Pulsar APX V3 Wax Review – Surprisingly Powerful

Share

Today we have our third and final look at the new Pulsar APX V3 series of ultra-portable dry herb and extract vaporizers. Pulsar currently offers various kinds of dry herb & extract vaporizers, bongs, dab rigs, various pipes, and accessories. We have previously reviewed their flagship Rok E-rig here and the Pulsar APX V3 Vape dry herb vaporizer here. They have sent us three different kinds of vaporizers from their APX V3 family. This time, I will try out their APX V3 Wax extract vaporizer.

Pros:

  • Ultra-portable size
  • Surprisingly powerful
  • User-friendly design

Cons:

  • Lack of temperature control
  • Can taste harsh
  • Short battery life

Recommendations: Some degree of temperature control would be welcome for the device.

The V3 Wax is the harshest tasting of the three APX vaporizers

The Pulsar APX V3 Wax is easily the strongest portable vaporizer in the APX V3 family with its triple titanium coil atomizer in a quartz chamber. Its powerful triple coil atomizer creates bigger and denser clouds than the

Pulsar APX Volt, LTQ Vapor Curer, and XMAX Qomo. However, it’s the harshest tasting of the three vaporizers from Pulsar. The V3 Wax shares a few similarities with the Volt, such as the 1100mAh battery, the glass mouthpiece, and the ability to function with a single button. The V3 Wax also has a relatively short battery life, much like the Volt.

There are some key differences between the Pulsar APX Wax and the Pulsar APX Volt

While the Volt utilizes a coilless quartz cup, the Wax uses titanium coils for its atomizer. Additionally, there are no temperature settings available on the Wax unit. So, I would recommend the hands-free power mode to avoid overheating your extracts. Upon opening the kit, you will find the following:

  • APX V3 Wax unit with glass mouthpiece
  • Triple coil atomizer
  • Silicone jar
  • USB-C charging cable
  • Dab tool

Using the Pulsar APX V3 Wax for hands-free power mode:

  • Remove the glass mouthpiece.
  • Place your preferred extract towards the center of the atomizer for the best results.
  • Reattach the glass mouthpiece.
  • Turn on the unit by pressing the power button five times in rapid succession.
  • The color of the LED that lights up the APX logo will indicate the current battery life. (green for 100% – 60% power level, orange for 60% – 20% power level, and red for 20% – 0% power level)
  • Double click the power button to activate heating. (Press and hold down the power button for manual heating mode.)
  • Inhale through the mouthpiece slowly after 5 seconds of heat-up time.

Here are a few key differences between the Pulsar APX V3 Wax and other similar extract vaporizers:

Pulsar APX V3 Wax Pulsar APX V3 Volt LTQ Vapor Curer XMAX Qomo
1100mAh 1100mAh 1500mAh 1350mAh
No Temperature Settings 4 Temperature Settings (2.5v – 3.7v) 140° F – 600° F 3 Temperature Settings (3.3v – 4.2v)

Triple coil atomizer Quartz atomizer Single coil atomizer Ceramic atomizer
Glass mouthpiece Glass mouthpiece Ceramic angled mouthpiece Glass mouthpiece
$69.99 $69.99 $79.99 $79.95

Unlike the Pulsar APX V3 Volt, the Pulsar APX Wax is slightly difficult to clean due to its triple coil atomizer. Thankfully, that’s the only part to worry about, since the glass mouthpiece can be soaked in isopropyl alcohol and the exterior of the battery can be easily wiped down.

While the APX V3 Wax is the strongest of the three vaporizers from Pulsar, the taste can be harsh

Ending our series on the Pulsar APX V3 series, the Pulsar APX V3 Wax isn’t quite as smooth as the other vaporizers from the Pulsar APX V3 family. However, like the APX V3 Volt, the APX V3 Wax is recommended for its ultra-portable size, surprisingly powerful strength, and user-friendly design. While the Wax vaporizer produces the biggest and densest clouds I’ve seen from such a tiny device, the flavor is harsher than the Volt with too much consecutive use or when dealing with saucier consistencies. Between the two extract vaporizers, I would still recommend the cleaner and smoother taste from the Volt over the triple titanium coils for the Wax. All of the Pulsar APX V3 collection, which includes their Vape, Volt & Wax, are all available in a variety of different colors and designs here.
