SUMMARY | 9.3 OVERALL SCORE |
Today we will take a look at the Hydrology9 NX vaporizer by Cloudious9, which works with both flower and concentrates. We have previously reviewed the Hydrology9 vaporizer for dry herbs. The Hydrology9 NX vaporizer currently runs for $300.00 on their website. We will detail our experience objectively as always in our non-affiliate reviews. For this review, I will take a look at the pros and cons of the Hydrology9 NX vaporizer.
Pros:
- Solid water filtration design
- Semi-portability
- Great battery strength
- The relative ease of use
- Excellent flavor
Cons:
- None
Recommendations: None
The Hydrology9 NX vaporizer is a semi-portable modular water filtered vaporizer
The Hydrology NX vaporizer is a semi-portable modular water-filtered vaporizer. It’s relatively simple to assemble as well as easier to load your extracts. The Hydrology9 NX improves upon the previous model of Hydrology9, which only worked exclusively with ground flower. The new Hydrology9 now features an all-new bundle. It includes a switchable concentrate atomizer kit and/or a hybrid convection flower heating chamber kit.
There are two kits included in the Hydrology9 NX
Upon opening the box, The Hydrology9 NX comes with the main unit and two triangular containers. There are two triangular kits included with the Hydrology9 NX. One is for the extract atomizer and the other is a charging kit.
The extract atomizer kit contains:
- atomizer
- quartz bucket
- ceramic bucket
- heating chamber air path seal
- silicone air path seal
- silicone washer
- 1 cleaning tool
- 1 dabbing tool
The charging kit for the NX contains:
- Micro-USB cable
- AC adapter
- 1 magnetic charging adapter
The Hydrology9 NX has an aluminum alloy body. It consists out of the bubbler, the mouthpiece, the atomizer, and the silicone cover. The main advantage the Hydrology NX has over other similar E-Rigs is its water filtration that allows for maximum taste and efficiency.
Using the Hydrology NX for the extract vaporizer is relatively straightforward:
- Remove the silicone sleeve cover
- Fill the NX bubbler with 1/3rds of water
- Take out the extract atomizer from the kit
- Remove the magnetic bucket cover on top of the atomizer
- Take out the quartz/ceramic bucket for the atomizer
- Load your preferred extracts into the quartz/ceramic bucket
- Insert the bucket into the atomizer
- Place the magnetic slide back on top of the atomizer
- Slide the atomizer into the main body of the NX unit
- Place back into the silicone sleeve cover if needed
- Take out the magnetic mouthpiece cover from the extract kit
- Unscrew the carb cap from the magnetic mouthpiece cover
- Place the carb cap onto the atomizer.
- Turn on the NX by pressing the power button three times quickly
- Select the temperature by turning the dial on the bottom of the unit
- Inhale slowly when the light on the unit turns green (one session cycle lasts for 35 minutes.)
Battery Flashing Indicator
- Blue flash when the unit is low on battery
- Red flash during the extract atomizer cool down period
- White flash when the chamber is undetected
Temperature Settings for the Extract Atomizer:
Glass Quartz Recommended for first 3 dials:
- 1st dial: 554 degrees Fahrenheit (blue)
- 2nd dial: 590 degrees Fahrenheit (cyan)
- 3rd dial: 626 degrees Fahrenheit (yellow)
Ceramic Bucket Recommended for the last 3 dials:
- 4th dial: 662 degrees Fahrenheit (purple)
- 5th dial: 716 degrees Fahrenheit (red)
- 6th dial: 770 degrees Fahrenheit (white)
The cleaning and maintenance for the Hydrology NX are slightly more complicated, explained in two parts:
Cleaning the NX atomizer:
- Remove the silicone sleeve
- Slide the atomizer out from the main body of the NX unit
- Remove the magnetic bucket cover on top of the atomizer
- Take out the quartz/ceramic bucket for the atomizer
- Take out the silicone air path seal with a magnetic washer adjacent to the atomizer
- Soak the quartz/ceramic bucket, the magnetic bucket cover, the silicone pieces, and the carb cap in alcohol
Cleaning the NX unit:
- Remove the mouthpiece with the aluminum middle piece connector
- Pour out the water in the main body of the NX
- Remove the glass tube gently
- Twist off the NX washer on top of the stainless steel tube
- Remove the washer seal from the stainless steel tube
- Pull up the stainless steel tube to remove it from the base
- Soak the glass tube, stainless steel tube, NX washer, washer seal, and mouthpiece with the aluminum connector in alcohol
- Then re-assemble the NX unit when all the parts have been cleaned
Not quite as portable than the Dr. Dabber Boost Evo, more portable than The Core E-Rig and High Five Duo
Although the cleaning and maintenance seem more complicated than the Core E-Rig, the Hydrology NX is easier to clean and maintain since it can be taken apart easily. The buckets, the atomizer, and the glass bubbler are easier to clean and maintain than the coiled atomizers for similar E-Rigs like The Core E-Rig. Overall, it’s as easy to clean as the Dr. Dabber Boost Evo, which can be taken apart easily too. Compared to other similar E-Rigs, it’s not quite as portable as the Dr. Dabber Evo. which has fewer parts to worry about. However, it is more portable than The Core E-Rig and the High Five Duo.

Overall, I would recommend the Hydrology9 NX from Cloudious9
In conclusion, the Hydrology NX is highly recommended for its solid water filtration design, semi-portability, relative ease of use, great battery strength, and excellent flavor. In addition, the Hydrology9 NX improves upon the previous model of the Hydrology9 by Cloudious9, which only worked exclusively with ground flower. The Hydrology9 NX vaporizer currently runs for $300.00 on their website here.
