Boundless Tera : Feature-Packed Hybrid Vape

Tera-Boundless-vaporizer-review

Today we come to our third in the three-part Boundless vape reviews – or “aromatherapy devices,” as Boundless’ own documentation mentions. The Boundless Tera is a larger unit which is not only for vaping dry herb, but extracts as well via a little banger pad provided.

Or continue with this post so you can admire Riddle, yet another Dab Connection mascot pet, caught in a posing mood.

Boundless-Tera-2

Pros:

  • Solid build
  • Replaceable batteries
  • Great airflow
  • Thick, puffy clouds on every hit
  • Fully set temperature control
  • Fast heat-up
  • Concentrate and extract “dabbing” option
  • Timed sleep mode

Cons:

  • Bit pricey on the dry herb vape scale
  • Bulkier than the average pocket unit

Recommendations: None

A Fistful of Boundless Vaping!

Be very sure, the Boundless Tera is good for a nice long session! The bucket is a generous 0.6 grams capacity, the airflow is marvelous, the mouthpiece is wide, and the unit is powerful in heating herb to a toasty, flavorful perfection. I can easily get a half-hour of blissful vaping on the Tera, which never fails to satisfy. While the unit is not very discreet, it is perfect for armchair vaping at home.

The option for vaping concentrates via the drop-in pad is a bonus feature. If you are a hardcore dabber, you will want a full eRig or glass and torch. But if you mainly vape dry herb and only occasionally use concentrate, the Boundless Tera is aimed right at you.

Boundless-Tera-5

From Box to Vape:

Remove the front battery cover and install the 2 batteries, positive side up. Plug in the charger cord and charge to full, if needed. I’d recommend a “test run” to heat the unit for the first time without material in it, to burn off manufacturing impurities. Then load the chamber with your herb, apply the mouthpiece, hit the power button 5x to turn on. The 2 side buttons increment or decrement the temperature setting, and can read out in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. The temperature range is 104ºF to 428ºF. Press and hold the power button to begin heating the unit; vape at desired temperature.

Full instructions are included in a complete manual in 3 languages, as well as documenting diagrams on the box, so you should have no trouble.

Boundless-Tera-3

Full Vape Clouds, Great Taste

After my experience with other Boundless products, I have come to expect a quality build and the Tera is no exception. It heats up quickly and consistently, bringing through the full flavor and effects of your herb. Huffing and puffing away, I have enjoyed a couple sessions lasting half an hour, with satisfying hits from beginning to end.

Boundless-Tera-6

The Boundless Tera is a Good Option For a Niche User Base

As I point out, if you are just in the market for a typical pocket-sized dry herb vape, Boundless itself offers the Vexil, more suited to that purpose. With the extended function and features of this unit, Boundless aims at the hybrid user market with the Tera, which retails currently for $199. If you only get into concentrates occasionally and don’t want to spend money on a full eRig, the Tera is your perfect answer.

In conclusion, I’m well satisfied with the Boundless Tera and Vexil, both of them solid units with great airflow that gets the goodies straight to the customer with no middle-man. The small, budget unit, the CFC Lite, was the only one that underwhelmed me, but at $64 it is only to be considered as a budget unit for the casual user. The Tera works as the deluxe option, while the Vexil hits the Goldilocks zone in between.

Readers, share your wisdom regarding Boundless, the Tera, dry herb vapes in general, “aromatherapy devices” in particular, or your own off-topic ramblin’ here on the comments or in our vapor-clouded forum.

Carte Blanche Disposable Review – In Love With This Vape

carte blanche vape cart review

My carte blanche disposable hybridMimosa” flavored HHC vape pen showed up a few hours ago. I am gaga in love with this product for numerous reasons.

carte blanche vape cart

Awesome design and functionality

The design and functionality are the best I’ve used.  Click the power button twice and it lights up and changes colors until it lands on green in a  second or two – ready! The plastic cap to protect the mouthpiece fits perfectly. I don’t have to worry about it falling off in my bag. The sleek design is fabulous. It fits in my hand perfectly. It fits in my pocket better than the long pen models I had. And no more of those awful moments when you drop the pen and then sheepish look down to see if your expensive, glass cartridge has shattered on the floor. This handy, plastic disposable vape battery and the cartridge is a winner.

carte blanche vape cart close up

Fruity flavor

The flavor is fruity but not too much so. It had a little of mango or tropical fruit vibe to it – pleasant, mild, and with no after-taste. It also is good to go in public because of the fruity smell. Most importantly, it pulls very smoothly – no gagging or coughing jags.

Mimosa jams all the way

As far as the buzz – quite delightful – exactly what I was looking for. I recently had tried a three-pack of different vape cartridges from a local dispensary and didn’t really fall in love with any of them.  Mimosa is my jam.

Affordable price

I looked up the price to see if it was something I could afford to enjoy regularly. Their base price ($44.99) was on point and the product was on sale for 50% off. Very affordable. I will be ordering more. Can’t say enough.

I love this product. I highly recommend it!

Boundless CFC Lite : Very Economical Vape

Boundless-CFC-Lite-review

We’re going to be trying out several products by Boundless, specifically their hardware. Boundless makes what you and I would call “cannabis vaporizers,” but what they are currently referring to as “herbal aromatherapy devices.” There’s something back there about the randomly applied federal mail vape ban and its complete SNAFU of implementation – some vendors closed shop, some applied for the badly backlogged exception status, and some companies simply switched to saying, “hey, we only sell aromatherapy devices!” Who said anything about vapes?

So… we will be enjoying some therapeutic aromatherapy with our favorite herb.

Pros:

  • Very affordable
  • Replaceable battery
  • Compact and discreet
  • Comfortable grip
  • Comprehensive manual

Cons:

  • Decent airflow but not the tops
  • The mouthpiece gets very hot

Recommendations: Extended mouthpiece / accessories to guard against overheating

CFCLite-2

The Boundless CFC Lite is a Minimalist Vaporizer

When it comes to stand-alone dry herb vapes, this is among the most compact designs we’ve ever seen. We’ve seen smaller cartridge batteries, but not a smaller vaporizer. The Boundless CFC Lite has an efficient, minimalist design, weighing a little over 9 ounces. But maybe it has a few kinks to work out before calling it a perfect design.

Unpacking to First Hit:

First you unscrew the bottom lid to access the battery chamber and insert the provided battery, positive side inward. Secure the cap on the bottom and pop off the mouthpiece at the top, revealing a small ceramic chamber. As the instructions recommend, pack this chamber with 0.4 grams of your finely ground herb.

Then it takes 5 clicks of the button to turn it on. The LED will blink while it is heating up and go steady when it’s at full temperature, along with a haptic vibration. Pressing and holding the button for a second switches to cycle through the temperature settings. The temps are:

  • blue: 385°F
  • green: 403°F
  • red: 421°F

After that, it’s in “inhale on demand” mode. There is no auto-off time-out that I can find, so leaving the unit turned on and loaded is not advised. The middle setting provides the best heat balance that I’ve tried for vaping dry herb.

The unit is padded with a rubber lined grip coating, very easy to handle. The Boundless CFC Lite has many strong points.

CFCLite-3

The Mouthpiece is the Only Issue

The mouthpiece to the CFC Lite is a blunt bit of plastic with passable, but restricted, airflow. The chief issue here is that it heats up. Since the heating element + herb chamber is right there at the top, it stands to reason that some heat would transfer to the mouthpiece. This doesn’t quite get you into “hot lips” territory, but at high settings for too long it starts getting uncomfortable.

With that said, this unit is almost a sneak-a-toke, designed for short sessions where heating up won’t be a major issue. But it would still get some mileage out of improvements to the mouthpiece.

CFCLite-4

An Economical No-Frills Vape

The CFC Lite currently sells on the site for a mere $64.99. This casts the rest of this review in a new light, because that is the cheapest dry herb vape I have seen yet and possibly the cheapest anywhere. So if you’re a budget-conscious vaper, this is the unit for you!

On the whole, I’m moderately impressed. There are more expensive cartridge batteries out there, and the CFC Lite does its job without much fuss. The replaceable battery makes this even more of a bargain; when the battery gives out, you can just buy a replacement battery and keep the unit for further service. The mouthpiece issue is certainly an easy enough fix, but even there the CFC Lite is still enjoyable.

Penguin Pete’s Party Guide to Cannabinoids

Greetings, my cosmic blueberries!

This post is aimed to be a short, concise guide to the wide world of alternative cannabinoids. You see the alphabet soup of alt-cans at cannabis dispensaries, marijuana retailers, vape shops, and just about at every other gas station now. We’re here to break this down as simply as possible. Hopefully, as a conscientious and responsible cannabis consumer, you will find this guide useful as you shop for cannabis products, but meet an unfamiliar alt-can you haven’t tried yet.

Shout-out to the alt-cannabinoids subreddit on Reddit, a forum chock-full of cannabis chemistry experts. This guide is for newbies or old-school kids (like me!) Millennial to GenX (*grins*) to Boomers and beyond, who got used to smoking Just Plain THC Pot back in the day before they came out with all this new-fangled stuff.

YMMV

DISCLAIMERS:

We Need Much More Cannabinoid Research

Everybody is different! How cannabinoids affect the individual vary from person to person, depending on factors like…

  • weight
  • BMI
  • diet
  • existing medical conditions
  • metabolism
  • medium of dosage (edible | concentrate | flower | vape)

In addition, there are “entourage effects” between different compounds. This means that 2 cannabinoids may combine to form a unique effect between the two of them, or cannabinoids may hit different if taken with full-spectrum terpenes, etc. The buyer should also beware: Not every extraction laboratory has altcan concentration down to an exact science. Check their laboratory test results – all reputable altcan dealers should post them. You should also beware of the placebo effect, where the power of suggestion can make you apply different standards to a new drug.

Defining Altcans (Alternative Cannabinoids)

The below is a layman’s blogger’s attempt to clarify the chemical mystery surrounding all this molecule talk. I have no organic chemistry, medical, nor other related degree; this is just based on research and then conveyed as simply as I can manage.

Defining altcans: ALL altcans we discuss here are “natural” alternative cannabinoids occurring in the marijuana plant itself. Up until the past recent decades when cannabis prohibition has tapered off in North America, most consumers just knew about “THC,” now known as “THC delta 9” or “THCD9” or even just “D9.” Altcans generally deal with cannabis base material which has had the THCD9 removed or with hemp grown to be low THCD9 in the first place. “Altcans” refer to everything but THCD9.

Bottom line: All naturally-occurring altcans are present in every bud of cannabis anyone has ever smoked, just in diminishing quantities. A typical cannabis plant as she grows from the ground might be, say, 25% THC, 35% CBD, 8% CBG, and then a bunch of little 1%-ers (including THCA, CBDA, etc.) trailing down the laboratory test sheet.

Just because the cannabinoid is naturally present in the plant doesn’t mean we can’t synthesize a cannabinoid from another one. Most altcans derive naturally from each other; e.g. leave THCD9 sit long enough and some of it will degrade to THCD8. Extraction laboratories may take something like CBD and tweak it into HHC, etc. Industrial-scale quantities of altcans are typically produced starting from another cannabinoid, CBD (always super-abundant in hemp), and then altering it through elementary processes.

When you see something like “delta 8/9/10” or added letters as in THC-O or HHC-O, those are isomers and acetates of THC. I am generalizing with a vengeance here, and don’t expect us to dwell on organic chemistry too long. But isomers are generally the same atoms as the original molecule but arranged in a slightly different configuration, while acetates – as I make it out this far – have a spare atom or two added to the molecule.

Bottom line: All altcans listed here are “natural” in that they are found in the plant. They are typically produced for consumers by simple process of altering CBD. These are no more “artificial” than the food coloring on your birthday cake this year. NO, that does not make them guaranteed harmless at any dosage – we never isolated all these cannabinoids (an estimated 100 or so discovered) from cannabis before and then consumed them in such quantities. Much more laboratory testing has to be done before we definitively conclude anything. Use your own prudence.

A Description of AltCan Effects:

I have an issue with cannabis descriptions. The consumer-level terms we see out there just don’t describe the true effects adequately. Cannabis effects need a new spectrum of descriptions to match this parade of altcans coming out in retail consumer cannabis industry products. These words are unhelpful:

  • “high”
  • “psychoactive”
  • “Sativa” – “Indica” – “Hybrid”

The first is subjective. The altcan spectrum has a whole range of feelings and sensations; “high” just doesn’t cover it and is misleading. The second is an oxymoron; *every* altcan is a little bit psychoactive to some degree, in that it has an effect on your mental state. Even coffee and sugar and ginseng are psychoactive. As for the whole “sativa-indica” classification, every cannabis plant on Earth is a hybrid now anyway, and the thousands upon thousands of strains do not fall into three neat pigeon-holes.

INSTEAD, I’m using these words to describe cannabinoid effects, and urge you to copy and share:

  • Euphoria – What people usually call the “high” part. Happy, giddy, giggly, manic
  • Baked – The condition of feeling “too stoned.” Mental confusion, sluggish energy, possible anxiety or stupor
  • Brain Fog – The mental state of confusion. Difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, poor executive function
  • Uplifting – A milder version of euphoria. Calming, meditating, focusing, happy
  • Energizing – Giving you lots of energy. Stimulating, clear-headed, motivating
  • Inspiring – A heady high which stimulates creative thinking. Clear-headed, focusing, good study aid
  • Focusing – Almost feels like ADHD meds. Mental acuity, concentration, “work high”
  • Psychedelic – A subjective state that rarely appears, this borders on “trippy” effects. Mental confusion, seeing or hearing things, difficulty focusing, spacey
  • Couch-Lock – The sluggish feeling like you want to plop into the couch and not move. Laziness, relaxation, deep stress relief
  • Therapeutic – A low-euphoria effect more focused on “body effects,” not much psychoactivity. Relaxing, pain relief, anti-inflammatory
  • Recreational – The opposite of “therapeutic,” though you can have both. Fun, party, whoopie
  • Drowsiness – It makes you feel sleepy. Sedating, calming, soothing
  • Appetizing – Noted for giving you “munchies.”

Readers, you can add to this list in the comments below, if you note a pronounced effect tat is common across several altcans. Our descriptions are based on (a) my most educated guess as a scholar of cannabis, (b) consensus from other reports. However, we do not add new altcans to this list until several of our reviewers have tried them and a consensus of views can be reached.

We will try to add new altcans as time goes by, so check back!

Reminder one last time, I’m describing these primarily as they hit me, and secondarily how I see them reported by others. Take everything here as a subjective report.

The Cannabinoids:

Mystic-Labs-gummies

THC delta 9

EFFECTS: Euphoria, brain fog, inspiring, appetizing

The big famous cannabinoid that needs no introduction here. This is the classic feeling of being “stoned.” THC by itself hits differently by itself, isolated, as in gummies that are not full spectrum. THC is a great recreational cannabinoid, but can lead to feeling too baked at high doses for some.

vivimu thca boxes

THCA

EFFECTS: Euphoria, brain fog, inspiring, appetizing

Even though THCA is a relatively recent offering in the cannabis market, THCA is simply the precursor to THC. The difference is, regular cannabis products are cured to help turn THCA into THC. THCA cannabis simply skips that step. There’s almost no difference since you convert THCA into THC whenever you burn or vape it. If you’re making edibles, you have to decarb the plant matter first, turning THCA into THC, because you can’t do that internally. SO, bottom line, THCA is simply “THC before you set it on fire,” and once consumed has identical effects to THC delta 9.

Botany-Farms-D8hemp_2

Delta 8

EFFECTS: Euphoria, inspiring, focusing

THC delta 8 is an isomer of THCD9, and all the “delta” cannabinoids are likewise. THCD8 hits exactly like half the effects of regular classic THCD9. In fact, you’ll find that delta 8 is rapidly becoming a popular alternative to THCD9. It keeps you in a great mood without slowing you down. It has no mental fog to speak of and is preferred by many for simply feeling like a less intense THCD9. At high doses, it starts feeling more like regular THC.

Vivimu-D10-distillate

Delta 10

EFFECTS: Uplifting, brain fog, couch-lock, drowsiness

Another isomer of THC, THCD10 feels like another lesser-THC, but like you broke off a different piece of THC. Its euphoria is notably lower than either THCD9 or THCD8, but THCD10 also loads up on the more relaxing, baked effects of regular THC. It seems to have a shorter lasting effect, too.

Vivimu-HHC-distillate

HHC

EFFECTS: Euphoria, brain fog, psychedelic, couch-lock

HHC is the first of the cannabinoids people called “stronger than THC.” HHC is a heavy trip, and also seems to be the most variable among user reports, especially in different dosing mediums. At low doses, it feels very minor, but at high doses, it hits almost like a psychedelic. Usually HHC feels more intense than THC, but with more a “baked” feeling than a “stoned” feeling.

BiowellnessX-gummies-_4

CBG

EFFECTS: Energizing, inspiring, focusing, uplifting

CBG is my nomination for top “nootropic” of cannabinoids. I call it the “scholar’s high” or some refer to it as a good “work high.” It enhances cognitive function and gives you a clear-headed, motivating head state. I find no short-term memory gaps or brain fog on CBG, making it the most unique among cannabinoids. Many users simply describe it like an espresso shot or Adderall.

green roads relax bears cbd gummies box

CBD

EFFECTS: Focusing, therapeutic, drowsiness

CBD is the “no psychoactive” cannabinoid. You can take tons of CBD and not feel a thing mentally, but your body has never been more relaxed. Great at pain relief, soothing tension, and a general feeling of comfort. I notice my joints crack more on CBD, and it feels better to stretch. The most therapeutic cannabinoid, with a huge following for its non-high, medicinal effects.

CBD-CBN-gummies

CBN

EFFECTS: Drowsiness, therapeutic, couch-lock

CBN is another cannabinoid virtually missing the “head effects,” second only to CBD in therapeutic value. CBN is recommended for a sleep aid more than anything else. At lower doses it’s simply soothing and calming, a great stress reliever. At higher doses, it almost puts you in a trance.

THC-O

WARNING

UPDATE: 02/20/2023 – The DEA has reclassified THC-O (in both its delta 8 and delta 9 forms) as a Schedule 1 drug, and there is now a safety advisory to the effect that cannabis acetates (such as THC-O, THC acetate ester) produce ketene, a harmful substance, when inhaled.

We do not recommend using THC-O until all the facts are in!

EFFECTS: Couch-lock, drowsiness, focusing

THC-O is an acetate version of THC. While there have been wild claims about THC-O, so far three of our own reviewers (including yours truly) feel almost nothing off THC-O. At higher doses I notice it does produce some brain fog and obviously even at low doses it’s relaxing, but it’s more on the “therapeutic” end than the “recreational” end. From what I gather from other reports, THC-O doesn’t seem to do much of anything.

HHC-O-flower

HHC-O

EFFECTS: Uplifting, brain fog, psychedelic, drowsiness

HHC-O is an acetate version of HHC. Its effects hit similar to HHC, but in a mildly different way, with decreased euphoria but a pronounced spacey feeling. At higher doses, HHC-O is very foggy and couch-lock-prone. Some users report feeling “spaced out,” but like its cousin, HHC’s effects also have a broader spectrum of reported effects, probably varying by high and low doses.

Combinations of Cannabinoids!

Just when you were getting used to isolated altcans one at a time, along comes some manufacturer to hit you with this:

InHeal-Meltz-box

Great, that’s THCv, CBC, CBN, CBG, and CBD in one package! I tried these, and they hit pretty much like weed. When you get five or more altcans together, they start adding up to feel more like regular THCD9, which makes sense since most of them are components of the same molecule and attach to our receptors in complimentary ways.

The most common mixer is CBD. You almost can’t get an altcan product without some CBD tossed in there. Just about any kind of flower has high CBD as well as the rest of the cannabinoids they’re focusing on. The same goes for anything “full spectrum,” take CBD almost for granted.

Some cannabinoids also have their own entourage effect. For example, delta 8 (THCD8) plus CBG feels like a new sensation that is more than the sum of its parts, but generally a high-minded euphoria which is uplifting and inspiring. Some altcans are antagonists of others, counter-acting the effects of one until high doses, where it replaces the suppressed effects with its own effects.

It gets weird!

DISCLAIMER: We’re trying a new thing here, with a new standard for describing altcan effects. This list is bound to variance and subjective impressions – like we say, one person’s bunk trip is another person’s panacea. We have years to go before we sort it all out yet.

Penguin Pete’s 4/20 Pop Hits of Pot : 2022

Lost-Farm-monster

Greeting, my precious cosmic blueberries! Who’s ready for some mind expansion as we plunge into the unknown depths of psychedelic experience and tasty smokin’? Join me, Penguin Pete, your Jester of Joints!

Penguin-Petes-Pops

Penguin Pete’s Pop Hits of Pot is your guide to April 2022

A month which aligned Easter, 4/20, and Earth Day in the same week. Yeah verily, this is a greatly needed break for all of us innocent patients and potheads who just wanna chill with the dankest. We got a cannabis carnival going on out there on the dispensary scene for this year’s 4/20. Your humble blogger has smoked and vaped and huffed his way through mountains of distillate, edibles, and good ol’ country flower. Naturally you can imagine, if ever there was a 4/20 to blow out, it’s this year, right? Just feel that stress melt away!

Let me tell you first just how hard we work here at Dab Connection to bring you one of the most trusted review sources in the US cannabis industry. We smoke, bubble, vape, and chew our way through a whole bowl of THC edibles every morning for breakfast with milk and sugar. And we have flown the cosmos inscrutable and commuted with our ancestors. We smoke so much weed around here, Snoop can’t wait for our album to drop. I sort my nugs with a pitchfork for 4/20. Here’s one now, right before we tossed it on the barbecue:

OutCo Kush Mints / Do-Si-Dos Flower : potent and tasty!

OutCo-kush-mints-do-si-dos

If you didn’t know you were reading a Penguin Pete post, you sure know from the sloppy photography unlike our Hollywood-trained photographer Ben Chu‘s reviews.

OutCo‘s flower was our first stop on the Dabber Dasher express. These 2 weed strains are both from southern Cali. This is some potent stuff at 35% cannabinoids, giving a soothing, relaxed effect that mellowed your humble penguin right into the ol’ bean bag chair. But let the photos do some talking (sloppy though they be): Gaze upon this sunny bud of golden state dewy goodness, glistening with trichomes and a sweet, tasty tang. Let us be fair, this is potent punch with the Kush Mints THC giving it a kick like a mule. But more than anything, it reduced my stress to zero.

I had only begun my 4/20 2022 review shift (pity us, for we toil mightily for thy service) and sampled a rolled joint of OutCo flower. True to its effects, I was laid out in a state of couchlock, my mind not up to tasks more taxing than video pong. It’s a sturdy, satifying smoke, but deep Indica in breed, best left to when you don’t have stuff to do. And I still had more reviewing to do for 4/20! I steeled my resolve and soldiered on…

CBX Cannabiotics GM-Uhoh : Even more potent!

CBX-flower

Good thing I was ready for the long haul, because CBX Cannabiotics has whipped up a concoction surely born of a mad scientist’s laboratory. This sneaky hybrid is a skunk bud. It smells dank and strong, with a musky and gassy aroma that promises to whack some sense into your noggin. This jar should just come with a hip hop soundtrack on Soundcloud and be done with it. Its punny strain name, GM-Uhoh!, was foreshadowing for the wicked trip I was about to embark on. This strain – GM-UHOH! – has a stupid name, but delivers a punch that will win your respect back.

The effects hit me like a true truckload of THC would hit anyone: I was stoned to the bone and this time less laid out, but not quite working in my present dimension. I assessed the pile of cannabis products waiting for my sample and appreciation. 4/20 is running over me like an out-of-control Mardi Gras float at this point, but dammit we’ll find a way to sort through this. I can still type, look there are keys! My keyboard is right side up and everything.

But thanks, CBX Cannabiotics! I must quote your “about” page: “a weed company with one specific goal in mind: to be able to provide their friends and family with the craziest weed they have ever seen or smoked.” I like a company who puts the work “crazy” right in their mission statement! GM-Uhoh is a skunky, powerful strain with an inspiring effect and juicy terpene goodness that soaks into your embrace like a welcome friend.

I had to hit GM-Uhoh one more time the next day for my morning wake and bake. Together with my morning espresso, a bongload went into my system like a fresh bowl of Wheaties. It put the tiger in my tank.

Verano Travelers series 0.3G disposable oil pen : Delicious, but gone too soon!

Verano should be no stranger to the august pages of our history of dab Connection reviews. We visited Verano’s Travelers line of oil pens way back in our archives, 2018, in a review by Javier Guzman (who has since moved on to further career aspirations). I added my 2¢ in an edited update on that page, but I will reiterate my findings here.

I am impressed with Verano’s enduring quality after all these years. That previous review was four years ago, and Javier’s findings were a mirror of mine. So kudos to Verano for sticking to their standards! The strain of Traveler’s pen I obtained was from an Illinois dispensary, but I lost track of the name somewhere in my THC-baked scribbled notes by now. I think it was Tangie. I tasted specifically the terpenes pinene or carene (they are close together, tree-based) and a hint of eucalyptol if I’m not mistaken.

Verano-Travelers-disposable-0_3G-oil-pen

The Verano Traveler disposable oil pen is an experience in smooth-vaping satisfaction. It has a rich flavor as if you distilled fresh squeezed pot juice with a process not unlike apple cider. It had a warm, rich, tea-like aroma and smooth hits. It’s mellow in the morning, soothing in the afternoon, relaxing in the evening, neither too strong nor too lightweight. Every drop of oil tasted as good as the first. The effects were not too couch-locky, but very mellow and soothing.

The Verano Traveler is a classy vape, the kind Cary Grant would enjoy while sipping a Manhattan, had he lived to see the technology.

BUT it is also still just 300 ml of oil, best for those who want quality over quantity. Hit it light and it will last a week, or hit it heavy for your fun day off. These Jupiter batteries are NOT meant to last for weeks! I see people comment all the time, “how come my oil pen battery died while there’s still oil left?” You did not vape it fast enough. Sorry, but it is a disposable at a reasonable price, and does everything I expect from an oil pen.

Interlude: Beaverdale Confections Munchie stop!

Cannabis like this, and sampling so much of it, tends to involve munchies as an occupational hazard. Normally your humble author is an almost-vegetarian salad muncher, content to satiate myself with herbs of the land. But once in a while, ESPECIALLY for 4/20, you gotta splurge on quality munchies, y’know? Yolo! So Penguin Pete personally commandeered the Dabber Dasher for the heart of his Midwest home stompin’ ground, central Iowa, to visit the magical hamlet of Beaverdale, Des Moines, at Beaverdale Confections:

Beaverdale_confections3

Just had to give a shout-out for the best 4/20 munchies sustenance a stoner could ask for! These “pizzelle” deal-i-os are a kind of soft waffle-textured cookie, dipped in rich, deep Belgian chocolate! The gourmet marshmallows may seem off-beat, especially raspberry flavored, but once you try it you will see that this is how marshmallows are supposed to be done. BTW, I also got a roll of Necco wafers there, because I’m an old Generatioin X fart.

Well, let me tell you! This excursion fortified us well. True to my promises, we had secured the tastiest of sustenance and our cross-country adventure continued. And it’s good that we had prudently planned our itinerary, for the huge quantities of bong smoke hotboxing the RV windows would have choked a less stalwart soul. We were having trouble finding the road. Most especially we were distracted by the existential reality of driving on a road trip to sample pot, deconstructing the molecular components of the tar beneath our steel-belteds as we piloted our shaky voyage for yet more mind trips down the route 66 highway, shrieking at the flying monkeys in the sky in the hot desert sun.

Down a Rainbow Road straight out of Mario Cart, we arrived again in the twinkling land of edibles, in the heart of L.A., California, to sample confections of an entirely different kind!

Kiva Confections Lost Farm Gummies : Goblin’ Good!

This was the edible our mothers had warned us about:

Lost-Farm-monster

The Minecraft zombie on my patented Penguin Pete bookshelf growled with hunger as he crept slowly towards the irresistible bag of delicious Kiva Confections Lost Farm edible gummies. “No! Bad zombie!” I shrieked, poking it away with my geeky Star Wars lightsaber (yes of course I have one). Alas, the zombie had munched through the bag like a cat pilfering treats, until we had but one left:

Lost-Farm-1

An unassuming edible from appearance, this confection closely resembles a Starburst fruit chew. Unwrapped, it smelled and tasted sweet and fruity, with a punchy taste. At 10MG per serving, the juicy strawberry chew promises a modest hit, not too heavy, with a full spectrum of live resin for an entourage effect.

The gummy was tasty and when its effects kicked in, my 4/20 holiday adventure was complete, with a tingling, persistent THC buzz to keep the mellow vibes going. Regrettably our greedy zombie beat us to most of this bag, but we may revisit the unknown parameters of Lost Farms again!

I have to pay extra kudos to Kiva Confection’s education resources. It’s good to see a brand that cares about public education and cannabis advocacy.

And now we turn the Dabber Dasher US nationwide tour over to Ben Chu, also in California, who did his reviews separately as listed in our main 4/20 2022 review and deals list.

Dabbers, Vapers, and Stoners: Stay Tuned for continuing 4/20 coverage!

By gumbo, let it never be said that we don’t work hard to research the United States cannabis industry to seek out the best for all you cosmic blueberries! Share your vibes and post your blazing hot takes here in the basic comments section or in our super high tech advanced forum.

4/20 cheers!

Smilyn HHC Disposable Vape Review – Amazing Flavor

smilyn hhc review

Today we will take a deep dive into the Smilyn HHC Disposable Vape, the newest disposable vape from Smilyn Hemp. The flavor is really nice in this Blackberry Kush Disposable HHC Vape, and the device is easy to use and convenient. I think anyone who likes cannabis would like this product, and it’s nice that you can order this online, rather than going to the medical dispensary in person and jumping through those hoops.

Pros:

  • Amazing flavor, convenient, and easy to use for a beginner
  • The inconspicuous aroma makes this a great “on the go” option.

Cons:

  • Kind of expensive

Recommendations: None

Compliant Hemp-Derived HHC Distillate, Natural Terpenes

I’m reviewing a Smilyn Wellness HHC disposable vape, that is Blackberry Kush strain, and is Indica.  The box says 900 mg and 1 ml, so I’m not sure if that means there is 900 mg of HHC and 100 mg of terpenes, for a total of 1 gram or 1 ml, or what that means.

I like the packaging; there are fun chemical stick figure diagrams and I like how the boxes are blue and white, and how the box has instructions too.

Who would enjoy this? Probably everyone!

I think these disposable vape pens are great for anyone looking for a convenient, easy-to-use, inconspicuous medical Cannabis vape here in Ohio.  It has everything you need to start medicating right away and in the case of this Sgt. Pepper strain option, anyone who likes balanced hybrid strains would probably find this to be very beneficial with pain, anxiety, and stress during the day.

Good flavor and effects!

I really like the flavor of this vape.  The strain that I chose, “Blackberry Kush”, is an Indica, so it should be more suitable to use later in the day.  I don’t know how much I believe that, and I just use whatever strains I want whenever.  I prefer Indicas overall, for the flavor.

 High-quality hardware

The vape pen hardware seems to work really well which is expected since it’s made by CCELL. It’s easy to use and the battery lasts a long time too.  The oil seems to last a long time, but I have been using this in conjunction with my regular medical marijuana carts and concentrates and stuff.

Similar Cannabis products for comparison

I have had a few brands of alternative cannabinoid products, and this is one of the best so far.  I think this and the Fukedup.com vapes are my two favorites so far.  The flavor is really nice, and the effects seem good too.  They both help me conserve my medical marijuana carts.

Concluding this review

This Smilyn Hemp HHC Blackberry Kush vape is really good. It has an amazing flavor and is easy to use for a beginner.  I really like it!

Pulsar APX V3 Vape Review – Ultra-Compact Yet Powerful

pulsar apx v3 vape review

Today we will take a three-part look at the new Pulsar APX V3, their latest series of ultra-portable dry herb and extract vaporizers. Pulsar currently offers an assorted variety of dry herbs & extract vaporizers, bongs, dab rigs, various pipes, and accessories. We have previously reviewed their flagship Rok E-rig here. They have sent us three different kinds of vaporizers from their APX V3 family. For this review, I will try out their APX V3 Vape dry herb vaporizer.

Pros:

  • Ultra-compact size
  • Surprisingly strong airflow
  • Excellent flavor
  • Very easy to clean
  • Incredible value

Cons:

  • The device can get very hot

Recommendations: None

pulsar apx v3 vape inside-kit

The ultra-compact Pulsar APX V3 Vape is light yet powerful

The surprisingly strong Pulsar APX V3 Vape is easily one of the smallest dry herb vaporizers I’ve seen on the market. This dry herb vaporizer fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, which makes it ideal for outdoor activities and travel. More compact and discreet than the XMAX V3 Pro, this light yet powerful dry herb vaporizer delivers exceptional hits with excellent airflow. The 1600 mAh battery lasts around 1 ½ to 2 hours of continuous usage, about as long as the LTQ Vapor Curer. Upon opening the kit, you will find the following:

  • APX V3 Vape unit with a plastic mouthpiece
  • Cleaning brush
  • Replacement filters (2)
  • USB-C charging cable
  • Metal pick tool (located at the bottom of the unit)

pulsar apx v3 vape contents

The features of the Pulsar APX V3 Vape, along with the rest of the collection, has been made for maximum ease of use and convenience:

  • Remove the mouthpiece by lightly pulling it towards the button interface side of the unit.
  • Fill the ceramic chamber with your ground herb up to three-quarters full.
  • Gently tap down the ground herb using the metal pick tool that slides out from the bottom of the unit.
  • Remove any excess herb from the top base of the unit using the cleaning brush included in the kit.
  • Reattach the mouthpiece onto the unit.
  • Turn on the unit by pressing the power button five times in rapid succession.
  • The color of the LED that lights up the APX logo will indicate the current battery life. (green for 100% – 60% power level, orange for 60% – 20% power level, and red for 20% – 0% power level)
  • Adjust the temperature setting by pressing and holding the power button down for 3 seconds until it cycles and lands on your preferred heat setting.
  • Inhale through the mouthpiece slowly once the unit vibrates after 30 seconds of heat-up time.

pulsar apx v3 vape display

The Pulsar APX V3 Vape heats up quicker and produces much better clouds than the RYOT Verb

When examining the inside of the unit, the APX V3 Vape uses a cylindrical heating chamber most similar to the XMAX V3 Pro, which uses stainless steel instead of ceramic. The Pulsar APX V3 Vape features five temperature settings, which is indicated by the number of boxes flashing on the menu screens: 374°F, 392°F, 410°F, 428°F, 446°F. Even at the lowest temperature setting of 374°F, the APX V3 Vape heats up quicker and produces better clouds than the RYOT Verb. At the next highest setting of 392°F, the flavor becomes more intense. At the third highest setting of 410°F, the potency starts to gain strength.

Overall, I found most flowers best enjoyed at the fourth temperature setting (428°F). At 428°F, I was able to enjoy the most amount of vapor while still retaining much of the flavor without tasting harsh. The highest temperature setting at 446°F is the new Cash feature available for this version, which helps clear the chamber at the end of the session. This feature produces even bigger clouds; however, it can be harsh with dry flower or specialty flower, such as Delta-8 hemp flower.

Not only is the Pulsar APX V3 Vape easier to use and carry around, but it is also easy to clean on the go with the metal pick tool that slides out, which is located at the bottom of the unit. The only part to clean in this device is the ceramic chamber, which can be swiftly cleaned with the pick tool. Then, all that’s left to do is wipe down the exterior, the mouthpiece, and the mouthpiece filter.

Overall, the Pulsar APX Vape is the best new dry herb vaporizer for under $100

The final verdict: The Pulsar APX V3 Vape is the best new dry herb vaporizer for its ultra-compact size, surprisingly strong airflow, and incredible value. The Pulsar APX V3 Vape is even more compact than the XMAX V3 Pro and hits much better than RYOT Verb. It may lack the versatility of XMAX V3 Pro or the water filtration of the LTQ Vapor Curer, but it is the most compact dry herb vaporizer that still hits exceptionally well. Additionally, it’s much cheaper than most dry herb vaporizers out right now. You can find the Pulsar APX V3 in a variety of different colors and designs here.

FarmaceuticalRX Vape Cart Review – Decent Price and Flavor

farmaceuticair review

Today for our vaping session, we will be trying out FarmaceuticalRX Peach Cobbler Vape Cart. I think these carts are okay, being pretty good.  The subtle sweet peach flavor is pleasant, but not amazing.  I mostly buy Cannabis products based on price and what’s on sale, so factoring in the affordability, this was right up my alley.

Pros:

  • Good Flavor
  • Decent Price
  • The inconspicuous aroma makes this a great “on-the-go” option.

Cons:

  • Mystery brand vape cart hardware

Recommendations: Some hardware clarification would be much appreciated.

farmaceuticair cart

Ingredients: Distillate + Botanical Terpenes

I can’t find where I saw it now, but I’m pretty sure that this FarmaceuticalRX cart contains distillate cannabinoids and botanical terpenes.  This is generally less preferred to Cannabis-derived terpenes or single-strain full spectrum options like rosin.  I like that there are more options in the medical cannabis market here.

farmaceuticair cart details

Who would enjoy this?

These distillate FarmaceuticalRX vape pens are great for anyone looking for a convenient, easy-to-use, inconspicuous medical Cannabis vape here in Ohio, and not so concerned with the flavor.  Maybe I just got a bad one, or that strain isn’t up to my alley.

Decent effects!

The flavor isn’t bad in this one, and I haven’t been disappointed with the effects.  The main terpenes listed on the package are Limonene, Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Linalool.  These terpenes are pretty common in hybrid strains.  I recognized Limonene is the terpene responsible for the citrus flavor and aroma of Limonene.   Caryophyllene is the compound found in black pepper, basil, and oregano, with a funky warmth similar to cinnamon and cloves.  Linalool is the terpene found in Lavender.

farmaceuticair cart side

Mystery cartridge hardware

Unfortunately, this cart has no branding or labeling on it whatsoever.

Similar Cannabis products for comparison:

I have had a few different brands of medical Cannabis vape carts so far, here in Ohio.  It can be difficult for a brand to stand out.  I cannot tell a difference between the distillate carts that use Cannabis-derived terpenes, and the ones that use botanical terpenes.  I do see that it’s a positive thing for them to use Cannabis-derived terpenes, though.

I’m honestly not sure if this cart counts as broad-spectrum or full-spectrum, but if you feel like you don’t get the desired effects from any Broad Spectrum carts, then I know that the Firelands Scientific live hash rosin carts, Grow Ohio, or Klutch CO2 oil Luster Pods or Buckeye Relief Airopro Airo Pods Live resin series or Standard Wellness live resin sauce carts would probably be your best bet because those are full spectrum.  The Airo Pods are my favorite Cannabis vape option so far.

farmaceuticair cart doggo

Concluding our review

The flavor is subtle but not pleasant in my opinion, but the effects seem decent.  This cart is acceptable as far as being an inconspicuous, daytime vape option.  I really don’t know if I will try another FarmaceuticalRX brand cart in the future, but only time will tell.

Ayr Wellness Vape Cart Review – Decently Priced but Not That Tasty

ayr wellness cart review

Today we will take a look at Ayr Wellness Vape Cart. I think these carts are okay for someone that is on a tighter budget.  I mostly buy Cannabis products based on price and what’s on sale, so this was right up my alley.  The flavor is the biggest problem for me here.  It’s kind of sweet, but mostly just gross.

Pros:

  • The gold standard for High-quality vape carts CCELL hardware
  • Decent price
  • The inconspicuous aroma makes this a great “on the go” option.

Cons:

  • I really don’t like the flavor

Recommendations: The taste needs some improvement

EDITOR’S NOTE: We frequently note the taste quality difference in botanical vs. cannabis-derived terpenes, and discuss it some more in our terpenes glossary entry.

Decent effects!

Despite not liking the flavor, I haven’t been disappointed with the effects.  The main terpenes listed on the package are Limonene, Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Linalool.  I recognized Limonene is the terpene responsible for the citrus flavor and aroma for Limonene.   Caryophyllene is the compound found in black pepper, basil, and oregano, with a funky warmth similar to cinnamon and cloves.  Linalool is the terpene found in Lavender.

The total terpene content is low, so the flavor is more subtle with this cart than other cannabis vapes; hence the flavor is a little underwhelming in my opinion.  However, this would be a great option for times that you need to be discrete, and not leave a room smelling like a skunk just died in it, just from your live resin or live rosin SHO vape cart.

High-quality cartridge hardware, specifically designed for Cannabis oils

The vape pen hardware is made by Jupiter CCELL, and they are the gold standard.  These CCELL cartridges contain a CCELL Ceramic Core and are made from non-toxic, inert, lead-free materials, including durable, borosilicate glass.

Cake Vape Carts : Are They All Fake?

0

Here at Dab Connection, we try to leave no stone unturned when it comes to investigating cannabis product brands, in the interest of informing the public. However, sometimes the more we investigate, the more questions that turn up. We’re going to tell you everything we know about Cake vapes and let you readers decide the verdict. Right now, this investigation is anything but a cakewalk.

We know there are fake Cake vapes out there

Most readers will want to know: can I trust Cake vapes? And we’ll have to answer that question with: Not always! We see plenty of counterfeit Cake cartridge packaging for sale at the usual suspects, DHGate, CartsPackaging, and Made-in-China.

Cake-DHGate

Cake-cartsPackaging

Cake-made-in-China

So that much is clear. That is incontrovertible evidence that there are fake Cake carts hitting the streets. We’re still fuzzy on the nature of any actual company behind this brand, but we can conclude with 100% certainty that it is at least frequently counterfeited. This means that you should not trust Cake brand carts from a plug, or from sketchy retail offerings such as gas stations and vape shops in unlicensed states.

Cake-Reddit-inquiries

In addition, we see that Cake cartridges have aroused plenty of suspicion when they find their way into the public’s hands. On our /fakecarts forum on Reddit, questions come in about this brand all the time. And of course, we find no end of sketchy third-party websites hawking Cake vapes.

Here’s a rare occurrence: Another cannabis site has also called Cake a risky brand. DailyCBD ranks Cake as a likely “scam company,” saying:

> “While it’s possible some Cake products are legit, there are too many fake products on the market for this to be considered a safe brand to buy. You can essentially roll the dice on what’s going to be inside these carts.”

They did some legwork and found no actual company website, and all the usual markers of a ghost company. HOWEVER, stay tuned because this story has more twists than a season of Twilight Zone.

Somebody sent us Cake carts to review!

Thanks to our policy of never accepting affiliates or paid promotions, many cannabis product companies are eager for a good review from Dab Connection. They know that when we review a product, we assure the public an unbiased, consumer-focused opinion. However, given our record of busting fake vape carts (and being the first site on the Internet to do so), it’s a mystery why anyone would intentionally send us boof carts to review.

Yet our reviewer received boof in Cake disposables! They reported mouth, throat, and lung irritation, virtually no effects, and all the signs that we’d gotten a severely cut cartridge. This has never happened before. Boof cart brand vendors usually avoid our attention.

We have of course tried to reach back out to our mystery contact only to see them vanish, no reply back yet. In the meantime, we still find no official company website beyond a blank parking page for a slew of fake lab tests. When we see “R&D testing” and “Encore Labs,” we know to read no further. Also, all these tests appear to be for gummy edibles, but we found this page starting from a vape cartridge.

And yet clearly there is somebody with a vested interest in this brand, because it shows a lot of legal activity.

Cake sues everybody

As pointed out by our reviewer, there have been multiple lawsuits regarding this Cake brand – pressed by the brand against others. No less than Law360 reported that this Cake company had sued other California distributors claiming copyright infringement and rip-off brands. The company making Cake is officially identified by Law360 as “AK Futures LLC.” Over time, we’ve found this brand suing four other companies:

* Limitless Trading Co. LLC

* Green Buddha LLC

* Smoke Tokes LLC

* Boyd Street Distro LLC

Here is an example of the docket history of one of these suits, against Smoke Tokes. We also find a ruling (PDF link) resolving the Green Buddha case as a default – nobody showed.

The legal trail doesn’t end there. There was also a lawsuit against one of the company’s own founders, Peter Amato, claiming – to loosely summarize – conduct unbecoming a founding partner.

While cake boxes are sometimes labeled “Orange, CA,” (maybe county or city?) we find AK Futures to be listed as a Santa Ana, California, company. Their listing in Corporate Wiki doesn’t give us much to go on beyond confirming they exist.

Then there’s the trademark filings. AK Futures LLC has filed a series of trademark applications with the USPTO. The trademarks include several variations on the cake logo, a “Caviar” logo which others have noted also seems to be associated with part of the Cake brand, and a stylized “C” over a layered cake silhouette. As others have pointed out (and we’d have to be blind to miss), the Cake logo font and the capital “C” resemble the Cookies brand enough that Cookies could probably sue for trademark infringement.

Furthermore, at least one of the trademark filings for the “Cake” logo by AK Futures LLC is filed in the category of clothing products. We have been seeing this tired old gimmick for years; a black market vape cart brand will have a website selling hoodies and hats, with no carts in sight, even though nothing but black market carts make it out to the street while conspicuously nobody is buying branded hoodies.

Is the Cake a lie?

What the crackers is going on? All the legal activity we tracked down above happened in 2021, so this seems to be a new brand getting established. Yet we find no legit distributors of Cake vapes. This brand was seemingly copied and spread all across the black market before the legit brand could reach dispensary shelves.

Here is a video review from February of 2021, and the hosts claim they see these carts “everywhere,” so we see they were likely hitting the streets before all the trademarks were filed.

Yet USPTO filings cost money. Attorneys to file lawsuits also cost money. Registering an LLC costs money. The papers didn’t all jump off a desk and file themselves. So who is this brand, where is this company, where is all this coming from? Casper the Friendly Ghost?

Without all the paperwork, we would suppose that this was simply a case of the usual black market packagers in China cooking up a brand out of thin air like always. With the paperwork, perhaps this is a new tactic by black market packagers to make their brand seem legit. Or maybe we have another case like Muha Meds and Big Chief, long-standing black market brands which tried to go legit only to find that their period of non-licensed operation allowed counterfeits to get out of hand.

Readers, we leave the mystery in your lap. Report any findings of Cake carts or any sign of a legit owner here in the comments or in our forum.

Ohio Clean Leaf Twistspenser Review – Decent and Convenient

ohio clean leaf twistspenser review

Today we will take a look at Ohio Clean Leaf, a brand that specializes in medical cannabis products. To be more precise we will try their Twistspenser Concentrate.

I would recommend anyone who likes Cannabis concentrates to try this Sauce and distillate Twistspenser.  It is convenient to use, and the terpene and cannabinoid content is listed, and the numbers are impressive!  The description on the package says “Terpene-rich cannabis extract intended for vaporization.”  The top terpenes listed are b-Caryophyllene: 24.3 mg/g, d-Limonene: 21.0 mg/g, Linalool: 15.5 mg/g, and a-Humulene: 7.68 mg/g and I really enjoy the flavor and effects.

Pros:

  • Convenient dispenser
  • Ohio Clean Leaf is a highly regarded cultivator
  • The terpene content is listed
  • State maximum allowed THC percentage (70%)
  • The THC has been decarboxylated, so you could use this as an edible
  • Decent price

Cons:

  • Some of the oil leaked out around the included blunt-tip syringe

Recommendations: Better quality of the tip syringe

OCL Diamond Science Sauce and Distillate Twistspenser – Lemon Royal strain (Hybrid)

I chose this strain because they only had two options, and I have read good things about this strain of flower.  I noticed these on the menu and had wanted to try them for a while.  In the past, I have tried a few oil syringes and RSO and FECO, and I do like them, but they are a bit messy.  I think the threaded mechanism on this device does make it easier to dispense a small amount of the oil.  It’s much easier than the RSO that I had, where you had to warm up the oil just to be able to dispense it at all.

I have really been enjoying the flavor of this strain too.  I am not the biggest fan of lemon flavor in concentrates, at least not a lot of it.  For example, I had some Cresco MAC1 live sauce and some Pineapple Express live budder, and I didn’t enjoy the strong lemon flavor.  I was worried that would be the case with this Lemon Royal too, but I haven’t found that to be true.  It seems like the Linalool and other terpenes help to compliment the lemon.

The Entourage Effect

I think the Entourage Effect is a factor here since the terpene content is so high.  I know that when I first got my medical card here, I was not happy about the 70% maximum THC limit for concentrates and vapes, but since I learned about the Entourage Effect, I definitely appreciate our options more.  Also, I have learned that even in states that have no rules about THC limits, things like live resin and live rosin carts and concentrates usually have about the same THC percentage as we have here and that the more important aspect is the combination of all of the cannabinoids and terpenes.

I’m not sure if this counts as “Full Spectrum” or not, but I noticed that under ingredients, it says “Single Pass Distillate, Subcritical Sauce, In-House Cannabis Terpenes, CBC, CBG, CBN, NO BOTANICAL TERPENES OR CBD ADDED”, so that’s interesting.  I haven’t tried any “Subcritical Sauce” before, so that’s a new one for me.

Ohio clean leaf twistspenser close up

Who would enjoy this?

I think anyone who enjoys cannabis would love this sauce and distillate dispenser.  The flavor is great, and so are the effects!  I really like how easy it is to dispense a dab too.  I think this one is a “good any time” strain and should help people with pain and anxiety.  So far, this is the only strain of OCL that I’ve tried, but I’ve heard that their flower is amazing.  I have been more into concentrates and vape carts for about the last year now, but I have been meaning to try some Ohio Clean Leaf flower, so I might do that soon.

Ohio clean leaf twistspenser unit

Amazing flavor and effects!

I really like the flavor of this concentrate!  I’m not very good at describing flavors and scents, but this definitely has a nice, sweet undertone, and of course that gas.   Since the terpene content is listed, I can see that the main terpenes are Limonene with its citrus flavor and smell, and  Caryophyllene is the compound found in black pepper, basil, and oregano, with a funky warmth similar to cinnamon and cloves.  I also know that Linalool is the terpene found in lavender.

ohio clean leaf twistspenser instructions

Similar Cannabis products for comparison:

There are so many brands of concentrates out there!  As far as specifically a dispenser that has a sauce mixed with distillate, I’m not sure if there are other options.  I’ve been getting the Cresco 1.7 gram live concentrates lately, and really enjoying those.  I’ve been meaning to try these Ancient Roots live rosin Dablicator dispensers too, but I haven’t seen them in stock at the dispensaries around me lately.  I have really been enjoying these sales at the dispensaries lately too.

ohio clean leaf twistspenser label details

Concluding this review

I really enjoyed this Ohio Clean Leaf Diamond Science sauce and distillate Twistspenser concentrate.  The dispenser is much easier to use than a standard syringe, and I have been enjoying the flavor and effects.  You could probably even put the concentrate into a vape cart if you wanted to do so.  It’s pretty cool! Cake Disposable Delta 10 Vape Review – Bad Effects and Flavor

0
cake delta10 review

Got our first look today at some Delta 10 disposable vapes by Cake (Cake Distro) out of Orange, California. Thanks to my friend and fellow head, Ben Chu by way of Dab Connection. Much appreciated! Thank you both!!!

Pros:

  • The battery component appears rechargeable via a micro USB (not included).
  • The mouthpiece is very comfortable, doesn’t seem to get sticky with use or leak/spit oil out of it.
  • Packaging is easy to read and as a bonus appears recyclable. Which is good for the environment! Too many Cannabis brands rely on bulky plastic packaging.

Cons:

  • Horrible flavor. Not as bad as the old-school cotton wick carts that tasted burnt.
  • Mouth, throat, lung irritation.
  • Cake, at the very least, didn’t pay for anything other than Cannabinoid analysis or doesn’t care if their end product is clean. At worst, the COAs are fake. Even IF regulations don’t require it for Delta8/10 products, consumers deserve that peace of mind.
  • Little to no effect whatsoever.

Recommendations: Be careful with these carts- The oil in them is a mystery.

cake delta 10 carts

First impressions are VERY mixed

I’ll be frank, my first impressions are very mixed. The large stylized C reminds me a lot of the brand Cookies, as well as the Vitamin E cut carts that were landing people in the hospital circa 2019.

Packaging consists of a no-frills paper/cardboard box. A holo/foil ‘sticker of authenticity/QR’ acts as a seal for the top of the box. Scanning this brings up the Cake page with some numbers and a button to check authenticity. No COA for any products can be found on this page except edibles. Holes, where round, plastic childproof measures would normally be, are replaced with flimsy tabs that don’t even hold the item in or fit into the round holes in the other box. Once the tamper seal is removed, a slight press-up on the bottom of the inner box easily defeats whatever childproofing the tabs supposedly offer.

cake delta 10 qr code

Red flags all over

The COA or ‘Certificate of Analysis’ is a printed on QR code. Which if you know anything about Cannabis products, is a HUGE red flag. Unless the company is printing packaging for each strain batch after COA results. Otherwise, as they say, the cake is a lie….

Upon scanning the QR code it downloads a PDF file with a COA from Accurate Labs, based out of Florida. No tests for heavy metals or any contamination are listed, only Cannabinoids. Another red flag in my book. Anything that I put into my body that is cannabis-derived I want to check for pesticides, residual solvents, heavy metals, and other contamination.

Given the fact that Delta 8/10 is usually synthesized vs being extracted from plant mass, due to their low naturally occurring amounts; a lack of testing for residual contamination is very worrying, if not a place to pause and say, should I be using this product?

cake delta 10 unit

The ol’ college try

Seeing as the brand is supposedly legitimate, we are gonna give it the ol’ college try.

This is a Delta 10 product that contains some Delta 8, CBD, and CBN with trace amounts of Delta 9 (<0.3%) per the packaging (in compliance with Section 10113 of the 2018 Farm Bill). It is flavored with non-Cannabis-derived terpenes using either botanical or synthetic instead.

We sampled the Birthday Cake (Indica), Gorilla Glue (Hybrid), and Super Sour Diesel (Sativa).

Each looks pretty much the same color, and consistency; your typical clear, thick Delta 8/10 distillate. All 3 had a similarly sickly sweet start to the hit/smell followed by a more ‘ strain-specific flavoring. In short, they all taste like pure vape juice, but less glycerin-sweet with their own twists.

Birthday Cake

Almost immediately after inhale I noted a very unpleasant tingling on my mid tongue, the roof of the mouth, and the back of the throat. I vaped off and on for about 15 minutes. Very astringent, harsh back of the throat resulting in coughing fits and a sensation of irritation in my lungs. At the end of the 15 minutes, I noticed my nose was running a lot, I was sweating as I’d just run a mile in the heat, and I had a headache building.

So we put this one down to maybe it being the botanical/synthetic terps not agreeing with me. The flavor is very sweet, some vanilla or something trying to mimic it initially, but that morphs as you inhale and exhale. It takes on a spicy, unpleasantness. Like Chloraseptic throat spray. Didn’t feel anything but my lungs burning and the throbbing headache. Not even a tickle of a head change, or any discernible body effects.

A few hours later after my headache went away….

a few moments later

Onto the Gorilla Glue

Citrus, pine, and that same soapy, Chloraseptic, chemical flavor. It tastes wrong. Not as harsh on the tongue or throat, but still made my lungs burn with the fury of 1000 Suns after a 10-15 minute session. No discernible effect is other than that.

As of finishing this review, I tried the Super Sour Diesel because I figure I might as well try all three types….

cake delta 10 front box

Super Sour Diesel

It tasted absolutely horrible. Like burnt, sweet rubber and citrus. No Bueno. Tried it out of my dab piece to see if the water filtration would help (fits a 14mm just right), but alas I only ended up choking from the larger hit. No effects to be felt here really.

Concluding this review

Conclusion – you’d be better off researching wholesale Delta 8/10 sellers online, buying that and mixing in your own terpenes and dabbing that, or making your own carts given the choice vs hitting these Cake branded disposables.

Researching further into the brand brings up multiple lawsuits, other red flags. One suit based out of California;

(Behind a paywall so here’s a copy/paste of the article on Reddit), and Delaware. Allegations of IP theft, back-alley dealings, wholesale counterfeit operations

When digging a little deeper I find that their address doesn’t seem to house their business. That coupled with less than thorough COAs leads me to label these as a hard pass.

Due to the effects on my person and the suspect nature of the brand due to empty packaging, carts, batteries, other branded items found readily on many websites, I cannot in good conscience recommend these.

EDITOR’S ADDENDUM:

Pete here!

First, I’d ask that you readers all join me in welcoming Bob to our cannabis product review pool, with this knock-out entry!

Second, we are indeed researching the odd story of this brand behind the scenes. Sure enough, Cake vape copycats abound on DHGate and the usual suspects. On the other hand, somebody is going around filing lawsuits about this brand, and that indicates there could be an original owner. We’re reaching out to them through every channel we have and will follow up this post when we have the whole story.

Readers, if you have any clues to toss us, we’re all ears here in the comments or in our kush forum.

best dispensaries las vegas

A couple of months ago our editor Pete compiled this great article Nevada Dispensaries: A Video Tour. Today we are gonna talk about the best dispensaries in Las Vegas, Nevada. This list is solely based on our experiences. I haven’t been to every single dispensary but we have been to a lot of them. I also searched out the deals to see what dispensaries have the best deals. We heard that Acres Cannabis has good deals, but we still haven’t visited that dispensary.

Oasis Cannabis Dispensary

Founded in 2015. They have good customer service and are open 24/7. Carts sometimes cost just over $20. They have great sales and promos. If you go to dankoil.com you can see what their latest deals are. You can also find more info about them on their website.

Planet 13 Dispensary

Planet 13 Dispensary is another store with great deals. Their retail outlet near the Las Vegas Strip is the largest cannabis dispensary in the world measured by square footage at 40,000. This is one of those stores where you walk in and if the prices are standard they can be pretty expensive but if you check their deals you can find some great stuff for low prices. Sometimes you get free merch when you buy something in the store like socks or t-shirts.  You can see their latest deals here.

The Dispensary

The Dispensary has stores in Las Vegas, Reno, and Henderson. They offer a wide selection of quality cannabis products–including flower, vapes, edibles, topicals, and concentrates. This is probably the store I go to the most. Their house brands are really good. They have a lot of deals. Their text deals are awesome.

Fake Cookies Vape Batteries : Beware!

0
fake-cookies-batteries

If DabConnection has established itself in no other regard, it has made a name for itself in reporting on the fake vape cartridge epidemic. We have investigated dozens upon dozens of these bogus brands and it seems we haven’t scratched the surface.

On top of that, we have also uncovered the phenomenon of fake vape cart websites. These sites advertise brands both real and fake indiscriminately, but they will all insist on payment in cryptocurrency or other shady, non-refundable tender, and then rip you off by shipping nothing.

So what about batteries? Are there fakes of those? Well of course there are!

store-map-Cookies

The Only Official Cookies Website is Cookies.CO

Cookies seems to be one of the brands that is permanently cursed with counterfeit ripoffs. For the longest time, we could barely find the original company behind all the knock-offs. But we did eventually discover that there is an original company. The website is Cookies.co, and this is the official Cookies Twitter, and here is the official Cookies Facebook, and there is even an official Cookies LinkedIn.

The Cookies brand is named after the cannabis strain Girl Scout Cookies. It was founded by hip hop artist Berner and a cannabis cultivator who goes by the name “Jigga.” They were founded in California, but as the store locator map on their site shows, they’ve expanded across the US in the legalized states and have even dropped anchor in Tel Aviv, of all places. Note that Lemonnade is a subsidiary brand, and Cookies partners with G Pen (Grenco Science) for their hardware.

Cookies does not release their products to third-party retailers. The only way to ensure that a Cookies cannabis product is real is to buy it from a Cookies dispensary. Likewise, G Pen is the retail site for Cookies-branded hardware, including batteries.

So you can guarantee that if you bought anything with the Cookies logo on it at a gas station, convenience store, underground sesh, or corner plug, then it is boof.

websites-fake-cookies

The Case of the Counterfeit Cookies

First off, a quick domain search turns up over 1000 domains with “cookies” in the name, at least some of them trying to imitate the Cookies cannabis brand. Then if you go searching for something like “buy Cookies battery,” you will again find countless knock-offs. These seem to be divided between scam sites, legit sites with questionable retailers, and wholesale suppliers to street plugs.

CookiesOfficial-dot-com is a fake site.

fake-cookiesofficial-site

MarketPlaceVape-dot-com seems to be another bunk offering.

fake-marketplacevape-site

Gypsy Vapes appears to be a legit site with many legit offerings, and then they throw this at us.

fake-GypsyVapes-site

And of course, no DabConnection fake product write-up is complete without a visit to DHGate:

fake-DHGate-site

Then we have the legion of fake cart packaging and hardware suppliers. Your present author doesn’t remember seeing “Global Sources” before, off the top, so we might have to add that one to the list. Interesting that the title uses the typical spammer trick of cramming other brand names in, just indiscriminately trying to get a search hit for “Backwoods,” another famously faked brand.

fake-globalsources-site

And of course, our old favorite “Made in China” site has Cookies hardware.

fake-madeinchina-site

We could go on with these all year.

Users Report Fake Cookies Gear From All Over

We have our usual Reddit reports:

And we have the incident which prompted this post, one of our operatives in Utah, of all places, spotted Cookies-branded batteries for sale at a gas station. If Utah counts as a viable vape market, we can assume that fake Cookies hardware can be found across the continental US at this point.

What would be the danger of counterfeit hardware? For starters, vapes can explode (warning: graphic photos). This vape took out a 17-year-old’s face. This vape exploded and killed a Texas man by slicing his artery. This vape exploded, leaving its Florida user dead with a torn-up face and burns to the body. Both of those last two cases were confirmed to involve home-hacked modifications to the hardware.

These are just a few of the vape and e-cigarette explosions that happen every year. About two thousand reported between 2015-2017 there. We’re pretty sure, just as with the vaping-lung epidemic, that black market hardware could play a part in at least some of these incidents.

Readers, you know the drill! Continue vigilantly spotting fakes and reporting them, and let’s all keep the vape community mutually safe! Drop us a line here in the comments or in our forum.

Spensary Delta-8 Cartridge Review – Top-notch Quality

spensary thcv review

For our latest experiment in delta 8 cartridges, we will sample Spensary, a wellness brand that specializes in hemp-derived products. Spensary currently offers a wide selection of edibles, tinctures, and cartridges that contain their proprietary combinations of unique cannabinoids. Spensary sent us one of their latest hemp-derived THCV cartridges which also include Delta-8 THC, CBD, CBG, and CBN. The main benefit for these cartridges is the combination of THCV and Delta-8 among other cannabinoids. More information can be found about their process here. For this review, I will check out their THCV/Delta-8 cartridge.

Pros:

  • Solid ceramic hardware
  • Excellent quality
  • Less harsh than others
  • Better potency/effects than others
  • Smooth airflow
  • Great flavor
  • Fair price

Cons:

  • None

Recommendations: None

spensary thcv front

The oil in this cartridge is lighter in color yet thicker in viscosity than most distillates

The strain that I received for this review was Northern Lights, which is known for being a strong couch-lock Indica that crosses Afghani with Thai landrace strains. Despite the simple and unassuming packaging, the cartridge itself is made out of ceramic, which allows for better airflow. However, despite the ceramic hardware, there was some leakage at the base of the cartridge as well as some airflow issues towards the second half of this cartridge. The oil in this cartridge is lighter in color yet thicker in viscosity than most distillates, such as Fun Uncle, Dime Bag, and Woodstock Heritage Strains. Even after a few weeks, there isn’t any huge noticeable change in oil color. In addition, the vapor production of this ceramic cartridge is very smooth and impressive.

spensary thcv close up

This Delta-8/THCV cartridge felt smoother than Pally Delta-10 cartridges and Delta Munchies Delta-8 darts, particularly the Strawberry Haze

The taste of this cartridge is floral, earthy, and spicy. The mildly euphoric effects felt calming and relaxing like a true Indica yet still focused, clear-headed and productive. This Northern Lights cartridge from Spensary felt smoother than Pally Delta-10 cartridges and Delta Munchies Delta-8 darts, particularly the Strawberry Haze. A few hits of this cartridge go a long way; however, I felt a heavy cerebral pressure between my eyes with too much consecutive use. On a personal level, it helped suppress my appetite, stabilize my blood sugar levels, and treat my peripheral neuropathy. Additionally, it also calms my anxiety, lifts off any depression, and eases my muscle tension.

spensary thcv back

This cartridge also felt slightly tastier and more potent than the Pally Delta-10 live resin cartridge, which felt harsher

The retail price of the THCV/Delta-8 cartridges from Spensary is $39.95 for a full gram, plus shipping. Although some of the Delta Munchies darts were tastier such as their Melon Dreams, this cartridge strikes the right balance of flavor, smoothness, and potency. At the same time, I also recently tried Pally Delta-10 live resin cartridges, which felt a bit harsher on the throat. This cartridge also felt slightly tastier and more potent than the Pally Delta-10 live resin cartridge. Although there is a QR code on the back of the package, it simply redirects to their official website. For the best results, a low-temp battery or lower temperature setting between 2.0v and 3.0v is highly recommended.

spensary thcv lab tests
Spensary thcv lab tests

Overall, Spensary Delta-8/THCV cartridges are easily one of the best Delta-8 products out there

In closing, Spensary Delta-8 cartridges are recommended for their excellent oil quality, moderate euphoria, and great flavor at a fair price. For my money, this Northern Lights cartridge is easily one of the best Delta-8 products out there. Compared to Pally Delta-10 and Delta Munchies Delta-8, this Delta-8/THC-V cartridge is much tastier, less harsh, and possesses better medicinal effects. This Northern Lights is easily the most euphoric Delta-8 cartridge that I’ve tried so far, which felt similar to Stiiizy Silver Cannabis Derived Terpenes pods. You can find all Spensary products, including this and other Delta-8, Delta-9, THCP, THCV, CBG, and CBN products through their official website.

FukedUp Vape Carts Review – Good Effects

Today we will try out some vape carts from FukedUp. They offer various Delta 8, Delta 10, HHC, and THC-O products.

Pros:

  • Good flavor, convenient, and easy to use
  • I like how they have well known Cannabis strain names
  • Effects seem good
  • Official CCELL hardware

Cons

  • Terpene content is not given
  • I wish the HHC was a full gram, like the other two

Recommendations: These new THC vape carts have been helping me conserve my medical marijuana products, and also I like how they are better for use during the daytime.  So far, these HHC and Delta 10 carts have seemed pretty good too.  I probably have enjoyed the HHC cart the most.

fukedup-hhc-cart-603x600

Who would enjoy this? I think anyone

I think anyone who enjoys cannabis would like these FukedUp.com vape carts.  Especially those who aren’t fortunate enough to have medical or recreational marijuana where they live.  Counterfeit vape carts have been a serious problem for years.  In my opinion, any tested product such as these vape carts is a superior option to unregulated, black market products bought from the street.  Years ago, I bought all kinds of illegal street carts that oftentimes didn’t give me any kind of effect.  I hated the inconsistency, but in retrospect, I am so grateful that I didn’t lose a lung or something.

Interesting stuff I have not tried before

I got three different strains of FukedUp.com vape carts to review.  They stick with the tried and true labeling of Sativa, Hybrid, or Indica, and they offer a few different THC choices.

HHC

The first cart I will review is the HHC or Hexahydrocannabinol.  The Wikipedia page says this is a semi-synthetic cannabinoid derivative that resulted from early modifications to the structure of THC, in a search for the simplest compound that could still fulfill the binding requirements to produce cannabis-like activity.”  The strain that I got is Cherry Kush.  I have been pretty blown away by how much this cart tastes like real Cannabis!  This one is only a half gram, but it’s my favorite out of the three carts I got to try.  The effects seem to be the most noticeable out of these three.  This one is a hybrid, and the packaging looks nice.

fukedup-delta10-cart-631x600

DELTA 10 THC

The next vape cart I will mention is the Delta 10 THC, one-gram vape cart.  I found a Leafly article that talks about delta 10 THC, and it says “Delta-10 can get you high, although it is much less potent than regular delta-9 THC. Anecdotally, delta-10 is commonly reported to provide energizing effects, whereas delta-8 is reported to be more sedating.”  The Delta 10 THC cart I got is an Indica, which I prefer, and is the strain Grape Ape.  I really like the sweet, but skunky flavor in this cart.  The effects seem pretty good too.

THC-O

Lastly, I got a one gram THC-O, or THC-O-Acetate.  Leafly says about THC-O, that “Research has found that it’s roughly three times stronger than conventional THC. It has been called “the psychedelic cannabinoid” for its borderline hallucinatory effects. Because it’s derived from federally legal hemp, THC-O products are becoming increasingly popular in the states where consumers don’t have access to legal, state-licensed delta-9 THC products.”  I got the one-gram Zkittles strain, Indica vape cart.  The flavor is nice and sweet.  I think these have been the closest to dispensary carts that I’ve tried so far.

fukedup-thc-o-603x600

High-quality cartridge hardware

I love how they went with official CCELL brand vape cart hardware.  That is one of my favorites.

Similar Cannabis products for comparison:

They have all kinds of new THC products now, and I’m just learning about them.

fukedup-labels-scaled

Concluding this review

I am glad that I tried these various vape carts.  I was skeptical at first, that these different kinds of THC wouldn’t really have any effects.  I don’t think that anymore, and I like these so far.  I had no idea until recently that there are so many new products like this, and that they sell them EVERYWHERE.  It’s pretty cool.  Hopefully, soon enough they will just legalize all of these Cannabis products.

Everything Wrong With the Vape Cartridge Black Market in One Stupid Picture

0

Gold Cost Clear is a THC vape cartridge “brand” which we originally covered in March 2020. They are one of dozens of unlicensed, unregulated, sourceless cannabis concentrate cart “brands” which we point out are printed in China, shipped to US buyers empty, and filled with whatever mystery oil in somebody’s basement.

We get HELLA backlash from street cart vendors when we point out that they function without licensing and regulation. Sometimes they even write us emails threatening legal action or just threatening in general. Hey, it comes with the job. Pissing off Internet Tough-Guys has been my mainstay for this entire fifth of a century and beyond.

Reading yet another butt-hurt retort from a boof plug, I seldom have a visual to fill in my picture of what such a person looks like. But then THIS happens…

These 2 Idiots Claim Responsibility For Gold Coast Clear

The complete video is posted on Reddit. Do not miss that thread; it is the fake cart thread of the century! I’ll call them “Jay and Not-Silent Bob.”

So their point is this rebuttal to the “haters,” (people like me mad about 64 deaths and thousands hospitalized from VAPI, some as young as 15). While Jay tries to hit their own cart without coughing up visible blood, Not-Silent Bob tries to reassure us that even though fakes of their brand are known to be out there, what they produce is pure gas! And that’s it, just a plug for their, ah, product, which I’m guessing is brewed up in the bathtub right behind the roach cabinets.

Jules-Winnfield-retort

I keep watching this clip, but my brain just will not take it in. These two wanna-be dealers, standing in their welfare-ass motel kitchen in their thift-store rags, too stupid to know how hats work, too inept to know to retake a video if your partner is choking so loud that it drowns out your pitch, and THAT is the industry standard for the vape cartridge business?

I see from the comments on that Reddit thread that I am not the only person who sees something wrong with this picture.

Look, I have nothing against small businesses, entrepreneurs, and cottage-industry artisans plugging their wares from their garage workshops. But anything you heat up and inhale into your lungs is a health matter. Would you buy a gallon of milk from this set-up? Would you accept a vaccine from these people? Because God help you, I wouldn’t trust these two morons to walk a dog.

When Your “Brand” Is On DHGate – You’re Out of Business!

Let’s reiterate: Merely typing “Gold Coast” + “cart” into Google images brings you this gallery of “dealers” for Gold Coast Clear. Dozens of fake cart vendor sites, doubtless some of them rip-off scams as well. You may well say “well sorry there’s fakes,” but that doesn’t do any good! You either lawyer up and do something to control the counterfeiting of your brand, or you give it up and go start a new brand.

Here’s the screen when we type “Gold Coast Clear” + “empty”:

Gold-Coast-Clear-empty-packaging

DHGate, Alibaba, and several more of the usual suspects. The only exception? Our site! We’re the only one pointing out Gold Coast Clear is boof, the way we do a hundred other brands.

Gold-Coast-Clear-empty-packaging

Recall this story from somebody reporting their brother now institutionalized from synthetic cannabinoids in a Gold Coast Clear cart. Jay and Not-Silent Bob: This is on YOUR heads! When you make a product and that product blows up on the black market and starts hurting people, if you can’t control the black market and defend your brand, then the onus is on you to close shop! You can start up a new brand, having damn well learned your lesson. People who vape boof with your logo on it can’t get new lungs.

Gold-Coast-Clear-fake

By staying in business, even if you get licensed, you are lending legitimacy to every street plug in the world who can buy your packaging off the Internet for a penny and fill it with vitamin E acetate. You are making it harder for consumers to make an informed safe choice. It is TOO LATE to clear Gold Coast Clear, its reputation is permanently burned.

Regulation Exists For REASONS

Some people might read us raving about licenses and think we’re pro-bureaucrats for big, intrusive government. We’re not, but we are pro-safety, and even though nobody likes staggering government bureaucracies, they’re still the best way we have found to regulate products for public safety.

People complain about the hassle of getting a license and lab-testing product. But let’s not forget, before there was product safety regulation, we had…

    • lead-based paint on toys and in houses making people brain-damaged
    • unsafe cribs that were causing infant deaths
    • unsafe cars that were killing people in traffic accidents
    • products with dangerous chemicals going out to households without warnings
    • foods contaminated with insects, rats, and bacteria

It’s funny, everybody complains about big government until they find a dead rat in their lunch. After that, boy howdy, all of a sudden they could go for some government oversight!

I’m tired of getting called a “hater” by some meatball in a baseball cap who doesn’t care who gets hurt or killed. So, uh, allow us to occasionally retort. As may you, in the comments or on our forum.

Challenges for the Vape Industry in the Coming Years

0
vapers

Nowadays, we can safely state that vaping has become the next big thing. With more and more people interested in it, it seems like the vape industry might even overshadow the tobacco one. And it can happen sooner than we all expect.

Nevertheless, even though the number of online vape shops like vapekit.co.uk constantly rises, this industry is yet to face its biggest challenges. Firstly, not all people see vaping as a healthier alternative to tobacco smoking. Next, vaping products are becoming frequently banned in public places — much like their tobacco counterparts. Finally, the advertising of vape products and smoking accessories is not the easiest undertaking.

To correctly estimate how much the vape industry can grow in the coming years, we need to take a closer look at these challenges and determine what effect they will have on the whole vaping community. Here are the biggest challenges the vape market needs to address.

E-Cig-and-Vaping-Tracking-Poll_1

Public Opinion

The first and the most critical factor that we need to consider is public opinion. How people perceive vaping and those who vape is the best indicator of how popular vaping can become. Right now, the public opinion on vaping seems to be split in half.

One group of people is very open to the idea of vaping products becoming a substitute for traditional tobacco products, such as cigarettes and cigars. Among them, we can even find government officials and other prominent public figures. For example, Martin Dockrell, a Tobacco Control Programme Lead for Public Health England, states that we should be encouraging smokers to switch from cigarettes to e-cigarettes.

On the other hand, others claim that the promotion of vaping products is as harmful as the promotion of tobacco smoking. These people usually are against the practice of smoking and would like to see it banned altogether.

While not all people are convinced that vaping can be a healthy alternative to regular smoking, the vape industry still has some work to do in this regard. One of the ways they can improve the public opinion of vaping products is through smart advertising.

vaping_advertisement

Advertising

Although many countries banned the promotion of traditional smoking products like cigarettes, they allow some forms of advertising for e-cigarettes and other vaping products. It seems like an understandable decision, given that the harmful effects of vaping are far from the detrimental effects of smoking, which is responsible for nearly eight million deaths a year worldwide.

With that being said, depending on where the vape companies want to promote their products, they might stumble upon multiple drawbacks. For instance, most countries forbid the promotion of vaping products that contain nicotine in the most popular forms of media. This includes television, newspapers, and even the internet.

Essentially, what most vape marketers have left is the practice of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), clever use of social media, and organizing vaping events and exhibitions. It is not much, but it seems to get the job done (at least now).

vaping-regulation

New Regulations

With vaping businesses being banned from many forms of advertising, one can only wonder what other regulations could negatively affect the vape market in the future. It is a point of concern both for the companies and the customers.

The European Union’s TPD (tobacco product directive) is the crucial set of rules regarding the legality of vaping products in the EU. Its goal is to set necessary boundaries and improve the quality of the products. But, no one knows if the European Union will put some other solutions in place to regulate the market further.

Interestingly, in the United States, some people put forth the idea to ban selling vaping products at the federal level. They argue that it is a natural consequence of creating similar regulations in states and cities. For instance, in 2019, San Francisco became the first US city to ban e-cigarettes. Nowadays, indoor vaping is state-wide prohibited in California, Colorado, New Jersey, Maine, New York, Utah, and many more.

More bans on the sale of vaping products could take some money out of the pockets of manufacturers and lead to the creation of a black market. This, in turn, might fill the market with untested, low-quality products, harming the industry’s reputation as a whole.

nuclear-vape-lounge-Las-Vegas

Final Thoughts

The vape industry has a set of roadblocks to consider. New entrepreneurs who wish to invest in the vape market must be aware of the dangers of this move. They have to keep a careful watch of public opinion, face advertising challenges, and constantly monitor new regulations.

The combination of all of these factors makes the vape industry a high-risk, high-reward environment. Nonetheless, with the tobacco industry being on its way out, putting some money into it might be the best move. Soon enough, we may be able to discover if it is the case.
