Supreme Pods Review : Surprisingly Effective, Efficient and Flavorful

supreme pods review
[sc name=”AMP_Rating”]Supreme Pods, also known as Supreme G Extracts pods, are THC pods that are compatible with Juul batteries. Although they seem to be made from Supreme, they’re actually from the creators of Canawoods according to their Instagram account. After reviewing the Supreme G Pods, they surprisingly turned out to be amazing tasting and efficient, well made pods. These are not do be confused with Supreme cartridges, which are an untested, possibly fake cartridge.

Pros:

  • Amazing taste
  • Efficient hardware
  • Thick hits

Cons:

  • Doesn’t feel as potent

Supreme G Pods first post was misleading, but came back with positive lab results

It’s unfortunate how they shared inauthentic lab results. Photo from datdude41510

As shown above, Supreme G Extracts shared their lab results, displaying quality and potent oil. To begin, their first post shown above was false, DatDude41510 contacted the company that tested Supreme G’s, they claimed they never tested them.

Goof thing that they came back strong, showing no sort of pesticides and over 90% Cannabinoid content!

Strawberry Cough gives an amazing high

supreme pods strawberry cough
Strawberry cough gives an amazing flavor, tasting identical to strawberry candy.

When I first un-packaged this pod, I didn’t expect much just because I thought that they are originally made by Supreme themselves. Supreme may not have a reputable background but from our research, they seem to be created by another company. Even though they’re originally made by Canawoods, neither company has much information about them nor are found on Weed maps.

Despite their lack of origins, we did love almost everything about the Supreme G pods. From the way it rips to the taste, they turned out to be very efficient and smooth. Something about this Pod is that at first, you need to pull it 3 times to actually start getting good hits. This allows the distillate to absorb into the coil, allowing it to burn efficiently.

supreme pods package
To start actually getting good rips you have to take a few hits in advance.

Moderate oil, but didn’t feel as potent

supreme g pods oil quality
The distillate do have a nice strong and thick density to it, but don’t feel as potent as they look.

The Supreme G Pods holds 1000 mg/1 gram of distillate inside the pod. Although they say to be at 94% THC, they personally didn’t taste as potent. Even though the oil is thick in density, the high felt light. Still satisfying, but I needed multiple hits to even feel a good buzz. Good thing that this Supreme Pod is very efficient, allowing you to hit it a lot without wasting much oil.

Amazing and sweet, satisfying taste

The flavor we tried was Strawberry Cough and it has such a fascinating taste to it, it’s not harsh what so ever. Every hit, all through out the pod always hits smooth and clean, never rough nor would it drawback. This particular strain tasted a lot like a strawberry candy. Again, it was nice and light, the flavor didn’t taste too strong nor taste artificial. If only they provided with new lab results, I can ensure what’s in the distillate, making them more reputable.

Supreme G Pods is efficient and does last a while

This pod lasted me around 3-4 days, which is normal for me to finish a gram of distillate. Something I noticed is how long and durable it is, making it easy to conserve your oil. Because of how light it was for me, I did vape it consistently and more often than not. This resulted in me finishing the pod a lot quicker than if I would if it were more potent.

An inside look of the Supreme Pod

supreme pods atomizer
The atomizer uses a wicked wire that is denser and bigger than any ordinary pods and cartridges.

Disarming the Supreme pod was surprisingly easy to take apart. All I did was detach the bottom plastic with pliers, and the coil should be able to come off easily. Furthermore, this pod uses a wick that is wrapped around cotton, similar to the hemp pods. Only difference is, unlike the hemp pods, these pods are actually durable and of quality. They always give great tasting hits, I don’t think I ever got any harsh or burnt hits throughout the pod.

What if my Supreme Pod is leaking?

This is a major problem with most Juul compatible pods. Some pods can’t withstand the density of oil and starts leaking either on the bottom or mouth piece. If this happens, the best thing you can do is change the pod and move the oil from one pod or cartridge to another.

Although there isn’t much you can do fixing it, you can do a few things to prevent this from happening. First off, do NOT keep the pod in the Juul for extensive periods of time. This will cause it to slightly drip out from the bottom of the pod. Also, these pods should be sealed with the piece of plastic already provided underneath the pod itself. If you break the seal or leave it in warm temperatures, this can cause it to leak. You can also prevent this by removing your Supreme Pod while charging your battery.

Supreme G Pods vs Bare Pods

supreme pods vs bare pods
Taking a closer look, Bare Pods use a ceramic coil, which does give very light hits. As for Supreme Pods, they stronger, wicked coil.

Both amazing tasting pods, at the same time neither have official lab results out. But without a doubt, Supreme Pods do rip a lot better than the Bare Pods. Bare pods may be a bit more credible, but they use such a weak coil on their pod. This makes it hard to get any good hits, whereas Supreme Pods always give thick hits.

From an inside look, the Supreme G Pods has a more efficient atomizer compared to the Bare Pod. Because of this, I would prefer Supreme pods over Bare’s, the coil really does make a difference in smoke quality.

Above all, Supreme Pods are flavorful and satisfying to smoke

In conclusion, the Supreme pod really is enjoyable and mellow to vape. I highly recommend you try Supreme Pods flavors if you ever come across them! For you heavy smokers (depending which flavor) they might not feel as strong, but still is tasteful and efficient. As for light smokers, this is perfect if you don’t want to get baked in the first few hits.

FlytLab Stik Review : Quality and Wide Atomizer Allows For Cloudy Hits

flytlab stik review

The FlytLab Stik dab pen is a very simple, sleek and easy to use pen primarily made for concentrate. Giving strong and potent hits, this battery has a large capacity atomizer, allowing for a bigger and heavy pack. Although it does have a high price tag, its performance and efficiency is currently unmatched.

Pros:

  • Packs heavy hits
  • Burns smooth and evenly
  • Simple to use
  • Neat and discreet design

Cons:

  • Gets dirty easily and quickly
  • Mouth piece clogs up frequently
  • Price

Recommendations: A lower price would make it more attractive to more people.

Unpacking the FlytLab Stik

flytlab stik unboxing
This sleek battery comes with a lot more than you’d expect, apart from the battery it comes with a few neat items.

Unboxing the FlytLab Stik amazed me as to everything that comes with it. Furthermore, the FlytLab comes with the battery itself, two atomizers, and charging cord and dock. It also comes with a few nice stickers, a small portable dab tool and a hat pin! The fact that it comes with 2 atomizers is already nice, the other merchandise it includes is just a plus.

flytlab stik dab tool
The FlytLab Stik comes with a convenient and portable dab tool you can take anywhere.

Another thing it comes with is a plastic cover to help enhance airflow. This battery already comes with one and is located underneath the mouth piece. At first, I had no idea what it was for but while cleaning it I accidentally pulled this piece off. I did try hitting it without this piece on, but each hit wasn’t nearly as satisfying as with it on.

flytlab stik package
This piece does dramatically help with its airflow and can easily be replaced and removed with a dab tool. I should warn you, it is very fragile and can break easily.

A simple and convenient design

flytlab stik
This sleek battery has a smooth design that makes it simple to use.

The FlytLab Stik is very straight forward, its simplicity makes it easy to use. For its price, I expected a more complex pen but it really isn’t that complicated. With 3 clicks it turns on and once on, you can change the temperature settings with just 2 clicks. You can choose from 4 different heating temperatures, from lowest to highest. Another convenient feature it has is it tells you how much battery it has left. You can tell by holding the power button for a little over 5 seconds when the battery is off.

The FlytLab Stik has multiple compartments that magnetizes together

Something I like a lot about this battery is how it connects and secures magnetically. This FlytLab contains multiple magnetic connections, from the charging dock, the heating chambers and the mouth piece. This sleek battery will fit smoothly and discreetly on your palm or pocket.

Another feature I love is how the mouth piece is designed, it really does give smooth comfort on the lips. Additionally, the mouth piece comes with a cover, helping prevent dirt and dust getting inside. The only down side with this mouth piece is how clogged it gets. It doesn’t clog up fast but when it does you won’t be able to hit it at all and it’ll just burn your wax. When this happens to me, I always end up taking out a bigger glob than I’d expect of straight oil, not resin.

flytlab stik battery
Although the outside of the mouth piece doesn’t get clogged or dirty easily, the inside of it does quickly.

Atomizers pack big and heavy hits, regardless of which atomizer is used

The FlytLab Stick comes with two different atomizers, a ceramic atomizer and a dual quartz coil. Both atomizer have a broad heating chamber capacity, larger than most wax pens, allowing for big and heavy packs. I should mention that this battery does get dirty quickly for both of these coils. As long as you clean it frequently, it won’t clog up or get messy as quick.

The dual quarts coil is my personal favorite for the fact that it gives very thick and heavy hits. I’ve always preferred quartz over ceramic coils just because of how it hits and how quick it gets me high. Depending the temperature you choose, this coil does rip and will get you high instantly. I should mention that you won’t feel anything at first while hitting, just because of how smooth it hits. But after a long hit, you do feel it heavily in your lungs and throat once exhaling.

flytlab stik quartz coil
This particular atomizer may not be as durable as the ceramic, but does give strong and cloudy rips.

With the ceramic atomizer, it gives smoother and cleaner hits. As always, ceramic coils always give more gentle smoke, vaporizing the dabs more and allowing for efficient and tasteful hits. This coil has to be the best ceramic atomizer I’ve tried yet on any dab pens. We’ve reviewed other dab pens like the Ceram-x and the Saber, and we thought both ceramic coils gave too light hits. This coil that the FlytLab comes with gives thicker vapor than any normal ceramic atomizer would.

flytlab stik ceramic coil
As for this atomizer, it hits a lot more evenly and effortless than the quartz coil.

The FlytLab Stik is fairly efficient, but not as discreet when vaping

Because of the wide atomizer it provides, you can pack a heavy dabs that may last you a while. A feature this battery has is the “Flyt” mode, this mode is always on and can’t be changed. All you have to do is press the button once to turn on. It will show a red light signifying that it’s heating up and only lasts 2 seconds. After, you don’t have to press anything and it will heat up for around 10 seconds than stops heating automatically. You can take a shorter hit by simple pressing the button once more while it’s heating. This helps when trying to be efficient and conserve dabs.

On the other hand, I always take huge and heavy hits, which does finish the dabs quicker regardless which atomizer you use. Of course, it varies depending the temperature you prefer but the FlytLab does last a decent amount of hits. When it is on the highest two temperature, it tends to burn quickly within 3-6 hits. After that, it will still have some dabs left but it melts fast underneath the coil and will turn to resin.

Apart from that, this pen does smell loud when smoking and will leave a strong scent behind. It will sometimes even smell with just taking off the mouth piece cover or the heating chamber. This battery may be discreet and portable, but without a doubt leaves an odor behind after frequent uses. Disregarding how much it smells, I still think it’s worth it because of how strong each hit is.

The battery had a decent life, average compared to othersflytlab stik charger

Although the FlytLab needs a specific charger, it stands pleasantly when charging. This will vary depending how often you smoke, but personally I went through the FlytLab battery fairly quick. The battery lasted me around 2-3 days, which is decent but for it’s price I expected it to last a little longer. Apart from that, the good thing is that you can check the battery life and it only takes 1-2 hours to charge. The charging compartment is magnetic as well and does stand nice and straight while charging. Something neat is how this battery turns off automatically after a while of not using it, helping conserve it’s life.

For the price, is the FlytLab Stick actually worth it?

This vape does cost $100 which is relatively expensive compared to other dab pens. The biggest advantage to the FlytLab in my opinion is how much this pen packs and how strong it rips. But if it’s worth it depends on preference and how often you will use it.

If you want something quick and easy, you can find a $20 dab pen that will get the job done anywhere. For instance, the G Pen Nova is an inexpensive and simple pen, but you sacrifice quality. The thing is that it only lasted me a few months and didn’t give nearly as heavy hits.

Overall, the FlytLab Stik is a potent and sleek battery that packs a punch

In conclusion, the FlytLab Stik is a convenient battery that I believe to be one of the strongest batteries we’ve tried. Disregarding the price, I do believe this pen can be worth it if you’re a heavy dabber looking for a portable yet potent pen. If you prefer vaping cartridges over wax, than we recommend the Vessel battery for its smooth and tasteful hits, but I do highly recommend this battery for those who want to take heavy dabs anywhere on the go. I recommend this to every user that loves dabs as much as I do with big rips. You can find out more details on the Stik dab pen here!

Dank Vapes vs Mario Carts: Which One Is a Better THC Cartridge?

11
dank vapes vs mario carts

With the new packaging out on both of these cartridges, popularity following skepticism has risen for both brands. Here, we do a compare Dank Vapes vs Mario Carts and clarify which one actually is better.

Dank Vapes vs Mario Carts: Which one is more credible?

Both of these companies don’t have the best background, having had pesticides issues and no assurance of their legitimacy. Also, because of how many fake cartridges are being distributed, there’s a lot of confusion and uncertainty smoking these. While Dank Vapes changed their overall packaging, Mario Carts updated the style of their cartridge.

If you are looking for something better than both, check out our top vape cartridge picks for California and Nevada. If you can get those brands, you are better off.

UPDATE 9/11/2019: DISCLAIMER: In light of more recent news, it has become apparent that black market cartridges, counterfeit cartridges, and fake brands of cartridges have become more widespread than we had ever realized. We urge readers to apply their own discretion, and caution that at no point should readers assume that a review of a cartridge on our site is a guarantee of its safety. We advise readers to always verify their cartridges as coming from a legitimate source.

UPDATE 5/17/2020: It has become evident that at this point all Dank Vapes and Mario Carts are only packaging. Therefore this comparison is null and void.

With the new Dank Vape cartridges, each strain comes in a different color in the label.
mario carts
Mario carts most have the brands name engraved inside the cartridge itself now.

Dank Vapes and Mario Carts both failed in tests, containing pesticides

Unfortunately, both of these brands have negative lab results, containing pesticides and false THC percentages. Whereas they claim to be 80-90% THC, their test show a to be 60-70%.

Dank Vapes vs Mario Carts lab results:

Dank Vapes: Testing positive in at least 5 types of pesticides on this test.
mario carts pesticide
Mario Carts: Showing negative results with 5 different pesticides as well.

Do they contain any additives or artificial flavors?

This frequently asked question goes along with both of these cartridges. Due to the lack of information, there is no 100% telling what exactly is infused with these distillates. As mentioned earlier, although Dank Vapes and Mario Carts tests don’t show additives, they do show the existence of pesticides.

When we tried the old Dank Vapes, the Fruity Pebbles strain did taste like it had harsh additives. Giving too strong of a taste and feeling harsh on the throat at times. The rest of them had a well balance and savory taste to them, but the oil is still unknown.

dank vapes flavors
This is very unfortunate, for Dank Vapes has always tased great in our experience, but regardless it’s still not very safe.

Whereas Dank Vapes always has a unique taste, Mario Carts LA Confidental and Mac 1 gave a bland taste. Strawberry Pie did give more taste, but it vapes hot on the throat and the berry taste is too strong.

mario carts flavors
The LA Confidental does give a slight better taste, but they both still taste neutral.

When it comes to taste, Dank Vapes delivers great and amazing flavors. The Mario Carts I tried really did have little to no taste to it, making it dissatisfying to smoke.

Dank Vapes vs Mario Carts: Which one provided more Strength and THC?

Claiming to be up to 90% THC, both companies have lower strength than they say to have. With Dank Vapes, they claim to be over 90% THC when their lab results show to be 60-65% THC. As with Mario Carts, they claim up to 87% THC and actually show 69% THC.

After reviewing both brands, they did give an equal high that would need a few hits to feel something. It’s a bit hard to tell, but personally I prefer Dank Vapes. Neither brand are as potent or give a strong high as I’d like. The Space Vape outperformed both. But smoking Dank Vapes is a lot more enjoyable with the flavors they have.

Efficiency on Mario Carts is slightly better

This all depends on preference, but personally I think that Dank Vapes smokes a lot quicker than Mario Carts. The reason for this is because of how much smoother and tastier Dank Vapes are. They give such a rich taste that makes me want to consistently vape this cartridge. Whereas Mario Carts aren’t nearly as tasty, or as pleasant to smoke.

Both of these brands use durable and well-built cartridges. Mario Carts use a rod & coil vaporizer with a ceramic atomizer, giving fairly smooth rips. Extended draws will produce large clouds on this cartridge.

Dank Vapes use authentic CCELL cartridges, a very popular cart used in many brands (Jetty Extracts, Select Oil, stick e vape and Roots, to name a few). This well known cartridge brand uses a ceramic atomizer, known for its consistency and taste. The only unfortunate thing about this is that there are many fake CCELL cartridges going around, being pre-filled with who knows what oil. Although they both give nice clouds, I would go through a Dank Vapes cartridge a lot quicker than a Mario Carts cartridge.

Dank Vapes vs Mario Carts in value

First off, the price between these two range around the same price, which is around $30-$40. Sometimes it may be a little more or less, depending where you’re from but on average it’s around there.

Second, neither of these companies are as reliable and trustworthy as they should be. Both of them failed for pesticides, have lower THC than they claim and have many fakes being sold. There’s tremendous uncertainty on both companies and no one knows if they’re even legit in the first place.

From our research, we’d have to say that the more credible and known company would be Dank Vapes. Like I said earlier, none of these two companies are as dependable or safe. We do know that Dank Vapes appears to be made by Dankwoods, another company that does not seem to have any valid registration we can find. The reason we believe this is just because Dank’s are a lot more active on their Instagram account.

Mario Carts have no background or anything official to back them up. Based on information we have received, it does appear original Mario Carts hardware is made by Greenlight Vapes, who also makes Dabado Vaporizer’s products.

There are many fakes in the black market with both cartridges

This major problem is hurting both brands. Even though Dank Vapes updated their packaging for this reason, counterfeits replicated these new packaging in in less than a month. Fake Dank Vapes are being sold everywhere now, filled with artificial flavors. This same misfortune goes with Mario Carts, they may have changed their look but that hasn’t stopped the counterfeit market.

The only difference is that Dank Vapes are actually calling out fake sellers through their Instagram page. Whereas Mario Carts don’t have anything official in the first place.

What about Dank Vapes vs other cartridges?

If you have a suggestion for a vs article, by all means, tell us in the comments or on our Forum. We will be adding more versus posts as time goes by.

There’s a wide variety of different cartridges that are a lot more safer and cleaner to smoke. Cartridges, for instance Select Oil, Space Vape and more that give potent hits and an amazing high. It’s not that neither carts don’t give a nice high. It’s just that there is no telling what exactly you’re consuming or what’s even in their distillate.

The final conclusion for Dank Vapes vs Mario Carts

Above all, we have to say that Dank Vapes are more enjoyable to smoke than Mario Carts are. Disregarding both of their negative histories, Dank’s do give a more satisfying taste and high. If both companies fix all of these set backs, Dank Vapes would still be the winner between the two.

Bud Tank V16 Review: Great Quality Atomizer and Excellent Battery

bud tank v16 review

The Bud Tank V16 is the a cartridge oil pen system sold by Bud Tank. This comes as an empty cartridge system that you fill with your own oil whether it would be THC distillate, CO2 oil or CBD oil. The battery is not made for other types of cartridges but with a minor adjustment, we will show later below it works with CCELL and other cartridges extremely well too. The only downside we found on this pen is the price per cartridge. It’s a little bit expensive to replace the cartridges at $9 per cartridge and not being able to refill it.

bud tank v16
Bud Tank V16 Packaging
Pros:
  • Battery hits hard with Bud Tank and other cartridges
  • Cartridge can be locked for long term storage without leakage
  • High-quality atomizer
  • Strong hits
  • Easy to fill, no syringe tip needed
Cons:
  • Atomizers can only be used once
  • Individual atomizers are expensive
  • No micro USB charging
Recommendations: Make the atomizer reusable and a little bit cheaper. Add micro USB or USB-C charging.

Watch below our video review that goes over the basics of the Bud Tank V16. Keep reading to see our more in-depth review of the oil pen system.

The Bud Tank V16 turned out to be a really excellent quality product overall

The atomizer core is ceramic and you can tell it by the taste. There’s no burning taste. All the oils are used efficiently from start to end. Just holding the Bud Tank V16 with battery and atomizer together in your hand, you can feel the quality of this build. The ceramic mouth tip is really nice. Airflow is great. Really the only downsides are you cannot reload it after one use and the price,  but that may also be lower in the future. On top of that, the battery really works well with CCELL and other cartridges. Almost on par with the Palm and Silo batteries.

There are a some extra instructions for the V16

A couple of features on the V16 go above and beyond your regular cartridge system. Below are the extra instructions on using it.

Lock and Unlock Mechanism of Atomizer

The first thing you’ll notice is there is a lock and unlock symbol printed on the side of the cartridge. You put the cartridge in the lock position when you’re not gonna be hitting it for a while and letting it sit. If you look closely you can see that this actually locks close the area that absorbs the oil. This is a great solution to keep cartridges from leaking. However, unless left sideways for a really long time I have yet to let a CCELL cartridge leak either. But, some brands do have leaking issues such as the Hempod pod.

Bud Tank V16 Battery with Sesh Mode Setting

The other thing about the V16 which I really didn’t realize until after some of my oil was gone is that it also has a Sesh Mode. This Sesh Mode keeps the battery on for a set amount of time. However, be warned! Do not leave the Sesh Mode on when you are using a different type of atomizer besides the ones that come with the V16.

I accidentally was clicking sesh mode on and I thought the tank was getting stuck. Well, it got stuck. I didn’t know I had to turn it off right away and it ended up burning my oil in a CCELL cartridge. Good thing it was already close towards the end because it left a burning taste for sure on the oil and the oil even changed color a little bit. Make sure that you only use the sesh mode with the V16 atomizer. We’ll be trying that again later and updating this review further with that as well.

bud tank v16 packaging
Bud Tank V16 Inside Packaging and Contents

Hit strength is really excellent with V16

Really on par with the best. The Bud Tank V16 cartridge and battery really go well together. It really hits strong. This is the first cartridge that I put on par with CCELL as far as being as strong and smooth with no scratchiness in your throat at all. You can really tell when you hit it that the build quality on the atomizer is good. You do not get that weird metallic like taste that you get when you hit the Brass Knuckles cartridges. At this point, this is on par with CCELL and top quality atomizers out there.

Efficiency was really great

Efficiency was on par with the best on the Bud Tank V16 atomizers. There were no issues with efficiency at all. Efficiency was perfect until the very end of the oil. There seemed that there’s nothing lost here. And this seems as efficient as any oil cartridge there is at this point. There are just coming out some atomizers that oil drips down into the holes, but at this point the V16 is at the peak of available efficiency.

The Bud Tank V16 is really discreet and portable

It uses a standard style stick battery but this does not just put out like regular clouds. There really is something better about this battery than other stick batteries I have tried that makes it put out a harder hit. It also pairs perfectly with the atomizer as will be expected.

How to use the Bud Tank V16 battery with other cartridges

The Bud Tank V16 can be used with other cartridges including CCELL. As long as they’re 510 threaded and voltages are close enough.

Here’s what you need to do though because airflow doesn’t always work:

Slightly unscrew the cartridge by about a half turn from the battery. This gives the airlfow the battery it needs. The battery does not have airhole slits in it to work properly with other cartridges. However, this fixes it because you’re still getting enough contact and just letting in enough air to get a hit. You’ll be surprised how great this hits on other cartridges. Just make sure you leave the sesh mode off for non-Bud Tank carts.

Taste is excellent due to the ceramic core and quality hardware

Taste on V16 is pretty much close to perfect as you will get on an oil pen setup. It tasted exactly the same as a CCELL setup, but here is one thing to keep in mind on taste. Don’t use this battery and hit other types of cartridges too hard because you may burn other cartridge’s cotton area and burn oil then you’ll be low on taste. That’s not Bud Tank’s fault because this setup is made to be used together with their cartridge. When Bud Tank is paired together everything seems to work perfectly. The problem is you won’t find cartridges out there from Bud Tank just yet that are pre-filled.

bud tank v16 oil pen system
Bud Tank V16 Setup

Bud Tank V16 replacement cartridges are expensive and not refillable

The price per cartridge is $9 compared to CCELL cartridges at around $5 which makes V16 considerably more expensive. However, the quality is really good but it is hard to say whether or not it is worth the extra money. It’s worth trying out something else different and it is possible the price may be lower in the future. Not being able to refill the V16 also makes it more expensive. Most people will use their cartridge 2-3 times before it is considered done.

Comparing the Bud Tank V16 to other cartridge systems

I would put the Bud Tank 16 on par with CCELL cartridges. Specifically, I would put it on par with the ones I have with the ceramic tip which I think are the best. Pretty much Bud Tank V16 at this point is one of the best oil pen systems I’ve ever tried. Comparing it to Stiizy pen, it blows it away, even when you’re filling Stiiizy with good oil. Having the same quality oil with each one, this is a much better set up and gives much stronger hits. This battery on the max setting can give even a little bit stronger hits than the CCELL setup on a CCELL cartridge, but don’t hit it too hard as you might get some burn.

Comparing it to the G Pen Gio or Pax Era, it completely blows them away, not even close.

Concluding our Bud Tank V16 review…

Overall the Bud Tank V16 outputs very large hits. It has excellent taste and uses very high-quality hardware. The only downside here is the cost of replacement cartridges and that you cannot refill it.

The other great thing about Bud Tank V16 is the battery works with other cartridges. You have to screw it on a little bit lighter to get that to work right but it does hit them pretty hard. Make sure you don’t leave sesh mode on with another type of cartridge as you might burn it up.

We will definitely be using the Bud Tank V16 again. This would be a great setup to see available in the stores already prefilled, especially considering the fact they can lock it out. The carts can be in storage for a long time without any negative effects. The only downside we see here is price. The cost is more than CCELL cartridges and you cannot refill it. In performance though it does push out a bit harder hits.

Exotic Carts Review: THC Cartridge Delivers Strong Hits, But Untrustworthy

exotic carts review

After testing and reviewing Exotic Carts, we are still questioning it’s authentication. We tried it with the G Pen Nova, giving it strong hits and thick smoke to it. Although its oil quality is strong, there is no information about the company itself out there. With that being said, we can’t be sure if the product is pure nor the legitimacy of this company. It may be one of the many fake cartridges out there.

Pros:

  • Good oil quality
  • Very efficient
  • Strong hits and thick smoke

Cons:

  • May give harsh hits
  • Has a burnt aftertaste to it
  • These carts can’t be reliable

Recommendations: Provide more information about the brand company as well as tested lab results with it.

Update 6/6/2018: New Packaging

exotic carts
@OfficialExoticCarts
exotic carts
Recent Updated Exotic Carts

As shown above, there recently has been a switch on the packaging itself. This isn’t new, it’s been this way since the beginning of 2018. Although they seem more authentic and more of a legit company, people still question it’s authenticity. See our Fake Exotic Carts post to see if your cartridge is legit or not.

It did give strong hits, but also followed with harsh hits

The Exotic Cart Gelato flavor does have a strong, lemony taste to it. It was nice at first, until it started giving harsh hits. Most times, it would have a burnt after taste. This surprised me because it will come and go. Besides this, it did give hits strong enough to get you high with only a couple of rips.

Oil quality did feel potent, but still questionable

exotic carts oil quality
Although the oil quality tasted strong and potent, we aren’t 100% sure what’s in it.

This Exotic Cart really did catch me by surprise. Because of the lack of credibility, I personally didn’t expect much from this cartridge. Soon to realize that I did get very high with just a couple of hits. The oil this flavor comes with has a thick wax consistency to it. Anywhere between 3-10 hits will guarantee you a great feeling.

Design is typical and mouth piece came off

There’s nothing special with the design of the distillate. Apart from this, the mouth piece is removable. It is a twist on, which makes it difficult to trust the actual quality of this cart.

Exotic carts aren’t reliable nor credible

The only thing about this company is that there are many vendors selling fake Exotic carts. This allows shady vendors to put in whatever they want in the distillate. Additionally, it is difficult to differentiate them between fake and real Exotic carts. Because of this, it can’t be fully trustworthy.

Strong and durable, lasting distillate

First off, the Exotic cart is a lot more efficient than I expected. There are a good amount of hits to it and it did last me a few days. Depending how often you smoke, you’ll just need a few hits per day (or per hour) and you’ll be set. Second, it gives very thick smoke to it. This gives more strength getting you high quicker and easier.

The unfortunate part of this is that it isn’t as discreet as I’d like it to be

Because of the strong hits it gives, it does leave a loud, sweet scent to it. You may not realize it at the moment, but it will leave a strong smell in your environment. It’s more of a fruity smell rather than a skunk like smell, so it doesn’t stick and stay forever.

There is no exact THC percentage or any lab test results

exotic cart back of packaging
These carts claim to be tested and clean, but there are many fakes being sold out there.

On the back side of the packaging, Exotic carts have a lot of claims to it. Although it says it is pesticide free and 80-85% THC, this packaging is sold everywhere online through companies in China. As mentioned earlier, there is a lot of confusion on the legitimacy of this company. We unfortunately have to be skeptical of them because of the lack of information on it. The research that is available online from Reddit and other sources seem to feel the same way.

Apart from this, Exotic carts do not provide a website. They do have an official Instagram page with a few posts. Also, it is very difficult to tell the difference between fakes due to the lack of data.

An inside look of this cartridge

exotic carts disarmed
The design of this cartridge is made with decent quality, although can be improved

Here is an inside look of this cartridge as show above. It actually looks very similar as the Mario carts. Something that I disliked about this design is how it’s built in the bottom part. The thickness of it makes it difficult to take hits once you are low on oil.

exotic carts coil
The atomizer this comes with it may give thick smoke, but they’re harsh hits.

It comes in a plastic single cotton, quartz coil, which is better than I imagined. I expected a stronger atomizer just because it did give thick smoke when hitting it. The wire is wrapped around this coil and goes through, to the bottom of it.

Exotic cart VS Mario carts

exotic carts vs mario carts
In comparison, they’re both great but still skeptical and aren’t as legit.

Although we did like both of these carts, neither the Exotic carts nor Mario carts are very trustworthy. They both do have strong hits to them and good quality oil. Unfortunately, they also came with a couple of burnt and harsh after-taste. If we had to choose, we would prefer Exotic carts over Mario carts. There was a recent test that show Mario Carts THC coming in at 69.35%, giving it a disadvantage. Still, we recommend you to purchase cleaner cartridges that have been lab-tested.

To conclude our Exotic carts review: They great but unfortunately suspicious

exotic carts gelato flavor
No matter how much we liked the strength it has, we still can’t fully trust these.

I personally did like the potency of this cart. Disregarding the harsh and burnt taste to it, it can be worth the price. I wish that I can put more value to it, but the credibility really lowers the value of this cart. I would just much prefer knowing that the oil I’m smoking is clean and quality with no pesticides in it.

Depending where you’re from, these Exotic carts can range anywhere between $40-$60. Some people say there are vendors selling them for an even higher price. Although we like these carts, our final analysis must recommend against them. Without the guarantee of a legitimate company, we will never know if it actually contains pesticides. It’s also too easy to fake the product if a company isn’t legit. They really don’t have the means to fight any fraud. With so many lab-tested products on the market today, it’s worth the extra few dollars to stay safe.

Plug Play Vape Review : Possibly The Strongest THC Oil Pen Out There

plug and play vape review

Plug Play vape cartridges are only available around the Los Angeles area. This is not your typical vape pod cartridge system. Plug Play pods contain premium THC oil. It only takes one puff to experience an instant head change. The pod design provides a superb vaping experience backed with a lot of strength. Doing this Plug Play vape review was a consistently strong dabbing experience. Vaping is very smooth, and the pods are capable of emitting big vape clouds.

Update: March 8, 2018: Plug and Play has relabeled their brand to Plug Play vape

UPDATE 12/30/19: Plug Play now uses CannVerify on their products. See this post for updates on packaging and a demo shot of the CannVerify process.

Recently, Plug Play made our best cartridges California list!

Design and build quality of Plug Play vape cartridges are brilliant!

plug and play vape pen
Plug Play vape pen 500 Mah battery

These are ceramic heating based pods that make all the difference! Vaping performance is incredible! It feels closer to a dab rig more so than any other vape cartridge that I’ve tried. The ceramic heating gives a clean potent hit for each vape. The design of this vape pen conceals its THC oil pods for discreteness. Plug Play vape pods are very durable and resistant to breaking from drops because its made from plastic. No glass to crack.

plug play vape pen box
The back of the Plug Play vape battery box shows it is 500mah.

There were some minor design flaws in our eyes that kept this vape pen from being 100% perfect. They are taking the Apple approach and trying to lock its customers into having to buy their charging cable if it’s lost.

The Plug Play vape cable originally was not a standard micro-USB charging cable. Update 7/24/2018: Charger is now standard micro-USB. It used to have pins that magnetically snap onto the vape pen. The battery fully charges within an hour and lasts a couple of days of heavy use which is the benefit of the cable. Most of us probably would have preferred to see USB-C (aka Thunderbolt) being used here, which is the new standard on Android devices, and charges faster than standard USB 3.0.

In our Kandypens Prism review, we found the lighting charging port to be a nice bonus. It’s nice to be able to find a cable cheap and easy, even if it is not for your phone type.

Plug Play charging connection has three battery connection points.

Updated 7/2018 – Plug and play made the switch to a micro USB charging connection.

Plug Play updated their charging connection to a micro-USB in July 2018.

Premium THC oil is outstanding and stronger than most.

The Plug Play vape pod packaging claims it pods are filled with grade A cannabis solventless extract. The THC oil is so thick that it does not move. The color of the THC oil is a beautiful gold transparent. This premium THC oil will set the standards for those lucky enough to try it. Those who are after THC strength are going to enjoy the many potent vape cartridge options available.

The strength of Plug Play THC oil is the strongest I have tried so far.

plug and play vape pod
Incredibly strong THC oil prefilled vape pods from https://www.plugplayallday.com

I underestimated the strength of the Plug Play vape cartridges. The packaging states these pods average from seventy to eighty percent of THC content. What surprised me was these vape pod cartridges felt more powerful than others I’ve tried that reported higher THC amounts. These felt stronger than Stiiizy pods that claim they are 85% THC. Limonene and other parts play an effect here as well.

I was lucky enough to try four different strains from Plug Play, and they all had consistently high strength. What I liked about Plug Play vape cartridges is not having to chase after the THC. After two good hits, I could get the full desired effects from the THC oil.

plug and play vape cartridge review
I tried out four different pods from Plug Play.

I was the biggest Stiiizy vape pen fan for the longest because of the THC oil strength proclaimed at 85% on average. When I first had Stiiizy last year, I remember the strength being out of this world. After being a loyal Stiiizy vape pen user, I notice the strength felt like it was getting weaker. Then pops up online an independent lab test on Stiiizy from Instagram user datdude41510 which revealed a lower percent of THC found, only 68% of THC was detected in the lab test for the Stiiizy Hardcore OG strain.

I have refilled Stiiizy pods and found that Stiiizy overall is a pesticide-free and good quality oil, but the strength really comes from the hardware and not the oil itself. Stiiizy has found its hardware match with Plug Play vape pods.

Plug Play cartridges have some delicious tasting recipes.

plug and play cartridge
The graphics don’t look great, but it’s the hit that matters.

Plug Play created the perfect blend of clean and potent THC oil with just the right amount of added terpenes. The terpenes are just a hint making it not overwhelming at all and leaving more room for potency. Plug Play vape cartridges are outstanding with Fire OG being my favorite among the four I tried. My second favorite was the Pineapple with a very refreshing hint taste of pineapples. The Apple Slushie reminded me of a green apple jolly rancher. The Strawberry Campagne vape cart was also very nice.  I found myself wanting more of as I came close to running out. I would buy all of these vape cartridge flavors again.

plug and play vape cartridges review
Plug Play vape is great for taking with on a hike.

Efficiently is on another level for prefilled cartridges and pods.

plug and play vape cartridge
Plug Play use ceramic coils.

There are no other vape cartridges or pods out there right now like Plug Play. The ceramic heating coils create smooth and potent hits similar to a dab rig. There is no burn on the throat from the vape from vaping Plug Play pods. It only takes one hit to feel a rush of THC transition you into being very high. The best example would be equivalent to smoking an entire joint of very high-quality indoor cannabis. The amount of time this vape cartridge system saves pays for itself. It just keeps getting better and better the improvement of vaping technology and ceramic heating coils were just the next logical step forward.

The number of puffs seem like a lot when you don’t need many.

The best thing about Plug Play is you do not need as much to feel medicated. I have a high tolerance and found myself needing only two full rips for a good quality session. Each puff will give a very strong effect so much that it’s almost unbelievable that it is coming from such a small device. A puff from Plug Play vape cartridges has much better airflow than other pods and cartridges I tried. It also had an excellent consistency for each puff without clogging like Stiiizy pods.

The Plug Play pods and vape pens are worth every cent!

This vaping brand offers the most convenience for vaping strong cannabis extract. The “Play” vape pen battery costs $20.00. The prefilled THC oil vape cartridges are called “Plug” and cost $55 on average for a full gram. We recommend this vaping set up for those who want an easy and the most efficient way to vape cannabis extract. The prefilled vape cartridges will keep you coming back for more! Let us know about your experience with this great vaping brand.

My number one recommendation before trying out Plug Play was the Stiiizy vape pen and their pods. I had spent well over a half a grand on Stiiizy pods as it became my number one go-to for my every day vaping use. There always felt like something was missing from Stiiizy pods and I found that with Plug Play. It is yet to see if this will be an exclusive oil pen form factor or if we will see it come out with other oil types. Thanks for checking out our Plug Play vape review. See our Reviews page for more vape cart reviews.

Silver State Trading Vape Cartridge Review : Good Oil, Hardware Dated

sst vape
The SST vape uses good quality oil, but could use better hardware.

Silver State Trading makes a THC vape cartridge with an interesting color distillate. How does this red colored concentrate SST vape stack up? See here in our review of the Silver State Trading vape cartridge. If you are searching for carts in Nevada, be sure to also check out our list of the best cartridges in Nevada.

Design And Build Quality: Same Cart As Moxie

Build Was Standard, Solid

Silver State Trading uses the same cartridge as we saw in the Moxie cartridge review. These carts are built solid. I dropped this cartridge and many with similar styles and have not broken them, even though they are glass.

silver state trading vape cartridge
Nice packaging on the Silver State Trading vape cartridge.

Design Could Be Updated: Bigger Hits Would Result

These are sturdy, but they lack the newer tech of some of the better style cartridges out there. They do the job, but underperform compared to newer, better carts. This vape feels like another one where the hardware does not live up to the software. We would recommend that they change this cart on future batches. Had this oil been on a C-Cell cartridge or better yet a Stiiizy style setup, this THC cart would be ranking much higher overall.

Silver State Trading Has Some Good Oil

Pesticide Free

The oil in this vape is of good quality. There are no pesticides. This vape cart was purchased at NuLeaf in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. NV is strict as can be on testing. Pesticide-laden products are not making it to the shelf in this state.

sst vape thc content
Good THC content at 72.5%

Consistent Across Board, Interesting Color

The oil stayed the same consistency for the duration of the cartridge. The cartridge strain used in this review was Gorilla Glue #4. The strain used for this review is Gorrilla Glue #4. The color is amber as opposed to gold that you see on most cartridges. Nothing hanged on color either.

Decent Strength For Silver State Trading

Strength is decent but not mind blowing. You can tell the oil they are using is good quality, but it could go a lot farther with better hardware to increase strength. Check our Stiiizy review to see another form factor that would work good with this oil. This cartridge is just not able to pull the kind of rips some of the better 510s can either like the stick e vape.

I would like to find a Silver State Trading distillate syringe and use it to refill a Stiiizy pod. Then I would get the effect I am looking for. Going to keep an eye out for this next time I am in Nevada.

silver state trading vape cartridge
That amber colored oil looks even better in the sun.

SST Vape Had Great Taste

The taste on this vape cart was awesome. It did not taste like a lot, if any, terseness were added to it. I enjoy the straight taste of wax, but if you like a lot of flavor added, this might not be your vape. I would not change any thing about the taste on the Silver State Trading cart.

Cartridge Is Very Efficient

The cartridge uses holes very close to the bottom of where the oil is, so it is very efficient. Moxie uses the same exact cartridge and you can see a picture of it below.

moxie cartridge
The Moxie cartridge and Silver State Trading cartridge are the exact same build.

Its down to the last drop efficient. I would trade some of that efficiency for a harder hitting cart though.

Number of Puffs Excellent, As Expected

You get a lot of puffs out of a half gram Silver State Trading cartridge. The oil does not vape off too fast as it is not super thin. Part of the number of puffs being so high is due to the weaker hitting cart technology.

Value: Good Compared to Nevada Prices

Silver State Trading vape cartridges are in the middle end of pricing at $54 per half gram. Prices in Nevada are much higher than other areas, but you are almost guaranteed to be free of pesticides. Compared to other cartridges, this is the middle. The Moxie cart was $57 for comparison. Apply a happy hour discount of 20%, medical discount of 10%, and tax, it comes out to $37.89. If you can get it at that price like I did then its in the low price range for NV, and a much better value.

In California the average cart price seems to be around $30, so expect to pay more when crossing that state line. The safety of no pesticides is probably worth it though. See our vape pen pesticides page that show many popular brands failing tests.

Some Additional Info About SST

Silver State Trading is based in Sparks, NV and can be found at dispensaries in Nevada. In addition to vape cartridges they also make Envy confections (edibles), Jazz Cabbage (flower, oils, concentrates), and Trokie (an interesting looking cannabis lozenge).

In conclusion, doing this Silver State Trading review revealed a good quality oil that delivered decent strength. An improved cartridge design could take this oil a lot further, but even as is this is one I would try again. Flavor was great for those of us that don’t like too much added flavor. Trying the SST vape makes me want to try a distillate syringe of theirs when I can find it. I bet in a better cart setup it would be a lot stronger. We look forward to a hardware update from Silver State Trading and we will be re-reviewing this vape cart. You can learn more about SST here.

Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus : A Comparison of Puffco’s Two Vape Pens

1
puffco pro 2 vs plus

For this review, we will compare two Puffco models that people have recently been interested in. The Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus!

Puffco’s third vaporizer, the slim, polished Puffco Pro 2 is their smallest vape pen yet. Featuring a stainless-steel body and easy to access single coil chamber. It’s a good looking, solid little pen.

Puffco’s motto is “The New Standard”. The Puffco Plus is smooth and easy to use with the Puffco Dart, and we think original from top to bottom. In comparison to the Pro 2, the Plus is better overall (except for the tiny size difference). Is this $99 vape pen “the New Standard” in vaping?

Below are the individual category results of each vape pen review.

Model Design Ease Strength Efficiency Versatility Portability Discretion Taste Value Replacements Final Score
Pro 2 6 5 8 7 1 9 9 1 2 2 5
Plus 8 9 7 9 4 8 9 9 6 6 7.5

Design & Quality: Puffco Plus Wins

Puffco Pro 2

The PuffCo Pro 2 comes in a small plastic case that holds the battery, atomizer and mouthpiece, a wide (flat) loading tool, and a thread-on USB charger. The stainless-steel construction gives it a solid feel, and there’s a shock absorbing silicone cap on the bottom. This is a nice touch, for durability’s sake. A silicone splash guard has also been placed inside the mouthpiece.

The PuffCo Pro 2 is one of the smallest pens around at 12.5mm wide. However, the 430mAh battery means small capacity, and doesn’t last a long time. The Puffco Pro 2 battery threads together with the atomizer, and the mouthpiece easily twists off. To power the Pro 2, a squishy cloud shaped button is used to activate the vaporizer and cycle through each of the three heat settings. Double clicking will activate the newly added twelve second ‘sesh mode’, originally limited to the Puffco Plus.

The PuffCo Pro 2 employs a single white ceramic rod with an “Iron/chromium/aluminum alloy” wire wrapped around it four times. PuffCo support confirmed they specify Kanthal heating wire, and join their heating wire to non-resistance leads with crimps. However, they couldn’t satisfactorily answer why our heating wire had a large glob of unknown material inside the ceramic cup.

White ceramic is quite non-porous, it doesn’t have the capacity to absorb or wick oil. For that reason, the white rod serves mostly to hold the wire in place. A small amount of oil adheres when initially loaded, but once hot tends to run away from the hot wire. The thin wire wrapped only four times doesn’t provide much surface area for heat transfer. The air inlets have been moved for better airflow across the heater, which is a positive improvement.

Puffco Plus

The Puffco Plus looks like a vape pen designed by Apple, with a beautiful gunmetal design. The mouthpiece blends perfectly into the battery with just 4 small slits for airflow. Inside the mouthpiece you’ll see the new ceramic Puffco ‘Dart’ which acts as a dab tool, and a carb cap! This definitely comes in handy later.

For vapers who wish to stick with their own high-powered mod, the Puffco Plus may not be for you. Unlike the Puffco Pro 2 that uses a standard 510 connection, the Puffco Plus looks like an eGo connection. This prevents you from using other batteries. The 530mAh battery operating sub-ohm drains quickly, so if you like to use Sesh Mode on high, you’ll need to charge it within 30 minutes.

The Puffco Plus atomizer is a sub-ohm ceramic cup with 4 air holes in the middle. The heating element is a ceramic plate. Unlike cheap quality ceramic plate vaporizers, this ceramic cup fits snugly inside. A good line up on the ceramic plate is important for this type of atomizer, to avoid major leakage.

The Puffco Plus battery features a very subtle cloud light on the bottom of the battery. Just like the Pro 2, the silicone cloud power button is a nice change from the typical hard plastic button found on most vape pens. The battery has 3 standard heat settings. There is also the additional “Sesh Mode” option, which activates the battery and heats for 12 seconds on your select temperature.

The sub-ohm atomizer produces a lot of heat (like most coil-less atomizers). The outside of the chamber gets very hot with back to back Sesh Modes on High.

Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus
Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus [Left pic (Pro 2) sourced from greendoorwest.com]

Ease of Use: Puffco Plus’ Dart Takes The Cake

BOTH vape pens are extremely easy to assemble and use, as explained on enclosed instruction card;

Click the silicone cloud five times to turn the battery on or off. Press four times to get to the next heat level. Green for low (580 °), Blue for medium (650 °), and White for high power (720 °). Just double click to activate “Sesh” mode at any power setting. Sesh mode sends power for twelve seconds straight.

Having to remember to bring the charger with you is an added annoyance. A micro USB port could’ve made for a much easier set up. The threaded charger requires you to unthread the atomizer for each charge, which can also be a hassle.

The airflow on the PuffCo Pro 2 disappoints compared to other pens. I was surprised to find it difficult to inhale through the Pro 2’s atomizer. Even before the first load, the Pro 2 had a very restricted airflow.

The Puffco Plus is ridiculously easy to use. So far this vape pen wins the overall award for ease. To load your Puffco Plus twist the mouthpiece off quickly with a half turn. The Puffco ‘Dart’ is built inside the Plus mouthpiece. Acting as a dab tool, the ceramic tip picks up your material and perfectly places it on the heating element when screwed on. After you fill the Plus vape pen, just replace the mouthpiece and lock with a half-twist. This feature is a Puffco Plus winner, and really adds to ease of use.

Sesh Mode

When looking at Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus, you need to consider that even the same function works differently with different atomizers and batteries. PuffCo decided to incude “Sesh mode” in the Pro 2.  Pulse the button twice for 12 seconds of continuous heating. If you use this mode on Blue or White, buckle up – a lot of hot vapor is coming your way. I only enjoyed it on Low Green, and honestly just prefer taking another hit normally.

Sesh Mode shines more on the Puffco Plus. Load the pen easily using the Dart, pulse the button twice and puff away. Puffco Plus’s coil-less atomizer needs a few seconds to warm up to begin with, so 12 seconds works well. Unlike the Puffco Pro 2, which would burn wax after 6+ seconds of sesh mode as the coil got too hot.

Strength: Puffco Pro 2’s Coiled Atomizers Deliver Harder Hits Than The Plus

The Puffco Plus will give out strong hits, but this vape pen was really built for flavor. Sesh Mode on white (high) on the Plus is still not as strong as on the Pro 2!

The Puffco Pro 2 on the other hand is the opposite, with strong hits being one of its biggest features. Despite the restricted airflow, the Pro 2 effortlessly delivers clouds. Even the lowest setting churns out visible vapor hits, and White is hot enough to choke me out (maybe too hot for this coil). The Pro 2 packs a lot of power in a small package. However, the single wick coil doesn’t have the same quality of vapor or vapor production at any heat level, compared to a coil-less atomizer like the Plus.

Efficiency: The Coilless Atomizer On The Plus and The Dart Give The Plus a Win

The PuffCo Pro 2’s high powered heating wire ensures efficient use of your wax, but only if loaded sparingly. Too much and you’ll splatter un-vaped oil on the chamber walls and inside the splatter guard. The guard is effective at preventing splatter from reaching your mouth, but the shape makes it difficult to recover and use. I ended up taking it out and leaving it that way. Without a real wick to feed oils into the heater, a little oil pooling is unavoidable.

The Puffco Plus is one of the most efficient vape pens we’ve reviewed, so far. Unlike other ceramic plate atomizers, the Puffco Plus’ atomizer was snuggly fit with almost surgical precision. This means that almost no wax is lost or un-vaped. You’ll still get some wax on the walls, but this can be easily recovered since there aren’t any coils or rods. The Puffco Dart also adds a lot to efficiency. This Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus comparison shows us that you need to look at all the details in order to really understand how each vape pen works.

Versatility / Atomizer Options: Kind of Weak On Both

The Puffco Pro 2 only supports one style of heating element. The single white ceramic rod with four wraps of thin gauge unknown alloy wire, fit to the Pro 2’s mouthpiece. The PuffCo Plus also has a single type of atomizer, a ceramic plate coil-less atomizer.

Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus
Single Coil Atomizer Included With Puffco Pro 2

PuffCo Pro “1” owners were already upset at the need to purchase a completely new vaporizer with a very similar form to experience the new heating chamber. PuffCo explained that the Plus’ battery is more powerful than the Pro, so it was required. As vapers love to have flexibility in their products, PuffCo’s decision to require complete units to try different heating elements seems out of touch. When most vape pens have at least a coiled and coil-less option available for a vape pen, the Pro 2 feels very 2015.

If you want something easy, you’re better off with the Plus.

Portability of Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus: Pro 2 Smaller, but Dart On Plus Helps Portability

The PuffCo Pro 2 is one of the smallest wax pens, and is very portable on its own. If you’ll need to charge it however, you’ll have to bring along its special USB charger. Unfortunately, the Pro 2 carrying case can’t accommodate the assembled vape pen. It requires unthreading the atomizer off the battery each time you put the pen in the case. You may also need the case to carry your dab tool, etc. Luckily, the Pro 2’s stainless body holds up well in your pocket (even against keys), so if it’s fully charged and filled, you’re good to go.

The Puffco Plus is not as small as the Puffco Pro 2, but redefines the meaning of portability with its new Puffco Dart. The Puffco Pro 2 may be smaller, but you need either extremely stable wax (easy to move) or must carry a dab tool. With the Puffco Plus, you just take the Plus itself and your wax! The Dart acts as the dab tool and is built right into the mouthpiece.

The newly designed cap for atomizers not in use are great for pre-loading an extra atomizer for later, instead of bringing a small container. Neither Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus battery is brilliant, but the Plus is a slight improvement.

Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus
Puffco Plus: size relation to hand

Discretion: Pretty Close

The small size of the PuffCo Pro 2 allows you to throw it in a pocket and bust it out anywhere you see fit. It is pretty shiny, so it would be nice to see it available in a darker color, for those really going for discretion. Other than that, there isn’t much that could be improved upon here.

The Puffco Plus is about as discreet as they come, with sleek gunmetal exterior and small size. Take a hit on low power and few will notice. The light on the bottom of the battery is faint (unlike the Kandypens Elite) and can be easily covered with a finger. The Dart adds to discretion by eliminating any need to fiddle with extra tools.

Taste of Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus: Coilless For Sure Playa

With PuffCo Pro 2’s emphasis on ease and cloud production, there’s no surprise that flavor isn’t a big factor. The first hit on a load with a freshly cleaned chamber tastes great, but the flavor degrades quickly after (even with small loads). When kept on Green (low) the taste stays decent for some time, and the first hit or two are nice and fresh. After those first hits I never get the same level of flavor until I do a full deep clean. Even after trying PuffCo’s high temp burn off suggestion and going back to a fresh load on Green, the taste could not be restored. If you are looking for a vaporizer to deliver fantastic flavor from terpene rich oils, keep looking.

On the other end of the spectrum is the Puffco Plus, which tastes incredible. The low setting on the Plus provides perfect low temp hits which allow all those nice terpenes to shine. Even the White (high) Setting still leaves you with a great taste in your mouth. Those looking to savor their wax are in for a treat. You won’t get the burning wax taste on this vape pen. The downside for some is no super hard rips.

Value: Shell Out a bit More For The Plus

Previously priced at $89.99, the PuffCo Pro 2 is now down to $75.95 on the website (saving you $14). The Pro 2 packaging and look certainly give an impression of quality, as does its solid build quality and precision of parts. It comes with a  charger, case, and dab tool. However, the four-wrap Kanthal wire around a single ceramic rod heating element and chamber seems quite dated in comparison to many pens today. Others have managed to employ dual coil heating elements, porous black ceramic wicks, quartz walls & rods. Not to mention wireless, donut style, and the next gen of sealed chambers like the PuffCo Plus.

The flavor and performance of the Pro 2 reflect the technology of the heat source. Though the price has dropped, the high cost for a vape pen with restricted airflow, one atomizer and low flavor potential doesn’t seem like the first choice.

The Puffco Plus was originally $99.99 when released, but then they raised their price another $20 to $119.99. However, It was just recently lowered back to $99.99.

The kit includes the Puffco Plus, a charger, a pack of 4 cotton swabs, and a Puffco Grip sleeve. The Puffco Grip is a great little silicone sleeve that was added later. It makes it easier to hold your Puffco Plus, and also stops it from rolling around. You don’t get a case, but the built in Dart means you rarely need one. It also includes an extra chamber atomizer with a cap. Count the extra chamber for its retail $25 and you’re paying around $75 for the Puffco Plus.

It also comes with a 1 Year Warranty that covers the sub-ohm battery and charger. The Plus is an incredible, self-contained vape pen.

Replacement Costs: You Get What You Pay For

Replacement costs aren’t great for either Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus. The Puffco Pro 2 replacements for its white ceramic single coil are $19.99. This is a high price for a low-tech heater of white ceramic single coil with four wraps of an aluminum-alloyed metal. So, take good care of your coil as these will get expensive to replace over time.

Puffco Plus replacements come in at $24.95 apiece. You can get 5 of them for $100. It’s on par with other atomizers, but also includes a cap when you purchase separately. Just don’t lose your battery, or you’re paying $50 for a Puffco battery replacement.

Final Thoughts on Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus

The Puffco Pro 2 might be just what you’re looking for if strength is your priority. The Pro 2 is the smallest choice between Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus. It’s solid and has a nice polished exterior. However, if taste matters more, this is probably not the vape pen for you! The single coil atomizer gets extremely hot and though gives strong hits, can burn wax.

We think the Puffco Plus is one of the best vape pens out right now. The Plus includes an extra chamber and is ridiculously easy to use with the built in Puffco Dart and Sesh Mode (which is now on both, but works better with the Plus’ coil-less atomizer). The Plus gives you flavorful hits every time. We also love the darker and more discreet look of its gunmetal exterior. It’s got a slightly better battery than the Pro 2, but still be wary of the battery life when you go out.

The Pro 2 comes with a case and dab tool. However, the Plus includes the Puffco Dart and an extra ceramic atomizer, which are more valuable in our opinion. For those looking for ease of use and constant smooth, tasty hits, the Plus is our Puffco Pro 2 vs Plus comparison choice for sure! The Puffco Plus wins!

The current lowest Puffco Pro 2 price from an authorized reseller we could find is $75.99 at GotVape. Puffco Plus seems to be $99 at all authorized retailers.

Lucky Vapes Cartridge Review: Very Clean and Strong

lucky vapes cartridge review

Lucky Vape Cartridge Review: Some of the best on the market

Getting a Lucky Vapes cartridge is tough. I was lucky to get one through a friend of mine. The taste of the vapor is incredible! I tried the bubblegum flavor cart and it tasted and smelled exactly like bubble gum! I could smoke this in almost any public area and no suspected I was vaping cannabis oil out of Lucky Vape cartridges.

Design Quality: Two ceramic discs inside each Lucky Vapes cartridge which allows for huge vape clouds.

I like the design, it focuses on the most important aspect and that’s taking hits. Big smooth vape clouds can be achieved with this prefilled vape cartridge. Its gold color makes it look great and feels high quality. Lucky Vape cartridges are very smooth which makes vaping a pleasurable experience. I really enjoyed taking huge rips with this cart.

Ease of Use: Simple to attach to any low voltage 510 threaded battery

This cart screws onto a 510 threaded battery with low watts. I recommend for optimal results vape at 3-4 volts.

Lucky Vapes Cartridges Strength: Very potent and up there with some of the highest I’ve tried

You can get to where you want to be fast with only a few hits from this wax cartridge. Very potent stuff here that I can compare the Lucky Vapes cartridge strength to to the vape by Brass Knuckles vape or the Amber Industries cartridges. In as little as two to three puffs you will find yourself very baked.

Portability: Small standard size of your typical 510 cartridge

This cartridge fits your standard 510 threaded battery. Its great for taking to festivals and other events and discreetly vape. Be careful not to lose these because of how small they are its very easy it can slip out of your pocket without you noticing, especially if you’re really baked. I already managed to lose 3 of these pens this year with these size carts.

Taste: Some of the best tasting cannabis extract oil

The brand name of this cartridge lucky vapes is appropriate because I felt lucky reviewing this cart. The taste was outstanding. The vape from this cart tastes very clean. You can taste pure bubble gum and the vape also smells like bubble gum. Anyone would be thinking this was a flavor vape pen.

Value: A great price for a great wax cartridge

I paid $30.00 for a half gram and it was worth every cent if not more. I have 0 complains about this cart. Lucky vapes has created a near perfect product for vaping at an affordable price. This company has created this cart with love and it shows in the carts performance.

Efficiency: Lucky Vapes cartridges are built great

This cartridge hits really good. You can accomplish some major clouds and each one extremely potent with THC. You can vape everything in the cart without wasting any cannabis extracted oil.

Overall: I will buy again if I am lucky enough to find Lucky Vapes Cartridges

You really do have to get lucky because I couldn’t find Lucky Vapes cartridges anywhere in the bay area on Weedmaps. I had to get one of these from a friend which is why I got lucky on being able to review this cart. I really am not 100% sure if this cart is associated with luckyproducts.com but it was the closest website I could find that matched with this cartridges brand name. The website has other cartridges it shows but none that match this cartridge design. I wonder if its another brand infringing on Lucky Vapes brand name or perhaps lucky vapes need to update their website.

Rokin Nitro Review : A Solid “Average” Vape Pen but Has Great Taste

The Rokin Nitro in 'Gun Metal'
The Rokin Nitro in ‘Gun Metal’

The Rokin Nitro is pretty much your standard double coil vape pen. However, what it has an edge on is taste. It tastes much better than many vapes that are out there today.

Edit 09/17/2017: Rokin has reached out to us and stated that what I believed to be solder was actually just a slight variation on the coil. We will get a further breakdown of the coil and update you on this.

Edit 09/23/2017: Rokin sent us additional atomizers to break down for testing and we believed they had solder on them, but it turns out they do now.

Edit 09/25/2017: Rokin confirmed with supplier that it is the actual wire melted in the process, which is much better than solder. We have asked a few more details regarding the wire content and will update accordingly.

The Rokin Nitro Vape Pen Review

Design & Quality

The Rokin Nitro Vaporizer Kit comes in three colors
The Rokin Nitro Vaporizer Kit comes in three colors

Rokin tries to throw in a lot of jargon about FCC standards (why? Is there a radio there somewhere?) focus groups etc. Bottom line is, the Rokin Nitro is a solid reliable average vape pen. Take the look of a Puffco Pro 1 or the KandyPens Elite, add some decent titanium alloy coils, and you have the Rokin Nitro.

At least the Vapir Pen had a new unique look, but basically the Rokin is a better no-frills version of the Kandypens Elite. And that’s good! If they ‘d add a carb then this would be perfect.

Contents Of The Rokin Nitro Vaporizer Kit
Contents Of The Rokin Nitro Vaporizer Kit

The Rokin Nitro comes with 2 quartz double coil atomizers, a nice long dab tool, a good quality concentrate container with a divider, and charger. The coil they use is a decent looking thin coil that looks and tastes similar to the Vapir Pen. You don’t get any of that “vape pen” metal taste that some of the cheaper vape pens have.

The Rokin Nitro Quartz Double Coil Atomizer
The Rokin Nitro Quartz Double Coil Atomizer

The chamber is also deep enough you won’t easily flood and overflow.

The battery has 3 temperature settings: Green for Low, Blue for Medium, and Red for High. It follows the standard 3 clicks to change and 5 to turn off and on. The Rokin Nitro does continue the annoying trend of a light at the bottom of the battery, but you learn to deal with it.

Ease Of Use: Rokin Nitro is Pretty Standard

Just like every other simple vape pen, turn one, pop in your stuff, power, inhale, and exhale.

The screwing on and off can be a bit tedious on the attachment, but overall pretty easy.

Strength: Not Toasting Wax, But Good

The Rokin Nitro is pretty strong, but because it uses a better tasting coil it doesn’t burn your wax as hot as vape pens. We got huge hits on the ThisThisRips OG Four 2.0 Rig Edition, but it was just toasting the wax.

Efficiency

The Rokin Nitro is as efficient with coils as a vape pen can be. It’s deep enough that if you have very unstable materials, it will get stuck on the walls. The coils are very tight together and hard to miss, but you’ll still get some wax on the sides.

Rokin Nitro Double Quartz Coil Atomizer
The Rokin Nitro Double Quartz Coil Atomizer looks good from far away.

Versatility/Atomizer Options

It is eGo 510 though so you can pop in an atomizer from a competing company if you want. This gives it great versatility.

Rokin Nitro Atomizers

The Rokin Nitro works with its included double coil quartz atomizer, the only atomizer they offer.

The Nitro atomizer is wrapped neatly and fairly evenly. A closer look reveals what we initially thought to be solder, which is very common on cheap vape pens. However, Rokin has stated this is a melting point where the titanium alloy wire is connected to another wire.

Rokin Atomizer
Close up of the Rokin atomizer shows a bump.

The bump you see in the metal we thought was a solder point.  We have updated the review to reflect that it is not solder, but a heated point in the material. This does however bring into question how much titanium is in the wire. We have asked them for more specific details on this. Rokin has stated the points we believed to be solder are in fact points and which part of the coil is melted into another wire. In their words,

“Our manufacturer uses a process that electrically melts the titanium coiled wire to straight wire portion of the wire. No solder at all is used on any of our atomizers. Also, this is an improved technique from even crimping, allowing a more robust connection.”

This does appear that in fact two types of wire are used. Rokin said no testing of the actual wire types was available. However, vapes that use higher grade titanium usually are powered directly from the same wire, not another wire in there. Whether this is an advancement or not on the Rokin, we are unsure, but they said this is more effective than crimping.

Rokin Atomizer Solder
Further breakdown of the atomizers showed points where the wire is joined.

Portability

The Rokin Nitro is 12cm wide and a little over 9 inches tall. Same size as every other pen, so you can pop it in your pocket and you’re cool.

The Rokin Nitro isn't discreet due to red lights
The red lights on the Rokin Nitro make it difficult to be discreet.

Discretion

Portability and quick warm up with coils makes it easy to sneak in a toke. That horrible red light at the bottom makes it annoying to be discreet in the dark, so cover it up.

Taste is Good On the Nitro

For a titanium alloy coil vape pen, the Nitro has great taste. Even at it’s highest, the Nitro really shines. While some other more expensive vape pens burn the material and give a nasty taste, the Rokin Nitro keeps flavor all the way through.

Value

At $69.95 the Nitro is better than some of the competitors’ vape pens that cost more than twice as much., like the KandyPens Elite. The Nitro is easy to use and straight to the point. It comes with 2 double coil atomizers, so you’re probably set for a couple months. The gold version is $79.95 if you want that shiny look. However, the other colors are $69.96 which is a better value.

The fact is though many vape pens out there are just overpriced. This pen features a standard eGo threaded eCig battery and a coil that is most likely not straight titanium, but an alloy. Take the fancy finish off the battery, and it’s specs are similar to most eCig batteries.

Since there is most likely not a higher quality titanium wire, you can pretty much guarantee this is not any type of specialty battery, as some may know the higher grade titanium wires require a mod battery, just like their eCig counterparts.

The Price of a Rokin Nitro Vaporizer Kit is $79.95
The Price of a Rokin Nitro Vaporizer Kit is $79.95

Replacements

Replacements sell at a decent price point, only $14.95 for the double coils. It includes the top mouthpiece too, not just the atomizer.

You get a better deal if you sign up for their subscription service. It offers 3 atomizer for $30, or each atomizer for just a straight $10. You can select either 3 or 6 months, so you can either use one a month or every 2 months.

Concluding The Rokin Nitro Review

The Nitro looks like a lot of other vape pens, but it does hit and taste a lot better than many of them. It has a soso price, great taste, and fair replacement costs. Would I buy it? Maybe, but there are pens that have higher grade materials and bigger batteries for around the same price or not that much more. For someone that wants a basic pen here.

Kandypens Prism & Kandypens Prism+ Preview : Initial Preview Claims No Glue

Kandypens Prism & Prism+ Preview
Preview Of Kandypens Prism & Prism+ Vape Pens

Howdy ladies & gents! Welcome to the wide world of vape pens, where not all products are equal. Sometimes vape pens aren’t even what a company claims them to be. Proof of this statement is right here on DabConnectionv and it involves Kandypens. Claims of “No Glue” on their Elite vaporizers helped sell many a pen, until the discovery of glue in their pens. Our Kandypens Elite review shows direct evidence of these findings. Now we come to their newest vaporizer release, the Kandypens Prism & Kandypens Prism+. Join in on a first look at these new pens which claim “No Glue”. We’d like to disassemble and check for ourselves and will get more in depth on a future review. Kandypens Prism pens do have a 500 unit special edition limit, so hopefully we can get our hands on one. Maybe Kandypens will redeem itself with a quality vaporizer this time around.

Update 10/15/2017: KandyPens Prism See our updated in depth reviews of the and Prism+.

Kandypens Prism & Kandypens Prism+ Vape Pens: Product Preview

Design & Quality Of Prism Series Vaporizers

Kandypens Black Prism Vape Pen
Kandypens Black Prism Vape Pen

At the time of writing this post, Kandypens Prism and Prism+ series is on pre-order status. Their newest vaporizers will be available in two sizes. That’s the difference between + and no +. Just like iPhone 7 Plus, the Plus means bigger. You’ll also have black or white colors to choose from. They come with a coil-less ceramic plate atomizer and a dual coil quartz atomizer.

Kandypens vs. Kandypens Prism+

Size

Small in stature, the Kandypens Prism vape pen stands at only 10.5 centimeters. The Kandypens Prism+ maintains the same 10.5 centimeter height, but has a slightly wider diameter due its larger battery. Kandypens Prism and Prism+ vaporizers appear high quality from their own account. All other design looks completely identical.

Kandypens Prism+
Slightly wider body but way more power on the Kandypens Prism+
Technical Specs

The most noticeable technical difference is the battery size. The Kandypens Prism comes in at a paltry 320mah, while the Kandypens Prism+ comes in at a healthy 900mah. 320mah seems hard to satisfy a serious vaper. 900mah is quite a bit and should last a long time. Besides size, the coil type is the same. They also use the same micro-USB charging. For personal use, based on battery alone I would go with the Kandypens Prism+ over the Kandypens Prism. It comes in at $20 more, but almost 3x the power.

Ease Of Use – Operating A Kandypens Prism Vape Pen

Because these pens have yet to hit the market, there’s very little info here. Prism and Prism+ pens use the standard push button activation. They do offer temp settings which allow you to find the right heat to vaporize your product. Atomizers do show separately, but it’s tough to tell how easy they come out for loading or replacement. More about ease of use once we have a Kanypens Prism vape in hand. We estimate it’s use to be on par with a Lynx Hypnos. There seems to be a lot of similarities between that vape pen, the Kandypens Prism, and the Kandypens Prism+.

Strength – Do Kandypens Prism and Prism+ Vapes Give Thick Hits?

There’s no sure way to tell for sure without having one, but they include double coil atomizers and that generally produces a good rip. The coilless ceramic plate atomizer is definitely a wait-till-you hit it atomizer. Some of these hit well, some of these hit poorly. Kandypens has a reputation for using cheaper quality regular eCig batteries. If the batteries used in the Prism and Prism+ are not sub-ohm, don’t expect big rips.

Update August 6, 2017: The Prism and Prsim+ do appear to be sub-ohm based on the fact that Kandypens wrote this into the permalink for both items. They should add this to the product listing as well. This is a good thing to have on this unit.

Efficiency – No One Likes Wasting Oil

Kandypens Prism Logo
Prism Logo Design

Because the Kandypens Prism and Kandypens Prism+ are use conduction atomizers, oil must touch the coils to atomize. Problems with product melting, running down the sides, and collecting at the bottom of the atomizer is often an issue on cheaper pens. If coil location isn’t close together and at the bottom of the atomizer, waste happens more often. Kandypens is pretty good about location of their coils in their other pens, but those pens did not leak because they had glue.

On the coilless ceramic plate atomizers, efficiency depends on the plate placement. It is not as waste-proof as a non-plate coilless atomizer. However, if there is not a large gap between the plate and the cup, this atomizer should be pretty efficient. Again, it looks just like the Lynx Hypnos on the atomizer. This is not new tech.

Versatility & Options In Atomizers

Kandypens offers a wide range of atomizer replacements, though none yet specific to the new Prism or Prism+ pens. It sounds like a case of new product not yet on the website which does make sense. No need for more atomizers if no one has the vape pen yet. It’s still almost 2 weeks before the release date. It would be nice if Kandypens put that info up to encourage people to pre-order. I did contact Kandypens live chat with screenshots of our conversation. You can read exactly what they said about it.Live Chat With Kandypens Support

Live Chat Questions With Kandypens

Portability & Discretion – Kandypens Prism Vapes Are Low Profile

Both portability and discretion are areas where the Kandypens Prism and Prism+ vaporizers shine. Tubular in shape and only 10.5 cm in height, Prisms carry easily on your body and stash away in an instant. They get an A all around in this category. The Prism is slightly more portable than the Prism+, but the extra power is worth holding on the +.

Taste – Will Kandypens Prism Pens Give A Burnt Taste?

Again without the pen…you know the story. Facts about taste aren’t exclusive to actually having the pen, though it is always better info. Any atomizer with a coil will give off a burnt taste if the temp is too high or if you hit a dry atomizer. The coil quality of previous Kandypens atomizers is unkown. The coilless atomizer probably tastes similar to a Lynx Hypnos, which is pretty good.

Value – Kandypens Prism Price vs Value

In a vape pen or any product really, value is a measure of price vs performance. Performance is a wide term that can include many aspects. Durability is definitely one of them. We know the price of Prism pens. The standard model runs $97.99 and the Prism+ jumps to $127.99. We’ll all have to wait for tests so we can add the missing part of the value equation.

Usually Kandypens items are priced at the higher end of the market, but are not at the higher end of quality. They do have a good warranty policy, but the quality of previous pens is in questions. If they are again using a standard eCig battery in the Prism and Prism+, that would definitely take a hit on value. You just won’t be getting big rips. We hope they changed this with the Prism and Prism+.

Replacement Parts For Kandypens Prism Vaporizers

As of now, there are no replacement parts for Kandypens Prism line of vape pens. We did see that they plan on adding atomizers later, so perhaps Kandypens will also upload replacement parts onto their website once they release the Prism.

Kandypens Prism Series Conclusion

Yuck Face Due To Glue In A Vape Pen
No One Wants Glue In A Vape Pen

Initial previews of the Kandypens Prism vape pens make them appear to have value. The truth is that at this time there’s too much missing info and testing that’s necessary to provide an honest overview. We will attempt to get a hold of both products, but with only 500 in production it may not be so easy to do. It’s definitely important to learn more about this product.

Saying there’s no glue in a vape pen only to find glue in the exact same vape pen is absolutely unacceptable. We hope the Prism and Prism+ are a new and better Kandypens. However, we do notice they still sell all the same items that had glue as before. We’ll keep the investigation open until we learn more. My initial feelings about the Kandypens Prism line is skeptical at best. They blocked us on Instagram after we told them about the glue.

You can now get the regular Prism for $97.99 and the Prism+ for $127.99 at GotVape.

Vapir Pen Review : Clean Taste, Quality Build, But Dated Atomizers

Vapir Pen
The Vapir Pen is pretty sleek.

Vapir Pen Delivers On Taste But Seems Old School On Tech

Vapir has released herbal vaporizers for over 10 years, and the Vapir Pen is their first foray into the wax pen market. Will this more affordable vape pen dominate like their other products? Let’s see how this $70 pen rates.

Design & Quality

The Vapir Pen at 14mm in diameter and a little over 5 inches tall, stands at the smaller end of the vape pen size spectrum. It has a nice black chrome color that is almost identical to the Puffco Plus. We would not fault you if you confused it as bizarre world version of the Puffco Plus due to the color similarities. That’s where the similiarities stop on these vapes.

The Vapir Pen has short with a slim mouthpiece, with a ventilated square opening that your lips rest on comfortably. It uses a 650mah eGo threaded battery with 3 Temp Settings: Low (Green), Medium (Blue), and High (Red). It has a great looking teardrop shape logo for the battery’s power button. Charging is convenient with Micro USB.

It comes included with 2 atomizers: a quartz double coil atomizer and a coil-less ceramic donut atomizer. The Vapir Pen uses a very nice looking alloy free of solder and weld marks. When you vape it’s absent of that infamous “vape pen smell” we got off the ThisThingRips vaporizer. The wire used in the coil seems to be higher quality. The ceramic donut does work well. However, the unit gets really hot fast when using it especially on High heat setting. Both atomizers use the same deep ceramic cup. Instead of air holes near the coils halfway like most other atomizers the airflow goes through 2 small spaces built at the top of the cup.

Vapir Pen in Silver
This vape pen is pretty sleek. Comparable to the Puffco Plus.

Ease of Use

The Vapir Pen is just as easy to use as most other vape pens with 3 temp settings, except instead of clicking it 3 times to change temperature, you click it 4 times. Not sure why they made it different but it is easier to just keep with the industry standard of 3 clicks.

If you’re using more stable material, removing the mouthpiece is the easiest way to reload and drop your material. If it’s more gooey, you’ll need to unscrew the atomizer or you’ll get wax on the walls of your mouthpiece.

Strength

The Vapir Pen gives good strong clouds on its highest Red setting on both atomizers, but never gives you that feeling of lungs clenching for dear life. The strongest hit you will get from this vape is using the double coil quartz atomizer on High.

Efficiency

The Vapir Pen’s atomizers are night and day on efficiency. The ceramic donut is very efficient with only a small amount of wax melting under the ceramic donut. This is more noticeable if you donut is not completely flat on the floor.

The double coil quartz atomizer on the other hand wastes a lot of wax in three ways. You lose wax to either to the side of the coils, the walls, or worse under the coils where you will not be able to retrieve it. Though it is annoying, it is not worse than other double coil atomizers out there. Also, the higher opening means wax doesn’t’ over flow out of the chamber which is a plus to the design

Versatility / Atomizer Options

The Vapir Pen’s two atomizers are the only options available. While they are both good, they’re both pretty much standard minimum on most vape pens in 2017. They seem like the styles that were new in 2015.

Portability

The Vapir Pen’s very small 5-inch height makes it perfect to take with you anywhere. It’s so light, you won’t notice it in your pocket. The Micro USB charging port also means it’s incredibly easy to charge if you’re at your friend’s house. Any non-iPhone smart phone charger or cable will probably do the job.

Discretion

The dark gunmetal black and small size of the Vapir Pen make it easy to sneak in a small hit discreetly. No light under the battery, no bell and whistles to catch anyone’s attention. This pen is very discreet and will appear to most as a standard eCig.

Taste

The coil-less ceramic donut gives great flavor as expected from a ceramic donut atomizer. The surprising part was that the Vapir Pen uses good titanium wire that doesn’t make your wax taste like burnt diesel. The double coil quartz is not as good as the ceramic donut, but it doesn’t leave you with a “vape pen taste.”

If you’re just looking for flavorful hits, the ceramic donut is still your best bet on this vape.

Value

The Vapir Pen looks great and hits great, but at $69.95 in 2017, this is not a great deal. It includes a standard 650mah 3 setting eGo battery, the 2 atomizer, and small dab tool. If you can find this for like $50, it’s a good deal.

The cheapest we could find it was at Vape Pen US here. Currently it is $64.95 then use their coupon code VAPELIFE for 20% off. That comes out to $55.21 shipped. If you know of a cheaper place please post in the comments below. We do not recommend eBay as most manufacturer’s do not honor the warranty.

Vapir Pen Cheapest
We found Vapir Pen cheapest at Vape Pen US. Here’s our cart totalling $55.21.

The Vapir Pen has a 1 year battery warranty similar to most big brands on the market. They do not state an atomizer warranty, but we would hope they would at least replace any DOA atomizers.

Replacements

Vapir Pen replacements are $19.95 a piece, for both the double coil and ceramic donut. That’s on par with the more expensive replacements from other brands. Considering it is a very standard 2015 style atomizer this is not a great deal.

There aren’t too many coupons going around for Vapir, so you’re likely stuck paying full price. We could not find them on Vape Pen US that had the coupon for the full unit.

Conclusion: Vapir Pen Solid For a First Pen by Vapir

Vapir built a solid first entry into the vape pen market with Vapir Pen with a discreet portable design and a coil and coil-less atomizer. The Vapir Pen is a good option that feels a year or so too late when it comes to atomizer design. Ceramic donut atomizers and double coil quartz have been out since 2015. The quality of these atomizers is good though. The wiring on the coiled atomizer has no crimps which is a big plus. With the coupon it is an OK deal compared to other vape pens.

Puffco Plus Review : Sleek, Flavorful, and Easy to Use

Puffco Plus
Puffco Plus has a nice, compact size.

Puffco’s motto is “The New Standard.” While their original Puffco Pro and Puffco Pro 2 were basically the same as other vape pens already out, their Puffco Plus is original from top to bottom. Is this $99 vape pen “the New Standard” in vaping? Or are features like Puffco Dart and Sesh Mode nothing more than hyped up marketing as we found out with our ThisThingRips review?

UPDATE 4/18/2019: Puffco is now facing a lawsuit over the Peak dab rig.

Puffco Plus Wax Pen
Puffco Plus is a pretty efficient wax pen setup.

Design & Build Quality were good on the Puffco Plus

The Puffco Plus has a beautiful gunmetal curvy design that looks like a vape pen designed by Apple. The Puffco Pro 2 is a bit smaller. The mouthpiece design blends perfectly to the battery with only 4 small slits for airflow.

The mouthpiece has a short thread that takes a half twist to remove quickly. Inside the mouthpiece you see their new ceramic Puffco Dart tucked away to use easily. This Dart comes in handy later. The Puffco Plus atomizer is a sub-ohm ceramic cup with 4 air holes in the middle. The heating element is a ceramic plate. Unlike many cheaper quality ceramic plate vaporizers, the ceramic cup fits very snug. It looks like its lined up almost perfect. If good wraps are what we want in coils, good line ups on the ceramic plate are important for this type of atomizer. Otherwise you get major leakage. It’s not their original sealed cup design like they first teased and some vapers may have been expecting, but it’s pretty close.

The Puffco Plus battery’s design is well thought out. It features a very subtle cloud light on the bottom of the battery. The power button is made of silicone rubber. It’s a nice contrast to the typical hard plastic button found on most vape pens. The battery has 3 standard heat settings. It features an additional option called Sesh Mode.” It activates the battery for 12 seconds. You get it heating up to a nice temp without having to touch the button. You can select one of the three heat settings for Sesh Mode.

Puffco Plus Sesh Mode
Once its on hold and go for Sesh Mode.

Like Apple though, the Puffco Plus puts form over function, sometimes to a fault. To keep the short form factor  they sacrificed power capacity. The result is a 530mah battery operating sub-ohm. This leads to the small capacity battery getting drained quickly. if you like to use Sesh Mode on High, you’ll be charging within 30 minutes. They also decided to use a weird eGo-style 510 connection that prevents you from using other batteries. Unlike the Puffco Pro 2 that uses a standard 510 connection, the Puffco Plus looks like an eGo connection. Really it’s just an extended 510 connection that no other battery uses. For the vapers who want to stick to their own high powered mod, the Puffco Plus is a no go.

The sub-ohm atomizer produces a lot of heat like most coil-less atomizers. Let it cool down when you use it a few times. The outside of the chamber will get really hot after 2 back to back Sesh Modes on High.

The airflow also feels restricted at times. Although it builds clouds easily, with more use it’s evident how much better this would be with a wider carb hole.

Puffco Plus is very easy to use

The Puffco Plus is so ridiculously easy to use we had to edit the Ease of Use rating for every previously reviewed vape pen. Everything from loading to using is easier. So far this vape pen wins the overall award for easiness. To load your Puffco Plus twist the mouthpiece off quickly with its half turn thread  then with the Puffco Dart inside the mouthpiece grab your material with the ceramic tip. Then replace the mouthpiece and lock with a half-twist. That’s it!

The Puffco Dart is the perfect length to place your wax right on the heating element when you screw it on.

If you’re a heavy user, then this is where it gets even easier. “Sesh Mode” really shines with the Puffco Plus. On the Puffco Pro 2, Sesh Mode was useless after 6+ seconds because it just kept burning your wax by getting the coil too hot. Puffco Plus’s coil-less atomizer on the other hand needs a few seconds to warm to begin with. The 12 seconds of Sesh Mode works well.

Puffco sesh mode
Sesh mode is fun. But you won’t be passing it around that much with 530mah.

You just load up with the Dart, press the button twice, lean back, and puff away your hit.

Does Sesh Mode work in groups? Yes…. But, you have to be quick on the transfer, because you will lose some vapor from the mouthpiece during transfer.

The battery will kill your fun, though.

Strength

The Puffco Plus gives some strong hits, but flavor is what this was built for, not strength. A Sesh Mode on White will still not leave you coughing up a lung.

Efficiency

The Puffco Plus is one of the most efficient vape pens we’ve reviewed. Unlike other ceramic plate atomizers, the Puffco Plus’s atomizer was with almost surgical precision to be as snug as possible. This means that almost no wax is lost on the edges of the ceramic plate and down the inside of the atomizer to the battery.

You will still get wax on the walls. This can be easily recovered especially since no coil/rods are present. The Puffco Dart also adds to the efficiency. Less likely to lose any wax going from dab tool to vape pen when the dab tool is part of the vape pen.

Versatility / Atomizer Options

The Puffco Plus works with the Puffco Pro 2 atomizer. Screw in the Puffco Pro 2 Fulltop attachment to the inside 510 thread of the battery. This way you can enjoy your ceramic coilless Puffco Plus and a coiled Puffco Pro 2.

It will look a bit weird because of the eGo-looking battery connection. Also the Puffco Pro 2 atomizer is less than fulfilling. Its a coiled atomizer that has pretty bad airflow. You are bettter off skipping the Pro 2 and getting the Plus if you want something easy.

Portability

The Puffco Plus is not as small as the Puffco Pro 2, but redefines the meaning of portability with its new Puffco Dart. The Puffco Pro 2 might be smaller, but you either had very stable wax or you had to carry a dab tool. With the Puffco Plus you just take the Plus with you and your wax and that’s it! The Dart acts as the dab tool and it is built right into the vape pen.

The new designed caps for atomizers not in use is great for pre-loading an extra atomizer for later, instead of bringing a small container.

The battery life kills a few points on portability. If you’re a light user you might not notice, but a heavy user might not make it through half a concert. Especially if you are trying to get down in Sesh Mode. The annoying threading also means you can’t use another battery except for buying another $50 battery from Puffco. Quite expensive considering it is 530mah.

Puffco Grip
The grip helps you not slip on the go.

Discretion

The Puffco Plus is as discreet as they come. It’s sleek gunmetal color and small profile let’s you sip on a hit on Low Power with few noticing. The light on the bottom of the battery is faint (unlike the Kandypens Elite) and you can easily cover with your pinky finger at night. It gives the optimal discretion of a standard eCig.

Taste

Taste on the Puffco Plus is incredible. The lowest setting provides the low temp hits desired for all the terpenes to shine. Even the White / High Setting still leaves you with a great taste in your mouth.

Those looking to savor their wax are in for a treat. You are not going to get a burny wax taste on this vape. The downside for some would be no super hard rips.

Value

The Puffco Plus was originally $99.99 when it was released, but then raised their price another $20 to $119.99. It recently has just been lowered back to $99.99 on sale for summer. We could not find any good coupons online for Puffco’s site.

The kit includes the Puffco Plus, an extra chamber atomizer with a cap, a charger, a pack of 4 cotton swabs, and a Puffco Grip sleeve.

The Puffco Grip is a great little silicone sleeve they added later that makes it easier to hold your Puffco Plus, and also stops it from rolling around.

Count the extra chamber for its retail $25 and you’re paying around $75 just for the Puffco Plus. It comes with a 1 Year Warranty that covers the sub ohm battery and charger.

It’s an incredible self-contained vape pen you can’t find elsewhere, but you’ll pay a hefty price compared to what else is out there.

Replacements are a bit expensive on the Plus vape

Puffco Plus replacements come in at $24.95 a piece. You can also get 5 of them for $100. Coupons are rarely available.

It’s on par with other atomizers, but also includes a cap when you purchase separately. It’s like an extra container.

Just don’t lose your battery, or you’re paying $50 for a battery replacement.

Conclusion: Puffco Plus is Smooth

The Puffco Plus is one of the best vape pens out for those that are looking for ease of use and smooth hits. Ridiculously easy to use with the Puffco Dart and Sesh Mode, giving you rich flavorful hits every time. Be wary of the battery life when you go out. Bring a charger and you will be good.

The best priced Puffco Plus we could find is here on eBay.

Dipstick Dipper Review: Great Vape Pen; OK Nectar Collector

The Dipstick Dipper is Dipstick Vapes newest 2.0 model taking over for the original Dipstick they released in 2016. It’s an improvement in every way according to them over the trendsetting design. It adds the ability to be used as a vape pen. Will Dipstick 2.0 take the vape pen market by storm?

Design & Quality

The Dipper’s quality compared to the original Dipstick 1.0 is miles ahead of its groundbreaking model from last year. The obvious upgrade from last year is the addition of using it as a vape pen. The best way to describe the look of Dipstick Vapes Dipper is like a huge micro vape pen. Similar to a Micro G or a CloudV.

dipstick dipper vape pen
The Dipstick Dipper comes in charcoal and silver.

The Dipstick Dipper has two modes: Vape Pen-style and Nectar Collector-style. Use the included quartz double coil atomizer to use it as a vape pen or unscrew the double coil atomizer and replace it with the vapor tip, place the mouthpiece on the bottom, and use as a Nectar Collector. There is a large open-air path 5mm in diameter that travels through the left side of the battery. This either supplies vapor to the mouthpiece using it as a Nectar Collector or air flow to the atomizer as a vape pen. This is actually very useful. Now you can cover it and release when in vape pen-mode to make it act like a huge air carb.

The look is sleek and feels solid, though it has its flaws. The first is the reclaim chamber cover. It’s held on securely by the atomizer. This means that every time you remove the atomizer, the thing falls off. We know its removable so you can easily clean the air path, but they could have easily made it so it secures independently in place. In regards to cleaning, this is a breeze with the easy to reach air path. Just use a long cotton swab.

Charging is a breeze with a side loading micro USB port.

The most important part of a vape pen though, is the atomizer. It’s sad when such a well made vape completely drops the ball on this matter. The vapor tip is an inch long ceramic hollow rod that sticks straight up and at the tip has what appears to be Kanthal coil that coils around the inside of the ceramic walls. The ceramic is also fragile. One of ours had the tip crack off when dropped once on a plastic surface.

The quartz double coil atomizer has a very deep chamber for easy loading. It does hold more than most other vape pens. The atomizer’s Kanthal coil leaves a lot to be desired on taste. Titanium is almost expected in 2017.

Ease of Use

As a Nectar Collector:

The Dipstick Dipper works easily enough. You screw in the vapor tip, place the mouthpiece on the bottom, select your heat setting, power it on, then place the vapor tip on the wax and inhale. The problem is the actual vapor tip. Because the coil is on the inside, the best way to vape wax is straight down. If you go in at an angle, the wax touches the outside of the ceramic rod, and just sticks or bubbles over and drips down.

Dipstick Nectar Collector
This is what the Dipper looks like in nectar collector mode.

As a Vape Pen:

This is where it excels. Funnily enough the Dipper is a much better vape pen than nectar collector. Screw the included double coil atomizer, put the mouthpiece on the top over the atomizer, set your desired heat setting, power on, inhale. Now you got a powerful vape pen. The bottom airflow also has the added bonus that you can block and unblock as an air carb for bigger hits.

Herein lies the problem with Dipstick Dipper. Almost every time I used it as a nectar collector, it was more of a chore to review it. I continuously kept turning it back to its vape pen mode because  it’s just more of a hassle to use a Nectar Collector. Especially given how well it works a vape pen. The 3 heat settings on the Nectar Collector’s short coiled vapor tip basically gives you the option of Hot, Red Hot, and Lava. Then you have to angle it just right. Make sure you’re using a glass container (not included!) because it’s hot… but it’s just too much hassle. In vape pen mode, the 3 settings give you a nice range of Low, Medium, and High (Blue, Green, Red). On Green you can sip away nicely on a pea-sized ball of wax for a minute.

When it works so good as a vape pen, its main function, seems like a gimmick.

Strength

The Dipper vape is strong hits, but nothing lung clenching strong with in nectar collector-mode, even at its highest setting. As a vape pen, you noticeably harder and bigger hits when you use the air carb below, but even at highest setting, you’re never clenching for dear life back from the abyss.

Efficiency

The quartz double coil amazingly had no leaking from the atomizer at all. The coils are low enough that almost all wax below is also vaporized. The long slim atomizer design means you can easily fill your wax on to the coils easily.

The vapor tip though in nectar collector mode, is sadly, not as efficient. The aforementioned inside coil means that if you don’t hit straight down unto the coil, wax is going to get on sides of the ceramic and just stay there or drip down. You’re thinking, “go in at an angle and scoop up the wax into the coil,” which works, but then there is wax that gets stuck on the inside of the ceramic walls. It leaves you feeling that some of the wax is wasted.

Versatility / Atomizer Options

The Dipstick Dipper’s versatility sets it apart, basically because no other vape pen allows you to use it as a nectar collector. The problem is: “Jack of All Trades, Master of None.”

As a vape pen, it only has 1 atomizer, a quartz double coil kanthal atomizer. As a Nectar Collector, it has its vapor tip. They need to release some coil-less vape pen atomizers and titanium coiled atomizers, and release a better vapor tip that works better and doesn’t use that cheap of a coil.

Portability

The Dipper’s oval shape means it smoothly fits in your pocket without looking bulky or being an eyesore. It’s too big to hide in your hand but at only 5.5 inches; it fits snug in the palm of your hand.

Discretion

Discretion with the Dipper’s vape pen mode is great except for the clouds you release. You’ll be left explaining that it if someone ever sees it due to its unique design, but you can easily pass it off as a fancy eCig or a huge Juul.

Just don’t use the Nectar Collector in public or you’ll raise more than a few eyebrows.

Dipstick Dipper
Hitting the dipstick in public may look a bit fishy.

Taste

As with almost every category, Dipstick’s Dipper best flavor comes from the quartz double coil atomizer. In nectar collector mode, the vapor tip’s coil gives you the harshest taste, smells like metal when you heat it up, and in general just has a  horrible taste reminiscent of 2012 wax pens.

The quartz double coil atomizer gives you good flavor on Green and Blue settings, but make sure to “waste” the last past of the wax near the coil, because it tastes burnt.

Value

The Dipstick Dipper is the most expensive nectar collector-style vape pen at $149.99, but also the only one to work as vape pen, too. It comes included with 2 vapor tips, 1 quartz double coil atomizer, a loading tool, cleaning swabs, and micro USB cable. When you consider the atomizers only cost about $25 retail , you’re paying about $125 for the model. Still way too much for a product you’ll be mostly using as a vape pen.

Replacement Costs

Replacements for the Dipstick Dipper atomizers are dirt cheap compared to other vape pens, in fact a replacement mouthpiece costs more at $14.95 than any single atomizer.

Quartz double coil atomizers range from $9.99 each as low as $8.33 each in a pack of 3, while the vapor tip comes either as a pair for $14.99 or 5 for $29.99, a little under $6 each.

Dipstick Dipper vs Boundless CF 710

The Boundless CF 710 is considerably stronger hitting than the Dipstick Dipper. The Dipper has the option to be used as a vape pen, which adds to discretion. See our CF 710 review for more info.

Overall

The Dipstick Dipper is a much better vape pen than nectar collector. However, at this price and with the coil types offered, it leaves a lot to be desired for taste and value.

Boundless CF 710: Fun & Easy Nectar Collector

Boundless CF 710

Boundless CF 710: Fun & Easy Nectar Collector

Boundless Technology releases their first wax pen with the Boundless CF 710. It follows the “electric” Nectar Collector form factor. How will this $130 vape pen compare against other premium models?

Note: The review unit was purchased independently to provide an unbiased honest review.

Design & Quality was good on the CF710

The Boundless CF 710 stands at a chunky 20mm diameter. It resembles more a large highlighter marker than a pen. It feels solid. Most of its weight coming from the battery on the top. The CF 710 uses an atomizer system. You can chose between a Quartz hollow rod or a Ceramic hollow rod. The atomizer screws into the main body that contains the battery and the vapor path. The battery compartment can be screwed off, but the battery itself is not replaceable. It is sealed within the compartment mouthpiece.

The CF 710 works by heating up a NiChrome coil wrapped around a tube. You then press the hot coil directly on the wax to vaporize. The vapor travels through four air vents under the coil and tube and inside the atomizer. From the atomizer it travels up through the outside of the battery chamber,  aided by four air holes on the sides for ventilation. Then inside two holes above the battery and out the mouthpiece.

Includes:

  • 1 Boundless CF 710
    • 900mah battery (Internal)
    • 1 Power Setting
  • 1 Single Coil Ceramic Rod Dabbing Tip
    • NiChrome Coil (Confirmed by Co. / No Documentation)
  • 1 Single Coil Quartz Rod Dabbing Tip
    • NiChrome Coil (Confirmed by Co. / No Documentation)
  • Dab Tool
  • Glass Container
  • Micro USB Cable

It has only one heat setting, but also has a “Burn Off” you can activate by pressing the power button three times and it will turn on for 15 seconds straight. This is great if you’re trying to vacuum up 15 seconds worth of huge dabs. In reality it will mostly be used to clean off the coil.

The Quartz gets hotter faster than the Ceramic atomizer. Other than that, there’s not much discernible difference.

The light in the back changes color depending on the charge left on the battery when you activate it. Green for full, Blue for half-full, and Red for almost empty.

The airflow of the Boundless CF 710 is incredible. It delivers sneaky huge hits. Emphasis on the sneaky. Since the CF 710 is the digital version of a Honey Straw or Nectar Collector. You have to press the hot coil into the wax like a straw. The problem is the CF 710 blocks your view of the concentrate with its wide body. and the vapor path running through the black body. This means you don’t really know how much you inhaled until you blow it all out.

You may be wondering if wax gets all over the inside. We did too. It surprisingly doesn’t. If you unscrew the atomizer most of the wax that blows in during inhales pools there. This makes it easy to clean. The inside of the battery chamber does feel a bit sticky after a few grams of use, but cleaning is a breeze.

Ease of Use

The CF 710 deceives you into being an incredibly simple product to use. Unscrew the cap, hover your coil over a wax container. Put your lips over the mouthpiece. Press the power button and inhale. You get big rips within seconds. Simple enough, right?

The deception starts seeping the longer you use it, mostly inherent problems on this type of Nectar Collector vape. The Boundless CF 710 makes it very hard to see if your coil is touching the wax. Its also hard to see how much you are consuming or if you’re even touching the wax. Unlike glass Nectar Collectors, you can’t see the vapor running through the air path. The wax also has to be transferred to the included glass container. This is because the hot coil will touch whatever the wax is resting on. If your shatter comes on parchment paper or a plastic container, make sure you have an incredibly steady hand, or you’ll be melting plastic and adding some fumes to your dabs.

The Boundless CF 710 succeeds when it vacuums up wax indiscriminately. Which means to properly dose or save your wax you have to transfer the amount you want to dab into the glass container. Unless you want to slowly place a hot coil over all your wax and slowly start melting and heating it up. This really just kills the simplicity with long-term usage.

One thing to also point out is that you basically have a very hot exposed coil afterwards, so make sure to keep it away from yourself or anything else, because it will burn you.

The CF710 might be the strongest electronic nectar collector

The Boundless CF 710 delivers in strength, in a big way. The NiChrome coil heats up in seconds, and the air path allows you to deliver big clouds with very little work. How the big a hit is only held back by the size of your lungs. Take a look at the guy below taking a big hit.

Efficiency

The CF 710 excels in vacuuming all the wax in a surface, but not all of it vaporizes. After use the cap is put back on. Then the next time you grab your CF 710 you might see a blob of wax that dripped out from the air vents under the coil.  If you unscrew the atomizer you’ll see more wax pooled at the very bottom.

Because you’re inhaling non-stop under the coil this means plenty of now liquid wax gets swept up in the air before the coil has a chance to vaporize it. This is no different than a regular coiled vape pen.  Except it gets inhaled down rather than melted down during use.

Versatility / Atomizer Options

Boundless offers currently 2 atomizer options for the CF 710.: A NiChrome coil wrapped around either a Quartz tube or a Ceramic tube. Both offer basically the same experience since the coil is what touches the wax, rather than the tube. A quality grade titanium would have delivered better flavor here.

CF 710 Atomizer
Close up of the CF 710 atomizer fired up

Portability

The CF 710 is easy to take with you by itself.  Since you have to vacuum up the wax from a surface this means you have to have a glass container with you. Which you then have to take out to take a dab. This kills the overall portability for on the go use.

The thick size also makes it feel more like carrying a large pipe.

Discretion

The large size, the way it’s used, and the fact using it with a container makes using the CF 710 a two-hand operation. This means discretion is out the window compared to a traditional vape pen. The exposed coil vacuuming wax openly means if your boss catches you inhaling this around the corner there is no disguising what you’re doing.

boundless cf 710
Large size compared to her hand.

Taste

One heat setting with a NiChrome coil means you either have hot or hotter dab. This delivers big cloud-heavy dabs, but kills flavor. If you’re looking to enjoy the terpenes from your wax you will be disappointed. This is clearly designed for big clouds. The NiChrome coil used by Boundless is surprisingly smooth and doesn’t give you a headache or that “vape pen taste” from other cheaper wire products.

Value

Boundless priced the CF 710 at $129.99, placing it at the highest end of vaporizer pens. It includes a glass container, a nice dab tool with a black plastic handle, a charging cable, and a Quartz and Ceramic atomizer. The built-in 900mah battery is also covered under a very generous 3-Year Warranty. That’s compared to the usual 1-Year for most vape pens.

With a generous warranty and a very unique product, the value in the CF 710 delivers. Still at almost 30% higher than premium vape pens some might think twice before purchasing.

Replacement Cost

Replacements for the 2 included atomizers in the Boundless CF 710 are only $9.99 each, which last you for at least a month or two, maybe more with solid cleaning.

Conclusion

The CF 710 offers a unique way to hit a vape pen. The hits are strong. The build quality is good. The downside is on the go it is not discreet and if you aren’t careful, you might be hitting plastic or paper in addition to your wax. The CF 710 can be found here. You can also see how it stacks up against the rest in our Electronic Nectar Collector Roundup.

Butane Supply Owner Admits Guilt Over BHO Manufacturing Drug Charge

0

The owner of California-based butane supply company has pleaded guilty to a drug charge relating to manufacturing hash oil.

BK Power Imports, Inc. owner, Bosco Kwon, has been charged with knowingly supplying butane used to extract hash oil. Kwon pleaded guilty to a single count of selling drug paraphernalia. According to the Department of Justice, Kwon admitted knowing the dangers of manufacturing hash oil, including fires and explosions. Knowing it would be used to make butane hash oil, also known as BHO, BK Power Imports illegally sold butane to smoke shops across the U.S.

Power Butane
Power Butane

What is BHO and How is it Made?

BHO is a powerful concentrate of marijuana. The appearance can be like honey, butter, or wax and contains high quantities of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The end product is highly lucrative and smoked by many.

variety of BHO wax
variety of BHO wax

The most common way of making BHO is to pack fresh marijuana into a tube and spray butane through the vessel. The gas strips the marijuana leaves of their cannabinoid-containing oils, and drip out of the tube through a filter. Next, the highly-concentrated remains are heated to help remaining butane or other toxins evaporate.

Butane is pumped through the vessel of marijuana

BHO is a Schedule 1 controlled substance. The manufacturing of BHO is a violation of Federal law [Title 21, US Code, Section 841]. It’s also a violation of California State law, Health and Safety Code, Section 11379.6.

What Are The Dangers Relating to Butane?

Butane is an odorless, colorless, flammable gas – heavier than air. When making BHO, it can evaporate out of the concentrate and accumulate on the floor. Without proper ventilation, the collecting butane poses a very real threat. Without knowing it, there could be a pool of gas just waiting to cause a fire, or worse – explode.

With the popularity of wax growing, this invisible killer has caused many incidents over the last few years. According to Homeland Security Investigations, there’s been four deaths in California, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington – all from using Power butane. There have also been 29 serious injuries, and at least 54 fires and explosions, all since 2011.

Dave Shaw (special agent of Homeland Security Investigations – San Diego) says; “HSI is committed to targeting the supply chains where butane gas is sold on the black market for use in hash oil labs. By going after the supply chains and the illicit proceeds, we are able to dismantle the distribution networks, which is a critical step toward shutting down a dangerous epidemic that has put the public’s safety in harm’s way for too long.”

BK Power Imports, Inc.

BK Power Imports – the L.A-based business, was the largest supplier of butane in the country. Their product was specifically designed for use in making hash oil.

Kwon (owner) sold his butane to both wholesalers and retailers in San Diego and throughout the U.S. It was sold under many names including; Power, Power 5x, Power 7x, Power 9x, and Power 11x. BK Power Imports supplied smoke shops including “Marry Jane House of Glass Inc”, “Twilight Zone”, “Puff and Stuff”, and “The Grow Shop.”

Kwon (BK Power Imports) was sued in 2015, over a fatal explosion and fire. Two people were making hash oil using Power butane when the explosion occurred. One died and the other suffered third-degree burns on over 40% of his body, leaving him in intensive care for months. Kwon continued to sell Power, despite this deadly incident and lawsuit.

Kwon imported over 350,000 butane canisters into the U.S every month. He agreed to forfeit over one million dollars and over 94,000 containers of butane, as part of his plea agreement.

Power Imports, Inc. owner Kwon will be sentenced before U.S. District Judge Janis L. Sammartino, on April 28, 2017.

The Two Leading Butane Suppliers

BK Power Imports aren’t the first major supplier to come under fire from the government.

This investigation follows the successful prosecution of the owners of another large supply company, Puretane. Last year, the CEO and CFO of Puretane admitted conspiracy to launder proceeds from their illegal butane business.

Puretane
Puretane

Puretane marketed their product specifically for making pure BHO wax. Each canister sold for approximately $4-5 throughout the United States. Over 25 retailers in San Diego bought Puretane, including Raw Smokeshop, Dr. Green’s Ink, and Holy Smoke. Puretane sold more than 400,000 canisters of butane between February and August of 2015

In 2015 Puretane held a BHO wax competition. The prize was one case of Puretane butane to the contestant that manufactured the best BHO, in terms of quality.

CEO Michael Tandberg and CFO Adam Hopkins agreed to forfeit money remaining in their corporate bank account. Over 66,000 canisters of Puretane were forfeit aswell.

Conclusion

The underground and unregulated industry of BHO manufacturing often takes place in basements, garages, or kitchens. In these environments, a spark from something as regular as a fridge compressor could set off a deadly explosion.

Homeland Security Investigations have now shut down the nation’s two leading suppliers of butane designed for making hash oil. Stay safe and let’s hope nobody else loses a life over some hash oil.

Making Hash Oil Is Illegal : Watch This BHO Explosion Unfold!

BHO explosion puts man behind bars for 9 years.

Wax, dabs, shatter… Whatever you call it, ‘Butane Hash Oil’ (BHO) remains a Schedule 1 controlled substance. Illegal maybe, but many people still risk their freedom to make this sought-after product. Even though medical marijuana has grown in acceptance, BHO has remained illegal in most states according to state law as well. Hash oil has pros and cons, but nobody wants to experience a BHO explosion!

BHO WAX

BHO is often made by pushing Butane through a tube or vessel of marijuana. The solvent strips the Cannabinoids from the plant material and oil drips out of the container. The infused oil is left to evaporate and air bubbles are whipped out until the consistency is smooth.

BHO is an extremely potent marijuana concentrate, with textures like honey, butter or wax. With very high levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), this product can be highly-profitable. The law has since caught onto this chemical extraction process however and punish extractors harshly.

Health and Safety Code 11379.6

“The manufacture of BHO is a violation of federal law, Title 21, US Code, Section 841. The manufacture of BHO is also a violation of California state law, Health and Safety Code, Section 11379.6” says justice.gov.

The drive behind Health and Safety code 11379.6 is to protect the public from fires, injury or death. Simply put, the law prohibits illegally manufacturing controlled substances. This includes anybody who endangers the lives of the public, by using toxic or flammable chemicals or processes to extract marijuana.

As explained by Bart Kaspero Law firm, the law applies to the EXTRACTION of marijuana to produce concentrates. There are many ways to do this – but whether you use Butane or not, it’s still a felony offense.

Specifics

Shouse California Law Group reports that the California Health and Safety Code {11379.6.} specifically prohibits;

“manufacturing, compounding, converting, producing, deriving, processing, preparing or offering to engage in any of these acts with respect to any controlled substance specified in Health and Safety Code Sections 11054 – 11058 HS.6”

Controlled substances include (but aren’t limited to) marijuana, PCP, ecstasy, LSD, heroin, cocaine and meth. The manufacturing of, use and possession of controlled substances are regulated by the government under the ‘United States Controlled Substances Act’.

It’s useful to point out, even being a knowing ‘participant’ in the initial steps of manufacturing a drug is enough to condemn you. This means, the process does not need to be completed before legal action is taken.

What Is The Punishment For Extraction?

Except as otherwise stated by law, every person who manufactures, compounds, converts, produces, derives, processes, or prepares, either directly or indirectly by chemical extraction or independently by means of chemical synthesis, any controlled substance specified in Section 11054-11058 shall be punished by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170 of the Penal Code for three, five, or seven years and by a fine not exceeding fifty thousand dollars ($50,000).

The punishment of extraction is worse than possession. When a California man admitted guilt over supplying Butane (known to be used for manufacturing BHO), Justice.gov explained;

During the manufacture of BHO, butane, a flammable gas that is odorless, colorless, and heavier than air, can evaporate out of the substance and collect on the floor, accumulating to explosive levels without proper ventilation. This process creates an invisible, but very real, risk of fire, bho explosion, and chemical burns.

Since 2011…manufacturers of hash oil using Power butane has caused at least 54 fires and explosions, 29 serious injuries, and four deaths in California, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington, according to Homeland Security Investigations agents.

BHO Explosion

Explosions caused by home-made marijuana concentrate set-ups have become a common occurrence, in recent years. A process which is simple to recreate, is now a potential death sentence. The legal spread of medical and recreational marijuana has led to a BHO explosion increase across the USA.

Even when prepared and educated on the processes of making wax or oil concentrates; butane vapor is unpredictable. Due to the lethality of the method, it’s crucial to warn and educate the public on safety hazards involved with these procedures. Anyone found guilty of making BHO wax will likely have to live with a serious felony on their record.

Why flirt with danger?

What makes the process so dangerous isn’t the extraction itself – it’s butane ventilation. Butane is highly flammable and sinks to the ground. If butane collects indoors, you run the risk of losing your ceiling, or your life. A small spark from a cigarette, stove, or any other source of ignition can be a tragedy waiting to happen.

A medical marijuana dispensary (New Mexico) was fined for safety violations last year after a serious BHO explosion. The BHO explosion landed two workers in hospital with serious burns, one needing skin grafts and the other surgery. The Cannabist reports;

“A report from the Santa Fe Fire Department said a butane leak from one of the lines met with an ignition source to cause the blast, which was powerful enough to separate the roof from the wall and melt fluorescent lights close to the explosion.”

Watch this surveillance video capture the rapid escalation of danger linked to butane, and the BHO explosion that follows. Two men are shown working, seconds later the men and the room are engulfed in flames. They’re lucky to have survived.

Stay Safe

Manufacturing hash oil can be dangerous and is illegal. Even in states that support recreational use of marijuana, laws are becoming more restrictive. This is in reaction to the ever-growing number of fires, injuries and deaths caused by a BHO explosion in the hands of a novice manufacturer.

Stay safe out there people. Do not attempt to make your own BHO wax unless you’re ready to face the consequences of the law. More than anything else, the safety of you and the people around you is what matters most.
