In this post about revealing fake cartridges, we are going to be talking about Cookies cartridges and vape pods. Founded by Berner (Gilbert Milam), Cookies produces different types of Cannabis products such as flowers, extracts, concentrates, edibles, tinctures, topicals, and more.

Cookies has both standard cartridges and a G Pen Gio pod, a collaboration Berner made with Grenco Science. See our review on G Pen Gio as to why we don’t recommend it. The cartridges oil is made by a company called High Flyers in collaboration with Berner and use real CCELL hardware. Below, you will see a photo of what a counterfeit Cookies cartridges and pods look like.

Update 12/27/2019: Information regarding pods added. Cookies pods use Grenco Science hardware while Cookies cartridges use CCELL. There is no information indicating that there are fake pods for cookies out there yet.

Fake Cookies cartridges sold online come in various packaging: One gram carts are all fake

There have also been manufacturers in China who are also making counterfeit Cookies Cartridges. Most of them can be found in online websites like Alibaba. In fact, there are even different versions of packaging being sold there. Keep in mind that the real Cookies brand only sells half gram carts, so if you see a full gram cart it is fake.

Some come in boxes where in the cart is displayed in the center:

There are also ones where the cartridge is placed at the side of the box, like in the photo below:

Taking a closer look, one out of the two fake Cookies Carts are very different in the way the packaging opens.

As you can see, there is also one in a plastic shell packaging.

Fake Cookies pods don’t seem to exist, yet

We could not yet located any fake G Pen Gio pods that use Cookies branding. It’s possible that since G Pen is technically not a cannabis company they are able to enforce authenticity via trademark, indirectly making it not possible for fake Cookies pods to gain any traction. It’s also possible no one has tried because of that.

The difference between the fake and real Cookies cartridge

Now that we saw some samples of fake Cookies cartridges, it’s time to learn how do these compare to the real Cookies cartridges? Let’s take a look.

For starters, the packaging looks different than the packaging of the fake ones. The authentic one comes in a box, without the cartridge showing. The fake ones in the boxes if you noticed from the previous photos have an open side where you can see the cartridge inside the box. Below is a picture of what real Cookies cartridges look like.

They also have this packaging in line with the Cookies Gio Pen Vape.

Might be easy to tell fake from real but we should still be careful…

From the photos we showed above, it might be easier to spot which carts are fake from the original one judging by the packaging. But since the market just continues to sell fake carts, who knows- soon enough they might be selling something with a more similar packaging to the authentic Cookie cartridges. If you are hesitant, you can even ask the company itself. Most of them are happy to reply to inquiries on counterfeit products since they don’t want customers to be tricked into buying a fakes.

    • So the reason they are not online is they are online in licensed shops and they ones made by HIgh Flyers are the only real ones, in half grams. Anything not from a shop will be almost for sure fake. On top of that, the real ones are not that special anyway. They’re above average, but not anywhere near the best.   20. Dang it. I just picked up from Pit Stop in Altadena, CA today. I’ve never been in there before. The cartridge I got is a gram. It burns easily, almost too easily. The packaging does not show the actual cartridge. To get the cartridge out the box it just needs to be pushed through.do you think it’s fake or real?

    • Only at real shops in CA unfortunately – if you are in San Diego double check it’s a licensed shop, especially in Chula Vista still a lot of fake stuff

    I attached it to my pen but when I breathe in, nothing comes out and no smoke when I exhale.
    What am I doing wrong?

    • You have to clear them first. The oil has hardened a bit. I pulse my while constantly sucking in. It will eventually break loose and you get one heckuva hit so be prepared.

    • If there is a button, press it as you inhale.
      If youre doing that and the light flashes red its dead. (Charge it)
      If its one of the inhalable batteries and it lights up red its dead. (Charge it)
      If it does light up and nothing still comes out, its clogged. (Inhale really hard till you feel the pressure dissappear and then blaze it fellow toker.

I know they say in the article that all 1000mg ones are fakes, but i had gotten one from a plug the other day and the packaging looked all real but it said 1000mg instead of 500mg and i smoked off it with a friend and let me just say fake or not THAT SHIT HITS. Lets just hope we werent getting pesticides as well in it????

    • If it’s from Oregon, it has pesticides. Oregon Health Authority even briefed the Governor’s office a while back that at least 26% of product had over-the-legal-threshold levels of pesticides. The truth about the marijuana industry in Oregon is, it’s dirty. In almost ever sense of the word.

Let me tell all y’all something believe it or not all carts u get on the street are fake you do not know what is in the oil of a fake cart and generally it getting a lot of cut mixed with the good stuff so it ends up being like u only got a half gram of actual thc oil n the rest is bullshit I personally sold many of these but don’t anymore after understanding what the truth is, had good ones had bad and many different kinds and brands I’m telling you it’s never ever worth it to use these pens off the street of course it doesn’t matter to you u til your actually having health problems then you’ll be like fuck could had legit real shit and not be a retard it is not really a deal no matter what your dealer says I’m telling u just because it gets you really high even a good fake still has god knows what in it

    • You’re rolling the dice if you don’t know what you’re vaping. I got a fake cookie cart off the streets and it tasted like burnt wood. I tossed it in the trash immediately. I lost $50 but learned a good lesson.

  44. Hmmm I got correct package bit yuppers its 1000mg.so fake. But it tastes good and smokes well. Qiute honestly if this is the fake i will be ecstatic if i ever get the real thing. Thanks for posting this info tho as it will help me make better choices about my generic prescriptions. Lol

  46. I go to dispensaries often and I’ve had authentic cookies carts and I’ve also bought fake cookies carts that were full grams and half the price of the authentic half grams.

    I really hate to say this and I don’t know why but the fake one I had blew every cookies cart I had out of the water. Taste, smoothness of hit, and high were just so much better than authentic. Considering price it’s honestly a no brainier decision.

    I believe this is because people are pumping out black market distillate and because they’re black market they can avoid huge taxes that the gov is placing on legal operations. They also probably aren’t seeking crazy high margins like most of the designer bud companies.

  49. So I have a question. I have a cookie cart it’s 1gram and it’s the “smarties” flavor. It’s clear with the oil color but the top is white. The box was a push button and u pull it out of the second box out of the initial first box it is sealed in. Do you think it is fake? I’m not really a fan of it.       • The problem lies in the extraction process odds are they using butane or some other inferior gas for the extraction .look up popcorn lung . That’s why you buy legits .

        • I feel like most of these people don’t care what’s in it as long as it gets them high. Yes there is THC in the fake ones…..there’s also some other crazy shit in there for a filler to make more money. It’s not just the cookies carts that are fake….. I know that Dank, King Pen, Cookies, and Chronic had problems with fakes. All they need to do is print a sample label that you could print from home, and there you go the fakes are out.

  61. So what are the issues related to smoking “fake” carts? Will you die? Or develope harmful health effects? If not, then Idgaf. High is high. But of course if it causes bodily damage, then that is another story.

    • On the bodily damage part it really is unknown at this point.

      We do know however that some pesticides have been linked to cancer, like the recent Round Up cases that have been happening.

      Plus in some states the regs are not as tight (CA for example) and you might end up hitting dirty stuff here and there anyway.

    • I tried out three of them and they were not that harsh, but it might have been the strain you had. Either way Cookies real ones really are not that good. Airo Pro, Select Elite, Aces Extracts, Roots, Cannavative = all better

      • I’ve bought 1/2 real carts and I thought 1 gram ones as well. Funny thing is that the one gram tasted way better had better looking color and viscosity. I had gotten a whole case , which looked very professional. Had lemon pound cake , cereal milk and I forgotten the other two flavors.     • yes the oil can be good, but whether or not it is good is unknown, most likely not good oil because you wouldn’t need to fake being apart of a brand if you had your own lab results to prove your carts are safe, you could just sell them or start your own brand easily.

    • Someone buying cheap packaging and putting there own stuff in that will still get you high, but prolly at a lower %thx. So in turn your still getting high. There making money off the name and using the 91% to help see at higher cost

  96. I just got my second cookie cart and after reading this I guess they’re both fake. I have A lemoncello and a biscotti. I believe the lemon one is real oil cause it’s pretty good. And this biscotti seems to be doing the job. Shitty to know they’re not real, being from the Bay I support Cookies brand. And these are gold, taste great too.

      • yeah i have some that are gram cartridges with the C on them, and cookies written on the metal piece. Come in a nice packaging too, and the cart is pretty fancy with a ceramic tip. They taste great, the oil is good. Thought they were legit until i came on here.

  98. Hi, I have a question regarding cookies carts, I’ll post a picture once you’ve sent me the link. Anyway I have a cart suspected to be made by cookies, that is flavored (cerial milk) it is a full gram cartridge. Is there a possibility it is real. And how can you tell if a cartridge fake? Is it better to just go straight to forums like this as soon as there is any reasonable doubt?

      However this one is easy – full gram is a fake – Cookies right now only makes half grams. This does not mean it’s not a good cart. It could still have good oil in it!
