Dankwoods is a cannabis pre roll company who makes blunts using Backwoods cigars. The company is known to produce Dank Vapes, a widely distributed THC cartridge that has popped up in both legal and illegal states. In this article, we try to learn how Dankwoods started and what they are producing now.
Dankwoods: No known legit information
I’d like to start with the fact that there is very little known to zero information about this company. There is no contact information available, no identified persons on who’s leading and running their operations and no company address. Basically, they don’t have the things a legit company needs to have. Dankwoods makes blunts using Backwoods cigars and Dank Vapes. Fake cartridges are plaguing the industry, and fake Dank Vapes are no exception. Nowadays, the term blunt is easily exchanged with pre roll and joint which are terms for marijuana cigars that are prepared and rolled before you buy them – in particular, a blunt is a hollowed-out cigar filled with marijuana. Dankwoods is not the first and only company to use Backwoods in making blunts. But why Backwoods?
Backwoods Smokes: The Cigar Brand
Backwoods is a cigar brand produced in the United States in the 1970s and gained popularity in 1980s. The cigar company became widely popular with the use of heavy advertising. Their advertisements targeted groups rather than the general public. These groups were mountaineers, outdoorsmen and those who enjoy extreme activities. I bet our OGs out there know this cigar. At present, flavors like Honey Berry, Sweet Aromatic and Rum are sold in the United States while Vanilla, Banana, and Grape among others have been discontinued but are still sold overseas.
Blunts make use of the cigar leaf and the most popular brands for blunts in addition to Backwoods are Swisher Sweets, Dutch Masters, White Owls and Phillies. Blunt makers remove the tobacco contents and replace it with dried cannabis. Backwoods can be found for this purpose all over the place.
Backwoods: The cigar choice to make blunts
Over the past 3 years, blunts using Backwoods has become the connoisseur’s choice – making it the “Cuban Cigar” of the cannabis industry. Rumor has it that a Backwoods cigar can fit 3.5 grams of dried cannabis hence the term “roll me up an eighth” mainly because of its delicate thin leaf that allows more space. Consuming that much in one go is rather extraordinary.
Brands using Backwoods
Popular pre rolled Backwoods companies include Barewoods, Litwoods, Dankwoods and Packwoods. Barewoods was first to popularize Backwoods blunts in 2016. Litwoods followed the pre roll trend in January 2017 while Dankwoods, the most popular today started in 2018. Packwoods started last December 2018. Do you see anything in their names? Obviously they want to identify with the old guy brand – Backwoods. But, that may not be the only reason.
Dankwoods similarities with Backwoods
Different pre roll companies are riding on the popularity of the iconic Backwoods Cigar. These companies including Dankwoods change the first syllable of the cigar brand and they get instant branding. Since Backwoods Smokes is a legit company these companies want to sound that they are legit as well. They have made Backwoods their blueprint – the cigar company’s logo, hip hop artist endorsements, hot female models and events (420, concert, sports, skating) sponsorship are copied to a tee.
It is easy for me to believe that Dankwoods is a black market company. With zero information available that is required from a legit cannabis company. All black market brands carry a greater risk of having pesticides or residual solvents present than brands where testing is required and the products are in legit dispensaries. For example, Dank Vapes which has been tested a number of times has failed testing. Barewoods has this pending US and Canadian trademark but not as a cannabis company – they filed in the category of “Clothing Products”. Litwoods is a skate team sponsored by Lit Brand and Packwoods, like Dankwoods have zero information with the former now concentrating on skate apparel.
Dankwoods may become legit some day
I’d like to remind the consumers recreational and medicinal users alike that health and safety should always be the first priority. The negative effects of pesticides and residual solvents are not certain, but at this point if you are in a legal state with legit brands available, those are your best choice.
