the Javelina. Mod battery users will like this cart.

I should add that you should probably get the official Javelina battery with this cartridge. That guarantees you will get strong hits.

Taste is awesome on the Javelina cartridge

Back panel of the Javelina cartridge's packaging
The total THC level of Javelina is 83.20%.

The Javelina cartridge uses real cannabis terpenes and does not have any artificial flavoring. It does taste excellent, even if you’re on a battery that doesn’t work properly with it, it’s still going to give out a great taste. Absolutely nothing to complain here about the taste. I would put this on the top 15% of the good-tasting cartridge out there.

Javlina hardware is efficient

Javelina on a YoCan UNI Pro battery
Efficiency on the Javelina cartridge is great because of how the holes were designed on the bottom of it.

The way that the holes are placed at the bottom makes the Javelina cartridge very efficient. The holes are long and sideways. They’re placed very well. Can’t complain about efficiency here as far as actual oil getting out of the cartridge.

The only complaint that I have for efficiency is that if you are using a battery that doesn’t just do well with this cartridge, you will not get an efficient hit because every hit is not that hard.

Number of puffs are good

The number of puffs is really good no matter what battery you use. On a weaker battery, it’s gonna last much longer. On a stronger battery, at least you are getting a very significant puff per draw. Overall, the number of puffs is good either way.

Value is excellent

The value on the Javelina cartridge is good if you have the right battery to pair it with. It was $40 plus tax in a licensed Colorado shop. There are other options in CO with the same price that already have better hardware, but if I have the right battery Javelina is something I would pick up again.

Weighing awesome oil, great taste, and when paired with their battery it hits awesome, I would put the value at excellent. If you already have the right battery and you have seen this review and you already know how to get the right battery for it, the value will go up to above average since the oil is really good and it is a strong cartridge. Hitting this cart on the wrong battery would give a worse value.

Concluding our Javelina cartridge review…

Javelina cartridge packaging
Javelina is a great cartridge when paired to the right battery.

Overall, the Javelina cartridge is great or not so great depending on the battery you have to pair with it. If you are reading this review before buying it, make sure that you have a battery that can adjust to 4.2 volts, and that’s how you’ll get the best hit out of it. Or get the official Javelina battery and you are certain to get awesome hits.

Left Coast Extracts Cartridge: Awesome Hardware, Long Lasting

left coast extracts review

Left Coast Extracts is an Oceanside, California based cannabis extract company that is known for producing concentrates, vape pods, and vape cartridges.  Here we are reviewing their THC vape cartridge. Left Coast Extracts is currently available only in California.

Something about this cartridge seems to make it last forever. I’ve been able to hit the same cartridge a long time and the oil vapes very slow while the hardware still provides huge rips.

Pros:

  • Good oil quality
  • The oil lasts really long
  • You can see everything on the cartridge
  • All glass cartridge

Cons:

  • The cartridge could break if you dropped it hard enough
  • Does not fit on some battery types like the CCELL Palm and Silo

Recommendations: Make a smaller version that would also fit on different batteries.

Licensing Information:

Left Coast Extracts cartridge is unique and hits great

left coast cartridge
Here’s a shot with a lot of natural light

From the quality of their hardware to the oil itself, everything about this cartridge turned out to be great. Something about it makes it lasts super long. The oil seems to last longer than any cartridge that I have tried. The fact that you could see everything, nice and clear is also cool. Maybe the logos can be adjusted and look a little bit different, but other than that this cartridge is good all around.

For this review, I used a battery that was less than optimal and definitely not my favorite battery, the SteamCloud EVOD. There’s nothing special with this battery, its pretty much very similar to the type of battery that you would pick up from a gasoline station. We’ll talk more about how it ties in below.

Design and build quality is unique to Left Coast Extracts, and it’s great

This has to be one of the best cartridges design that I have seen so far. Complete glass, from top to bottom where your oil is sitting in the best possible position it can be in. I also like that you can see everything. I guess the only downside would be, you probably can’t take this apart. Once it’s filled, it’s filled and that’s that.

left coast glass cartridge top
Check out how thick that glass is on the Left Coast cart.

However, the hardware seems to be very reliable. There have been no issues with it and it hits consistently the whole way through. Considering that I’m using a battery that’s less than optimal and it’s still hitting this good, I can only imagine how much even better it can be if I had a good battery on this cartridge.

It could possibly break if you dropped it, but I haven’t yet

I actually ended up dropping this cartridge even though I tried not to. It does have a rubber seal around the top that will break some of the fall if you drop it. I dropped it twice, none of those were super high drops. Probably around 3ft – 4ft height of drop onto a wood floor and nothing happened. I was happy about that.

A heavy enough battery with a hard enough floor might break it. However, the glass is really thick, so I don’t know if it will break much easier just because the top is glass than you would on a regular CCELL or other glass cartridges.

So, this is just more glass, but a substantial fall is still gonna break a glass cartridge anyway and the glass on this cartridge is substantially thicker than I’ve seen on any other cartridge. So don’t think it’s weak until you feel it in your hand.

Contrast that with the SoKiss Cartridge that we did not post a review on because it cracked halfway through when I used it. On the design, they could maybe make the logo in one spot or have it listed around as opposed to all over. I would like just to see more of just straight oil, and I think that would stand out more.

Oil quality is excellent, no changes on consistency at all

Throughout the entire duration of this cartridge, the oil looks exactly the same. No consistency change in oil like I found on Brass Knuckles.

left coast extracts packaging
Just a packaging pic since I can’t find mine.

Strength was great on the Left Coast Extract cartridge

Left Coast Extract cartridge is strong because of two things: using great hardware and great quality of the oil. Even with the use of the battery that was not my top choice, it still hits very strong and is on par with a lot of other strong cartridges. The effects were unique and it did not make tired at all, it had a great amount of energy to it. The strain tested here is Gelato, a hybrid.

The taste was pretty good, not flavored

The taste on this cartridge was much better that you would find on most CO2 oils. It’s not flavored like you would find on the standard AiroPro distillate cartridges and it also is not a live resin taste because it is a distillate cartridge.

So, it does rank below brands like Raw Garden, Remedy, and Binske on taste but I rather take a stronger cartridge and this is stronger. Taste is comparable to most other distillate cartridges that have lighter color oil. It definitely tastes better than Brass Knuckles, Cookies, Loud+Clear, Select Elite, and I would say the taste is about on par with Stiiizy. Overall, the taste is not bad at all, but not the best.

Left Coast might be unmatched on cart efficiency

This cartridge hits good on even not that great batteries and oil is fitting from the very bottom. Doesn’t seem that they can improve much on the efficiency side on this cartridge at all. On top of that, it’s using all glass so less stuff sticks on the sides. You probably gonna end up hitting this down to the last drop.

Number of puffs so far is highest

I should know that we are using a full gram cartridge for this review. However, in comparison with other full gram cartridges, this thing seems to vape forever. The oil just goes down really really slow.

It’s not actually the slowest moving, most thick distillate that I’ve ever seen, but for some reason, you get fat clouds with this cartridge and the oil vapes really slow.

Value is good considering how long the oil lasts and unique, quality hardware

The fact that the oil just vapes so slow in this cartridge makes this cartridge of good value. I would say that this cart could last even two times longer than some of the other faster-burning cartridges that I have before. The hardware and slow vaping oil combo make for good value.

Concluding our Left Coast Cartridge Review…

left coast extracts
Oil looks nice in the sun

When I first posted a pic of the Left Coast Extracts cartridge, some people have stated that it is a street brand and it was unregistered. That turned out not to be true, it is registered in California and they’re making legit tested products. Now that I have tried their cartridge, I could say its awesome. The hardware is great, the oil seems to last better and the taste is decent. Not much more you can ask more from the cartridge.

Another note on Left Coast is their pods are cross-compatible with Stiiizy but hit stronger. I do think the cartridge is better than their pods substantially though. This new hardware might be the best piece of vape hardware out right now.

Lucid Oils Cartridge Review: Strong Oil, Big Improvement

lucid oils cartridge review

Here we take a look at the Lucid Oils cartridge.  They have come out with stronger oil across the board, including the 87% THC found in this Strawberry Cough vape cartridge. We picked up another cartridge recently and they did change the packaging. Strength has also improved.

Pros:

  • Good taste
  • Decent strength

Cons:

  • Hardware does not hit hard

Recommendations: Swap the hardware to something that hits harder. Currently, I prefer their oil syringe and refilling a used CCELL. Their syringes are some of the best out there.

Update: Lucid Oils carts have gotten stronger and stronger. Now in 2020 they are a different level cart than when we first did this review. Originally we rated this at a decent strength, now it’s a great strength. Price has also become the same as other carts.

The Lucid Oils cartridge proved tasty and strong with the right battery

lucid oils cartridge
In a big instead of a box like most carts.

Originally I tried out their earlier syringe which came in at 68% THC and was not that strong. It was the strongest they had available at the time. That was one of the first time seeing their products and it’s not that uncommon you see stronger versions of oil come out as brands develop better products.

Then they updated their syringes and had cartridges available. You’ll find plenty of Lucid Oils products in the 85% to 94% THC range.

The syringes and carts we still get frequently, more so the syringes since they are $5 cheaper at Tsaa Nesunkwa and I prefer them on once used 500ml of TH2 CCELL hardware (what comes on Roots, Cannavative, Fuze, Jetty, Select Elite and many more). We will usually use 2 syringes on a used cart, so it’s gone through 3 half grams. After that the mouthpiece can get a bit too clogged.

Design could use some improvement, build is solid

Lucid Oils cartridges use a CCELL clone that’s probably the most popular clone. It looks pretty close and also uses a ceramic core, but you can tell the difference in appearance and performance. There are two O-rings on this one as opposed to one on the CCELL, and the tip is a polished metal. The glass is thick and overall the build seems great.

real ccell vs clone
Left is the Lucid Oils cart, right is a Golden Private Stash that uses a real CCELL.

Where this cart under performs compared to an authentic CCELL is on putting out hard hits. It doesn’t have that extra kick the CCELL cart does. However, the excellent oil makes this still a good cartridge.

Micro style battery worked best on this cart

I tried this cart with different batteries and found the SteamCloud Micro, which is basically a SteamCloud-branded Micro battery with a 510 connection, worked better on this cart than my typical batteries I use on CCELL carts. The Micro did not work well with the original CCELL either.

Using the Micro battery made a big difference on airflow. Conversely, the Micro battery seemed to tight on airflow on real CCELLs. The Micro is ugly and not discreet, but it works magic on this clone.

Lucid Oils uses a solventless extract system that produces quality oil

Nothing lacking here on the quality of the oil. I am not an expert, but according to the budtender at Essence on West Tropicana Lucid Oils only makes solventless extracts. The oil is thick, clear, and vapes slow. Where this cartridge was purchased, Nevada, testing is strict so there are no pesticides issues.

Cartridge is stronger on the right battery

As mentioned above the awkward looking Micro battery gets better airflow on this style of CCELL clone. I would much prefer an authentic ceramic top TH2 cart, the same one Roots cartridges use. The SPRK cartridge and Bud Tank V16 are also options that would outperform this clone. Both of those are on par with CCELL carts.

lucid oils battery on cartridge
Not very discreet, but this combo worked best.

This style cart only does so-so the Magic 710 and Vessel battery. Tried both of those before I was reviewing the Micro and found it to match up well with this style. I would still say the Vessel is better on everything else due to the enhanced airflow.

Taste is excellent on everything Lucid Oils so far

Both the syringe I tried before and this cartridge taste excellent. I do think a better hardware would deliver slightly better flavor here. Sometimes this clone gives a tiny bit of a metallic like taste and when I used the syringe version of Lucid in a different style cart it tasted better.

Cartridge is efficient, but better hits could add to efficiency

Nothing lacking on efficiency as far as leakage or left over oil being stuck in the Lucid Oils cartridge. Efficiency takes a bit of a hit on the fact this cart just does not hit as good as some of the other types of hardware out there. You get more out of each hit with better hardware.

Number of Puffs is good, vapes slow

lucid oils cartrige
Getting towards the bottom and the oil still looks good.

Lucid Oils aren’t going to vape away really quickly like a fake Dank Vapes. There’s just THC oil and terpenes in there. Number of puffs was comparable with any thick distillate cartridge.

The Lucid Oils cart is now priced the same as others.

The average cost of a half gram cartridge in Nevada is about $45. The Lucid Oil cartridge was $52 the first time we got it. Now their carts are $40-45 like other brands. At Tsaa Nesunkway they are $40 plus tax.

Airo Pro also was $52 for a while, but recently their carts have dropped down to $45 a piece.

These are prices at a good priced dispensary in Las Vegas. If you go somewhere like Pisos it might be $70+ since a regular half gram Roots there is $65, while it’s $40-45 everywhere else.

Concluding our Lucid Oils cartridge review

The Lucid Oils THC cart is something I would get again if their oils are not available. Since they are using a CCELL clone, I rather opt for the same oil in a syringe.

They did a great job upgrading their strength from previous revisions. We would just like to see a better performing hardware paired with this excellent oil.

Brass Knuckles SFV OG Review: One Long Hit

I must say that the Brass Knuckles OG Series cartridge infamous packaging is always a delight to open. The two pronged simultaneous press is genius and once understood, it becomes somewhat therapeutic. Housed in this delicately packaged box are various cannabis oil extracts of all three types of high.

Whatever your preference, Indicas, Sativas, and Hybrids, Brass Knuckles OG extracts have you covered. Today, the Brass Knuckles SFV OG cartridge is the choice. Reigning from the family of Indica, SFV OG is here to stay.
UPDATE 9/11/2019: DISCLAIMER: In light of more recent news, it has become apparent that black market cartridges, counterfeit cartridges, and fake brands of cartridges have become more widespread than we had ever realized. We urge readers to apply their own discretion, and caution that at no point should readers assume that a review of a cartridge on our site is a guarantee of its safety. We advise readers to always verify their cartridges as coming from a legitimate source.
brass knuckles sfv og
SFV OG by Brass Knuckles in medium light.

Brass Knuckles and the pre-production process

Brass Knuckles has been in the midst of a bad spell recently, so I came into this purchase skeptical. Before the madness, a friend allowed me to hit the Brass Knuckles Skywalker OG oil occasionally but it never really did it for me. The box boasts No Polyethylene Glycol or Glycerin but I could always taste a bit of metallic. At that time, flower was my all. But all good things must come to an end, right?

Now in the second version

The rise in secondary versions of premium THC oils meant to rival superior brands such as CSC and Brass Knuckles have slowly entered the market. At cheaper prices for shop owners, the smart decision is to buy more Supreme THC carts or those notorious Mario Carts and get them on the shelves ASAP. These brands with no websites or info to back them up cause concern for alarm but they sell better because they were purchased for less. I’d liken this most to the recent phenomenon amongst the teens with flavored JUUL Pods. If you’d prefer a clean distillate that produces clean highs, Brass Knuckles has you covered with the SFV OG cartridge.  Brass Knuckles never miss in the right hands.

Brass Knuckles SFV OG hit quality is undeniable

I picked up the SFV OG and hit it once. One long 10 second drag. I was conned and waited to hit is again to see if there was any effects. In the mean time I put my vaporizer pen back on the charger and allowed it to gain more power. Maybe the battery was at fault and there wasn’t enough charge to heat the Brass Knuckles cartridge coil system.
I began to question the capabilities of this high and dabbled in some extra research. There are 3 different strains of SFV OG. It comes in all three strains. Least popular is the Indica version. The Sativa Hybrid is known to be the most potent. Brass Knuckles chose Indica. There is no listed specific percentage of THC ratio on site or on the packaging for the Brass Knuckles OG Series SFV OG Cannabis Oil Cartridge. It is definitely better than most.
Brass Knuckles SFV OG
Brass Knuckles chose Indica for their strain

At this price point, that sudden intuition starts to creep up my neck. So far, the Internet has proven correct in it’s belief that Brass Knuckles has indeed fell off due to recent problems with competition. Maybe i’ve inhaled a dirty oil. All this talk about pesticides and harmful substances in the THC based on how it was produced has me shook. It’s not hitting as advertised. There’s no punch.

I was frozen in shock, I couldn’t believe nothing was happening. All my years of getting high I’ve always felt the come-up. Right as I reached for my three-temperature 510 threaded vape pen to put it to the max, it hit. To keep it short like Kevin Hart, I wasn’t ready.

Long wait, worth every second

The high hits very late but for one hit, its all four Knuckles. This experience compels me to suggest the Only Once and Wait tactic. Hit it once simply because of the creep up. This high feels like the first time you heard Justin Bieber’s part in Maria I’m Drunk and tried to deny the fact that you just replayed Maria I’m Drunk 10 times. The high lasted just under two hours but it doesn’t necessarily come down. At the end it’s more like being the light floating just above a high shelf in a library. Can’t be sure if its ever going to turn off and the librarians are staring at you because they want to go home.

Brass Knuckles SFV OG has a nice hearty flavor

The flavor is pine like, almost like the smell of Pine trees. It’s smooth but a bit harsh at the end but i’d default that to the Brass Knuckles lower half design flaw which I’ll discuss further on. The flavor is refreshing, it’s smooth and once you time your pull to negate the throat ash completely, it becomes a portable device

Outdated atomizers for Brass Knuckles

A long pull resulted in a scratchy throat, but that was expected. The old coil atomizer that Brass Knuckles still uses is antiquated compared to the new technology available. One can only wonder how this would pull if the Brass Knuckles vaporization system was upgraded to CCELL. CCELL uses a ceramic core and that heats much more efficiently than the Brass Knuckles coil system and it’s clear. In our review of Brass Knuckles Napalm OG cartridge, we swapped the oil into a CCELL chamber and found it to be much more pleasant.

The base of the Brass Knuckles OG Series cartridge is somewhat heavy and feels archaic. You have to make a tad bit more of an effort to get this cartridge in the sweet spot on your 510 threaded vaporizer battery or vape system. Due to the shape of the Brass Knuckles cartridge, batteries with unique shapes like the Magic 710 may be cause for problem with this cartridge. [ADVERTISER FOR SITE] vaporizer pens and stylus are most ideal. If you deviate from those to something more extravagant like the Steamcloud Box Mod Vaporizer, it may not fit correctly at times.

The Brass Knuckles SFV OG cartridge is a must have

Brass Knuckles cartridge
Here’s a closer look on the Brass Knuckles SFV OG cart.

All said and done, Brass Knuckles SFV OG hits lusciously. Highly recommend the Only Once, and Wait tactic. Take a 10 second drag and wait for your 4 Knuckles. While it may have a slight throat burn on extensive hits, that can be fully negated with a shorter pull. The coil atomizer of the Brass Knuckles OG series cartridges restricts you to Pens and Stylus. Upgrading to CCELL carts would make it a lot better.

The Brass Knuckles SFV OG is a solid pick up and could potentially be top two in potency for the OG series family of Indica distillates. This cartridge will remain in rotation for the foreseeable future. You can find the premium Brass Knuckles SFV OG on WeedMaps.

Magic 710 Review: Tiny Battery Packs a Punch

magic 710 review
The Magic 710 battery by Transpring is one of the smallest batteries for vape cartridges we have seen. Yet it still packs a punch comparable to the CCELL batteries on THC cartridges. You may also see it labeled as the VAPMOD Magic 710. Overall, this is an excellent choice and great value.

Pros:

  • Extremely small form factor
  • Active hit battery
  • Hits great
  • Battery lasts well for it’s size

Cons:

  • Only one voltage
  • Won’t work with top airflow carts

Recommendations: Having voltage options would be nice, yet this battery is designed for simplicity so we can see why they leave it out.

The Magic 710 overall is a great choice for THC and CBD cartridge users

magic 710 transpring
Cimplete Magic 710 kit

DabConnection gets batteries often. The Magic 710 is one of our favorite pull draw batteries. Strong hits, great form factor, and good build quality make this one of our top choices and it will be added to our best batteries for cartridges list.

Design is like a combination of the Palm and Silo, with an added light feature

Take the cartridge view of the Palm and make it shaped like the Silo, then shrink it down about 1/3 and you got the Magic 710 battery. The bonus feature is the red light that is activated when you hit it.

Nice little option to make sure your cart and battery are working. The Magic 710 uses a magnetic adapter that attaches to your cartridge. With magnetic adapters sometimes you need to twist it around a bit to make sure it activated correctly.

Technical specs of the Magic 710 Battery

  • Draw Activated Operation – Operated by vaping it, not button push
  • Connection: 510 Threaded M7 Magnetic Connector Fits 11mm Carts (standard)
  • Constant Voltage Output: 3.5V
  • Coil Resistance: 1.0 to 3.0 Оhm
  • Power Capacity: Internal 380mAh Battery
  • Charging: Micro USB Port
  • LED Battery Life Indicator Located at the Base of the DeviceOvercharge Protection / Over Discharge Protection / Over Current Protection / Short Circuit Protection / Over Voltage Protection
    Product Dimensions: 13.5mm by 28mm by 56.8mm
magic 710 magnetic adapter
The magnetic adapter is unique.

Above is the magnetic adapter for the Magic 710. The structure is different than we have seen on magnetic tips.  Make sure to not lose this one for optimal performance.

Build Quality is good, does not feel cheap at all

The build on the Magic 710 is good. It’s also comparable to the Palm and Silo. Not quite as fine a finish as you will find on Vessel batteries, but this battery is geared for a much lower price point.  There’s no jankyness or wiggling parts to this battery, it’s a solid build.

Impressive battery life for the size

The Magic 710 battery has a capacity of 380maH. Not huge compared to a box mod, but for the size it is, quite impressive! The Vessel comes in at 240maH while the Palm and Silo come in at 500maH.

magic 710 bottom
Standard USB charging keeps it simple.

Considering how small the Magic 710 is the battery life is great. I went through most a half gram cartridge and it is still going. Charging is easy with standard micro USB the little light on the shaft will turn red when charging the light turns off when fully charged.

Strength was easy to manipulate and lot better than some larger batteries

The Magic 710 was significantly stronger than the SteamCloud Mini 2 and about on par strength wise with the Palm and Silo. Not a lot of batteries really give you that just right hits with carts, and this one does. It was easy to get hard hits out of it. Hit it consecutively to get a harder hit.

Great value at around $17 shipped

The lowest price we could find was as low as $16.95 shipped on eBay. The lowest non-eBay price we could find was $19.99 at eCig City. You can get another 10% off for signing up for their email list. Can’t go wrong with the Magic 710 at these prices.

Concluding our Magic 710 review… Overall score 8/10

The Magic 710 proved to be reliable. It delivered great hits and the battery lasts long. Coming in at $17 there may not be a better option for a cartridge battery at this price. This battery gets two thumbs up and I will be using it frequently.

Best Batteries For THC Vape Cartridges 2020: Here’s Our Top 8 Picks

best batteries vape cartridges

Here we go through our list of the best batteries for vape cartridges. So far the best battery for vape cartridges for 2019 is the Vessel, with the CCELL’s Silo and Palm rounding out the top 3. We should add that a lot of the batteries you see out there sold at dispensaries are re-branded CCELL Palms.

This list is not for eCig products, but to help you find the best battery for THC and CBD vape cartridges. We ranked batteries we have actually tried and the ones we tried were based on looking for batteries specifically for vape cartridges. There are a lot more batteries out there and no way we can test them all, so we appreciate your suggestions by commenting below to spread the word on great vape batteries.

Our best vape batteries for THC vape cartridges list is simple: The better the hit, the higher the placement

The most important factor for most users on choosing the best vape battery for cartridges is how good does it hit. Battery life is important, but a battery can last all day and deliver poor quality hits compared to others. Sure, you can get 1300mah EVOD and the battery may last a couple weeks, but if the air flow is not on point, its not one of the best batteries for vape cartridges.

These picks are based on actual use and no one can pay for a spot

Companies cannot pay for any placement on our list nor reviews of products. DabConnection does not receive a commission for any sales on this site. We direct you to the lowest price currently available on the internet.

If you find a lower price please comment below and we will update the list after verifying it. On to the picks for the best batteries for vape cartridges!

Vessel Compass: Hits all points perfect for CCELL

Vessel_Compass_review
Compass vape battery box on the left and battery with 1g cart on the right.

The Vessel Compass is new for 2020. It’s MSRP is less than the original at $59, it has more mAh at 550 instead of 280, but it does not have as complicated a finish. However, the airflow is identical and airflow is what makes the original Vessel battery still one of our top picks.

It also fits Rove carts and hits them well. It has protection for the cartridge built into the battery, so it will not fit ultra-thick cartridges like the BBTank X and Ispire Ducore.

Direct USB-C charging and the best-placed button on a battery so far

vessel usb c charger
DCIM100MEDIADJI_0761.JPG

When the compass battery is on all you need to do is squeeze to use it. The location of the button makes it very easy to activate in a discreet way. t also features direct USB-C charging. This makes it way easier to find an available charger than the prior vessel battery and nowadays even than a regular micro-USB charger.

Vessel Battery: The best airflow delivers the best battery for vape cartridges, but also highest cost

best battery for vape cartridges vessel
Overall the Vessel performs the best due to airflow.

The Vessel battery is a product of Vessel Brand, a California based company. Check out our Vessel battery review for an in depth look, but here we’ll tell you the basics on why it takes the top spot. First, airflow is as perfect as it can get on a battery for vape cartridges.

Second, it has the highest build quality which produces the most solid feel. Third, the auto shutoff as an extra safety feature is a great add on. It is one of the lower capacity batteries at 240maH, but it does charge quickly with the included quick charger.

Vessel’s superior airflow is due to air hole placement

vessel battery airflow
Six airflow holes strategically placed are what make Vessel the best cartridge battery.

When you look at the area of the Vessel battery right below the threading on which the cartridge connects, you will see a series of air holes around it. It appears at first sight the airflow is controlled by the screw on top, but it is in fact regulated by these miniature holes that go around in a circle below the threading. That’s the secret that makes the Vessel battery superior.

High MSRP at $99, but coupons make a better deal at $70

Cost on the Vessel is an issue for some. At an MSRP of $99.99 it’s the highest priced battery for vape cartridges. We got a fix for that: use coupon code REDDIT30 for 30% off, making it a much sweeter deal at $70. Keep an eye on our Vessel Brand coupon page for the latest coupons.

Warranty and performance, can’t go wrong with the Vessel

The Vessel works with both top and bottom airflow vape cartridges. It’s the best performing abttery with CCELL cartridges, currently the industry standard and used in popular carts like Select Elite, Jetty Extracts and Roots. Most pull draw batteries, those that are activated by inhaling, don’t work with top airflow cartridges like we found on our Rove and Cannabiotix cartridges.

Given it’s versatility and airflow, Vessel takes the top spot. Check out our Vessel battery review for more info. You can buy the Vessel here and use the REDDIT30 coupon code for the best price.

Yocan UNI Pro : Great Versatile Battery

Yocan UNI Pro build quality
Here we see that the Yocan UNI Pro has a really good build quality.

The Yocan UNI Pro has a perfect range of voltages and variable side adjustments to pretty much hit any type of vape cartridge. It’s not the absolute best battery for any individual type of cartridge. But as a catch-all-battery that covers everything, this is a really easy one to carry. Its versatility wins the day.

Design is stellar with unique cartridge holster, build quality is good

The Yocan UNI Pro has an excellent design. This thing is made for THC cartridges. The top portion opens up back and forth so you can hold a wide variety of cartridges.

Inadvertently, this top portion that closes around the cartridge also acts as a shock when you drop it and will slightly loosen. Yocan UNI Pro also protects the cartridge in full with a sliding up and down mechanism. You can have 1 gram cartridge go deeper into it or have a half gram pop out a little more.

Battery life is great, charging is okay

The Yocan UNI Pro doesn’t charge that fast, partly due to its high capacity. It’s a 650mAh battery which compared to the Vessel’s 280mAh or CCELL’s Palm at 550mAh, so it’s a good improvement in charging capacity.

Hits are hard on the Yocan UNI Pro

This battery hits pretty hard. It’s not the absolute hardest-hitting battery ever for CCELL cartridges but on some of these off-brand cartridges, we could not get any other batteries to fit on the CCELL batteries.

A perfect example is the Javelina cartridge, they have an off-type of hardware that is not standard. It does not work with the CCELL Palm or Silo. However, if you throw it on a Yocan UNI Pro, the cartridge will go from okay to being great. Something about the Yocan UNI Pro and this cartridge combination hit very well.

For more information about the handy one-size-fits-all battery solution, visit our Yocan UNI Pro review.

CCELL Silo: Consistently strong hits, great form factor, best choice dollar for dollar for many

ccell silo vape battery for cartridges
The Silo is nice and compact.

The CCELL Silo provides solid hits in a nice compact format factor. The hits that come off the Silo are identical to the Palm, the Silo beats the Palm due to a better form factor. This is more a matter of opinion and some may prefer the flat feel of the Palm over the Silo. Priced at $24.99 on most sites, it’s a good deal even at MSRP. It packs 500maH which is an impressive capacity considering the battery size.

Only one voltage setting, but optimized for CCELL carts

The CCELL Silo only has default setting and the voltage cannot be changed. The voltage on the CCELL Silo (and Palm) ranges between 3.2V and 3.6V during use. However, it is optimized to hit CCELL carts and it does so well. Our opinion is that the Silo (and Palm discussed below) are the best lower cost batteries for use with CCELL carts.

Best price on CCELL Silo we could find (non-eBay)

The cheapest we could find it was $$22.49 at Vape Parts Mart using code CLOUD for 10% off. You might find it cheaper on eBay but authenticity is not guaranteed, and CCELL does not honor warranties from eBay products.

It should be noted that the Silo and Palm both don’t work with top airflow cartridges. They also do not have an indicator for the battery getting low. For more information on this vape battery see our CCELL Silo review. The Silo for many is the best dollar for dollar choice.

CCELL Palm – Hits the same as the Silo, just a different form factor

ccell palm
The CCELL Palm is flatter and wider than the Silo.

The CCELL Palm is the same internals as the CCELL Silo. Voltage, battery maH, charging and performance are all the same, so no need to repeat what was stated above with the Silo. The only reason the Palm places lower than the Silo is we found the Silo to be a more compact form factor. Simply put, the Silo fits easier in your pocket than the Palm, other than that they are the same. So there really is no need to go through the above info on the Silo again.

The cheapest CCELL Silo we could find was $22.49 on VPM using code CLOUD for 10% off. There are cheaper ones on eBay, but they are not guaranteed authentic or warrantied.

UWOW Storm: Low cost mini-mod that also works with AiroPro cartridges

uwow storm battery airopro
Pops right in and is more reliable than the AiroPro battery.

This one might be a dying breed since the company seems to have gone out of business. However, plenty of UWOW Storm batteries are for sale. AiroPro carts are great products, but many have complained about battery issues. You can pop in AiroPro carts and get harder hits off this than their original battery, just use it without the magnetic adapter.

Then use the magnetic adapter for other cart types, including top and bottom airflow. The versatility of this battery is what makes it a top choice.

So far the cheapest we have found is $15.99 at  City of Vape. With shipping about $21 for most people in the US.

Exxus Snap, Exxus Snap VV, SteamCloud Mini 2, and similar batteries

exxus snap vv
Exxus Snap VV

The Exxus Snap has a couple versions out there but they are all pretty similar. We put these similar batteries in the same spot because of their similarities. Size on Snap batteries is similar to the Silo but hits strength is still a little weaker. Airflow is good, but not as good as the the other top three.

Exxus Snap battery life: Great due to it’s 650maH battery, more capacity than the top three

The Snap has a great capacity and lasts quite a while. It does not have a battery indicator though, so when you are dead it is dead. But it’s nice to have a compact size battery with a decent amount of life in it.

Hits on the snap are good but not as good as the above three. Check out our SteamCloud Mini 2 review for more info on a clone we reviewed. The cheapest Exxus Snap VV we could find is at Zee Vapor for $27.99.

Mod Batteries: iStick Pico, iStick Mini, and similar batteries

mod batteries for vape cartridges
Picos are more common for eJuice, but a good choice for carts.

We are throwing mods into the 5th slot. Not specifically made for THC and CBD vape cartridges, but fully compatibly, mods have more battery capacity than any of the top four battery choices.

Mods will work with top or bottom airflow cartridges, some might require an adapter

Some mods will not work right with bottom airflow cartridges and may need an adapter. This is because mod batteries often do not have airflow slits at the base where it is screwed in. Add a 510 to eGo thread adapter and on most batteries the problem is fixed. Plenty of mods do have the airflow slits, just make sure to check if you are purchasing at a smoke shop.

Mod batteries are cheap

eBay has a good selection of batteries and you can find the iStick Pico for less than $20. You got to buy an 18650 internal battery to go with that though and make sure you check when getting mod batteries if a separate internal battery is required. The Pico is very popular and we will be discussing that one more below. The point is eCig mod batteries are cheap, have a high capacity, and work with both types of carts.

There are hundreds of batteries for vape cartridges out there, let us know what you found!

New batteries are coming out every week for vape cartridges, eCig, and dab pens. Most of them are interchangeable with cartridges too. If you are looking for a great vape cart to go with your battery, check out our top THC carts for California and Nevada. We covered the ones we have tried so far and left out the ones that did not make the cut, but are there any batteries you think should be on this list?

Game Time Vape Cartridge Review: Great Oil, But Hardware Restricts Airflow

Game Time is a Nevada based THC vape cartridge brand. Our in depth Game Time cartridge review revealed quality distillate oil that is limited by the hardware it comes with. This same oil would be much better in an improved cartridge style.

Pros:

  • High strength
  • Long lasting effect
  • Efficient
  • Excellent taste
  • High THC percentage
  • Lab tested pesticide free and solvent free

Cons:

  • Cartridge airflow is restricted

Recommendations: Put this same oil in a better vape cartridge like an authentic CCELL. Make this same oil available as a distillate syringe.

Licensing Information: 1017567314-001

UPDATE 12/12/19:

And lo, it came to pass, in accordance with our recommendation, that Game Time switched to CCELL. We just got word of this development while tramping about MJBizCon Las Vegas. Now we will commit to an updated review, coming soon.

Everything is great about Game Time except the hardware

These Game Time cartridges proved to be an excellent quality oil. Testing came out great as you will see below. This cartridge is a perfect example of using slightly cheaper hardware that results in much less strength, similar to what we have seen on the latest versions of the Kabunky cartrtridge.

game time cartridge
The distillate in the Game Time cartridge had a great color to it.

Design and Build Quality: Built well, but airflow suffers

You can tell the cartridge is well built that comes with the Game Time oil. The cartridge seemed very close to an authentic CCELL, but was just a hair off. That hair off is on the airflow portion. The difference can be shown easily when comparing it to the Select Oil cartridge, which uses the same clear mouthpiece style cartridge, but an authentic CCELL.

game time vape cartridge airflow
You can see the left hole is flatter and smaller than the right hole. Left is Game Time, right is 8 Fold.

8 Fold’s cartridge gets awesome airflow on a very similar looking cartridge. Pictured above is Game Time on the right on a CCELL Palm and 8 Fold’s cartridge on the left. If Game Time used the same cartridge as 8 Fold, their cart would be on par with 8 Fold’s or Select Oil’s. Both f those brands use the authentic CCELLs.

To be sure it was not just the battery, I also tested out the Game Time vape cart on a Steamcloud Mini and the airflow was still restricted.

Oil Quality: High end as expected from AMA

The oil in the Game Time cartridge is made by Alternative Medicine Association, who also makes oils for Vader Extracts Nevada. To say I have never had a bad syringe from AMA would be an understatement. So far I have tried 5 AMA syringes and they have been top notch.

Strength is there in the oil, takes a lot of hits

Due to the restricted airflow many hits are required to get a strong effect. The strength is there. Just instead of taking 4 big hits on a regular CCELL, I have to take 8-10 smaller hits. It does not really waste more oil, just more of an effort to get the right effect.

game time vape cartridge test results
79.4% THC is pretty strong for the Game Time vape cartridge.

Game Time cartridge had great taste

Everytning about the taste was right. Good balance and not too much terpenes. I prefer more strength over more terpenes any day. Most distillates taste good without a lot of extra terps.

Cartridge was efficient despite its airflow issues

There was almost now waste by the end of the Game Time vape cartridge. It was efficient as far as not wasting any oil. It was innefficient as far as wasting your breath to get a lot of hits out of it because the air is restricted.

Number of Puffs was good, but for the wrong reason

You get a lot of puffs out of this cartridge. I would strongly prefer fewer and bigger puffs though. Points docked here because the reason for the higher number of puffs is not the reason a vape cartridge should score high in this category.

Value would be better in another cart style or if it was a syringe

If Game Time comes out with a syringe that has the same oil, I would get that even if it meant having to buy my own cartridge to put it in. Value is hurt by the overall experience, which has poor airflow. A little bit higher cost on their end for a better cart build would greatly boost the value of a Game Time cartridge.

In conclusion, their vape cartridge build makes me want to skip Game Time vape cartridges on the next round. I think in the long run they will switch to a better cartridge. Then we can change this Game Time review to a more positive one. The oil was definitely done correctly, the hardware is where it fails.

What do you think of our Game Time vape cartridge review? Did you have a different experience?
