TKO Products makes TKO vapes and they are based out of California. Fake TKO carts are now everywhere, most likely outselling the real thing. Here we will go through the basics of identifying fake TKO cartridges and where to get the real thing.

Update January 5th, 2021: Spammers have descended on this post repeatedly posting the domain tkoextracts.org, which is a fake scam site that takes money and ships nothing. The real, and only remaining, TKO site is tkoproducts.com, which only makes edibles. Going forward, all TKO cartridge products are fake. Don’t fall for online scammers; our readers report getting scammed out of thousands of dollars!

Update June 20, 2019: The fake TKO company on Instagram, under the username _tkoextracts, recently posted results from Bella Costa Labs that were falsified.

Update July 27, 2019: Some have claimed that TKO is an East Coast brand in our comments section and this might be true. We are unable to confirm it because upon asking them via their Instagram account if they were fake or real, we were blocked. There exist more fake hardware TKO carts than anything else, so even if there is an East Coast brand, odds are whatever you are getting is fake and has no consistency with TKO products in other areas.

Not a disposable? It’s a Fake TKO cartridge

I just heard back from TKO products by email and they only make disposables now. This might be in response to the number of fakes out there. Basically, any cartridge out there that is a stand-alone cart that needs a battery attached to it is a fake TKO cart. Fake cartridges have been a constant issue in the cannabis industry.

All real TKO cartridges use the same disposable style pen. We emailed TKO Products, makers of TKO Extracts to confirm, and they said they no longer make any non-disposable vape carts.

Here are some examples of fake TKO cartridges

You will notice basically all the ones you see on the black market are fake. We personally have not yet seen the disposables even being sold outside of dispensaries, even though it may be happening somewhere.

So what are fake TKO cartridges? Anything TKO-labeled vape cartridge that is not disposable is a fake.

The packaging below is 100% fake. It does not even use the same logo as the original TKO extracts.

The fake TKO carts use what appears to be a CCELL clone.

The fakers even offer 20 different flavors. Too bad TKO only offers four as of now.

Old TKO carts lurking

There might be some old stand-alone TKO cartridges lurking around, but there are few. Almost all that have been produced were fakes. All that continues to be produced now are fakes. The only real TKO cartridges are going to be in disposable form. TKO Products is based in California, so if you get them anywhere besides a legit CA dispensary, they might be fake too.

At this point, it is safe to say there are little to no of these old TKO cartridges in circulation.

Fake does not always mean bad

If you’ve seen our oil pen tests page, then you know many legit brands even come up for dirty oil. All carts you get on the street are not necessarily dirty or of low quality either. If your plug is using good oil and fake TKO vape hardware, it still might be a good overall vape cart. Fakes can also be awful, mixed with MCT oil or other not-so-great products.

Just keep in mind when you see the TKO brand in a stand-alone cartridge there is no “brand” and no consistency with that brand, unless it’s the same plug you got oil carts from before.

 What are TKO carts?

A TKO cart is a standalone piece of hardware made in China. It could be filled with any THC oil and there is no consistency in the final products produced for market. Currently, the company behind real TKO cartridges no longer makes standalone carts, only disposable vape pens. Therefore, all TKO carts are fake.

What are Fake TKO carts?

Any standalone THC cartridge that requires a battery and has TKO markings on it is a fake TKO cart.

Who owns TKO Extracts?

TKO Extracts is a brand of TKO Products LLC, a California-based Limited Liability Company owned by Avinx California LLC. According to the California Secretary of State’s website, TKO Products LLC is a subsidiary of Avinx California LLC. The Managing Member of TKO Products LLC and Avinx California LLC is Joseph P. Genova. Therefore, Joseph P. Genova is indirectly the owner of TKO Extracts.

How can you tell a fake TKO cart?

If it’s a standalone cartridge that requires a battery, it is a fake TKO cart.

Is TKO safe?

Authentic TKO Extracts products meet safety guidelines for the State of California. Fake TKO carts are not guaranteed to meet any quality standard.

TKO looks like a legit supplier of cannabis products that unfortunately got ripped off. They even provide a Certificate of Analysis to prove their products are clean.   10. Stay away from them, they’re super fake and literally did nothing to me when I smoked it besides burn my throat. They have black tips and the ones I tried were called Girl Scout cookies. From what I’ve seen TKO doesn’t even make a GSC flavor, ppl fill these carts with all kinds of junk. You’re better off smoking weed or off a rig. It’s 2020 guys, mostly all black market carts have been counterfeited and if they’re new and become popular they’ll be counterfeited. Smoke a joint.

  20. I get the TKO Blacks in boxes without the pen attached. Therefore, they are stand alone carts. However, the blacks don’t make many flavors but I have had most. I have had the chocolope, strawnana, lemon cake, and king Louis, And all were great! The king Louis is personally my favorite because it taste like bud but if you’re going for a flavor then try the strawnana and the chocolope is very interesting.   21. They are not fakes….They are just 2 different companies. The logos are completely different, as well as the packaging. They are not copying, in fact I believe the black market ones are actually the originals. Black market, does not mean fake. Just make sure you have a legitimate connect, and check out what you buy. The TKO C-Cell Carts (1000MG) with the white tips & TKO engraved on the bottom of the cartridge, are FIRE. Ive had their Mango Gelato, Gushers, & right now toking on OG Cookies. All have been super thick, beautiful gold, amazing tasting STRONG High Quality oil…& I am a 20+ year smoker & extremely picky when it comes to extracts and oils.
    I have never seen the other brand with the disposable pens, so I cannot speak on them, but the white tip TKO Extracts are FIRE 🔥

    • Actually the original brand used to do regular carts as well. If you check out the logos, you can see that the “other brand” is a fake of the original. Plus TKO’s even if there is a real “black market brand” is flooded by 100 times more fakes of it on DH Gate etc. So the odds of anything even being a “real black market TKO” if there is one, which is also a fake of what TKO Products does, is almost none.

All of a sudden every cart has clear liquid and a clear tip as opposed to the old ones which were actually amber colored with black or white tips. no idea if these safe or completely trash they get me stoned but everyone always says theyre full of pesticides.   24. I got a cart sour tangie 1000mg and it has a white tip. I’m confused if it fake or not . When I turn it upside the down the oil moves very slow. I get really high off it but my bf doesn’t and I’m assuming bc he has a higher tolerance but I’m confused if this is real or not. I was told they came straight from the dispensary.

    • So the only real TKO sells disposable vapes and is in CA. They stopped selling the standalone cartridges a long time ago. Anything after those old ones is fake. If you could possibly screenshot the lab results and post them on our forum here:

      We’ll verify that they are in fact real lab results. But it’s also important to note that there are “R&D” results and then “for the public results.”

      R&D tests are what black market companies can get and what any company can get by submitting the oil they select to the lab. The general, for the public results you would find on a legit brand like Select Elite are different in that the lab actually goes and picks up from Select Elite directly the items to be tested. These items are tested per batch, whereas R&D tests they could just do one test then give you whatever oil after.

  28. I have been smoking tko carts for the last 2 years if they have a off white tip and tko official engraved on the collar right above the threads. As far as I’m concerned they are real. I’m now on a liquid gold diet. Its good to keep things flexible . Variety is the spice of life.

    The white market TKO is a totally different company with licensing in CA, and only in like two dispensaries. Matter of fact the Black market TKO Extracts company has been around longer than the White Market TKO. two bit Dealers saw the popularity of the black market brand and got Chinese producers to counterfeit the packaging and mail to their house and then they fill it with hotdog water distillate, and vitamin e acetate and god knows what. They did it out of greed, and like scamming people and do not care about hurting peoples lungs. On the Other HAND……

          I am pretty sure he was trying to reference https://tkoofficial.com which is not a registered company, but instead he posted some spammy redirect site with a similar name. The real TKO items are made by https://tkoproducts.com – and they don’t even do standalone carts.

          Maybe someone is trying to take over the TKO name and making them from one place, but even on that site the Lab Results link is bad, then they reference grey tipped carts when they are white in their own picture.

          • Thanks for commenting and if there is any reality to it, it’s not a registered legit company on the east coast, while the west coast one is. Additionally, should the standalone ones be from a “single company” theoretically, they are so heavily faked there’s always way more likely than not any standalone cart is a fake.

  35. First,I appreciate your diligence in your fake cart research. I read often because I’m forced to use black market. I do have a question. Isn’t it possible that these “now” legitimate companies sold there previous “not legitimate” stock to the black market? Of course they couldn’t admit to it, thus deeming them “fake”. Where only the “regulations” are the difference between them.

    • Thanks for commenting! And yes sctually this has happened with some brands – Kushy Vape by Kushy Punch being one of them. However with TKO, the black market TKOs are a larger market share than the real company and the empties are available everywhere. I also spoke with someone directly at TKO and they said they only make disposables. So yes it happens – but I don’t think it has with TKO.

    OG PLATINUM and it’s great. I was walking back to the house from parking car across the street. As I’m walking I noticed it right there, i would of beeen stupid not to pick it up. There was nobody around. I walked with it til I got home (which wasn’t very far) once I got inside I opened it and I was like “WTF” Lol. It was epic. Of course I go online to see what they’re worth. I mean I do got ten of em why not sell some. Then I jumped into this…might be fake but the oil is fire my friends. I’m lucky here I know but still faded enough to write this comment. Cheers.

  37. I have someone in my area that has BOXES of these. Bought 4 not knowing. Being someone who is consistently high all day, I hit on these ALL DAY LONG and felt nothing! So that’s was my first clue. The consistency was runny, the one cart had the labeling wrong and it was hard to get out of the package. I’m safe and healthy. Stupid choice I made to save $10….But thank goodness I found this page! THANK YOU!

He went ham in CA three years ago and bought A LOT of the white tipped TKO standalone carts from reputable dispensaries and came home with them. He still has QUITE a few left, as most of us are flower smokers out here. I don’t doubt their validity, they taste amazing, thick as get out, packaging falls in line with TKOS old packaging.

I bought a couple white tips here in Ohio my plug says he gets them from a dispensary in MI the bubble moves slow the taste is subtle but good not a lot of coughing at all packaging is in tact everything sealed a lot of professionalism put into providing a “fake” product. Idk I’ll update after I smoke for awhile high is good with a good head buzz and body buzz it’s a sour diesel so far I’m happy

  44. I just got a lemon tree one gram cart from a guy I just met a few weeks ago. Swear they get him high and are legit but they’re not disposable and I’m in mass. I buy dispensary carts and these two carts are harsh as F! Never had a dispo cart feel so harsh n not taste good. If I turn it upside down the bubble goes back n forth right away! I’ve never seen that in a good cart! It’s almost a thick version of gold water. Burns my throat burns after each pull. Seems to get me a lil stoned though. It’s a hybrid btw. One gram lemon tree.   46. Just bought my first tko, also here in Rhode Island, try the white chowda! Standalone cart so definitely fake, which I’m totally at peace with. Th oil inside of it is extremely thick; the air bubble inside doesn’t move when you turn it upside down, or even when you shake it hard. The taste is good, not too strong, and no coughing unless you’re taking real bangers off of it. The high is enjoyable, nice head high with a bit of a body buzz. As this is my first cart I’m not too sure if they all taste similar or not, but with a consistent plug I’m excited to try ’em all. When it comes down to it, whether you’re grabbing flower or oil on the black market, you have to have a level of trust with whomever you associate. Our bags of buds weren’t and aren’t branded with anything and we we’re all happy still, right?

I have been questioned the tkos it doesnt say the thc percentage or anything relevant. Glad i read this. Ill just wait till i get my card back on Jan 6.   55. I recently bought the white mouth pieced one unknowing it’s a fake for $40. Durban Poison Sativa. First thought was that it wasn’t flavorful at all, then I started getting shortness of breath and thought it was cause I was playing an intense video game but it’s happened otherwise as well. Gonna throw it away and stick with herb. Sux to have thrown away $40 tho ????

    • Just a tip for anyone who does plan on buying street carts: If you plan on buying any cartridge you should be spending 25$-35$ dollars. Nothing more or less, but that’s buying from the street, not dispensaries. You will find this is the best price for good carts, including Dabwoods and TKO. TKO carts from where I come from are good and can get a daily smoker high in about 3 hits. I’ve found that my TKO carts last twice as long as my Dabwoods carts. Dabwoods obviously aren’t as popular as TKOs, but over all of my purchases and robbing plug experiences I’ve found I get real TKOs more times than I get real Dabwoods, so if anything, count on TKO carts, but research a little bit on YouTube for your own sake.

  58. Yeah I’ve been using tkos for almost a year on and off, and when the grey tips came out in end of august they were too thin and tasted like straight junk, almost like pine sol. I’m in the CT area, but beginning of September I started using Cookies By high flyers and C21 which I highly recommend. Usually pay 30-35$ for tko carts here but most of them are shit. My guy still has black tips that are amazing but not worth it. Usually pay 40-45 for carts that are decent and it’s more $, but it saves ur life. Stop smoking this shit. Stay safe!

    • There’s no telling and nobody knows. It is possible they use good oil. But now the issue is heavy metal testing. Why doesn’t that dealer buy something like real CCELLs and fill them – thats what we would like to see.

The buttons say tko official. My brother in law had some tko carts that didnt say tko official and his burnt the hell out of my nose and throat. I love mine though and continue to enjoy them

Call them “fakes” if you will but the TKO carts I’ve gotten in the past were good and just popped up again the other week with some Blueberry Disel(one of the best tasting carts I’ve tried), Biscotti, and Gelato. If I’ve been getting them from someone making them elsewhere they’ve been doing a pretty good job. I plan on grabbing a few more today if I have the chance.

      • Generally they can be laced with poisonous chemicals. It’s rare in most areas to find these poisoned carts but make sure your plug is reliable and more publicly known. Stay safe.

      White and Black tips are fake. It should be a greyish-offwhite tip with a black ring under it. Then it should have “TKO Official” written on the underside of the cartridge. It’s 10-pack box should also come wrapped in UV holographic plastic that says “TKO” all over.

    However, does that necessarily mean its bad and/or lethal??
    It’s a dark golden color, very thick (it actually gets clogged if it sets too long) & it doesn’t run at all when it’s held upside down.
    I just HATE to throw these in the trash when they could be totally fine to vape. They do give a good high with only 4 hits.
    I gave $50 bucks for each cart & I bought 2.

Though the printed part was identical, I noticed the one with no logo’s vial was a little longer. This recent testing explains these recent deaths and the tests are all found in cannabis carts, mostly from New York.( MA is right next door and its legal there). I’ve only had Fake TKO carts for a little over 3 months now, and I loved them my plug was giving them to me for $20 a pop and had many flavors I actually stopped smoking regular bud all together, im 22, 5’10 154 pounds and never really get sick like its been years since I last got real sick, and I’m not 100% sure the fake carts caused it but at the end of the 3 months I had real bad chest pains, loss of breath, loss of appetite, nausea, vomitting, headaches and decided to go to the hospital after 3 days of it only getting worse and got diagnosed with Pneumonia for the first time in my life, so I guess moral of the story is not everyone reacts to these fakes the same way but you need to be careful with your health. Also side note i dont have asthma and always have had healthy lungs played football, and was on the wrestling team all 4 years of HS so just giving an example of what you can expect by taking the risk and vaping these fake carts.

I brought it back to my plug and no. I then went to a different plug and was able to get a TKO for $35 of chemdawg I really liked it. Even though it was a fake TKO I do believe that the product was far superior for the price. Having a lot of medical conditions I’m very hyper sensitive to chemicals I didn’t have any problems with the chemdawg TKO carts. I would love to be able to score these for $20 each however the only connects that I got are between 30 to $40 each. The TKO run 35 to $40 each. The dispensaries are selling the one gram parts for $100 each.

    • I bought 10 of these for $300 they were all just like you explained. Although the packaging is all legit, they still proved to be fakes. The carts were almost all already leaking before use. Also, the oil was VERY runny. Another sign that they were fake. I took one hit and started to feel a headache nearly 10 minutes after.

I’ve only been to the dispensary once personally, when I visited Colorado. Every one I bought and or looked at had the percentages on each individual packaging. I’m not sure if that’s an accurate way to tell, but it seems like it should be required for a legit one. That being said, they were both very good products. Been to urgent care and ER, all tests negative, but causes flu like symptoms ( fever, chills, aches, no appetite) Heart rate stuck at 120bpm, resp rate 22 (avg 16).     • A question was submitted to them if they are a real cartridge or a hardware company and they blocked the account. Should there be a real brand, at this point most are fakes either way due to the amount of fake hardware out there. It should also be noted that they faked lab results from Bella Costa Labs, the TKO that has the more popular IG account.

      We will update the post to reflect that there may be a real company out there, but there are much more fakes out there than real no doubt. Even based on the variants in comments of people saying it is good or bad there is no consistency. Thanks for commenting.

Just went to MA dispensary and paid about $70 (tax incl) for .5 of “Lemon Ice” which looked 1/4 empty already and was almost empty in 3 days of very slow puffing, nothing crazy! Who wouldnt try $40 or $25 carts just for the chance they’re good….I’ve never gotten a “TKO cart” that had fake oil or a formaldehyde taste….seems to give a pretty good high…I just pray I’m not ingesting that will hurt me too bad. Basically it’s just hardware but some people still think there will be some consistency to the brand.     I’ve had a bunch of what I GUESS are fake tko carts.. lemontree, skittles, etc.. but the best BY FAR has been the Lime OG cart. It has almost a psychedelic type high, similar to what strawberry cough or sensei star would give me from a huge bong RIP when my tolerance was much lower.. this is the ONLY cart that gives me this effect, which makes me wonder, what’s so different about it? I’ve also bought plenty of dispensary ones (apex) and honestly, the (fake I guess) TKO Lime OG is the best i think I’ve ever had.

    • Just to add… I have extensive psychedelic experience.. I’m positive I’d be able to tell if there were something “else” in there, I just can’t understand how something that’s “fake” could be so much better than the real ones… it is hard on the lungs though… which makes me nervous for sure, also.       • The fake just means it’s a counterfeit of the original brand, TKO Extracts. It is very likely the plug you get it from puts quality THC oil in it and if so, the “TKO” part is just really the hardware. However, I would bet most of the fake TKO’s out there are probably not that great, and none of them are going to be as good as the original which does lab tests etc.

    • We thought that at first but following up further… it is a fake. There’s no central processing for the other TKO company and you can tell they even ripped off the logo. Even if there was a small TKO company, if it’s not a disposable you will be running into fakes.

      Also a bit telling, there is no pictures of anything related to extract production on their IG, which is their only official anything.

  225. It’s always the fake ones I buy here in Charleston SC, I usually hit the pen for around 3 to 5 seconds , taste decent and cheap. I like it better than the flowers that sale around here. Would like to get the real ones and see whats the difference.
    Jetty carts are the best carts I’ve tried so far here in Chuck town. That was about 3 years ago. Would love to get my hands on some more jetty.

    But all in all for $30 1 cart usually last under 2 weeks solo not that bad. I can buy $30 of flowers and it’s gone in under 30 minutes so it could be worse. But I will stick to the fake pens until I come across a plug with more legitimate products.

      • Not true, I buy carts from dispensary and I have 1 battery. They sell both disposable and just the cart. Maybe the real TKO only sells disposable but every dispensary I’ve been to in mass sells both. My daughter buys the fake tko because it’s cheaper. They work but taste like chemical unlike the good ones that taste like the bud.

        • The amount of fakes is astronimical. If there was a brand making them, at this point they are heavily outnumbered by the fakes so it really does not matter. If you get a TKO cart, 99% chance it is not from whatever brand you are referring to.

I have multiple friends who are reps for legitimate companies in Cali that send them in mass quantities to people in illegal states to sell. They tend to be “dirty” carts that they don’t want that affecting their reputation so they ship them off because they don’t want to waste product.

      • We searched everywhere and even contacted the “other TKO” They have no registration anywhere. Talked with the original TKO and these are in fact fakes of their products.

        It’s more of a “hardware brand” at this point but there is no central processing for TKO extracts besides the official company in California that only produces disposables. They stopped making regular carts.

        You also will notice there is no pictures of any facilities for the fake TKO brand that is on instagram, because they don’t have one. They are just making hardware and reselling it. If the plug has good oil it still might be good though.

        These are no different than Eureka Vapor, a real brand in CA and a copy everywhere else.

  263. Another thing to worry about is the fakes using distillate that has been cut with glue. The glue when emulsified with distillate thickens it up and adds weight for higher profits. Another reason to ONLY buy licensed, tested product. Consumers are protected by law against poison additives in states that have legalized and legislated testing for licensed products.

  266. They have been around for over a year or so. They have an Instagram and actually consistently beat out all the other fakes I’ve tested. The 20 flavors are pretty true to the strain profile when compared to the same flower head to head on a few occasions. Some people are paying up to $100 for the fake tko in this report, the ones I tried were in the $50-60 range. I sure would like to try out a real disposable but I don’t like the idea of throwing batteries in the trash every few days or so. It’s like rap, the new rapper says the best rappers name to get recognition and fighting Toto get in the game. To find the real ones I suppose I’ll need to visit a Cali dispensary but that’s difficult when you have seizures, fibromyalgia and other debilitating chronic health conditions.

    • Good point the disposables. We do hit them as some have great oil but it is kind of a shame to throw away an entire battery each time, especially when they could use a cheap stick battery and it would cost not that much more but be better for the environment.
