Today we will take a look at Utopia Extracts based out of Santa Cruz since 2014. They are particularly acclaimed for their multi-award-winning indoor flower, specifically their Chiquita Banana. They are also widely known for their award-winning vegan gluten-free macaroon edibles. For this review, I will try a couple of strains of their live resin concentrates, which is manufactured in-house from Utopia Farms.
Recommendations: The flavor of their live resin could be slightly tastier.

This month, I tried a couple of different strains from Utopia Extracts, one Sativa and one hybrid. Both jars come in a clean packaging that is plain and simple with their logo printed on top of a white box. Upon opening these jars, both live resin looked slightly darker than the usual live resin with more of a dark golden amber color. Its consistency and texture were slightly similar to some of the live resin concentrate fromCosmic Brands, Highland Oil Co., and Loudpack Extracts. In fact, the look of Apple Fritter resembles a pair of expired Swedish fish next to each other.
This month, I picked up their Cali Berry live resin sauce, which is a Sativa dominant hybrid cross between Ben N Berries and Reckless Rainbow. The slightly darker amber appearance of Cali Berry mostly consists of a chunky sugar-like sauce surrounded by a thin golden ring of HTE layer around the surface. The aroma and flavor of Cali Berry are sweet, fruity, and minty with hints of berries, citrus, pine, and earth. The effects of Cali Berry felt perfect for mornings and daytime as it left me in an uplifting, focused, and mildly relaxing mood. This strain is intended to treat chronic pain, depression, insomnia, mood swings, chronic stress, or fatigue. This felt ideal as a wake and bake or midday boost of cerebral energy. The THC % of Cali Berry is 74.80% and the sum of total cannabinoids % is 88.02%.
Next, I also picked up their Apple Fritter live resin sugar from Utopia Extracts. Apple Fritter is an evenly balanced hybrid cross between Sour Apple and Animal Cookies, which originated from Lumpy’s Flowers. The aroma and flavor of Apple Fritter are sweet, fruity, and nutty with hints of apples, vanilla, diesel, and earth. The effects of Apple Fritter felt perfect for afternoons and early evenings as I left me in a calming, relaxing, and euphoric mood. This strain is intended to treat chronic pain, depression, nausea, chronic stress, and fatigue. The THC % of Apple Fritter is 75.77% and the sum of total cannabinoids % is 88.46%. The flavor of Cali Berry was tastier than Apple Fritter. When it comes to potency Apple Fritter felt slightly stronger than Cali Berry.
The retail price for Utopia Extracts live resin is usually around $32 for a gram, pre-tax. In my opinion, this felt just as great for its agreeable price point, which is similar to Cosmic Brands, Highland Oil Co., and Loudpack Extracts. However, the cured resin badder from Cream Of The Crop Gardens felt slightly stronger and better tasting than the live resin from Utopia Extracts. This live resin was also better tasting and stronger than the cured resin from Friendly Farms, Highlights, and 831 Extracts. However, the live resin from Farm Extracts was slightly better overall in terms of flavor and potency.
In conclusion, the live resin concentrates from Utopia Extracts are easily recommended for their solid quality, strong potency, and fair price. Additionally, they offer a variety of slightly lower-priced concentrates, which are under a different brand named Headstash. (That is not to be confused with the other flower distribution company.) Currently, you can find most Utopia products in select dispensaries throughout California through here or on Weedmaps.
