SteamCloud Micro Review: Great on Clones

Share

Here we check out the SteamCloud Micro. Basically, it’s a micro style battery but with 510 threading instead of the original micro atomizers made popular by the old school original Micro G. This battery turned out not to be the very discreet or cool looking, but it works particularly well on a popular type of CCELL clone.

Pros:

  • Good airflow
  • Best battery for a popular CCELL clone
  • Low price

Cons:

  • Not discreet
  • Not so great on real CCELL carts
  • No warranty

Recommendation: Make it more discreet. A cover over the cartridge would make this look like a standard micro battery, but it may need to be made thicker to fit a cover.

UPDATE 8/27/19:

We received a comment regarding Steamcloud about their warranty process. It turns out that their warranty isn’t as extensive as other companies, which became an issue after a Steamcloud device ceased functioning a week after purchase. We have reached out to Steamcould and they have claimed that they are changing the warranty. But as of now, this situation does decrease their value score.

Current wording on SteamCloud’s website has the following:

Warranty Disclaimer This website and the materials and products on this website are provided “as is” and without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permissible pursuant to applicable law, SteamCloudVapes.com disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.”

SteamCloud Micro is a compact cart battery that hits best on a popular CCELL clone

Not that discreet looking, but it does hit better than anything else on the attached CCELL clone.

The most notable thing about this battery is how well it hits on a particular CCELL clone. That clone version is the same one currently used by Kabunky and Lucid Oils. For some reason, this battery just hits those particularly well, better than any other battery I have tried. When it comes to regular CCELLs it does OK, but still is outperformed by other higher end options like the Vessel battery.

Packaging is standard.

Design could use one big improvement

The design on this vape should be changed to include a cover on the cartridge portion, otherwise everyone knows I am hitting on THC carts. Not bad for a legal state, but it would be cool to have the option to put a piece over that so it looks more discreet.

Airflow design is better than expected

Airflow on the SteamCloud Micro battery is way better than you would expect. This has been the best battery for one of the most popular CCELL clones. Airflow on real CCELLs is OK, but not super stellar. See below a picture of the type of clone this battery works well on.

510 connection instead of the Micro G style.

Three heat settings:  3.2, 3.7, or 4.0 volts

Standard choices on the heat settings. I crank it up to 4.0 volts, which is the red setting, and leave it on that.

Build on the SteamCloud Micro is pretty standard for a micro battery

Nothing particularly great or bad about the build quality. It has that same rubbery feeling that has been around for years now. The battery can take drops without breaking as I did drop it a few times.

Battery life impressive for size, charging is easy Micro USB

Micro USB makes it easy to find chargers.

Battery lasts quite well considering how little it is. 360maH is not huge but definitely more than enough needed for hitting cartridges for a couple days.

Charging is by Micro USB. I would like to see USB-C, but it’s not like anything else vape besides the Carta V  is USB-C right now anyway, and that is $250.

Strength is great on the clone, OK on real CCELL

Below is a picture of a CCELL clone. This variation is popular and has two O-rings below where the oil is sitting.

Airflow was greatly improved on the clone when it was used with the Micro.

The SteamCloud Micro, due to its good airflow on the CCELL clone brings out good strong hits on it, stronger than much more expensive batteries. However, on real CCELLs, the SteamCloud Micro just performs OK. It does not perform as well as the Silo, Palm, Vessel, PCKT One Plus, or SteamCloud EVOD on real CCELLs.

Below you will see a clone on the left and real CCELL on the right. Note that the real CCELL only has one O-ring below where the oil sits.

Both have very similar build, but most of the time the real CCELL is better.

At $16.99 with free shipping it’s a great value

Can’t go wrong at that price. I would get this battery just as a backup for when I run into those particular clone carts. The performance is that much better to justify having this battery on hand.

Concluding our SteamCloud Micro review

Overall, the SteamCloud Micro is a solid battery. It would not be my first choice for authentic CCELLs, but for a particular CCELL clone it turned out to be the best battery out there for it. It’s not very discreet, but it is compact. Battery life was also better than expected. If you would like to get a SteamCloud Micro you can pick one up at NY Vape Shop.
