Today we will take a look at the HAMR Cold Start Rig from Myster High-End Accessories, which is the sister brand for Octave High-Tech. We have previously reviewed the Octave Terp Timer here. Myster currently offers the HAMR Rig, the Battpack Power Bank, the Myster Stashtray, the SABR Torch Lighter, and the Octave Terp Timer. The HAMR Cold Start Rig currently runs for $179.00 on their website. We will detail our experience objectively as always in our non-affiliate reviews, as we take a look at what the HAMR Cold Start Rig has to offer.

Pros:

  • Unique design
  • Convenient portability
  • Easy assembly
  • Efficient performance

Cons:

  • Bubble carb cap can break easily
  • SABR torch lighter uses a lot of butane

Recommendations: A sturdier bubble carb cap would be appreciated.

The HAMR Cold-Start Rig is a new uniquely portable cold-start Rig, similar to The Rio Rig from Stache Products

The HAMR Cold-Start Rig is a new uniquely portable cold-start Rig, somewhat similar to the design and mechanics of The Rio Rig from Stache Products. The HAMR has different yet crucial attributes when it comes down to the individual pieces. When opening the zip-up travel-ready case, the HAMR E-Rig kit includes the following:

  • Tilted Glass Bubbler Pipe
  • Quartz Finger Banger
  • Bubble Cap
  • Black Silicon Base
  • SABR Torch Lighter
  • Stainless Steel Dabber
  • A set of 20 Wooden Swabs

Opposed to the rectangular shape of Rio’s glass bubbler, the HAMR Rig uses a slanted cylindrical glass bubbler with a long horizontal mouthpiece. While the updated model of the Rio Rig provides a core reactor banger, the HAMR Rig utilizes an elongated quartz finger banger with a skinny cone-shaped bubble cap. The silicone base is also ergonomically shaped, as opposed to the rectangular base of the Rio Rig. The SABR torch lighter is also removable from the base, opposed to the Rio Rig’s built-in torch; on the other hand, the SABR torch lighter uses a lot of butane.

The HAMR Rig is extremely easy to assemble and operate:

  • Take out the silicone base from the case
  • Take out the glass bubbler and fill 1/3rd with water
  • Place the glass bubbler onto the silicone base with the mouthpiece facing outwards
  • Take out the SABR torch lighter and fill it with butane
  • Adjust the strength of your lighter by turning the dial located at the bottom of the lighter (Keep the flame height so that the tip of the flame is barely touching the banger for the best results.)
  • Take out the finger banger and insert it onto the glass bubbler with the banger side above the SABR torch lighter
  • Take out the bubble carb cap and place it onto the finger banger
  • Turn on the butane dial on the front side of the lighter so that the arrow aligns with the flame icon
  • Flick on the SABR torch lighter
  • Wait for your extract to bubble up as the smoke reaches the top
  • Inhale slowly through the mouthpiece attached to the glass bubbler
  • Turn off the SABR torch lighter once it reaches your optimal temperature

The ease of cleaning and maintaining this E-Rig is another great convenient feature

Although the HAMR E-Rig is extremely portable and convenient, some of the glass pieces are fragile and easy to break, especially the finger banger and the bubbler carb cap. So some caution is advised when using and cleaning this E-Rig, as the glass pieces can break if dropped. But that’s a trade-off because the ease of cleaning and maintaining this E-Rig is a great convenient feature. The only items to clean are the glass bubbler, the bubbler carb cap and the finger banger.

Easier to maintain than High Five Duo, Dr. Dabber Boost Evo, and Hydrology NX but not quite as inconspicuous as Linx Blaze, Utillian 5, and Dr. Dabber Stella

Compared to eRigs such as the High Five Duo, the Dr. Dabber Boost Evo, and the Hydrology NX, the HAMR Rig is easier to use and maintain, although some of the pieces are more fragile and easier to break. By further comparison, this Rig is not quite as inconspicuous as wax pens such as the Linx Blaze, the Utillian 5, and the Dr. Dabber Stella. Overall, the HAMR Rig sacrifices some of the sturdiness of other rigs for maximum efficiency, easy assembly and convenient portability.

The HAMR Cold Start Rig is highly recommended for anyone looking for a uniquely portable dabbing experience that is easy to assemble

In conclusion, the HAMR Cold Start Rig is highly recommended for its unique design, easy assembly, convenient portability, and efficient performance. Although this is slightly more portable than The Rio Rig, some caution is advised when handling the individual pieces, particularly the bubble carb cap. All in all, this is for anyone looking for a unique dabbing experience with very little assembly needed. Its unique portability makes it easy to travel with and pack into a travel-ready carrying case.

To be fair, some of the pieces for the HAMR Rig are fragile, which makes it easier to break than other rigs like the High Five Duo, Dr. Dabber Boost Evo, and Hydrology NX. On the other hand, this rig is slightly more efficient but less inconspicuous than wax pens such as the Linx Blaze, the Utillian 5, and the Dr. Dabber Stella. The HAMR Cold Start Rig currently runs for $179.00 here.
