Doteco MiniS Pro Review – Compact and Consistent

Share

Hey there, I recently got the MiniS Pro, and I have to say, I’m pretty happy with it overall. It was a pretty good experience, and the batteries look cool. Previously, we have reviewed the Doteco TIK20, the Doteco TargetX, and the Doteco TIK10 and MGear4 – all of these cartridge batteries like the MiniS we have today.

Pros:

  • Compact
  • Easy to use
  • Consistent performance
  • Affordable

Cons:

  • The cart can sometimes fall out

Recommendations: Some improvements to the attaching mechanism for the cart would be fantastic.

Compact design

Let me start with the positives. The product is a vape pen battery that’s designed to work with 510-threaded cartridges. It’s compact and easy to use, with a sleek and modern design that looks great. To me, the batteries look like little walkie-talkies, especially with a cart in there and with their LED screen on. The yellow one is my favorite of these options as the color reminds me of the Gameboy color I had as a kid. It’s also a pretty affordable product, which is a plus.

Easy to use

When I first tried it out, I was impressed with how easy it was to use. You simply screw on the cartridge to the little ring that comes in the box, then you slide it into the battery and it attaches magnetically.  The one-button design is pretty intuitive too which is cool. You press the button 5x to turn it on, three times to change the voltage, twice for a 15-second preheat and press and hold to start vaping. The battery is rechargeable and comes with a little cable, which is convenient.

Smooth and consistent performance

The performance of the Doteco MiniS is solid as well. It delivers a smooth and consistent draw, with a decent amount of vapor production. It’s a solid choice for someone who’s looking for a budget-friendly vape pen that gets the job done.

The cart can fall out

However, the one thing to be cautious of – the cart can sometimes fall out. I suppose this is the downside to having a magnetic attachment. I noticed that the cartridge wasn’t always securely attached to the battery, and it could easily come loose if I wasn’t careful. This is something to keep in mind if you’re planning on using this product. You’ll want to make sure that the cartridge is properly screwed on and secured before you start vaping too, because the one other issue was that occasionally the cart would unscrew a bit from the magnetic ring. When that happens the device does not work. I assume this is a safety feature but for the sake of trying to use it just make sure your carts are all the way screwed in ( without over-tightening them of course).

EDITOR’S NOTE: We also noticed this issue with the TargetX, another “socket-style” cartridge battery. Socket-battery designs in general just seem prone to attachment issues, especially with the variable cartridge designs. But if the Doteco is otherwise too fun to pass up, our advice to you readers is to just steady it with your hand. Perhaps slipping a rubber gasket of some kind over the cartridge can help it fit better?

Concluding this review

Overall, I would still recommend the Doteco MiniS Pro, but with the caveat that you need to be careful with the cartridge attachment. It’s a budget-friendly option that delivers solid performance and is easy to use. My favorite thing about this battery is definitely the aesthetic. Just make sure to be careful not to accidentally knock your cart out when you put the device in and out of your pocket. Head over to their website to order one for yourself. The price of this battery is $29.
