Hometown Hero Magical Muscaria Gummies | Promising Effects

Hometown-Hero-Magical-Muscaria-Gummies

Greetings, my beautiful cosmic blueberries and fellow astronauts aboard Spaceship Earth! I come with blogilicious salutations of a newly created range of enlightenment. Insert several more sentences of new-agey wellness molecule-terpene babble. To get to the point, I report back from my latest voyage into cosmic harmony, trying to discover a legal mushroom edible that clocks any noticeable effect. The newly burgeoning psychedelics market is riding the coattails of the cannabis industry, you see, and so far the results for these new mushroom gummies coming out have been, well, less than trippy.

But then Hometown Hero came out with a blend, Magical Muscaria Gummies $24.99. They combine Amanita Muscaria mushroom, Lion’s Mane mushroom, something called “holy basil,” and a decent shot of CBD. Sounds like quite the ambitious cocktail there, barkeep, but if the house is buyin’ then I’m a-drinkin’. Hometown Hero has garnered many a rave review here at Dab Connection; they do not skimp on potency. So if anybody can buy me a ticket to the magical mystery trip, I’m counting on them to not leave me stranded.

Pros:

  • Noticeable effects!
  • Decent potency
  • Potential nootropic
  • Fresh and tasty

Cons:

  • No party potential
  • Sensitive stomachs may object
  • Basil what now?

Recommendations: More muscimol, please? You’re on the right track, just add more steam.

HH-MM-gummies-directions

Test #1: Eating Entire Bag At Once

As I promised at the end of my Munchies’ Week video series, I tried the gummies the Penguin Pete way: Doing some math and figuring, if last time I tried Amanita gummies I did 2100mg at once and felt nothing, and these come four to a bag at 500mg /pc., then the whole bag is still less than the amount of Amanita Muscaria I have previously dosed at once multiple times with no consequence. Had all four first thing in the morning with coffee, even before breakfast.

I lay this out to say: Of course, you readers should adjust the dosage to your own circumstances. I know my tolerance and (I never get tired of saying it, because this part is so cool) I’m a professional drug tester.

Anyway, the directions on the Magical Muscaria Gummies is one time where the manufacturer loosens up on the recommendation. Huzzah, we are permitted to throw caution to the wind and Cookie Monster the bag. My objective here is to verify potency and effects, even the unpleasant effects. And, if at all possible, discover anything that might be described as a “trip” that is legally available. I understand that this is not Psilocybin, but Amanitas are reported to have psychedelic potential, so I hold out hope eternal.

I am happy to report: I did not suffer for my rashness but rather had a pleasant (even though not psychedelic) time.

Results:

First off, one of the reasons you have to be careful with Amanitas is that they can cause an upset stomach if they’re too rich in ibotenic acid (non-activated muscimol). I did indeed get some stomach cramps after a while, but a prompt breakfast set me right again. I have an iron constitution though. In an RPG, I make a great tank.

I can definitely say that my mood was a bit uplifted and I was extremely serene and centered. I had good focus and concentration. The CBD helped cut muscle tension and relax me, while once again the Amanita gave me the tiniest sense that I was at the onset of feeling psychedelic, without ever quite launching a “trip” proper. This lasted for hours, but may yet have subtle lingering effects now as this was only 24-ish hours ago. I had had this similar experience with the Amanita Regalia caps I tried from Boom Boyz, so I am happy to verify that you can get the whole-shroom experience in a gummy!

For most of the rest of the day, I was drowsy enough for a nap and also had a hearty appetite that night. Amanitas do have a reputation for putting you to sleep at higher doses, so that is another effect I’m noting. I’m trying to observe everything as scientifically as possible, which is a bit difficult when you hit me with “holy basil,” I never even heard of it before. I’m assuming it’s related to the basil on the spice rack and the effects have something to do with essential oils, blah blah.

Of course, people microdose shroom gummies for ambient effects like reducing anxiety, improving focus, or what have you. I realize also that we have to tread carefully in selling commercial psychedelics to the public. So I’m waiting patiently over here for a my-size dosage to come by, but in the meantime, I can see where others would find this product satisfactory.

Hometown Hero Magical Muscaria Gummies Are the Best So Far

Compared to every other mushroom gummy I’ve tried which was a complete dud so far, Hometown Hero came through in concentrating the Amanita essence in a gummy. I knew I could count on them! I will continue my mushroom explorations periodically but hope to revisit more HH mushroom products as time goes on and perhaps more legalization goes through.

We would like to say “thank you” to Ethernal Gold Dispensary which provided the review sample.

Comparison of Different Cannabis Consumption Mediums

0
cannabis-consumption

For us veteran stoners, out minds are likely already made up about what method of cannabis consumption we prefer. But for those new to the cannabis scene, the cannabis industry has now gotten sophisticated enough that the galaxy of bewildering choices can be intimidating. Hence, we’re going to catch up on some basic guides around here for those just joining us.

Old “old school veteran” stoner now represents a small part of the cannabis market. Here’s a recent survey of the California market, for instance:

Infographic_CA_Cannabis_Consumer_Profile

First off, over half the cannabis market is now female. Surprised, anyone? Moreover, of the total cannabis consumer market, roughly 40% are married and raising children in the home. The majority are in the labor force.

What does this tell us? Cannabis has to fit into a whole lifestyle for a lot of users. Weed isn’t just for college-age dormies vegging in their own funk with no plans for the weekend. The modern cannabis user balances weed use with being a parent and professional, and enjoying an active lifestyle.

That factor informs your choice of cannabis consumption. So we ask the time-honored canonical blog question: “Which one is right for you?”

Smoking

Pros:

  • – So easy a caveman can do it
  • – Fast effects kick in
  • – Bong rips get you really high

Cons:

  • – Least healthy consumption method
  • – It reeks!
  • – Harsh on the lungs

Smoking cannabis, whether by bong, pipe, blunt, or joint, is the time-honored way to consume cannabis. On the plus side, nothing quite feels as satisfying as a good, solid bong rip. Smoking is simple, takes almost no skill, and gets you buzzing right away. It’s also one of the cheapest ways to consume.

The downsides are everything else. Smoke particles get in your lungs and can cause health concerns just as bad as cigarette smoking. The smell is impossible to cover up, so you’d better be living in circumstances tolerant to usage. The pungent smoke gets in your hair, clothes, upholstery, etc. Also, cleaning out a bong has got to be one of the nastiest chores in all drugdom.

Dabbing

Pros:

  • – Even higher highs
  • – Healthier consumption method
  • – Purest way to taste cannabis essence
  • – Super efficient

Cons:

  • – Takes skill
  • – Burn hazard
  • – High maintenance
  • – Expensive

Dabbing is where you take a cannabis extract and heat it up to a temperature where it vaporizes, but doesn’t burn. Dabbing was seldom practiced pre-legalization, but has exploded in popularity in the 21st century. And dabbing gets you a more pure cannabis experience, removing all that plant matter you would be smoking to focus on the pure cannabinoids and terpenes. It is the gourmet way to consume, hands down, and the aristocratic way to use weed.

The biggest downside is that it takes a lot of skill and practice to get dabbing right. Erigs to automate this process help, but are pricey. Live resin cannabis concentrate is expensive too. Using the quartz banger method, you’re waving a torch around and liable to touch a glowing hot banger accidentally. Finally, dabbing is a maintenance hassle, making for residue build-up that’s hard to clean. Dabbing is not for klutzes. If it weren’t for the technical factors we’d see a lot more dabbers.

Vaping

Pros:

  • – Dead simple
  • – Widely available
  • – Discreet
  • – Decent effect kick-in time

Cons:

  • – Possibly more damaging than smoking
  • – Unreliable sources
  • – Lowest buzz factor
  • – Terrible artificial candy flavors

Vaping was virtually unheard-of until the turn of the century, and then it exploded in popularity. Every town in America seems to be spouting a vape shop on the corner, and then there seems to be vapes for sale in every gas station. Vaping is super-discreet, with the vapor dissipating instantly with nearly no trace. And like smoking and dabbing, you begin to feel the effects of vaping relatively quickly. Vapes are designed to be disposable, so the maintenance is nil.

But the downsides make me wonder why vaping is still a thing at all. First off, out of all the cannabis consumption methods, this is the only one with actual casualties when people were dying of VAPI. A vape cartridge, even from the best source, is an oil vial of mystery. The substance inside bears little resemblance to cannabis material and tastes like inhaling burning sugar thanks to the diabetes flavor palette of vapes. The vape industry is shot through and through with fake carts, counterfeits, mislabeling, dilution, shady companies, ineffective regulation and just about zero trust from anybody who’s an expert. Worst of all, the very best vape cartridge in the world won’t get you as high as a toke off some mids in a bong. Vapes are the skid row bum of weed.

Edibles

Pros:

  • – The ultimate being discreet
  • – Effects last longer
  • – Perfect for medical / therapeutic purposes
  • – Consistent results per individual
  • – Widely available
  • – Huge variety of products

Cons:

  • – Wildly varying results from one individual to another
  • – Nobody likes the waiting game
  • – Sketchy reliability

Before legalization, edibles extended to a tray of homemade pot brownies. Since legalization, we’ve seen edibles explode in popularity and sophistication. You can buy ready-made cannabis-infused treats from cookies to gummy candies to infused beverages, including beer and coffee. Recently I tried a honey-powder mix to use as an additive for tea and coffee, and it was great! Edibles leave no sign that you’re using cannabis, making it the ultimate discreet way to consume. Furthermore, the buzz lasts longer and is felt deeper. As long as you’re one of the lucky few with a digestive system that processes it correctly, an edible buzz is reliable and consistent every time. Finally, it’s easy to get the precise dose for medical and therapeutic users.

The main downside is that edibles don’t work for everyone. There are individual variations in how your liver processes edibles, so if they don’t work for you, you’re out of luck! Others are at the other end of the scale where edibles are too strong except in tiny mouse bites. The other downside of edibles is that they take a while to kick in. And, like their vape counterparts, they’re sometimes seen in gas stations with sketchy reputations. All in all, edibles almost beat out the competition for overall convenience.

In Conclusion…

Variable factors in your lifestyle will determine which cannabis consumption method is right for you. These include the legality of weed where you live, your living companions and how they feel about weed, the presence of children in the household, and so on. For example, I’d think twice about maintaining a dab rig with a curious toddler around.

If you have complete flexibility, it’s down to personal preference. For a new cannabis user, I’d recommend trying smoking first and then edibles, maybe exploring dabbing if you want an upgrade or turning to vaping if you’re desperate for options.

That’s the state of things today; hope for a better tomorrow with full legalization and full regulation. Readers, what lifestyle factors impact your cannabis consumption methods? Share here in the comments or in our dank forum.

Panna Extracts Cart Review – Potent But Tastes Badly

panna cart review

Today I walked up to Health for Life dispensary, which don’t be fooled by the name, it’s a THC weed-loving place. Kind reception that greeted me with a smile and the bud tender was super chill. We chatted carts and I got the Panna Extracts Watermelon Kush 0.5 gram cart. It was packaged nicely and easy to get to without a lot of struggle. It fits right on my standard battery. I took a pull or two, coughed, and was a little turned off by the sweetness. Now to be fair, I am not into sweets. I don’t like candy, I’ll take a salty peanut any day. So aside from that and the slight harshness, I found the high to be uplifting and kinda in the back of my head if that makes any sense?

Pros:

  • Potent
  • Stoney

Cons:

  • The taste is too sweet and artificial

Recommendations: Some improvements to the taste would be great

panna cart box

Potent and uplifting

Today I’ll be reviewing the Panna Extracts Watermelon Kush 0.5 gram cartridge:

  • Profile: The Panna Extracts Watermelon Kush cartridge is a sativa-dominant hybrid with a THC content of 80%. It is derived from the Watermelon OG strain, which is known for its fruity flavor and uplifting effects. The cartridge also contains terpenes, which are aromatic compounds that give cannabis its unique flavor and aroma.
  • Effects: The Panna Extracts Watermelon Kush cartridge is said to produce a clear-headed and uplifting high. It is a good choice for daytime use, as it can help to improve mood, focus, and creativity. Some users also report that the cartridge helps to relieve stress and anxiety.
  • Taste: The Panna Extracts Watermelon Kush cartridge has a strong watermelon flavor. Some users find the taste to be overly sweet, while others enjoy it. If you prefer a more natural-tasting cartridge, you may want to try a different flavor.
  • Overall: The Panna Extracts Watermelon Kush cartridge is a high-quality product with potent effects. However, the taste may not be to everyone’s liking. If you are looking for a sweet and fruity cartridge, this is a good option. However, if you prefer a more natural-tasting cartridge, you may want to try a different flavor.

Beta-Myrcene terpenes

The terpenes in the Panna Watermelon Kush cart 0.5 grams:

  • Beta-Myrcene: This is the most abundant terpene in cannabis, and it is responsible for the earthy, musky flavor of the plant. Myrcene is also known to have sedative effects, so it can help to relax the body and mind.

These are the main terpenes in the Panna Watermelon Kush cart .5 grams. Each terpene has its own unique flavor and effects, so they work together to create a complex and well-rounded experience.

If you prefer a more natural-tasting cartridge, you may want to try a different flavor that does not contain as much limonene or beta-caryophyllene. However, if you are looking for a potent and flavorful sativa-dominant hybrid, the Panna Watermelon Kush cart is a good option.

Here are some additional thoughts on the Panna Extracts Watermelon Kush cartridge:

  • The cartridge is made with high-quality distillate, which ensures a smooth and consistent vaping experience.
  • The cartridge is also equipped with a ceramic coil, which helps to produce flavorful vapor.
  • The cartridge is available in a variety of sizes, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs.

In conclusion, I believe that this is a good company making quality products. This flavor however was not for me, but that will not stop me from trying others they make, one flavor does not make a company. From all that I read and how others seem to be thrilled with it, I’m going to assume they will have a flavor I’ll love.

panna cart details

Concluding the review

Overall, the Panna Extracts Watermelon cartridge is a good option for those looking for a potent and flavorful sativa-dominant hybrid. However, if you prefer a more natural-tasting cartridge, you may want to try a different flavor. I really hated this flavor. The cart will set you back $24

Hello Mood Delta 8 Moroccan Hash and Live Resin Wax | Better Taste, Weakened Potency

Hello-Mood-Moroccan-Hash-and-Live-Resin-Wax

When last we visited Hello Mood, an online cannabis product dispenser with an aggressive advertising campaign – reaching even to YouTube – we sampled their delta-8 Afghan Hash, which we found to be as skunky and high as any hash we have ever encountered. Since then, we’ve visited a couple more hashes, with a high-CBD hash from my local Despensary and TR Sun trying Mendocino Hash out Cali way.

So when we saw Hello Mood expand its line, I thought it was time to check out Hello Mood again. But this time I’m not so happy.

For the record, we got their Moroccan Hash (1.5 grams $40) and their Live Resin Sour Diesel Wax (1 gram $40).

Pros:

  • Great flavor
  • Good consistency
  • Easy to work with
  • Full spectrum effects

Cons:

  • Puny, weak potency
  • Bit pricey for the potency

Recommendations: Who goes to this much trouble making gem-quality live resin wax and then only gives it a potency of 28% delta 8? Same deal with the Moroccan hash at 27% delta 8. Double that potency and then get back to us.

Hello-Mood-Moroccan-Hash-2
Hello-Mood-Live-Resin-Wax-2

Taste and Quality are up to par

Both the Moroccan Hash and the Live Resin Wax were a step up in taste, aroma, consistency, and overall quality compared to Hello Mood Afghan Hash.

The Moroccan Hash is basically pressed kief, exactly like you would press yourself out of your grinder (assuming you fuss with such trivialities). It has a consistency like moist sand, very easy to work with. While hash (as I covered extensively last time) does not set a very high bar in the aesthetics department, Hello Mood Moroccan Hash is rather pleasant in aroma and taste, like a mild, oaky coffee.

As for the Live Resin Wax, it wins the award for Getting My Hopes Up before I discovered the potency couldn’t get a mosquito high. Just look at this pure, golden wax, glistening with terpene-syrup, full-spectrum goodness. It truly has the consistency of the best wax, very pliable and easy to scoop out with a dab tool. Being Sour Diesel, it had the aroma and taste of the finest extracts in that strain. Even though strains high in limonene aren’t my favorite, being sour enough to pucker a killer whale, but it isn’t called “Sour” Diesel for nothing.

Alas, as soon as light/torch hit bowl/banger, our revels now are ended.

Hello-Mood-Moroccan-Hash-3
Hello-Mood-Live-Resin-Wax-3

Both the Hash and Wax suffer weak potency

Bear in mind: We are already talking about delta 8 here, which has half the potency of regular THC (D9). Truly, on Hello Mood’s own site, they mention that the Moroccan Hash is less potent than the Afghan Hash, and lists the potency of 27.59% delta 8. So rank that an equivalent of ~15% THC. Being kief, we do get the full botanical spectrum of entourage effects, but we basically have a dusty, compressed kief gives you the faintest tingling of a buzz after you’ve smoked a whole bowl of it. What effects it does have are heavy on the grogginess and couch-lock. Almost exactly the opposite of the Afghan Hash experience.

The Live Resin Wax, as I say, was a tragedy. At 28.8% delta 8, this tasted good and had a great entourage profile to go with almost zero cannabinoid effects. In this case, I am questioning the 28%, especially since it’s hard-printed on the cap and batch quality can notoriously vary. Here I did a perfect cold start dab of the tastiest wax, and then felt less effects than CBD oil. Wow!

I will say this: Hello Mood is open about these products and some of you might be looking for lower potency effects. The puzzling part of that is, WHY would you turn to hash and wax, two of the highest-concentrated forms of cannabis, while looking for low potency? it’s like ordering a decaf espresso. You can get 8% delta 8 flower all day, if you like it mild. Especially with the hash, the aesthetics are not worth the mild buzz.

I can only mildly recommend Hello Mood Afghan Hash and Live Resin Wax

So far, their Afghan Hash made one of my top highs of the year, while both the Moroccan Hash and the Live Resin Wax are forgettable. While they are both aces on the aesthetics, the potency is far too low to interest anyone but the most casual of users. This could indicate Hello Mood experimenting with new products before they get the formula right, or it could be declining quality standards – the same malady that seems to choke down about half the cannabis companies out there.

BUT if very mild cannabis hash or wax is what you want to get – maybe you want to flex in front of your higher-tolerance friends while dabbing the equivalent of a designated driver’s ginger ale? Then Hello Mood has your ticket. Who knows, maybe they’ll up the potency in later batches.

Readers, tell us why you’d bother with a lower-potency hash when it’s not that tasty in the first place? This is keeping me up at night. Here in the comments or in our high-potency forum.

Health for Life Flower Review – Relaxing and Stimulating

0
health for life flower review

When I entered I was greeted kindly by the front-of-house staff. It’s nice to have folks say hi. As I was being shown some of their selections, the kind budtender said to me, “Of the choices, I’d get this!” as he held up the Health for Life – Tony Clifton strain. I like that the bag is clear on one side so that you can fully see the product, albeit you can’t smell it. It looked good and the 1/2 oz cost $65 +tax. But if you’re local, you get 15% off- so I got an oz out the door for $130. Not bad at all if the flower is good, this flower was great!

Pros:

  • Relaxing and stimulating
  • Well balanced
  • Decently priced

Cons:

  • None

Recommendations: None

health for life flower box

Relaxing and stimulating

Tony Clifton is a hybrid strain with a THC content of 20.49%. It is a cross between the strains OG Kush and Tahoe OG, and it has a complex flavor profile that combines notes of citrus, pine, and earth. The effects of Tony Clifton are both relaxing and stimulating, making it a good choice for both daytime and nighttime use.

Taste and Effects

The taste of Tony Clifton is one of its most distinctive features. The first thing you’ll notice is a strong citrus flavor, followed by notes of pine and earth. I’m not sure where the pine taste came from as it was not listed, but it may have been 4th in testing. The smoke is smooth and easy on the throat, and the flavor lingers on the palate long after you’ve exhaled. You don’t want to pass it as it’s so tasty, so roll a few if you’re having people over, this will be coveted.

The effects of Tony Clifton are both relaxing and stimulating. The initial effects are uplifting and euphoric, but they quickly give way to a sense of deep relaxation. This strain is great for relieving stress and anxiety, and it can also be helpful for pain relief.

health for life flower

Well balanced

Tony Clifton is a well-balanced hybrid strain with a complex flavor profile and relaxing effects. It’s a great choice for both daytime and nighttime use, and it’s sure to please both novice and experienced smokers. It made me feel not only relaxed, but creative, getting into some real crafty stuff, making me really enjoy what I was doing. This would be great for working a Lego set or puzzle or any craft, you just get into it.

Here are some additional details about Tony Clifton:

* **Terpene Profile:** The terpene profile of Tony Clifton is dominated by limonene, linalool, and myrcene. Limonene is a citrusy terpene that has mood-boosting and anti-anxiety effects. Linalool has a number of potential health benefits. It has been shown to have anti-anxiety, anti-stress, anti-convulsant, and sedative effects. It may also help to reduce inflammation and pain. Linalool is also a natural insect repellent. Myrcene is an earthy terpene that has sedative and pain-relieving effects.

Overall, Tony Clifton is a well-rounded hybrid strain with a lot to offer. It has a complex flavor profile, relaxing effects, and it’s relatively easy to grow. If you’re looking for a new strain to try, I highly recommend Tony Clifton.

health for life flower details
EDITOR’S NOTE: The late comedian and “Taxi” star Andy Kaufman created a lounge-lizard-type character named “Tony Clifton.” So far this is the only reference we can find, so we’re assuming the strain is named in his honor. Anybody in commenter-land have better info?

Other Information

In addition to the information above, here are some other things to keep in mind about Tony Clifton:

  • Dosage: Tony Clifton is a potent strain, so it’s important to start with a low dose and gradually increase as needed.
  • Side Effects: Tony Clifton can cause some side effects, such as dry mouth, red eyes, and drowsiness.
  • Storage: Tony Clifton should be stored in a cool, dark place.

In conclusion, I would like to give this strain, considering price quality and overall appearance a 4.8 red eyes out of five red eyes.

Aether Gardens Live Resin Budder Review – Top Notch

ae badder review

Before I talk about the badder, I’d like to just say, that if you do not drive (as I cannot due to my bad neck) this place is not easy to get into. The easy way in is guarded and you are not allowed to go the safe way, so I once again climbed about a 10’ tall pile of rocks to get into this place. NuWu, please fix that, I’d like to not see someone get hurt there.

You can check out our video review of the Aether Gardens Live Resin Budder here.

Pros:

Lokkboxx Humidor Stash Box | Outstanding Elegance

Lokkboxx-humidor-stash-box-review

Today we’re going to explore the Lokkboxx, a unique cannabis accessory. It is a humidor stash system for herb, holding upwards of 15 grams of herb in a humidity-controlled environment to keep your weed daisy-fresh. We have the maple wood version here, and we’ll break it down for you. The Lokkboxx retails from their site at a price of $204.25.

We saw the Lokkboxx originally on another site’s list of Father’s Day gift recommendations and had to check this out. It does indeed have perfect gift appeal for the stoner on your list – practical, but just a little fussier and fancier than what most people would buy themselves. This impressive system is housed in a beautiful maple wood box weighing a good five pounds. Even without the humidor system, this will be the classiest container you’ve ever stashed weed in.

UPDATE: Finally got around to putting together a video demo of the Lokkboxx here,

UPDATE: And a follow-up on the Lokkboxx performance here.

Pros:

  • Beautiful!
  • Durable, quality materials
  • Solid instructions
  • Enhances flower quality

Cons:

  • Maybe a bit overkill for casual smokers

Recommendations: Perchance, a way to stash prerolls, joints, and blunts in the same system?

Lokkboxx-2

The Lokkboxx is Gorgeous!

The first thing that strikes you about the Lokkboxx is its solid aesthetic build. Hand-crafted maplewood sanded down to smoothness, containing a humidor system with snug glass lids, plus a selection of smoking gear including its own grinder. This stash will elevate your cannabis consumption to a ritual. If you’re a super-villain and James Bond comes over for a smoke session at your Mediterranean island base, this is the stash box you haul out to intimidate him with your impeccable taste.

With all that said, this kit is not nearly as intimidating as it looks. Let’s break it down:

Lokkboxx-5

The kit comes with microbeads and charcoal filters. You have to soak the microbeads in distilled water first. Then add them to the humidifier compartment here:

Lokkboxx-7

You can see the channels going under the foam surface. That’s going to allow the moisture to permeate the five glass domes, where your weed is to be stored. Also shown here is the grinder, and the small metal cylinder is a pollen press, used for compressing kief into little discs. Will people never run out of ways to fiddle with their kief? Here’s a tutorial video we found on using a pollen press to make hash coins, which is a pretty cool trick if you just have hash accumulating like landfill.

The other end contains the glass domes with little dishes inside, made to hold a pile of nugs. Each dome should hold approximately 3.5 grams of flower, for a grand total of 17.5 grams of storage. While you can store ground flower in the dishes, they likely won’t hold 3.5 grams ground.

Lokkboxx-4

The hygrometer pops out and the kit comes with a battery for it. You use this to measure the humidity in your controlled environment. Last we round up a few accessories:

Lokkboxx-3

Lokkboxx-6

The marker pens and rubber bands are just for marking the glass domes in case you have more than one kind of weed to store. The kit also comes with cleanign brushes, some scraping tools, and a magnifier card for looking at your beautiful, trichrome-rich buds.

Humidity and Your Weed

So, what is this humidor business about? Similar to cigars, cannabis is best enjoyed at the proper humidity. However, cigar humidors won’t do since cannabis has different requirements. Cannabis is best kept at a humidity between roughly 55% to 65%, ideally right about 62%. Too little moisture and your weed gets dry and brittle, grinding to powder and smoking like flavorless sawdust. But if it has too much moisture, you run the risk of growing mold or mildew on it. Hence, a humidor to store weed at just the right humidity.

You take a sprinkle of the microbeads and soak them in distilled water for 24 hours. Then place the microbeads in the humidifier chamber and close up the box; it will take a couple of days to arrive at the proper humidity. After that, you store your weed in the domes and check the microbeads once a week to re-water as necessary. This video on the Lokkboxx channel shows the process.

Lokkboxx is Indispensable for the Advanced Stoner

I say again, Lokkboxx is the last word in elegant craftsmanship, and it’s still a darn nice stash box and grinding station, even if you don’t have much issue with humidity. The maple wood box alone is almost worth the $200 price.

BUT: I can also see where this has a niche use. You would think that I’d be the perfect target market for Lokkboxx, and to be sure I intend to use it sometime. I was going to try to test the humidity environment on some flower buds and make a big video, but that’s not in the cards this week. I may follow up. But in my circumstances, I never have 15 grams of weed at once, even if I’m backed up in reviews. That’s another thing, is that reviewing flower means that most of my flower at any given time is stuff I got for review, over which I have no quality control. So this system seems like overkill to preserve some chalky, dry baggie of delta 8 nugs. On top of that, I’m not always reviewing weed; sometimes it’s a dabs and waxpen week, other times I’m reviewing a parade of gummies, and so on.

Now then, were I retired and living in a prime flower state, this would be much more practical accessory. I see the ideal Lokkboxx customer as someone deeply invested in the cannabis lifestyle, likely using it for a medical condition, who needs a steady supply at a certain quality. I can also see this coming in handy when you find a sale at a dispensary and stock up on flower; now you have a way to store it long term.

For sure, Lokkboxx is bound to be a favorite product for you terpene snob connoisseurs out there. Readers, share your experiences with humidity-controlled weed in the comments below or in our not-so-elegant but serviceable forum.

22RED Live Resin Badder Review – Strong and Tasty

22Red-live-resin-review

22RED is a California-based cannabis brand that is known for its high-quality live resin products. The 22 am live resin badder is one of their most popular products, and it is easy to see why. This badder is made with fresh-frozen cannabis flower, which is processed using a live resin extraction method. This results in a product that is rich in flavor, potency, and terpenes. I do like this process a lot and could taste that there were no added chemicals. Making it so tasty, yet a bit harsh on the exhale. I’m not sure if there is a shelf life for badder, this one has been up since 6/22.

Pros:

  • Looks great
  • Incredible taste
  • Strong effects

Cons:

  • Little harsh

Recommendations: None

22red jar

Smooth and creamy

The 22am live resin badder is a beautiful amber color. It has a smooth, creamy consistency and it is easy to work with. The badder is also very potent, with a THC content of 65.1%. I could feel the high hit me very quickly, so I did not do too much all at once (as I sometimes do with dabs.)

Incredible taste

The flavor of the 22am live resin badder is simply incredible. Very rich with a depth of quality flower. It has a strong, fruity flavor with hints of citrus and pine with a dash of cinnamon. The flavor is very smooth and it does not leave a harsh aftertaste. I think this is what I liked best after the high.

Strong effects

The effects of the 22am live resin badder are very strong. Slow down their trigger, this one is also a quick hitter, and in you may get knocked out if you go too fast at it. Take your time, enjoy the flavor, and watch just how high you get on just a few pulls. It is a potent Indica-dominant hybrid that will leave you feeling relaxed and euphoric. I also found I got a lot of creative things done while high, making my time feel more quality than quantity. The badder also has a long-lasting effect, so you will be feeling good for hours after you consume it. This surprised me the most as I got a lot done before thinking of another dab…

Additional thoughts

The 22am live resin badder is an excellent product. It is well-made, potent, and flavorful. If you are looking for a high-quality live resin product, then I highly recommend this badder. Do however ask about how long they have had it sitting, maybe fresher would not have been so harsh off the bat.
Here are some additional thoughts on the product:

  • The packaging is very well-designed. The jar is made of thick glass and it has a child-resistant seal.
  • The price is very reasonable. For a .5g jar, the price is only $18 out the door
  • The badder is very easy to work with. It is smooth and sticky like a taffy and comes off the tool easy
  • The effects are very strong. This is a potent Indica-dominant hybrid that will leave you feeling relaxed, creative, and euphoric.
  • The flavor is simple, just as it should be. It has a strong, fruity flavor with hints of citrus and pine, with just a hint of cinnamon. I’d almost say cookie-like, almost.

Concluding this review

Overall, I highly recommend the 22am live resin badder. For the price point and how long it last. It is an excellent product that is well-made, potent, and flavorful. If you are looking for a high-quality live resin product, then I highly recommend this badder.
So in conclusion, would I pick this up again in the future? Yes, yes, I would. I feel that the quality is spot on, and the packaging is cool, yet simple. They marked the jar, so that’s good. Unless I get a few from the same brand, it’s just the brand. I do however wonder, and I will be looking into this on my own, does it have a shelf life? Would my pulls have been smoother if it was fresher? We shall see…

Pangaea Extracts Live Resin Review – Great Effects

0
pangaea extract review

I specifically bought this Live Resin because I wanted to try out the Lookah Straw Dab Pen, and it works amazing with this due to it being so saucy, so it should work great with other equipment. (Check out the Lookah Dab Straw review to learn more). The effects of this method and the combination of the live resin were effective immediately! One hit and I could feel the effects. The Kaprikorn OG put me in a relaxed state and made me feel “floaty”, light as a feather even. As for the flavor, it was fruity! And boy did it give me major munchies.  The container was easy to use, it requires you to push on the cap and turn. Easy! This was on sale, the only way I really buy weed these days, at $18.

Pros:

  • Easy access packaging
  • Flavor
  • The effects

Cons:

  • Dry mouth

Recommendations: None

pangaea extract box

The flavor was solid

Even though this strain consists of limonene (Citrus-scented terpene), it only smelled of citrus while the flavor was fruity! There are notes of the citrus, but it isn’t a punch to the face like you sucked on a warhead. Personally, I’m a bit sensitive when it comes to floral/herbal flavors, so I picked up mostly these flavors while smoking, which makes sense since the strain does contain myrcene and linalool. Overall, I do not think you will be disappointed by the flavor.

pangaea extract close

The Effects

Total Cannabinoids: 90.26%

Total Terpenes: 8.268%

THC: 70.36%

CBD: 172%

The Kaprikorn OG is specifically known to help with depression, anxiety, and in some cases cramps (o la la ladies!), and that is what it did for me. I have high-functioning anxiety and after smoking, I felt happy, floaty/relaxed and the munchies came strong! The hunger turned me into a fridge gremlin as I kept checking for new food to magically appear. Thankfully there were lucky charms in the house.

Lab tests

Dry Mouth like a SOB

The ONLY complaint I have is that this particular strain causes severe dry mouth. I knew this before going into it and prepared by ordering a bunch of milk tea, but be warned, there never seems to be enough liquid around to quench the Sahara Desert that is now in your mouth.

YESSS~ The effects, even dry mouth, and taste are worth the high you will get from this.

Mendocino Flower Review – Well Rounded

mendocino flower review

As someone who enjoys trying new strains of cannabis, I was excited to get my hands on an 8th of Mendocino Natural Farms‘ Gush Mintz. Overall, I would give this strain a score of 8 out of 10, with some notable strengths and not too much need for improvement.

Pros:

  • Sweet and fruity
  • Well balanced
  • Incredible smoothness

Cons:

  • None

Recommendations: None

mendocino flower

Sweet and fruity scent

One of the standout features of this strain is its flavor and aroma. As soon as I opened the package, I didn’t smell much. But after breaking it up, I was hit with a sweet and fruity scent that was incredibly pleasant. Upon smoking, the taste was just as enjoyable, with a smooth smoke that tasted of berries and mint. It was a truly delicious smoking experience that I found myself looking forward to every time I reached for my stash.

Well balanced effects

In terms of effects, I found Gush Mintz to be a well-balanced strain that delivered both cerebral and physical effects. The high was initially energizing and uplifting, with a strong head buzz that left me feeling creative and focused. As the high progressed, I felt a sense of relaxation spread throughout my body, making it the perfect strain for unwinding after a long day.

Another notable strength of this strain was the quality of the buds themselves. The nugs were dense and well-cured, with a vibrant green color and a generous coating of trichomes. It was clear that care had been taken in growing and harvesting this strain, which only added to the overall quality of the product.

mendocino flower close

Incredible smoothness

One of the standout features of the 8th Mendocino Natural Farms’ Gush Mintz strain is its incredible smoothness. This is a factor that is often overlooked by those who are new to cannabis, but for more experienced users, it can make a world of difference in the overall smoking experience.

The smoothness of Gush Mintz can be attributed to a few different factors. First and foremost, the quality of the flower itself is exceptional. The buds are dense and well-cured, with a perfect balance of moisture that makes them easy to work with. When smoked, the flower burns evenly and produces a smooth and consistent smoke that is easy on the lungs and throat.

Another factor that contributes to the smoothness of this Mendocino flower is its terpene profile. This strain is rich in terpenes like limonene, myrcene, and linalool, which are known for their calming and soothing effects. These terpenes also help to give the strain its signature flavor and aroma, which are sweet, fruity, and slightly minty.

mendocino flower details

Concluding this review

Finally, the smoothness of this Mendocino flower can also be attributed to the way it was grown and processed. Mendocino Natural Farms is known for its commitment to sustainable and organic farming practices, which helps to produce flower that is free from harmful chemicals and pesticides. Additionally, the flower is hand-trimmed and carefully cured to ensure that it retains its potency and flavor.

All in all, I would still highly recommend Mendocino Natural Farms’ Gush Mintz to anyone looking for a well-rounded and delicious strain. With its flavorful aroma, balanced effects, and high-quality buds, it’s a great choice for anyone who enjoys a good smoking experience. And while there’s certainly room for improvement, overall I would give this strain a solid 8 out of 10.

High Fidelity Flower Review – Impressive Aroma and Effects

high fidelity flower review

As a cannabis enthusiast and a member of Downtown Patient Group, I had the opportunity to try the 3.5g ($12.99) High Fidelity God’s Breath strain from their menu, and I must say, it is an exceptional product that stands out among the rest.

Pros:

  • Well-cured
  • Very potent
  • Impressive aroma

Cons:

  • None

Dense and well-cured

The buds were dense and well-cured, with a beautiful mix of green and purple hues that were coated with trichomes. As soon as I opened the package, I was hit with a pungent, earthy aroma with hints of pine and citrus. The smell alone was enough to get me excited about trying this strain.

Very potent effects

When I finally got to try it, I was blown away by the potent effects of this strain. The high was intense and long-lasting, with an immediate cerebral rush that left me feeling euphoric and energized. The initial rush was followed by a relaxing body high that helped ease any tension or stress I was feeling. Another thing that stood out to me, about this strain was the clarity of the high. Despite being very potent, it didn’t leave me feeling foggy or dazed like some strains can. Instead, I felt focused and creative, making it the perfect strain for getting work done or engaging in creative activities.

high fidelity flower close

Impressive aroma

In terms of flavor, the taste was just as impressive as the aroma. The smoke was smooth and flavorful, with a distinct earthy flavor and hints of pine and citrus that lingered on the tongue. It was a truly enjoyable smoking experience from start to finish.

One of the things that immediately stands out about High Fidelity’s God’s Breath is its unique name. It’s not often that you come across a strain with such a creative and evocative name, and it’s a testament to the creativity of the breeders and growers behind this strain.

In terms of the aroma, God’s Breath is a particularly pungent strain, with an immediately strong smell that hits you as soon as you open the bag. The scent is rich and complex, with notes of earthy spice, sweet berries, and a distinctive garlic aroma that really sets it apart from other strains. This strong, pungent aroma is a result of the strain’s unique terpene profile. God’s Breath is particularly rich in terpenes like caryophyllene, limonene, and myrcene, which are known for their distinctive aroma and flavor profiles. These terpenes give the strain its characteristic garlic flavor and contribute to its overall potency and effects.

When smoked or vaporized, God’s Breath delivers a smooth and flavorful smoke that is thick and dense. The flavor profile is complex and nuanced, with notes of earthy spice, sweet berries, and a distinctive garlic flavor that lingers on the palate.

Another thing that impressed me about this strain was the consistency. Every time I tried it, the effects and flavors were consistent, which is a testament to the quality of the product and the care that went into growing and curing it.

Cannabis Isn’t Just For Getting Stoned Anymore

let-people-enjoy-things

Sit down. If you’re already sitting, sit down some more. Now listen carefully: There are people who want to use cannabis WITHOUT getting stoned!

Namely, me. There are dozens of us, dozens. But we’re in the extreme minority. Most of the users in cannabis culture are in it to get absolutely wrecked every time they light up. These are the mini-maxers who go to the dispensary looking for the highest possible THC percentage, and that’s verily their sole concern. That’s fine with me; sometimes I also like to get ripped too.

But my concern right now is that there are hundreds of cannabis users who AREN’T here to party. They are the patients, the medical users of marijuana. Some just use it as therapy, or simple pain relief from chronic complications. Still a few more (like me!) are searching through the alternative cannabinoids looking for cognitive enhancement. All of these people together do not want to get “stoned” all the time. They are simply looking to function as normal.

And they’re now being shoved to the side while cannabis culture caters exclusively to the stoner crowd. As is typically the case in capitalism (is there nothing it cannot ruin?), the minority group might as well not exist if it’s less than 49% of the market.

Quit judging other people for what they smoke already!

We just got done with decades of useless cannabis prohibition and stupid public stigma about it. Can we not enjoy a few sweet days as a community united before we turn to persecuting each other? Already I’m seeing cannabis forums and communities online dumping on people who use delta 8, HHC, CBD, THCA, and so on. Why? Because they’re not using “real pot.”

In the first place, cannabis grows naturally with over 100 cannabinoids, most of them still waiting their turn to be researched. Copy that for the terpenes and other organic compounds, so that’s thousands of potential variations of entourage effects. Each of these have their own, unique psychoactive profile, but they are ALL natural and extracted from “real pot.”

Yes, granted, since altcans have less regulation in the US than THC, alternative cannabinoids are more available in states that haven’t legalized yet. Hence, many in the cannabis community go around spouting the misinformation that people are only settling for delta 8 or whatever because they lack access to THC.

Here’s the catch though: You can also get THC in non-legalized states, as long as it’s extracted from marijuana containing less than 0.3% THC. Does this mean you can just extract THC from a truckload of low-THC hemp and then sell the THC by the pound? Yes, it does! That’s exactly what is happening now. Typically THC is sold in edible form in gummies and other treats, even in states that have not lifted a finger to decriminalize marijuana.

It’s still all “real pot,” unless it’s a synthesized cannabinoid not found in the plant, such as the case with THCO.

Why every alcohol drinker doesn’t drink Everclear straight

In every cannabis discussion space I see on the web right now, somebody out there posts this same question every day: “Why would anyone use anything but straight THC?”

As cannabis gradually enters mainstream attention, it is so far being assigned to the recreational substance category, along with tobacco and alcohol. But let’s examine that recreational use of alcohol.

Does every user of alcohol pound Everclear, noted for having the highest alcohol content by volume? To hear the majority of the cannabis community lately, they’d “be stupid not to,” since Everclear is the highest percentage of alcohol and the most efficient way to get drunk. To some people’s minds, that is the endgame of drinking: To get stupidly, dizzily frat-boy wasted and pass out next to the toilet after barfing in it.

But not all drinkers do this! Most drinkers of alcohol simply have a few beers and go to bed, or they enjoy a glass of wine with dinner, or have a cocktail with lunch, and go on about their day. Some people are only “social drinkers” or limit themselves to a champagne toast on special occasions. What a mystery! Why would they do that? Could it be that some people enjoy nuance and aesthetics? Is it possible that being just a little tipsy is enough for some people? Could it be that people actually practice moderation?

Yeah, that’s exactly the case! Hasn’t anybody wondered how we’ve managed with legalized alcohol all this time, if every drinker was chugging Johnny Walker Black for breakfast and spending the day stewed? That would be considered “being an alcoholic” and would be the point where friends and loved ones start calling for intervention.

Likewise, there are cannabis users who seek a balanced mental state only occasionally enhanced by a mild psychoactive effect. If you open your mind to the other cannabinoids and experiment with some good brands, you just may be surprised. As I document in my altcan guide, each of the cannabinoids have their own unique effects. Some will get you wasted, some will just relieve your pain and help you fall asleep, some are good for treating depression and anxiety, and some just mildly contribute a subtle physical effect.

Altcans are not going away

It’s not a “weed alternative.” It’s all WEED!

I, for one, like this situation. It’s like we bargained to legalize one drug and instead we legalized a million. I appreciate that there’s grass I can smoke and still get back to work, grass I can smoke that will give me euphoria without the brain fog, and grass I can smoke when it’s time to get bent.

I know I’m not the lone ranger. There are plenty of people out there who suffer panic attacks and paranoia using full-THC weed, but are able to enjoy the milder cannabinoids without the side effects. There are still more people who use cannabis on a strictly medical basis to treat issues of physical health, who also don’t want side effects – indeed, not even a “high.”

The diversity of offerings in the cannabis market is a thing to be celebrated, not scorned. Let us please not infect our cannabis community with the same toxic behavior that makes everything else on the Internet a drag. “Different strokes for different folks” is definitely in effect now!

Readers, share your experiences with cannabis varieties here in the comments or any ol’ time in our vibing forum.

Mountain Select Live Rosin Cart Review – Clean and Smooth

mountain select cart review

Today we will explore Mountain Select Premium Slush Live Rosin cartridges that deliver a smooth taste. Live rosin is one of the cleanest and most potent extracts which makes it a must-try. The live rosin has gone through premium quality, high potency, and a refined process that brings the terpenes to life. The flavor I tried, Puro Loco, is a hybrid indica that has a nice smooth smoke, but sadly not a lot of flavorful notes.

Pros:

  • Smooth hitting
  • Nice relaxed high
  • Clean design

Cons:

  • The flavor notes didn’t come through
  • Does not indicate if a hybrid, indica, or sativa strain

Recommendations: None

Relaxed high

The rosin cart (priced $35+tax) has a nice relaxed high at 70.8% THC so you can’t go wrong with the effectiveness of this product. The company claims to not have any additives and never uses harsh chemicals to produce its high-quality products. They pride themselves on using only recycled materials and even partner with a state-licensed recycling company, CannaCycle for all their green waste.

Standard hardware delivers balanced high

The cartridge can fit into any standard reusable pen. There are several tiers of products with rosin being the highest and purest level that is used in their cartridges.

I recommend smoking Mountain Select live rosin cartridges when you want to get a clean hit, without a burn in your throat, and a balanced high that delivers on the strain. I do wish the label indicated whether the strain was indica, hybrid, or sativa. If you are not hung up on a strong flavor, you will love this cart and the effect that it has on a nice head high.

Bobsled Extracts Cart Review – Good Mental and Physical Relief

This was my first time trying the Bobsled Extracts brand and I wasn’t disappointed! I tried the Black Dog Indica on the lowest setting for my vape pen (2.4v) and felt the effects within 2 hits. The effects kept me relaxed for the evening and made me happier overall. There is a citrus flavor to it, and if I had to place the taste I would go as far as to say lemony? A bit of a refresher before bed. This was also by far the easiest packaging I have ever dealt with. This cart was on sale at $20 when it is usually $30, so it made it worthwhile to try it!

You can check out our video review of the Bobsled Extracts Cart here.

Pros:

  • Easy access packaging
  • Price
  • Good mental and physical pain relief

Cons:

  • The taste could be a bit better

Recommendations: None

bobsled cart

Great packaging

As I said before, the packaging is so simple! It doesn’t even require solving a puzzle, just a simple “snack bag”. The nostalgia of opening a snack bag and there is weed instead of a squashed sandwich. I always check to see how easily accessible the packaging is for those who may struggle with motor skills by doing the infamous “left-handed test” (if you are a left-handed user then it is the right-handed test). It was still very easy to open one-handed.

bobsled cart resin

Affordable and smooth

The Bobsled Extracts cart is 1 gram and has 76.06% THC, 6.59% Terpenes, and .09% CBD. Originally this was about $30, but I got it on sale for $20, and considering most places charge $50 for .5 grams, I would say it was a good deal. It was really smooth and I didn’t cough at all!

Known Effects for Black Dog: calm, happy, relaxed, energetic, sleepy

This had a nice high to it, but it didn’t make me sleepy at all which is what I hope to get from an Indica. It did keep me relaxed throughout my body (was great for the muscle aches I had) and gave me a cheery disposition.

The taste could be somewhat better

Overall the taste wasn’t horrible as it was refreshing with the citrus profile, but I was hoping to get more of the blackberry, woodsy, and pine notes that this strain is known for. The aroma from it was a bit misleading compared to the taste.

Is this recommended? Yes! Considering it was on sale, has easy packaging, and the effects from this strain are perfect for mental and physical pain relief.

Green Dot Labs Live Resin Cart Review – Good and Smooth High

Green Dot Labs

If you are looking for a clean brand with exciting flavors that provides a smooth, long-lasting, vibrant high, try one of Colorado’s premium resin cartridges by Green Dot Labs. This Green Dot Labs cart has a pure, uncut, distilled-free live resin that is made from whole plants. Their products are high in terpene profiles that bring outbursts of exotic flavors.

Pros:

  • Strong head and body high
  • Very good to share with friends, who are always impressed with my Green Dot cart
  • Smooth – does not burn your throat when inhaling
  • The box is very easy to open and safe to keep the product in

Cons:

  • The price is fair for live resin, and worth it, but a little out of my budget to make it my regular product

Recommendations: None

green dot cart label

Premium quality

The flavor that I tried is Blü Frööt which is a strain cross between Sex on the Beach x Blu. Their flower flavors have always been of premium quality and have become much more available to both Recreational and Medical patients. The flavor notes that come out of this delicious cart are blueberry, exotic fruit, with a hint of cheesecake. I can’t comment enough on the smoothness when you inhale and exhale. There is no burn as I have experienced in other resin carts, and it is very enjoyable.

Green Dot Labs is a local brand in Colorado

On top of all that, who doesn’t love supporting a local business? In 2014, Green Dot Labs was founded by a wife and husband team out of Boulder, CO with a very respectable reputation for premium quality and strains. They pride themselves on being pure, nonsynthetic, and removing fake additives. I am impressed with the many unique and unfamiliar array of flavors!

“Burns” a little faster than some other carts

This product has a total THC of 72.76% and is 0.5 ml. I enjoy using the Green Dot Labs pen for a perfect burn. It does however burn a little faster than some other carts, and I do not always find consistency in how full the cartridge is.

green dot details

Concluding this review

Green Dot Labs has lots of products from flower, to cartridges, and concentrates. They have an easy-to-use battery that holds a good charge. They have several lines and many combinations of flavors in each line. Green Dot Labs have good promotions and get out to different dispensaries across CO. They provide very artistic and eye-catching designs that perfectly represent the flavor of the cartridge. They are packaged well by having a green cover that protects the top of the cart.  The price of one live resin cart is $30.00.

The resin cartridge comes in different tiers – Black Label, Blue Label, and Silver Black Label Resin Cartridges will not disappoint your taste buds or your euphoric high!

Diamonds Are Pete’s Best Friend!

As I go on reviewing my local scene, I realize that reviews from Iowa aren’t that useful to most of you. But perhaps you can take this as a general recommend for THCA diamonds in general, and check them out at your local dispensary. Amid all the other reviewers on our staff kicking it up in places like Las Vegas, California, or Illinois, reporting what happens in Iowa seems like small potatoes. But when we get anything this special, it’s cause for celebration, perhaps even for slaughtering a sacrifice to keep the cannabis gods on our side.

These diamonds are hard little white rocks. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear I was looking at crack. Pulling the top off the jar for the first time, I whiffed a potent and skunky aroma, rich and full-bodied like a good coffee. My lord, these are full spectrum! These little gems smell just like live rosin, and I’m still not sure how they accomplish this, but I assume they isolate cannabinoids and convert them to THCA, while leaving the rest of the formula untouched. Insert blah blah “closed loop” and “extraction from sauce” here. If you blindfolded me and gave me the Pepsi challenge between these and a THC diamond jar, I would not know the difference.

As clear as glass, these THCA diamonds melt gradually and evenly, without a speck of burning. Just the best material I have ever worked with dab-wise. As a bonus effect, when the dab is done the evidence is all but vanished. They vaporize so cleanly that they leave the banger unstained.

The taste is a bit earthy and spicy, with just a hint of citrus, but still fairly mild. Dabbing it is a smooth experience, tasty and satisfying without an overwhelmingly strong flavor.

As you can see in the video, I mention that the effects are starting to kick in and then wrap it up quickly. That’s because I felt it coming on big time and wanted to cut and run before I lost the ability for human speech.

Super-Uplifting and Energizing Buzz

What hit me next was one of those highs we stoners seek out and chase, but don’t always recapture. Heady, exhilarating, inspiring, lucid, and euphoric as hell. You could have dropped a bowling ball on my foot, torched my Magic the Gathering collection, and insulted my podcast and it would not have removed the smug grin off my face. This unique, almost spiritual high is the mark of a cannabis concentrate that elevates you without stoning you out and making you dopey. This effect, and consistently it is the case with all subsequent sessions, off a diamond smaller than the size of a pea, maybe a fat grain of rice. I put it up to the entourage effect more than the THCA.

The effects last on for hours, gradually lowering you into a relaxed state. Since I’m already something of a work-a-holic, I treasure concentrates that have an inspiring, motivating effect. With THCA diamonds, so far it’s been “dab a rock; write a script. dab a rock; make a video. dab a rock; organize the office.” The lasting effects and potency make this seem like so much more than just a 1-gram jar. For me, it’s good for at least ten sessions and maybe fifteen.

If You See THCA Diamonds, Try Them!

Whether at the Despensary in Iowa (hey, maybe you’re driving through to Illinois and need a rest stop), or wherever you happen to find yourself, give THCA diamonds a try. Cannabis forums are always peppered with veteran stoners asking “why bother with the altnoids when THCA is right there? This is one of those times when we’re on to a good alternative. perhaps with the potential to surpass classic D9THC. Since THCA is the precursor to THC itself,m this makes sense. THCA, naturally found in cannabis, is what you’re converting when you decarb weed or extract.

As for Des Moines’ own Despensary, I’m starting to think that they can do no wrong. How fortunate that, when we have this situation where we’re lucky to have a dispensary at all, we lucked out getting a top-quality one. Many places aren’t this lucky. I give THCA diamonds from the Despensary my highest recommendation for a quality dab.

Readers, share your experiences with THCA, diamonds, dabbing, and fly-over states like Iowa. Here in the comments or in our clouded and hotboxed forum.

Dablamp eRig Revisited | Now Vapes Dry Herb Too!

BANNER-Dablamp2

Hello you dabheads! You might recall the original Dablamp review we did here at Dab Connection back last fall. I had great things to say about it, and it’s been my go-to eRig ever since. It’s been sturdy and reliable, and everything I ask in push-button dabbing convenience – that also lights up my cloud like fog coming off of Dracula’s castle hideout. Long story short – We have the newest model of Dablamp with an extension that also vapes dry herb.

Anybody who’s read this site for a while would know the continuous struggle we have seen manufacturers undergo while trying to invent the perfect dual-use vaporizer. The Dablamp, to my view, has just perfected the easiest way to switch between dabs and flower and back. The Dablamp eRig is listed at their site for $219.

See your Present Author do my senile penguin best to review the rig coherently here.

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Fast heat-up
  • Max airflow with big puffy clouds
  • Smoothest taste of any rig
  • Induction heating is super efficient
  • Bargain price for an eRig (compare to Dr. Dabber Switch at $374.95)
  • Easiest switch between concentrates and herb ever
  • Impressively powerful battery

Cons:

  • Cleaning is still a pain – (but what eRig isn’t?)
  • Runs a bit hot around the business end (maybe unavoidable)

Recommendations: I’ll repeat my recommend for thermo-sensitive paint, a strap-on thermometer, or whatever it takes to make the heating element end indicate that it’s 800 degrees and hot to the touch. Outside of that, it would look even cooler with more lights and a terp slurper!

Dablamp herb cup

Revisiting the Genie of the Dablamp

Here’s the new updated feature: A dry herb cup. If you watched my video, I fumbled this part. I packed the herb into the larger cup, but you’re actually supposed to invert the top part and fill the herb there, then the cap slides on and threads down over it. Also, in fiddling around pre-recording, I also somehow managed to get the herb cup wet. Despite all this, the unit still performed and gave me plenty of puffs of vapor off my first use of the dry herb extension. So I klutzed my way into it and it still worked.

Dablamp kit

Otherwise, this seems to mostly be the same eRig we know and love. A recap:

The features of the DabLamp include:

  • Heavy-duty 4200mAh battery – takes a few hours to charge up
  • Induction heating – great taste, great effects, great clouds
  • Two use modes – 3-temp smart heating and a manual heat-on-demand
  • Safety cut-off to prevent overheating
  • Audio feedback instead of haptic

The full kit comes with:

  • Battery unit
  • Wall plug-in charger
  • Glass water reservoir
  • Glass nail
  • Glass cup-cap bubble topper
  • Titanium bucket
  • Quartz bucket insert
  • SIC bucket insert
  • Dab tool
  • NEW – dry herb capsule assembly

Dablamp instructions

You haven’t dabbed until you’ve tried induction dabbing!

The taste is rich, full-bodied, and satisfying, no matter if it’s dabs or dry herb. I even tried a chip of hash and for once I dabbed hash that didn’t taste like burning hay. Never chars the material, provided you keep it at a low enough temp. With torch dabbing, you can taste every terpene. With induction dabbing, you can tell all that and also who harvested the bud.

The powerful battery on the Dablamp plus the thick induction coil encircling the cup ensures an even heat-up and consistent results every time. Big, effortless clouds – lit up in your choice of blue, green, or red vapor – are yours at a push of a button. The even and predictable operation makes for an efficient session every time, wasting no material and giving you plenty of vapor off every Mg used.

Switching between extracts and dry herb: Kiss the puck goodbye!

You should all be familiar with the puck by now:

stainless-steel-liquid-pad

This is a drop-in stainless steel pad, about the size of a shirt button, which many vaporizers use to try to convert a dry herb oven into a concentrate oven. In theory, you take a dry herb vape like, say, the Airvape Leg-Pro:

Airvape-Legacy-Pro+20230316_150857

And they include the puck with this model. You drop the puck into that herb chamber, drip a tiny drop of concentrate on it so it doesn’t spill off the puck, and then vape that. That’s how it’s supposed to work in theory.

In practice, I can never get a puck to work. I have to place the puck levelly inside a circular hole barely wider than its circumference but usually a few cm. deep. Then carefully reach in there with the dab tool to drip the sauce onto the puck… and then the dab tool sticks to the puck! So I’m shaking the dab tool around to drop the puck, but now I’m smearing concentrate all over the inside of the chamber and eventually, inevitably, the puck will fall off upside down into the oven. And now I have concentrate smeared on both sides of the puck, defeating its entire purpose. I end up struggling with it like Donald Duck fighting a beehive.

If you readers out there have the Zen concentration to make that puck work, more power to you.

Bottom line: For me, dexterity is my dump stat, so the Dablamp design provides for the easiest way to switch between concentrates and herb on an eRig (or electronic vaporizer) I’ve found yet. Really, it’s just like switching between a flower bowl and a banger on a glass analog rig.

Dablamp dry herb extension

No other eRig on the market has this unique set of features

Between the induction heating, the versatility, and the relatively compact form factor and ease of use, nothing else on the dab rig market really comes close to the Dablamp. At $219, it’s also at the most reasonable end of eRig price ranges.

On top of all that: It looks cool! The light makes the entire glass chamber light up, and the design is rounded and elegant. It’s classical enough to be charming, but sophisticated enough that it wouldn’t be out of place at the Mos Eisley cantina. Some slug-person alien vaping out of it before he starts a fight with Han Solo.

Readers, tell us: Do you struggle with the puck too, or is Pete just a thumb-fingered bubblehead? Natter away in the coms or in the forum of no return.

Hello Mood Afghan Hash | It’s Genuine!

BANNER-Hello-Mood-Afghan-Hash

Hello Mood is a company out of Oklahoma City, OK, which has been advertising quite heavily around the web. For one thing, it’s one of the rare companies that has a YouTube ad, which I’ve seen. So far, not so remarkable, until I noticed they carry Afghan Hash. Now, any kind of hash is a very uncommon product to find in our bustling cannabis industry. I was quite skeptical, so I had to find out.

So I rolled up to the almighty eCommerce take-out window, plopped down my $40 for 1.5 grams, and ordered some. Two days later, here it came. And I’ll be damned to biscuits if it wasn’t real hash!

See our YouTube video review of Hello Mood Afghan Hash here. And hey, a like and subscribe wouldn’t kill you, either.

Pros:

  • Potent!
  • Euphoric, uplifting high
  • Decent quality
  • Fair price for the quantity
  • Complete lab tests posted

Cons:

  • It looks, smells, and tastes like hash
  • Peak effects seem to wear off relatively quickly

Recommendations: The packaging was a tad wasteful, with a tiny capsule swimming in a box within an even bigger envelope. Maybe work on that, and also, it seems to go out of stock a lot?

Hello-Mood-Afghan-Hash1

The Proof Is In The Smoking

As I mention, it’s rare to find a company selling straight cannabis hash, let alone delta 8 hash. According to Hello Mood’s dutifully posted lab test, it’s 38.5% delta 8 to be exact. That’s an interesting trick to pull off; I assume this had something to do with CBD hemp hash with added delta 8 extract. In any case, this looks, smells, and tastes exactly like any regular hash I’ve ever seen. At a high enough potency, you almost can’t tell delta 8 from regular delta 9 THC.

However, it has been a while since I used hash, so the 1.5 gram size capsule left me a little bemused at first, but this is densely compressed hash, which is itself mostly compressed trichomes and resin. You only need to pick off a tiny crumb to smoke for a one-person session, like the size of a grain of rice up to a lentil. A breadcrumb, really.

The closest I see to hash on the average dispensary scene is moonrocks, which we have covered here before (such as the InHeal box). Moonrocks are these smaller, mid-quality flower buds that are rolled in hash and kief. As I noted in that review, moonrocks are potent, but not much to write home about in the taste department.

BUT! The effects are outstanding! Hello Mood hash kicks in pretty quick after a few puffs. It delivers an uplifting, euphoric high without too much brain fog. The peak of this buzz lasts a good two hours, but wears off faster than, say, a bowl of equivalent weed would. With that said, it’s about the best bang you can get for smoking something you load with a dab tool once, very much equivalent to dabbing a concentrate. What’s more, I get this effect again and again, chipping off the little brown puck for days without raising my tolerance too much.

Please note: I’d already gone through near half of the product before taking pictures. As delivered, the 1.5g almost fills the container.

The Taste of Hash Takes Getting Used To

Opening the sample, you will get a whiff of a pungent, earthy aroma that smells somewhere between manure and a freshly lit match. Brace yourself, because it’s only getting worse from here. This applies not just to Hello Mood hash, but hash in general.

Smoking it, the full flavor and aroma of hash occupies a narrow spectrum, which might be compared to burning cork while smelling the overheated brakes of a runaway diesel truck. The smoke is thick and gassy. Inhaling it is harsh, even more so for the delta 8. I could go on all day making comparisons to smoking hash: a dead skunk drowned in gasoline, charcoal washed down with a shot of roofing tar, the devil’s own onion-and-egg burrito fart.

Hash is just an unpleasant smoke. Even if you love the effects, at least once during a hash session you may choke and gag, giving you pause to wonder why you do this to yourself. Most methods of consuming cannabis at least have the capacity to be a classy experience, but smoking hash just has a way of making you feel like a junkie in a dive motel.

If you develop a taste for hash – and lord help you if you do – you may eventually see it like an espresso, appreciating the bold, BOLD taste. There’s an occasional terpene leaking through for a flavor note, perhaps a bit of sage taste on top of the taste of a charred tire that rolled through paint thinner.

One more important note: You’ll see sites like WeedMaps telling you that you can dab or vaporize hash. Fine, I tried dabbing some. I came away from this experiment with my newly discovered knowledge, which I urge you to heed with every grain of your mortal soul: DO. NOT. DAB. HASH! Unless you want that experience just so you can go back to smoking it out of a bong saying “see, this doesn’t seem so bad now!” It tasted and smelled even worse, plus it does not melt efficiently, mostly burning instead.

With all that said, this is all about hash in general. Within that limitation, Hello Mood is some of the best hash I’ve found. I can tell they’re trying their best.

Why Isn’t Hash More Commonly Sold?

Aside from the aesthetics (burnt popcorn slathered in WD-40?), smoking hash is simply the least interesting thing to do with hash. For one thing, you can compress it to make rosin. In fact, hash is simply concentrate / extract with more plant matter in it. While I haven’t gone after this sample of hash with the ol’ hair-straightener and wax paper bit, it could possibly work. However, Hello Mood sells concentrates anyway, which I’m eager to sample next.

hash-stack

Hello Mood Improved My Mood!

Like I say, the effects were great, probably one of the best effects I’ve gotten from anything short of full-D9THC concentrate. I still have to marvel sometimes, what a time this is to witness. Spending $40 to have actual hashish shipped to my door is something I could only dream of 30 years ago. I’m old-school enough to still regard hash as an outrageous luxury, shaped from a time when I was lucky if I could connect with my corner plug for a sandwich baggy of shake. Now I’m like “Hash? Naw, I’ll stick to my Wellicy Duo Fiesta Fruit dabs!”

If you are in the market for hash, Hello Mood should be right at the top of your list.
